Excellent powder dip manicure by Emily Color: #241

I travel the country for work and have em had manicures from NYC to California and more than 40 states and abroad and Emily at Top Nails in Southfield is excellent! I'll be back!

I tied Top Nails after seeing good reviews on Yelp and my regular nail tech being unavailable for an extended period. I simply required a gel Polish removal and regular manicure. The staff was nice, but their technique for gel removal was unusual. They used a soaking method with drill, even when asked to wrap, scrap and buff. The drill left my nail beds damaged and I didn't continue on to the manicure after the team member used only rubbing alcohol to sterilize tools from their station. I would caution anyone from utilizing Top Nails services.

They are very nice customer service oriented and make you feel right at home as soon as you walk in the door. I will definitely go back

I had another beautiful experience visiting the salon yesterday! Rather than lie to me like most salons do, recommending a fill in when it wasn't necessary, Lisa suggested that I get a repolish! Again, v didn't let me down! I get so many compliments on the color of my nails and she still did everything possible to make my hands feel good by massaging them even with a repolish! I love this shop! VEE and LISA, you ROCK‼

I just left this salon and realized how terrible my nails looked in other lighting and after a closer look. My right hand (which I paid more attention to) doesn't look as horrible, but a first grader could have did my left hand better. I'm pissed I spent $35 on the worst fill in/color job I ever had, and tipped $7. I have never had someone botch my nails so bad I'm appalled and I'm now at another salon regretting not taking another look because I refused to walk around like this!!!! Unbelievable and I can't believe this place has 4 star reviews.

The burn mark from aggressively filing the nail down

It seems like they lose stars every time I go now. I'm very particular about how my nails are done, as stated in previous reviews, and I really care more about the HEALTH of my nails than the time it takes to actually do it. I don't mind spending an hour and a half in the nail salon if that means waiting for a nail tech who KNOWS what they're doing. The day I went was the day before I was headed to vacation. I got a shellac pedicure, but instead of my usual color, I decided to go with a baby pink instead. The nail tech who did it did a very sloppy job and it was uneven when you looked at it closely. It was my fault I didn't say anything, but I also didn't want to waste his time and have him start it all over again and still do the same mediocre work. Since it was the day before my vacation, I decided to get an acrylic manicure as well just so I can have a pretty set before arriving in a sunny city. I got a French ombre set, coffin-shape. Everything was fine until the nail tech was filing the sides of my nails down and pretty much burned my skin from trying to file it down so much. He literally hurt me and tried to blame it on my "sensitive skin". I started bleeding. It looked good, but it wasn't worth the pain. At this point, I would only go back if I am able to get the owner to do my nails. The guy in the back on the left side of the shop was way too aggressive and left me with a bad experience. I will give them a chance to salvage their reputation again... But as of right now, I'm good.

My nails have never looked better than when I walk out of this place. Of course you end up sitting in different chairs with different technicians every time. But the outcome is always the same! Employees are willing to do any kind of design. Everyone is super friendly!

So....I believe I finally found my nail salon!! Tucked away in the Kroger shopping plaza off 12 mile and Evergreen; I honestly never realized it was there until I went on another hunt for a salon to better meet my needs. I've had a hard time finding a salon since moving from Atlanta to the Detroit area. There always seems to have been a few non-negotiable things I encounter with other salons in the area that made me stop spending coin with them. I like shops to be laid back, friendly, decent polish selection, techs who are on trend with current nail shapes/art, and not too much urban drama. My first experience fulfilled all my needs. Not going to lie, initially nervous, cause most of their clientele was older and/or getting super short nails....sooooooo in my head I'm thinking "girl bye!" In the end, I wasn't disappointed and will be going back!!! I suggest setting an appointment, if time is important to you. (I get my nails done on my lunch break, cause it's hard for me to find someone to watch my kids after work) Now that I see they can do the current basics, I plan on getting some type of design for the holidays!

Have had amazing experiences here. Came in to get my nails filled and shaped to almonds with a purple and white ombré. My technician did a amazing job, and I loved the finished product :) everyone is nice here and the over all atmosphere is very chill and welcoming. Highly recommend !

Nice that this place is right by work, it's quick and not too packed. Now I know why they don't get too busy. Nail tech took about an hour for a shellac fill and charged me $40.. Nails didn't look too shabby until I left and looked at them in the sunlight, horrific. Place is not that nice either. Nice people tho, wouldn't go again unless I was desperate.

I had a terrible experience at a different "nicer" shop that was way more expensive. I was unsure about coming to top nails before because their reviews were iffy but since coming here, I won't go anywhere else. Their prices are fair and they are also super nice and friendly, plus the service is always great.

I travel for work and often get my nails done while on the road. This was my first time using Top Nails, but hopefully not my last! Nail tech was friendly and efficient. I am pleased with how my nails turned out!

Disappointing Experience I had never been to Eco Nails…read morebefore, but I had a gift card and booked an appointment the day before leaving for a cruise. I was really looking forward to a relaxing experience -- but unfortunately, it was a letdown from the start. I had specifically booked a dip manicure and a regular pedicure over the phone. When I arrived, the salon was very busy, and I stood there awkwardly, unsure of where to go, until I finally approached the front desk myself. After confirming my appointment, the receptionist just walked away without giving me any direction. I eventually browsed the polish selection to pass the time and managed to find a seat. I had to ask someone about dip color options. The selection was limited, and the color I actually wanted wasn't available -- not a great start. I waited over 30 minutes past my scheduled appointment before someone -- who never introduced herself -- came to get me for a pedicure. Confusion continued when I was told another technician (whose name I never got) would actually be doing my service instead. I then sat for another 20 minutes while the water in the pedicure tub went cold before she finally arrived. The pedicure itself felt rushed and, unfortunately, I had to trim my toenails again just days later. Still, I wouldn't have complained -- except the manicure made things worse. Then came the manicure -- the most frustrating part. I was told I didn't book enough time for a dip manicure, even though that's what I requested when I made the appointment. The technician offered to stay late (in a way that made me feel like I was inconveniencing her), and since we didn't have time to remove my old dip properly AND do a dip manicure, she recommended a "new" method -- I think it was a type of shellac that started with a D. She promised it would last longer and make my nails stronger than dip. That was absolutely not the case. Within a week, the polish started peeling. My nails were weaker than they've ever been. At this point, before my cruise was even over, my nails were chipping and splitting so badly I had to cut them all down. And this whole experience cost $95 before tip. Overall, I was really disappointed. The service felt disorganized, the quality didn't match the price, and my nails were worse off than when I came in. I definitely won't be returning, and I can't recommend Eco Nails based on this experience.
