So this place isn't big but the staff are very nice and thoughtful and hardworking. Came here for the first time and got my niece nails painted and me a fill in. I showed Lin the design and she did the design so perfect. I was so pleasantly surprised she took her time and sculpted my nails perfectly and cleaned them up. Then looked at the picture I brought and designed my nails just as the photo I was so happy. This place is located in the heart of Ferndale and my new favorite place. Thanks Lin! I went yesterday the service was absolutely terrible. I wanted a fill because I wanted to keep my same set because a young lady did them here last time. and I really loved them. They completely removed the design. Then in between me getting them done the two guys switched. Now I have a new person working on them. THEN the guy was standing over him talking and laughing. Made me feel really uncomfortable. I'd brought my friend too. They didn't give her what she wanted either. Then after everything they over charge me for a French tip. when I didn't want it to begin with. I just wanted to keep what I had prior and just get a fill. Decided to get a pedicure for the holiday weekend. Spent a lot of time looking at my options, wanting to make sure it would be worth the money, and finally settled on Queen's. The one positive is that they could fit me in right away. However, from the start, things started going down hill. My nail technician seemed like he didn't do it often, he was nice, but had no knowledge of ingrown toe nails, he was unfortunately very slow (my pedicure took 1.5 hours!), I mentioned at the beginning that it had been awhile and my feet needed scrub a lot, but I had to ask him more than once to do it more/better.. and after all that, as soon as i got home the nail polish on 3 of my nails completely ​PEELED off! The nail polish did not seem old, but he did not put a top/sealer on (I didn't register this until too late), so I assume that's why it happened. I do not have a photo because I had to quickly repaint my nails so I could get to my event. I don't get my nails done too often, so maybe $35 is a very normal price to pay to others, but not to me. Very disappointed this is how it turned out. Sadly won't be returning here, which is unfortunate because it was located very close to my house. read more

this place is overall mismanaged. there were two men doing nails that clearly did not know what they were doing and one woman who kept switching between give clients trying to get peoples nails done. My friend and i went in for acrylic fills and they put 8 layers of nail polish on her nails. mine were lumpy and uneven. my main complaint is that this place was listed as affordable and the signs said $35 for a fill in but we were each charged $55. I have been getting my acrylics done for 4 years and have never paid that much for a fill in. Do not recommend this place and will not be returning! read more

