As Pumpkin Spice Latte season descends upon us, my pH level rises closer to 14, making me feel more basic than ever. And what goes perfectly with an infinity scarf and a messy top bun? Nails that are on fleek, of course. I'm kidding, I swear I'm not that basic. I don't even own Uggs. And I've only gotten my nails done 3x in my lifetime. 2 of those times were at Nailed It Studios though so I feel it's time to leave them a review. Nailed It Studios is a tiny, appointment-only, cash-only, 3-woman shop, though I think they're hiring more nail techs to keep up with their insane demand. They're located in the weirdly isolated Langham Square mall on Kennedy but are thriving thanks to their impressive Instagram feed and what I'm guessing is a lot of referrals. When your nails last more than a month without chipping/lifting, you're bound to get questions on where you got them done. I got my nails done by Maggie, then Margie. Maggie is extremely sweet but was a little rough when filing one of my fingers. It didn't hurt per say, but it wasn't comfortable, and I left with a bit of swelling that lasted for 2 days. Same thing happened to my friend. That was literally the only flaw though, as my nails survived for the 6 weeks afterwards, with no lifting or dulling. My second time with Margie was even better. I'm a bad customer because I fidget and tend to stiffen up my hands a lot, due to them being perched in permanent typing position. She was patient with me and the nails turned out perfectly, no discomfort at all. That's why she's the boss. Her marble designs are legendary. Bookings are done conveniently on Whatsapp and first timers need to drop a $20 deposit, in person or through e-transfer. I love this. It ensures I have a transcript of my bookings and I get to ask questions and get quotes on designs I find on Pinterest. They take bookings one month in advance. Margie runs the Whatsapp and she's very responsive. Pricing is extremely fair. They only use gel and it starts at $30. $2/nail for matte, $5 for special polishes, and $6-$12+ for intricate designs. $10 to remove polish. Prices are transparent, reasonable, and you pay for quality stuff. They also give a stamp card which gives you 20% off after your 10th visit. As a woman who appreciates nice nails, grande lattes, and a good pun, Nailed It is the perfect place for me to pumpkin spice up my life and my Instagram feed. I went to Margie from a recommendation on my Instagram reels showcasing a set she did. What a pro! I really went in there with little clue of what I actually wanted just some general pointers. Her care in the details and also the conversation was fantastic and really helped the 2-hour appointment for my bridal set go by in a flash. She is very fairly priced for the work she puts into the nails. I've visited Nailed It twice now to get gel nails done. It's located in the upper floor of the T&T plaza, all the way down at the back. Just follow the signs for the unit numbers and you'll be able to find it. It's a tiny little shop but cutely decorated with grey gold and white accents. They specialize in gel nails but they also do pedicures and lash extensions. I've never had a manicure done here, just the gel nail application. The first time I got extensions done and a single colour and I was pretty pleased but I didn't get the almond shape I wanted. It ended up being an oval shape. It was fine but not exactly what I wanted. The nail tech working on me said it wasn't possible but I couldn't understand why. The second time I visited, I had Margie working on my nails and she gave me the best nails I've ever had. She spent so much time on the removal of my old nails and she was super gentle when filing and shaping my nails. She was so particular on the shape and kept checking with me to make sure I was pleased. Her dedication to her art is amazing. She also helped recommend and pairing of colours that worked well together for my nails. Margie is also very responsive on whatsapp and gives quotes, rates and takes appointment bookings on there. I swear every girl in Markham goes here and there's good reason to. Booking is easy - through whatsapp and if you're a first time customer, you pay a $20 deposit, which is understandable since they're so booked up that if you no-show, you waste everyone's time. The shop is small and decorated so cutely. I think it's the only aesthetic place upstairs of langham sq. They also only do gel nails so you don't have to worry about that huge 'acrylic/gel' scam that every other nail shop tries to pull. (Google it if you don't know, you were probably scammed before). I find Margie and Maggie to be super quick in their work and it's clean too. They have a lot of unique tools and supplies that I've never even seen most nail shops have and the way they do it is definitely art. (Margie's marble is on some other level) I honestly believe nailed it has the BEST designs and BEST executed nail art in the GTA. (Just check @naileditstudios on Instagram) At some points, Maggie was a tiny bit rough on the filing part but it didn't really hurt, just caught me off guard. They were finished with my nail job in under an hour and half, which was impressive because I'm always so extra and have to do the extensions, gel, and some design. Prices are reasonable too. I am super picky with my nails and hate when the gel touches my cuticles - didn't happen