She's knowledgeable, personable and I honestly love her recommendations (especially for someone who's as indecisive as I am. ). Whenever I want to get my nails done or gel nails removed, I will pay a visit to Michelle. Her passion for nails and attention to detail is something that cannot be found elsewhere! The salon is a cute, simple, always extremely clean and free from the scent of chemicals. There's always a nice aroma and they bonus is they serve you tea that they brew themselves. In terms of service, I have a nail condition, Michelle always pay special attention and makes sure that it looks perfect and that the whole process is comfortable. Whenever got my nails done before I found Mu Nails, I do not get it removed because the ladies will thin out my entire nail bed, which prolongs the recovery process. Michelle, on the other hand, uses the tool to gently remove only the parts with gel overlay. This is something I greatly appreciate as my nails grow super slow and I'm a very hands on and athletic person and it's extremely inconvenient when you're stuck with weak and thin nails for 5 to 6 months. I paid $60 for nothing! To do a business is not easy right now, but as a customer, my money is also not drop from the sky! I work hard to earn the money and they just charged me $60 without provide me any service!! So upset!! This is my first time to leave a bad comments!! Their on time policy is extremely strict. They don't care if you have anything else to do, they don't mind what's the reason you are late for the nail appointment, they don't even bother to call you and just expecting you to call them. I have late for 18mins, I get that! But instead of tell me to reschedule my appointment, what I got is a text message to tell me I'm no show, it's means they don't need to provide me the service but still has the right to charge to my credit card. I'm not expecting to do the nails today because I have the common sense that I'm late!! But give me a no show, even I did show up at 11:48, and quote to the owner or whoever " I'm still get charged on my credit card" even without talk to me to find out if I need to reschedule my appointment is pretty robbery! Btw, I have told him I don't mean to be late, sometimes things just won't happens like what's you planned. I was planing to leave the house, but I get stopped by Sth else. But still, no negotiation!! They were able to fit me in. After booking your appointment, a very detailed text message arrives with all your appointment details and how to find the nail salon. The place is cute, very cozy and has a Japanese feel to it. Michelle is really nice and educated me on nail health. The gel polish they use doesn't damage your nails and the colour selection is great! She also does nail art for an additional cost per nail. I had the UV GEL nails done with nail art. She was very meticulous and detailed oriented. My nails were looking great after my appointment ! They also last a long time. I was skeptical coming in since I've run into a lot of subpar nail salons that left me with cuts and scrapes, but MU NAILS is amazing. They were gentle, took time to explain nail care and to make sure I was happy with each step, and the end result was so delicate and gorgeous. The salon clearly shows care and attention put into it. The space is clean, comfortable and there are little extra touches that show you the owner genuinely pays attention to their store. Hygiene practices were great, and COVID measures were cared for. The nail process takes a long time compared to other places, so I can't recommend coming for a quick fix, but for someone with sensitive nails and skin this was a godsend. It felt like my nails were being cared for during the process, and nothing hurt or felt tender at any point. I came with a complicated custom nail design, but they finished it cleanly and to the tee, delicate gold flakes and all. Will definitely be back. Edit: Photo posted for ~2 weeks later. I got my nails done with Michelle over 1 month ago, and I got so many compliments. Michelle took so much time, care and detail into making it such a pretty set! Not only was the shop and tools clean, Michelle made sure my nails were done delicately - I barely needed to wash my hands from the lack of powder (stark difference when you go to pacific mall and its quick, dirty and nail powder everywhere)! I finally took them off today because it got too long for me (4 weeks later), and there was not a chip in sight. Again, Michelle takes her time to make you feel comfortable and not rush you out (even though I didn't get a refill!). She gave me a full manicure, and included a nail strengthen top coat afterwards. Personally don't recommend this place unless you're willing to spend $170 on a simple set of gel nails. Simply over charging their customers - I understand the website says $60+ for gel nails with design put this place charged me $6 PER NAIL for clear base colour with simple white designs (like a French manicure). Pre-lockdown MU would charge the quoted price plus tips BUT this place is literally trying to charge as high as they can since re-opening. Using covid as an excuse so we have to pay with credit card to add tax on top. Note