This place is awesome. I decided to get a simple manicure and pedicure and found Nas Salon. The salon is very clean and cozy. Everyone was friendly and I was in and out in a very reasonable time. Even without getting no-chip, my nails have held up quite well. The nail technician that I had did a very nice and detailed job and I feel totally comfortable in coming here again. Parking around the area is metered, but I came during a weekday and it was not busy at all. There are also plenty of places you can find to park. All of the staff is super friendly, accommodating and very sweet! The environment is quaint, relaxing and inviting. After 10 years of coming to this location, sadly I am done. The new management is terrible. I am sad about this decision as I enjoy the ladies that work here and have built relationships with them. I have been charged extra without being told of the additional fees for the service twice in one month. Once was for using more than 2 colors, the second because they "fixed" a nail (they used one coat of a strengthener). I shared my feedback with the new owner the first time that if she informed people prior to the service, it will not be an issue. Tonight. she did it again and when I shared the same feedback, she spoke to a staff member in another language about my reaction. She is rude to her customers and her staff. She is unprofessional and did nothing to remedy my feedback or make good on silly charges. These guys are great! I've never walked out of the salon unhappy with my nails. The selection of colors is extensive and the polishes are top notch, I haven't had them chip unexpectedly even when there are longer stretches of time between my visits. The salon is very clean and has a great atmosphere. They offer you a choice of beverages while you're getting pampered. The iced tea is really refreshing. Yesterday I received a full gel tip with a no chip mani from Kelly. She was amazing! She took her time and paid attention to every detail. I don't know how I've gone my whole life without having a no-chip manicure! I usually do my own nails, but I didn't want to deal with chipped polish while on vacation. My nails had to look good while deep-sea fishing! It's also nice to treat yoself and get pampered once in awhile. I opted for a bright, Barbie pink with silver glitter because I love obnoxiously fun nails. My nails were so awesome that they attracted a dozen yellow tail snapper and a black fin tuna! I almost caught a 50 lb wahoo, but it put up too much a fight for lil ol me and I didn't want to lose my arms, especially since my nails looked so good. My manicure lasted over a week, but I had to take it off because my nails grow abnormally fast and the gap between the polish and cuticle was showing. If I wasn't so weird about my nails, it could have easily lasted another week. The staff is super friendly, they offer coffee and tea (BYOB as well) and you get a small discount for paying in cash. So sad to write this review because I usually LOVE this place, but my last experience has completely turned me off from going here. I called at 4, asking if an appointment for 2 pedicures at 5 would be ok or if that would be too late, knowing that the place closes at 6. Regardless, I showed up 20 mins early, just to make sure that we wouldn't be a burden & keep the shop open after their normal hours. The pedicure was amazing, as usual. My regular manicurist at Cuticle was booked so the only other place near me that offers Dazzle Dry was Nas. Easy to book, atmosphere is relaxing, affordable pricing, but even the next day my cuticles did not recover and so I continue icing them. I knew something was up when my feet were put back into the water and I felt so much burning, but figured it might but be the oils or heat of the bath (or were my toes that bad??) That was until we eventually did my hands and I could see how hard she was pushing my cuticles back with the scraper, even to the point where my thumb started and didn't stop bleeding! It was so incredibly painful! Then she left and set a timer down and didn't come back. Not to say I was done, not to check me out, nothing... I looked over the nails and noticed one wasn't even filed smooth, so had to flag someone down to fix it then ask if I was done. Got home and saw the thumb hadn't been filed smooth either so did it myself. Next day I notice the edges aren't even painted so it looks like I have subtle white tips; three of my toes had blood around the cuticles too (that was the burning I felt) and my pinky is still sore 2 days later. Summary: Except for the fact that they didn't honor my appointment, I would definitely recommend this salon. First, and most importantly, it is extremely clean. All of their tools are wrapped and sanitized for each customer. Second, they have a great selection of polish brands and colors. Third, they did a great job on my mani and pedi. Finally, I love the way the place is decorated. Long story: My friend called and made an appointment for two mani/pedis. We arrived and they had the pedi tubs and chairs ready. Terrible experience! My pedicure lasted 10 minutes and has chips on both toe nails. Lady was not friendly at all and almost all my nails are smudged or chipped. I had no polish on my toes nails when I went in. The pedicure part was 10 minutes, painting my toes was 5 minutes. So overall 15 minutes for a pedicure still doesn't seem right to me. I've had multiple pedicures so it was clear that the girl was rushing through. On top of that, everyone else in the salon had a glass of wine/water/tea, I was not asked once if I needed/wanted anything and had to ask for a glass of wine. I came here because my roommate told me you provided good service and even provided a relaxing glass of wine with a 40 minute classic pedicure. So obviously I was getting