here !! It was difficult to book with Margie the owner because her schedule was always full but I finally got an appointment with her to do my prom nails. Booking was then pretty easy, I gave my $20 deposit to secure my slot. I got extensions and couldn't decide between coffin or almond shape. Margie was really nice and showed me one finger to make sure I liked it before she continued. I've been cut by the file before at other salons but she was very gentle. I ended up doing a white ombré and I was so impressed with the amount of effort and detail. She actually didn't use one of those air spray things and still got the ombré really seamless. I was pretty happy with how they turned out and had a good time here. I like how she gave suggestions but didn't pressure me to do more expensive designs (broke high school days). Before my trip to NY last week, I went to nails 1010 on Stouffville road to get a color fill. They were awful, one of my fingers wasn't even fully coloured. After my NY trip, I was itching to take my nail Polish off. I had always been following nailed it studio on Instagram and loved every design that would pop up on my dash... and since I had a day off, I decided to contact Margie (the owner), and see if there was an opening. She responded promptly and said that one of her girls had an opening, so I took it! I had to wait a little bit, but I didn't mind because I could tell that the nail tech wanted to do her best for the previous customer. I appreciated that. Ruth (my nail tech) kept apologizing to me for the wait, but I didn't mind at all! I could tell they are attentive to every single girl and I can't get mad at that! I showed Ruth and picture of how I wanted my nails done, and she nailed it. While she was filing my nails, she'd ask me to let her know if I felt any discomfort at all. While she was shaping my nails, she make sure I was okay. And even while putting the gel on, she'd ask me to let her know if anything seemed off to me. They really have top notch service. The studio is quite small and with lots of bodies inside, it felt more spacious than it appeared. My nail gal was Ruth and she did an amazing job. I had wanted to get a pineapple drawn on my finger and she did her best to make the pineapples look perfect. She even recommended which nails I should put it on and asked if I minded that it was smaller than the picture I offered because I opted not to get extensions put on. The prices are also very reasonable and for nail art, you can send in a pic to get a quote before booking. You need to give a $20 deposit to solidify your spot. I wanted to try out a new nail salon and had heard really good things about this nail shop on social media and yelp. However, my experience was a very disappointing one. I was scrolling through their Instagram feed one day and noticed a new post announcing open appointment slots and decided to contact them via text message (the post said to contact via texting or WhatsApp). I messaged them around 2 pm about booking TWO appointments and one of the workers there replied pretty quickly. There were three time slots open: 2:00 / 4:00 / 5:15 I made it very clear that I was asking to book TWO separate appointments, one manicure appointment for myself at 4:00 and a second pedicure appointment at 5:15 for my partner. The worker I was texting with understood, and ended our interaction with "ok see you both at 4pm and 5:15." Fast forward to 3:45, when my partner and I had just arrived at the plaza this nail shop is located in. It was our first time going to this particular plaza in Markham, so it took us 5 minutes to find the exact building and then unit number of the shop. We were literally 3 stores away from the nail shop storefront, and I get a phone call from a name and number I've never seen. I picked up and it was the nail shop. The worker I spoke to never gave me her name but informed me that actually they do not have the 4:00 appointment available - only the 5:15. I looked at the time and it was 3:50! She told me they could only fit me in for the 5:15 for one appointment - either me or my partner, not both of us. I was beyond frustrated with their lack of transparency and poor customer service. Not once during that phone call, did the employee apologize for their mistake. They waited until 10 minutes before my booking to let me know that they were overbooked and couldn't follow their own schedule. We wasted time and gas driving there...for nothing. I texted them back informing them I wanted to cancel the latter 5:15 booking. Only then, after losing a customer, did someone actually say "sorry about that." If they had contacted me earlier or apologized during that very last minute phone call, it would've helped reduce some of the negativity and frustration of the situation. After this extremely disappointing mess, I will not be going back to try this place. read more

My first time here. I think my experience was okay, it wasn't bad, but I wouldn't say it's the best either. I think they have good techniques for nail arts and design. I think the marble is quite good. She spends a lot of time doing the nail art which is good. Price is fair for the work they do. I personally didn't enjoy the service as much. I felt judged. They ran out of polish on the colours I wanted, so she was really nice to test to find similar ones. She tested on 3 of my nails, and her coworker commented on how nice she was when people only often test 2 . Felt like sarcasm . I just didn't think the comment was necessary, since they ran out of colours or didn't have enough to do a full set of nails. I think 3-4 polishes either ran out or didn't have enough :( read more