The worst manicure I've ever gotten. I got shellac and it is uneven and streaky. My nails got filed down to nothing, no cuticle trim, and my nails are jagged and all different shapes. The technician talked about politics and how much money his car cost the whole time. You'd think for an hour of "labor" my nails would look 100%. Next time I will wait the 30 minutes at #1 Nail down the street for a proper mani that includes a hand massage and lighter conversation. I called today and I was told to come back in. The lady remembered me from last night and immediately apologized for my terrible manicure and fixed her co workers mess with no hesitation. Was very nice, apologetic and sincere. The next day 3 of my nails chipped and I noticed 3 others were bubbled. I went back. No problem to re do. Great. So I told him the color was 612. I see he is using 611 and says its the same. I got an acrylic full set on my nails. When he started filing down my nails to start the acrylic he ended up filing too deep and broke skin. When I mentioned it he gave an insincere apology. The outcome of these nails were not what I wanted, they were really messy and the gel color is on my skin still. First time here. Got a pedicure and fill ins. Acrylics on my nails were great. Will NEVER get a pedicure here again. Both of my big toes are now swollen and infected because the way there were cut-they became ingrown. It hurt while she was doing it and I said "OW" aloud in which she ignored. I made an appointment with queens nails today for a full set. I normally come to queens nails for pedicures. Workers are always friendly and i always leave a satisfied customer. Today i came in expecting to get a Valentine's Day nail set. I had a specific look in mind & showed Him a picture. I asked Him multiple times if He is 100% sure they can do this design & color.. He assured me that he could & it wouldn't be a problem. A women began to do my nails and the man started working on my sisters nails. 15 mins in, he requests to switch us. He wanted to work on my nails instead & vis versa because he thought the work would be "easier". So my sister & i switched seats. Then, he told me they didn't have the color that i wanted. (Cherry red) so i picked a power pink color. I told him i wanted my nails thinner & my nails came out thick & chunky. My total was $66 but he over charged me an additional $66 & my total came to $132 for a set of nails i wanted to rip off. He did give me a refund of $66 & apologized.. Went here for a pedicure. The first time the pedi was subpar. The last time I went they filled a tub with Luke warm water without any soap or solution. The nail tech also picked at my cuticle so carelessly with his tools that I now have a blister that I'm tending to on my cuticle. Highly recommend folks go somewhere else. For the wont of a nail, a shoe was lost and an entire war. Good soldiers and officers in the military are well-schooled from the earliest days in the importance of keeping their gear in order, and their favourite companions on the battlefield in tip-top shape. Off the battlefield, their other favourite companions should be indulged to be their best, else the consequences could be dire. In today's rat race, a young lady has to be equally well-coiffed and prepared to take on anything. With that in mind, and facing some chipped nails and slightly ungroomed brows, I took myself out into downtown Ferndale for a proper session of enjoyment. Queen's Nails has a conspicuous sign on 9 Mile just up from Woodward, tucked in among numerous bakeries, boutiques, and resale shops. How it manages to maintain the storefront among such coveted real estate is hardly apparent from first glance; it's the ugly spavined nag among prettily groomed chestnuts and roans. I had a poor impression from the first I stepped into shop. Nail salons fall into three categories for me: run of the mill (the donkeys), mid-range but unimpressive (the working horses), and upscale and cleanly "nail spas" (the thoroughbreds or parade horses). Queen's Nails goes right into the donkey category on first appearances as a bland, white-walled space filled with a few temporary stations which might be carted out at night's end when the lease comes due. Not a good sign if your nail parlour is a fly-by-night. Another point is knocked off for a terrible supply of fresh nail polishes from recognizable brands (ie. OPI, Essie, China Glaze) or even harder-to-find but coveted ones. The wall rack hosted a rainbow pharmacopeia devoted to obscure brands of dubious quality, and the OPIs on the front desk didn't seem to originate from the last three or four cycles of releases. Don't get me wrong, I know how the OPI game goes and they dress up old formulas under new catchy names, I swear, but shouldn't I be able to immediately pick out their current crop? I did not bother to get too deep into their offerings because I immediately decided my chipped manicure would be tended elsewhere. Before I leave off the matter of pinkies and piggies, I have to shout out the deplorable state of the three or four pedicure chairs they have. I don't think they were much washed and the machinery looked old. Ladies and gentlemen, spare your tootsies the submersion in those footbaths. A pregnant woman was getting her toes done along with another, and I cringed inwardly thinking she was placing her feet on a white towel turned rather grey with age and ill maintenance. The prices here are run of the mill and do not deserve special commendation or lowering yourself! I ended up deciding an eyebrow wax was an inescapable requirement and with Royal Oak utterly tied up by Arts, Beats and Eats, my preferred choices wouldn't be possible. Knowing what I was in for, I shut my eyes, tilted my head back, and pretended the dark pot of wax wasn't the likely cesspool of bacteria and stray hairs it was at a glance. Most places which do brow waxing either have a dedicated station or a room; Queen's Nails gives you a straight-back chair where reclining is an agony for your neck, and about as comfortable as riding a bitter mule that prefers to kick and bite rather than take three steps uncomplaining. Another star is slapped off for the service; the perfunctory waxing took place without any kind of conversation but the employee kept chattering at her friend. That wax was almost scalding hot! I spoke up once but got a muttered response and nothing much changed; she didn't blow on it, nothing. I suffered knowing how fast brow waxing can be, and she wanted me in and out too I suspect. With a few rips of cotton that she was tucking into the strap of my shirt to hold them (!!!), or at least that's what it felt like, she had me in working order. There weren't any tugging of strays, and only minimal grooming to get the desired shape. The effect was nice, but the whole process was so impersonal I felt like it was not worth the money. Next time I will walk up the street to one of the many outstanding salons well-rated by Yelp and take advantage of their services. I don't care what the upcharge is, I would rather not be treated like an anonymous patron hurled out onto the sidewalk when the little ride is done. Judgment: an embarrassment to Ferndale. Dirty, unkempt shop with a dated selection of off-brand nail polish and shoddy workmanship for even basic salon services. The male manager, as noted by another reviewer, was more interested in walking around with a phone jammed to his ear carrying on a conversation than doing any work. No way am I coming back. read more

Queen's Nails is your typical Asian nail salon with employees who speak broken, mumbled English so you're never really sure what they're saying. The female employee who did my pedicure was sweet and very artistic when I asked for a specific design to be painted. The male employee who appears to run the place was without much personality or courteous service. There were only the two employees working on a Thursday afternoon, we got lucky that no one was there when we got there. However, since both were working on me and my sister-in-law, the wait after us became an hour after only 2 or 3 other people came in. The prices are decent and comparable to other similar shops. The inside of the shop appears dated and far from classy. The next time I am in the area I will probably look elsewhere. read more