poor service. This salon is super friendly and cute! They don't do acrylics (as most places don't anymore) but they do have this new gel nail extender which is safer than acrylic and just as durable! I'll be trying that out next time I go in. I got a gel mani over some old grown out acrylics I don't want to get removed. The last salon I went to with these old stubs was complaining that the manicure would look a lot better if i got them removed (he's was totally right) but I would rather let them grow out slowly. The technician at Nas was a good sport about it and filed them so smoothly, you can't even tell there still there! A couple of caveats: she cut me a couple times when doing my cuticles, and when she took the nail clipper to my nails, she didn't notice how close they were to my nail bed which was shockingly painful. I came to Nas a couple of weeks ago to get a pedicure and a no-chip manicure. Overall it was great service. The woman doing my nails (her name escapes me but I will update later if it comes to me! Jessie? AH, I can't remember) did a fantastic job. She chatted with me a little bit but mostly let me relax. The place looked clean and tidy, which I thoroughly appreciate. Also, I loved the assortment of colors! I'm new to the city and was *very* surprised at how expensive it was to get a pedicure and gel manicure. When all was said and done, I ended up paying $75 (including tip; and I paid in cash so you get a small discount for that, which is great). This is compared to the $50 I spent in Washington DC, so it was pretty shocking. I am looking at my nails now almost 2 weeks later, and they look nearly perfect--which is awesome and helps take away the sting of the price. The other thing that I will not dock points for but is a point to make--the owner was having a conversation with another small business owner right next to me about how they hate yelp and the people who dis businesses on Yelp. I totally get it! People can be jerks on Yelp. However, I found Nas because of Yelp...so don't hate on Yelp and especially not in front of customers. I was greeted by not just the receptionist but EVERYONE! awww everyone is soo sweet and nice! I'm writing this as my favorite manicurist, Kelly, does an extraordinary job cleaning each and every cuticle on my toes, that's right my toes... Nas doesn't just do your normal run-of-the-mill pedicures, and after going here for the last year and a half I feel cheated when I'm back in the burbs and forced to go somewhere else. All their manicurist do an exceptional job and take their time, rather than making you feel like you're being rushed through, or the product of an assembly line. And the end result is worth the relaxing 45+ minutes of sitting in that magical robot chair. I don't care who you are, but getting a pedicure is one of the top 3 best feelings in this world, arguably top 2 if Kelly's the one who's the one doing it ;) But seriously, all the girls are good. I've seen other "tips" commenting on the cost of their no chip manicures. Yes, they're $40, and yes they're worth every penny! Again, I reiterate how they take their time and really pay attention to detail. They will never allow you to walk out with polish on your skin or cuticles and the polish lasts so long (I'm attributing it to their technique and fact that the don't skimp on the coats). After 2 weeks, I still get compliments on my nails-- no joke! Other bonuses: super nice and clean! Everything is sanitized and the girls wear gloves. They give you a complimentary beverage and don't care if you bring in your own wine to drink while getting your nails done. The girls are social and normal, unfortunately for Kelly she knows some secrets I haven't even told my friends and is always makes me laugh during every appointment. You can text them for an appointment in advance during business hours and they will get back to you rather quickly! Just plain fabulous. I live in the South Loop, but decided to try Nas after reading so many great reviews on their no-chip manicures. I tried no-chip for the first time at my usual salon, but was slightly disappointed. My nails didn't chip, but the polish didn't go all the way down to my cuticle, so it looked like there was outgrowth from the start. The polish also wasn't quite even, so I just wasn't thrilled. But I did like the idea of no-chip, so I decided to give it another shot - this time at Nas. I made an appointment for tonight at 6, which I was able to do through text. Unfortunately, I was delayed getting out of work and was 20 minutes late for my appointment. I was nervous that they wouldn't be able to take me, but it wasn't a problem. They have a HUGE no-chip selection. Seriously. I chose a sparkly red polish and my technician (whose name I didn't catch) got to work. She did a great job in removing my old no-chip and was quick but thorough in applying my new polish. She made sure that everything was even and it went down to the base of my nail (hurray!). My nails look awesome. The color is so pretty and sparkly, and I'm thrilled that it will last me a few weeks. A no-chip manicure is $40 (including removal of a previous no-chip), and I'll definitely be making this my regular spot. Everyone who was working was super nice and the place is relaxing and clean. I came upon the Yelp review for this after a very frustrating morning driving out to the suburbs for a manicure, only to realize I had forgotten my credit card at home. This salon is pretty good. My no chip manicure and regular pedicure stay on FOREVER, which I personally love. Yes they're a little thick but I'd rather that than have them peel off in a week. They're also very skilled at specialty designs. The only thing I didn't like was the eyebrow wax which came out too thin for my taste, even though I had asked for only a touch up.