The reason why I go back to her every time is because Margie puts a lot of care and personal touches to each and every person. She ensures that you are satisfied with her work and if you're not, speak up and she'll fix it until you're satisfied with her. I've watched her work grown over the years. She'll tell you if the design will work with your nails or not. I have small nails and it's always difficult to put certain designs on them. She'd let me know alternative options that would still achieve the same or similar look. As she has opened her store, and many other customers like myself have followed her wherever, it is definitely hard to make an appointment. She is so sought out after. Because more people are discovering her, and returning customers go back to her, there's just so many people wanting appointments. She only has one pair of hands. Price: very very reasonable for the quality of work. I can't rave enough about how good this place is. I never got to meet Margie (the owner) but she was so friendly on WhatsApp . She explained everything so well and she's super patient and understanding. I got Ellie as my manicurist today and she is absolutely wonderful! I have been coming to Margie for a little over a year now, and I have never found a reason to go elsewhere. First timers - I was once in your shoes....scared, and unsure, but believe me, you will not receive anything but absolute quality from this place. Margie takes a lot of pride in her work, as demonstrated with her attention to detail when shaping my nails and creating the designs. She is very knowledgeable, up-to-date with the newest trends and provides great advice for indecisive people like myself. I work with my hands a lot and my nails stand the test of time - the gel lasts from one visit to the other, no chips or cracks. With my busy work schedule, I am so glad nail maintenance is something I don't have to worry about. Her work is purely phenomenal, just look through her Instagram, pictures are worth a thousand words. On the note of customer service - Margie has always been very accommodating and professional. She respects her customers and appreciates the time they take to visit her. Speak up if you're uncomfortable or unsatisfied during your appointment, and she will do everything within her power to fix it. This business is still growing, and there are only two nail techs working - appointments get booked up and unfortunately you may not get the appointment time you are looking for. Came here for the first time with friend that recommended it and i really needed it as i got an awful manicure two weeks ago and had just peeled them off. The place was nicely decorated and very clean. My nails were very smooth, not lumpy and were pretty thin for gel nails which i was really happy about as every time i get gel nails elsewhere, I can't use my nails to scratch anything.... Best thing of it all THE GEL NAIL ACTUALLY LASTS WITHOUT ANY PEELING. I'm about 5 weeks in and my nails still look amazing ( and they're not peeling thank god ). I've been a client of Margie's for 5 years. I've followed her from her previous shop to now her own business. I live in downtown Toronto so I make the drive (1 1/2 hours in traffic just to see her) She is the best nail tech I've been to by far and often I leave it up to her to make her own designs for me. I work with my hands so she makes extra care to add an extra layer of gel or accommodate me when I'm in a rush or need a desperate fill. Regarding some previous reviews made... 1. Appts with her need to booked in advance because the shop only consists of two nail techs and they are very busy (which is an indication of their good work) 2. This is not a spa, it is a gel nail salon, so if you want a manicure and pedicure you should go to a proper spa to do so. They specialize in custom gel nails at a VERY reasonable price, most gel nail salons DO not do manicures so it is very common. 3. If you are being unreasonable and rude, like any human she will be rude back (keep in mind she works 6 days a week so often when she's booking your appt she is also with a client which is why she is short with you so she is not taking time off her current client, text msg is the best way to reach her) Honestly if you do not go to Margie it's your loss and not hers she is very busy and booked up anyways. I'm probably quite a difficult customer since my fingers always tense up and I'm told to relax myself. I appreciate that no matter how difficult I can be Margie has been truly patient with me and has never lost her temper. Not only is she patient, she's also a perfectionist. She will take her time out to file my nails and look at each one to make sure they're exactly identical. It's hard to get a booking sometimes and that's why I usually book a month ahead. She's definitely worth the wait. I have been to other nail salons when she's unavailable and it's definitely one of my biggest regrets. None of the girls here rush and they don't cheap out on their products either. Going to other salons after 2-3 weeks I start seeing the gel lift off my nails. The