Great place to get a no-chip and nice pedi! Staff is friendly, you should time your visit out because if you go during a peak time you will definitely wait (like any good salon). My no-chips have always lasted as well as my regular pedis. Good selection of pinks/reds for the no-chip which is my go-to. They have over 100 colors so it's a nice selection! Regular polish selection is a little small (but your standard color choices are there). Mom was in town a few weeks ago and went with me and got an acrylic fill and said they did an even better job than her normal place! This is my go-to spot since I live right down the road. Don't call and ask if they're busy because they will of course tell you to come in, lol! Just do a quick drive-by to see if they're busy. But, definitely my fave spot to get my nails done in the metro-area. read more

Stopped in for pedicures and it was about what we expected. This is like your average 'mall' nail salon. The wait was about 30-45 minutes for two pedicures, it was Inexpensive ($26 per pedicure), technicians wore face masks due to fumes, there was minimal decor, and a basic polish selection. They have signs up that say "cash tips only please" and "$1.00 additional fee if you pay by credit card", which I found to be unprofessional and definitely overpriced on the credit card fee. read more

Avoid, avoid, avoid! Went in for my first pedicure ever about a week ago and came out with my first ever toenail infection!!! I've always done my own nails and have never had any issues or infections or anything. But I decided I'd splurge and pamper myself and try out something new. Never again! After my pedicure at Queens I got an infection in my big toe called paronychia. Never heard of it? It sucks. It hurts really bad and can be either a bacterial or fungal infection. I should've known I'd catch something here because the place was not clean at all - nail clippings all over the floor, old equipment, tools being pulled out of random drawers and being used on my feet. I would like to start out and say I traveled a long way to get to this nail shop, because my daughter's raved so much about the nice job that they do. So I began to get my nails done every 2 weeks. I realized they treat African American customer's much different, each visit noticing little subtle attitudes towards customer's, but what was the last straw was I waited for 45 mins. and a Caucasian woman came 20 mins after me was serviced before me... I felt like it was back in the 1940's or something, it was a very humiliating feeling to say the least. The owner tried to explain that I was next for this nail tech, that already had someone?? Decided to give this place a second try since it is close to my house and they are open on Monday's which is my only day off. This visit just confirmed my original thoughts. Was asked to pick out a polish from their horrible selection of off brand, watered down and old polish. Was put in the chair with cold water and left for 25 mins to soak. Gentlemen does my pedicure, no questions asked, barely speaks to me. Clips my toenails but does not file them to make them even and not sharp. Uses a scraper (pulls it out of a random drawer) along with a USED pumice stone to take care of the bottom of my feet. Scraps and scrubs with a ridiculous amount of pressure. Hurting the tops of my toes. Puts me under the dryer, waits a min and then says "you pay me now" Yes it's only $26 but you only get about $5 worth of service read more

Decided to come here after work and try it out since I moved to the area and its close. I walked in and was told to pick a color before they even know what I was getting done. I told them I need a pedi and gel nails they said ok no wait. I sat in the pedi chair for about 10 min waiting to be helped. A guy came over said nothing and just pulled my foot out of the tub and began the pedicure. He was very rough and not friendly. The massage time was upon me and this is my favorite part however it was TERRIBLE! The massage lasted maybe 2 min in total. I looked at him and asked about the massage he just said ok then continued to get my toes ready to paint. The paint job was sloppy. Now to my gel terrible mess. The manicure was awful he did not cut and hardly filed them down. He tore my cuticles on my fingers because more clients walked in so he picked up the pace on my manicure. He applied the gel sloppy getting it on my skin, and not removing it. Do not go here if you want a relaxing clean job done. Also super over priced for the crap job they did 50$ for garbage that is going to have to be redone. read more

I used to LOVE Queens Nails, they were quick, efficient & affordable... However, the last three manicures I've gotten (I always get shellac) have chipped significantly within the first few days (I even experienced chopping only hours after receiving my manicure). While they will always fix my nails I don't have time to constantly go get my nails fixed! I gave them one last shot a few days ago and again, my nails are already chipping significantly (my shellac manicures typically last 8-10 days before they start chipping). I will not be returning to Queens which is a shame as it's right down the street from my house. read more
