Really impressed with how my nails turned out from this place. The paint job was extremely neat and there are no bubbles or anything. I think that most of the focus of the appointment was on giving you the best paint job vs the other parts of the manicure. I'm not sure about is how clean it is. It was super busy here so they were taking people one after another and they seemed to be able to do so without skipping a beat. Not sure if the tools were switched out. As for technique, they removed my previous gel polish with the grinder which I think is pretty rare for most places. It takes a super steady hand to make sure they aren't grinding away your nails themselves and I'm not sure if I'm going to suffer the consequences later. As a result of the grinding, there was a lot of gel and nail dust flying everywhere. She also trimmed my nails shorter with the grinder. My nail tech was wearing a mask and an apron but I was not. There was bits of nail shavings everywhere, on the cushion that my wrists rested on and on myself as well. None of the surfaces I touched were cleaned off. At the very end of the manicure she applied some lotion to my forearms and my hands but with all of that dust and nail bits on top of my skin it felt more like an exfoliating treatment than a massage. They do have a bathroom here which was extremely dark. I could not see my reflection in the mirror. They also have a loyalty program so ask for a loyalty card if you don't have one. Seriously though it's been 2 weeks and my nails still look great so I can kind of overlook some of the funky parts about this place. read more

Came here only for a pedicure. Wanted to like this place because I've heard good things. I walked in and they took me right away. The lady was nice but kept running off during my pedicure to do other things, to the point where the water for my feet was getting cold. At least she was friendly. Cleanliness? Questionable. I didn't see anyone cleaning equipment in between uses. She basically took tools from a dusty container and used them on my feet. After using them on my feet, she returned them to the dusty container. The actual pedicure/paint job was disappointing. Looks like I painted my own toenails. I asked her to cut one side of my toenail and she didn't. When I asked her again, she laughed and said she forgot..? When she sent me to sit at the nail drying station, she went to watch a coworker do nail art on another client. Moments pass and at this point I had been waiting 20+ minutes, and she still hadn't acknowledged me. It wasn't until I stood up to pay, she realized she completely forgot about me, then laughed to her coworker in which I could only imagine what she said in another language was that she forgot I was still there. I can see a few bubbles underlying the top few layers (and She replied that it was normal! Normal? A real professional would not even made such mistakes!) Just within one week, the cuticle has already been grown out A LOT indicates that the nail hadn't been properly trimmed before putting on nail polish. Plus, the rims of nails was not even been taken care of! No trim! No extra layering! The lady obviously neglect this part! After reading reviews for different nail salons, I decided to give this salon a try since missioning all the way to Pacific Mall was too much of a hassle for me. First off, the location is convenient for those living in the McCowan/Hwy 7 area, it's located in the plaza right across Markville Mall and has multiple parking spaces available. The interior is clean and simple, which is essentially key for a nail parlor and a spa. For my nails, I decided to go with a clear-coloured shellac manicure. I believe the girl who did my nails for me goes by the name of Jennifer. To be honest, she was nice but she was really quiet so I had a hard time understanding what she was trying to say half the time. When it came to doing my nails, she shaved my nails down way too much even though I wasn't even getting extensions and painted my nails way too thick for my liking. Overall I'm giving this place a 4/5 stars because I wasn't completely impressed with my nails especially for my first time, and first impressions are everything. However, I'll be returning to this nail salon in the future because their service was acceptable and everyone was nice but I'll probably get my nails done with a different person the next time around. read more

Currently sitting in the pedi chair while writing this review... It's my second time coming here. I find it actually difficult to find a place for a good pedicure. I used to get my pedicure from this other place in Markham but they closed their business. Usually pedicures include a mini leg massage, or maybe the old place set a higher standard for other nail salons.. but many that I've been to only moisturized my leg or give a few slaps ok the leg LOL. But for the price you pay for a shellac pedi, it better come with a massage lol. The ladies are very friendly, patient, and most of all they can speak English. I remember going to this salon a few years ago and I loved how fast thier service was(under 45 min). I'm glad that that hasn't changed. I did a refill on my seaweed bio gel nails with an air brushed french manicure because I saw it here on yelp and I didn't even know that was an option. I want to enjoy my salon experience, not get anxious with the fear that they're going to drill through my nail. Y'all know what I mean...? Like most places in Markham, they remove your previous gel with the e-file. However, unlike most places I never had to pull away from the heat and I was pleasantly surprised. I came here one evening without appointment to get my eyebrows and upper lip waxed. They were able to get me in within a few minutes of waiting. My aesthetician was friendly. The room appeared neat and tidy. I gave the aesthetician some instructions and was in and out in about 10 minutes. She did a great job and followed what I had asked of her (straighter, thicker brows). In total, eyebrow and upper lip wax was $10. I returned here to get a Shellac mani and pedi. I had two ladies working on me at once and I was done in about 35 minutes. While the ladies were friendly, I think they rushed my job despite the salon being empty. My cuticles were not well taken care of and I would have expected more care in the pumicing of my feet as well. Application wise, no issues. They also have these dome like UV lights for Shellac application so it's quite convenient and comfortable. I'll return here for my waxes and likely for mani and pedi as well. If you're short on time, this place is great. Next time I'll be sure to be more vocal about their cuticle care. read more

Over all I do enjoy coming here for getting bedazzled sparkle nails. They have tons of options to choose from and lots of nice dangly nail charms too. There salon is more luxurious or chic I should say than most Asian nail salons. They use better quality than the other places I've tried like Pacific mall for example. Price point: Paint change: $10 Pedicure: $25 I was being skeptical so I only wanted a paint change. This store is located right beside Subway near the traditional pho store. Walked in and was surprised to find the store pretty busy. There were 5 staffs, everyone was serving someone. It is messy, dusty, and it is just not pleasant to be here. Lets just say I did not want to take of my jacket as there was no clean space for me to put down my coat, with peace of mind. SJ is better than local cheaper spas with nail services because their technicians are actually quite awesome. If you clearly communicate what you want, your vision is likely to come to life to a T depending on which technician you get. I have had less than great manicures done by the newer ladies, but recently just committed to Jennifer. She's thorough and I can totally trust she can recreate based on a picture. From my last visit, I felt she made my nails as prim and proper as she would her own. Other than that, the manicure tools are not packaged new and probably sterilized on the side. Steer clear if you're picky in that regard. If you're accustomed to having your hands soaked before the manicure and a good, oiled handed massage after, this may also not be the place for you as it's quick quick quick in here. So I will never be returning to this nail salon ever again. I've been to 4 different salons in Markham and this was BY FAR THE WORST. Their basic pedicure was fine and that's what earned them the two stars. However, I said I wanted my toe colour to match my nails but she ended up using a much darker pink on the toes after assuring me they would match. Not cool. I also got gel tips. One hand looks fine except for the fact that the tip of the ring finger nail has turned yellow in the corner and has bubbles. The other hand simply does not match. The shapes are different, the lengths don't match up, and 3 nails are crooked. It's passable but for the price I expected perfection. Also, the LED light was too hot and hurt a lot. It came up to $93 dollars total but I was told it would be $78 on the phone. I suspect its because she had to use the airbrush to complete the ombre nail design but it would have been nice to know beforehand that it would cost extra. read more