to the owner - you don't need to argue that tax must be charged because I know tax was NOT charged on top pre-lockdown at MU. Ridicules cancellation policy - MU's cancellation is already so strict and I cannot believe they have the audacity to say there's a 1 week cancellation policy for December. A cancellation fee will be charged and you're not allowed to change the date a week before your appointment. Honestly there's so many other nail salons around Markham that's on par with MU and probably cheaper. I would NOT recommend this place unless you need an urgent appointment because they always have spots available. Prices - $60 for gel - $6 x10fingers for a few lines - Plus tax and tips I know the owner will respond to this review with long excuses just like all the other negative reviews he sees here and on Yelp but I might as well put my thoughts here. read more

She consults and has even gotten to know what works for my lifestyle. I've been nail-shop hopping for awhile now, looking for my new go-to place and im certain this time i have finally found the one ive been looking for! After reading many amazing reviews about MU Nails and obsessiI decided to book an appointment. When I arrived, my nail artist Michelle greeted me instantly and she offered me a complimentary tea from a selection of homemade teas. I chose the MU signature rose tea and it was super calming. Michelle showed me the gel colour selections and she kindly explained to me about the different colours and nail designs. Before starting, she made sure to ask me if I had any allergies to any chemicals and i dont recall other places asking this before doing my nails at other places. She also made sure to explain their pricing beforehand to ensure total transparency. Michelle was super detailed when cleaning my cuticles and prepping them for the gel, she explained to me about how they emphasize a huge portion of the appointment to making sure the cuticles and nails are cleaned and protected from the gel. I'm so happy I found a place that puts your nail health as their priority! Throughout the process, Michelle made sure that each nail length and shape was exactly the same and that I was completely satisfied and comfortable before moving on to the next nail/step. I was so impressed by the cuticle care already I knew the gel part would definitely blow me away. My nails were painted to perfection! Michelle really made sure that each and every single nail was perfect, my nails are so smooth and shiny with no uneven clumping at all. My absolute favourite was the nail designs, I chose a simple marble design with gold foil and I was just so amazed watching Michelle paint them. Michelle would keep asking me to check the nails to make sure theres enough gold foil to my liking and that the jewels were placed in the center from my perspective. To finish off, there was also a hand exfoliation and massage included in the manicure! This is not an average Asian nail salon! Unlike most Asian nail salon, this place is super clean and they take time and extra care to make sure my nails are perfect. I had a gel manicure for $45. At first I didn't know what to expect because the price is a bit higher than what I would usually pay. After seeing how many steps was included and the extra care they take to make sure they don't damage your nails and cuticles, it was totally worth it! Plus they use really high end products! The gel colour they used on me was chemical free imported from Japan. I also love the gentle method they use to buff away the cuticles! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a nail salon that actually cares about your nail health and how it looks! I'm so happy that I found this cute little nail salon in Markham! This place is super cute and the staff is very passionate about what they do. Michelle did my nails, and she took her time, making sure my nails were properly manicured! She is really detail oriented and made sure every line was perfect! To be honest I've been to top places like Hammam spa and Her Majestys pleasure in the heart of Toronto where you pay top dollar for nails and spa-like treatment, and MU nails is on that level. They start you off with a selection of homemade tea (deeelisious) and they have an aroma therapy diffuser running so you feel relaxed and tranquil while you get you nails done. The other amazing thing about this place besides the excellent service is the colour selection and quality of the gels. They are all shipped in from Japan and are high quality, so your nails don't thin out or dry out due to bad product. And after weeks of wear, no chips or peeling of the gel. The owner (Michelle) is also so detailed with her work. She gets every nail perfect! This isn't your typical "drive thru" style nail salon....its a spa!. Quite pricey, took a while to do gel and nail design got there for 6pm finished at 8:30pm for a simple nail design, if you enjoy sitting and getting your nails done you'll enjoy this experience since the nail tech took alot of attention and detail to do cuticle cleaning and everything in between. On website it mentions $60+ for gel + nail design when got there for quoted $120+$15(old gel removal) also mentioning this is