Came here to get my nails done on a whim. The nail tech was nice in the beginning, as she was alone by herself. When her other co worker came in, she sat right next to us and they started having a whole conversation in mandarin with each other. Her attention to detail is not the best, and when I was told to wash my hands, I noticed one finger had a chip already, and asked her very politely if she can fix that one corner; in mandarin she said I was meddlesome, which is pretty much the same saying in Cantonese, as she proceeded to fix my nail. Maybe if she had paid more attention to her own work and stopped talking and getting distracted with her co worker, then she wouldn't have done such a sloppy job. Now I understand why the other 3-4 nails salons on the same floor were busy, except for this one. Won't be back. read more

Hands down, my new go-to nail salon! I came in to this appointment not expecting much but honestly, my nail technician Lena surprised me with her skills. She's gentle and puts in a lot of time and effort to clean my cuticles and everything. She really puts in a lot of attention and detail to the work. I got bio-gel + extensions and it is the most evenly-layered gel placement I have ever seen/felt. Definitely recommend this salon! I haven't had other technicians there but Lena was more than enough to make me want to come back! read more

I recommend this place. I'd say it's my favorite nail salon place in Markham. They do an accurate job and listen very well. My nails came out perfect. I got the gel manicure ($45) and regular pedi ($28).... gel manicure - they did an absolute fantastic job. The regular pedi - it was another person doing it, she did a good job, but missed the sides, and when I pointed out to her, she didn't complain nor say anything to her staff. She listened. Their service was very accommodating. They're located in the Langham Mall on the second floor. TnT supermarket is located on the first floor and there was many great food, dessert and bbt places located in the plaza. Parking is limited and can be a drag, so I get drop off. read more

I came here to prepare for the holiday, as a disclaimer, I think it would be helpful if you spoke the language to avoid confusion (I think they mainly speak Mandarin). The base price of shellac is $38 and ombre is an extra $10-15. I asked for sparkles on my ring finger, but they got confused and made it all white initially. They tried to correct it to just make it the same as all the other fingers, but it was pretty rushed. In the third photo, it shows that there's a lot of paint on my fingertips that were not cleaned off. The last picture shows that part of the paint started cracking around the start of the second week, I have had other shellacs that's lasted longer. As well, this store is very small, there's only 3 chairs and you're sitting very close to the next customer. I've been looking for a new nail salon to do my nails so I looked up different places and found the Nail Lab. I gave it a try and love the end result. The lady did my nails with great care and time. She even gave recommendations when I was having trouble deciding. And even when I changed my mind half way, she was easy-going and had lots of patience to make sure the design turned out the way I wanted. Cathy did my nails, she was fluent in English, Cantonese and Mandarin which made communication really easy. Made an appointment at 12pm but I was running late so I ended up coming at 1pm and the girls were very flexible and they still let me come in for my appointment. I got uv gel which is $40 + tip extension $15 so I ended up paying $55 and the work that she did was absolutely amazing, she put on so much effort and she took her time to do my nails and they ended looking exactly the way I wanted. My new go-to place! Honestly the best service I've ever received at a nail salon. My nail tech was not only super attentive and took her time to do great work, she was the sweetest and best conversationalist ever! She even translated into English her Mandarin conversation with her co-worker so I wouldn't feel left out, so sweet! She even got me the name of the show I was watching on the tv so I could finish watching it later. The tv they so conveniently have behind the nail techs so you have something to do while getting your nails done btw, even if it's in Mandarin it's not hard to follow along. My nails have never looked better, my cuticles have never looked better, and I've never left a nail salon happier. Definitely call before or book an appointment because they're a small shop and have two nail techs at a time I believe. Also I think they're cash only or visa, but there's an ATM in the plaza. The shop is on the 2nd floor to the left when you get out of the elevator. For my 100th review it's going to be 5 star review whoooo! So I was in search of a new place that does shellac (because gel weakens my nails way too much). I used to go to another salon but my nail tech had a baby so I was in search once again. I remember seeing this place when I would wander around Langham square. The decor is something I always found memorable; so I decided to call them and book an appointment. They mandarin and English, I believe one girl also speaks Cantonese. But they were able to help me with in english and the girl on the phone was super nice. When I walked in for my first appointment all 3 girls were busy and I waited for maybe 10 minutes but she gave me the book of nails to look at in the meantime. There are not a lot of colour choices for shellac but I am a simple person, one colour and a sparkle. What I amazed by is the amount of hard work and detail they put into each session! My girl was Joey and she cleaned my nails meticulously getting every last dead skin bit. she took her time to clean it all up and make sure the shape was right. More time was spent on the nail care than the application but how can you be made about that?! The shellac that was applied was nice and thin not thick like other places. All fingers were applied evenly too even the sparkle fingers, usually those are a little thicker but nope not here! At the end I got a hot towel and a hand massage! There are some places that charge the same price but don't offer towel, massage or any cleaning of nails. There's no reason for me to go anywhere else. The price for the service and quality are a STEAL. I wound up tipping extra but Joey was so goddamn fabulous. When she runs late she's always so apologetic about it too. This was my first time coming to The Nail Lab. It was a bit difficult to find, but only if you're unfamiliar with the area which I am new to. I was looking for a good nail spot while temporarily in Markham and found The Nail Lab had amazing reviews. I gave it a try and was super impressed with the service and the outcome of my nails. Kathy was the one who looked after me. She was incredibly sweet and we had some small talk during my visit. She's very precise with her work and with that, uses every minute wisely. It did take about 1.5 hours, but it was well worth the wait. Although I had walked in and it seemed pretty quiet, it was far from it. This was my first time getting gel extensions and I think the nail tech did a wonderful job. My nail tech only spoke mandarin with an understanding of basic Cantonese, so it made communication a bit difficult but (with the help of my broken mandarin) I was able to have a conversation with her- and she was very kind and funny. After applying the glitter I had chosen she told me that she would layer a different one on top because the one I chose wasn't iridescent enough (AND BOY WAS THE ONE SHE CHOSE BEAUTIFUL) she even took the time to take each individual circular sparkle off the applicator with a brush and place them on my nails to make all the nails symmetrical!! The total came out to $60 (+$10 for glitter polish- I'm pretty sure she didn't charge me for the second glittrr), and I think she did an amazing job. She made me feel comfortable and despite the fact that she hadn't gotten to eat lunch yet (it was already 4:00), she didn't rush the job & took her time. read more