application was uneven and there were large ridges at my cuticles. I expected her to file down the gel and make it smooth, but she just left it like that. I had to argue with her and Margie to get her to file the nails down at the cuticles and make them more natural-looking, and even then she seemed upset about it. Even though the bumps aren't there anymore, the rest of the application is a little uneven. It doesn't look bad, but it definitely wasn't the quality of work that I was expecting. All this considered, I would go back there. Other than that incident, their service was great. They were efficient and friendly. This is definitely my go to place for Gel nails. With that said though if you want a full on manicure, cuticles cleaned and dead skin removed this is not the place! What I love about this is place is that the work they provide is very precise and the gel application is very strong. I've only had one nail break but that was because I went bowling and did some reckless shit. Anyways, I've been three times and I've never got a chance to work with Margie but I contacted her through whatsapp to book appointments and get quotes and she was very professional. Granted she will not reply within minutes because she does not answer her phone if she is with a client which i respect! Points to her though, when I broke my nail I texted her at 10pm and she replied! No other place would give a damn for sure! So the first time i went to Nailed It I got Maggie and she did a marble and 2 colour. The only critic I had about that set was that I had one nail thicker than the rest and it was noticeable to me anyways especially since the gel was not as close to my cuticles as I would have liked. But the marble design was well executed. The shaping the first time was okay..I had to reshape one or two nails afterwards. But I got Maggie the third time I went and the set she gave me was a lot more to my liking. The shaping is perfect and the gel is thinner and closer to my cuticles. Maybe I just caught her on an off day. She's super sweet though. I got to work with Ellie once too. Amazing work, gel was thin and nicely shaped. I had no complaints about her work. But she's on Maternity leave right now :( Pricing is super reasonable: $30 base including 2 colours, extra colours is $5 each, designs are $5+ depending on the type of design. Extension is $1 per nail. They are upfront about the pricing so you can decide before getting it down. They have so many different types of designs, anything you show them on instagram or pinterest it can be done. I tend to try to book 2 weeks in advance but I think I might start booking even earlier because they are so busy. But what sucks it that some people cancel on them and then a spot I would have like gets opened up after I rearrange my plans. After doing some thorough research about this place, I decided to give it a try. I'm impressed with how my nails turned out, however - the customer service is in definite need of an improvement. And this is SO important for a client based business, maintaining a professional yet friendly experience is what will attract customers to continue coming back. I won't lie, if something upsets or bothers me I will speak up about it especially when I am paying for my services. Margie was shaving my nail beds and holy, I kid you not she would NOT stop shaving the same spot. She shaved till it stung really bad & I politely told her to be a little more gentle in which she abruptly told me that's how it's suppose to feel. Lmao so you're telling me that it's suppose to hurt to get your nails done? Don't think so. So I felt annoyed, and told her that it hurt. In which she responded, "I know what I'm doing" in a very rude tone. Okay, but do you know my pain threshold? I never questioned her professionalism, I simply told her to be more gentle because she was shaving off too much of my nail beds. I understand she's the owner and all, but I also don't think it's respectful to change the song or take calls in the middle of painting my nails. At least from my past experiences, the ladies either take calls after working on their current clients, or get someone who ISN'T with a client to respond to calls. Either way, I will admit that she is very precise in her work and made sure each nail was filed accordingly. She didn't make my nails super thick with gel as other places normally do, but until someone can prove that their customer service has changed, I don't see myself coming back here in the meantime. read more

The girls there all do a wonderful job with making sure your nails are exactly what you want. They can do both simple and intricate designs. What I love most is how their gel application is thin and lasts me at least a good 4 weeks. read more