Went here to get my gel extensions removed as well as do gel on my natural nails. The lady was extra gentle after the filer got hot and I flinched. They kept touching up the shape of my nails and then the shape of my gel, even after my nails were painted they filed the nails again along the sides to keep the shape. Experience was good bc they were patient, even when I was indecisive and didn't know what colours to pick or even the nails shape I ended up going with. It took so long to finish my nails though, as I needrd to get extensions removed and filed down as well as a new layer of gel on top. Almost two hours, wish I had earbuds.. I went to this nail salon because of the good reviews, the area was clean but the quality of service was not good. When I called for my appointment the lady on the phone told me it was $58 for UV gel with two colours included, but when I got there they said it would be only $58 for one colour and extra if I want another. That wasn't too big of a deal so I stuck to one colour. The quality of the nail application however was very poor. The UV gel application was uneven, one nail had a dent in the UV gel once it was cured and the gel was not applied close to the cuticle so my nails look like bubble nails or fake nails I stuck on myself. I really wanted to like this place but unfortunately I was not happy with how my nails turned out and I will not be returning again. read more

I was excited to get my nails done here after reading the reviews. When I got there at my appointment time, they were finishing up with a client. I waited a little while - maybe 15 minutes, but boy am I grateful that I had to wait. When they were finishing up the previous client's nails, I noticed that the lady hung onto the disposable slippers that she had just taken off the previous client. I kept my eyes on them, and long and behold, when she was preparing to apply my toenail polish, she was about to put on the same disposable slippers that were on the previous clients. They appeared to be worn multiple times before. I had to stop her and ask for a new pair. She had to look around a little while before she was able to locate a new pair. From then on, I noticed that all the tools that she used were not new, including the nail files (she even had to use multiple ones because they were so worn down), the foot scrub, all of it! At the end of the day, they did a great job on my nails - she was thorough, took her time and listened to my requests, but cleanliness weighs really heavily for me, and because of that, I'm not going back to this place. The colour I chose was changed by the lady who did it for me as she preferred a different colour for me, which usually I'm open to suggestions but thought it was weird that she pushed something else on me. I ended up not liking it and she didn't even put enough coats for there to look like that there was nail polish on my nails, was such a waste of money. Also, the shellac literally chipped after 4 days. I think the most disappointing part was that it looked like nothing was on my nails since she didn't take the time to put enough coats and then also that the shellac chipped faster than the regular nail polish on my toes. AVOID at all costs. I was previously a regular customer for almost a year but after this experience, I will never go again. This is the first review I have ever written, but I was shocked by how unprofessional and rude the owner was. I came in with my mother for my regular mani/pedi and was totally ignored by the main salon owner who spoke English. Finally, our regular nail tech recognized us and took us in. The entire time we were there, the owner went out of her way to make me and my mother feel unwelcome. She gossiped other clients in front of us and at one point, she even pretended like we were invisible when our nail tech referred to us. We had been going to the salon since they opened because we liked how nice our regular nail tech was - she's the one with shorter hair and speaks Mandarin. We even sent many referrals and tipped generously. However, I refuse to support a business in which the owner is so outstandingly disrespectful to their customers. Advice for the owner: Learn to treat your customers with respect. You lost two regular customers who were more than happy to support and advocate for your business. read more

I CHEATED ON MY OLD NAIL SALON PLACE AT PMALL AND HONESTLY I'M NEVER LOOKING BACK. My old nail salon place was also a spa so it was super convenient for it to be my one stop shop, however, it was hit and miss. Sometimes I loved my nails, sometimes I didn't. I asked Joey to redo my old nail design to give it a fair comparison, AND I LOVE IT SO MUCH. I called in to make an appointment and the reception was very polite, however, when I arrived for my 11 am appointment, Joey was a little late, HOWEVER, she apologized profusely. I normally pay $30-45 for my nails at my old place, at the nail lab today I paid 55$ and I tipped her 5$ because even though she was late and her next appointment had arrived, she meticulously took her time perfecting my nails and made sure I was happy with them. I really like that it's appointment only because at my old nail salon, you could make appointments but they also took walk-ins which would result in them rushing to take the next client. The Nail Lab is on the pricier side but honestly, you get what you pay for and in my opinion, you really get your money's worth. My nails look bomb, cuticles looking cute, feeling like a bad bitch tbh. It's a quality experience, and I've attached photos AND YOU CAN REALLY SEE THE DIFFERENCE.