OVERALL The logistics of trying to book an appointment are absolutely ridiculous and more tedious than they should be. You receive only a design, not a manicure. Hygiene - questionable, didn't see any cleaning in between clients. Design was simple - matte stiletto solid red with a cluster of rhinestones on one side of a nail on each hand. Cost - $54 + tip. Location is a mission to find the first time around. Found the owner to not be the friendliest, as stayed in other reviews as well. Nail design - 4.5 stars Custom service - 1 (this is huge) Overall - 2 KNITTY GRITTY The design I received was quite simple and was well executed for the most part. My nails are natural however two of them broke and needed a tip (gel) and one ended up being crooked and wider in certain parts. It wasn't terribly noticeable, I only noticed myself after getting home however it was irksome. As a previous poster has stated, you only receive a design. I had gone into the appointment expecting a manicure or some clean up. It was fine. I enjoyed my nails and that they lasted as long as they did. Polish still hasn't chipped (4.5 weeks later) though understandable a few of the stones have fallen off. This was the main reason I was looking to come back. APPOINTMENTS I understand taking a $20 deposit from your first time clients to ensure that they are on time (deposit is forfeited if you are more than 15 mins late) however give your clients the same respect for their time. I arrived on time only to find Margie was running 30 minutes behind schedule. I did not even receive an apology. You can only book appointments via whatsapp, for one month at a time. Which isn't really convenient for those of us who aren't on our phones all the time, trying to reply back and schedule an appointment. I tried to book an appointment on the 5th of the month for sometime in the month and there were no appointments. I asked for an appointment for following month only to be told that she is not booking for that month as of yet. So I am supposed to book in a free for all and not be guaranteed an appointment time for any time in the future? When do appointments become available? They don't even have a website I can consult. That was pretty much the last straw for me, I prefer an easier booking process and as my designs are not as elaborate as others, a full manicure salon will be better suited. my go to nail place! I get my nails done with Margie and I ALWAYS leave happy & get so many compliments. Only thing is that its hard to get an appointment because they are so busy. (I guess harder with Margie especially) but completely understandable. (It's their talent & creativity that makes it worth the wait!) Margie pays so much attention to detail; even if you are just getting colour done, she'll make sure that the shape is perfect and that its not thick. I very rarely break my nails and I'm pretty aggressive with them since I work in the food industry, too! When I first saw the reviews, I thought it would be a fantastic place for a first manicure, but once I saw the actual place, it changed my mind completely. It's a very small place with 1 table and the two ladies work on the same table. Because of this, I wasn't expecting much. If you're expecting a full manicure here, look elsewhere. It is design ONLY. Hygiene: They do NOT use new tools on you. The girl (Maggie) working on my nails used the file the owner just used on her client on me because she couldn't find hers. They also use the same drills for every client that walks through the door and didn't change her gloves before working on me nor do clients (or workers) wash their hands before the "manicure". Talk about gross. Manicure (paint job): She didn't file my nails very straight. I only realized this when I got home that one of my nails were slanted. Also, since I wasn't expecting a manicure, I would have thought she would have at least pushed my cuticles back before painting. WRONG. I still have so much space on my nail. And of course, no creams/lotions or exfoliators. EDIT: the gel polish was applied on VERY thick. Not enough to burn in the light, but enough that they were bulges on my nails. Overall, I feel that the lack of hygiene turned me off a lot from this place and I will be going elsewhere for a proper manicure. You would think that nail techs or any person working on clients would have basic knowledge on hygiene. I could have done this myself (one colour and a design) instead of paying $48 for someone else to do it on me. I would rather pay $50 for a proper full manicure. read more

As I was new the the area coming from Toronto this was the 5th nail place I went to try. I was encouraged by the positive reviews on Yelp and their IG account that I would have better luck there. Sadly, I was wrong. I have been getting gel done for 2.5 years and took them off to get a new full set. I have to be honest, these girls are great at doing designs and that's it. I showed my friends my nails and they laughed at me. EVERY SINGLE NAIL was a different shape, the polish was lumpy and streaky. My tips weren't put on properly so There was a gap underneath my nails. The girl was clearly trying really hard, but you could even tell SHE knew they were awful. I was there for over 2 hours for just a full set and regular polish. I, no joke, called my old Toronto nail tech and drove 45 minutes to get them fixed. He asked if they needed to go to the doctor because they were blind and laughed at what a terrible job they did. I don't mean to insult anyone working there but if you don't know how to do nails, you should tell the client you are unable to instead of wasting my time. She definitely gives her 100%; She'll make sure you're satisfied with the work. And if you're having a hard time to decide, she'll give you her professional suggestion and advice. Nailed It is crazy busy for her awesome work so make sure you book an appointment early! Make sure you text or whtsapp her and give her time to reply as she's always with a client.