before tax for a simple manicure design. Opted for the monthly design for $75+$15 before tax Overall if you don't mind spending extra money and enjoy the experience of getting your nails done this is for you. However it's very over priced as I paid almost $280 in total and the French design peeled off 2 fingers within 9 days of getting them done. I WILL NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE AT ALL - BAD QUALIFY AND DISAPPOINTING CUSTOMER SERVICE. i had my nails done at MU nails - spent $93. Then 3 days later, there are BUBBLES start showing up on the nails!!! I contacted the technician, she told me to go in and fix it. So i went, but all she did was ONLY to sand off the top layer and re-apply the the nail polish again. I said, I can still see the bubbles underneath, this won't solve the issue. She said that's all she can do. I asked what if you just remove it for me since it's ugly, her reply was, you will need to pay for the removal. This is non-sense, the nails doesn't even last for 3 days and you are not fixing them for me and instead i have to pay for removal??!!! So end up she just re-applied another layer since i do not think i should pay for the removal. Now 3 days is passed after "her fixes" and the BUBBLES are coming back again!!! read more

As an Esthetician who has worked in the industry and also offered nail services, I find that I have higher standards when looking for a nail salon. I am a little more nitpicky when it comes to cleanliness of the facility and tools, as well as how well the polish is applied as I know the difference between a good and a bad application. Typically I will do my own nails, but at times I do want to go out like everyone else and be pampered. I have been to a handful of nail salons and just found them to be okay. I came across Mu Nails and saw quite a few 5 star reviews so decided to give them a try. I contacted them through WhatsApp and got a response quickly. I also sent a picture of the nail design that I wanted and they gave me a quote on the price. When I arrived for my appointment, Michelle greeted me and offered me tea which they make in house. The appointment took 3 hours, which for some people might seem very long, but truly shows the type of workmanship that is put in. If you are looking for a quick in and out in an hour type of nail salon, this is not the place for you. A lot of time is spent making sure that the nails and cuticles are clean, and that the polish is applied perfectly so that you will get a gel manicure that will last. Pricing is a little bit higher compared to other salons, but you are paying for quality. They only use high quality products from Japan and are constantly adding new products to keep up with the industry. I highly recommend and will definitely return. read more

The "discounted rate" you are referring to is a typo as I did not receive a discount of any kind, as stated in my review I was charged an additional $10.00 at the time of payment. Had you discussed this circumstantial up-charge all clients have the right to be advised prior to their services that the certified nail technician would be adding an additional cost due to "more work". The issue is not monetary but the principle in which an undetermined price as you say was stated on your sign was not discussed. ** The state in which my nails were upon my very first visit, following visits or that day have nothing to do with the issue, the concern you should have with the state of my nails is how they look when they leave after your technician had finished her job- as for the result of the technicians skills they were great, but again this is an issue of payment not workmanship.. ** As a patron of any establishment food/clothing/banking there are individual requirements/sensitivities/allergies that the business can assist with or deny. Your tech performed a removal with a tool that when held to long will heat up and cause sensitivity. As anyone who gets their nails done knows this is common and easily corrected by moving from area or hand filing. Again nothing to do with the monetary issue.** If there is no times to accommodate my schedule and in order to keep my nails presentable the use of another establishment is warranted- again nothing to do with the monetary issue.** The other salon that you seem to be concerned with performed my service and charged me the previously discussed price. The service in which I performed with your establishment left me with an additional $10.00 charge that was not discussed with me prior and was added by you/or the technician as it was decided there was more work than initially expected. Your technician has every right to express their concerns of the amount of work needed to produce an end result that they are happy to allow leave, however these issues need to be discussed and agreed on by both the technician and client. ** As you have just stated you feel that your technician has taken extra time on every visit to produce a desired result, why was this service any different? The premium I pay is for the extra attention, as for all consumers if I am receiving the same product I would choose the cheaper option.** To determine the suggested condition of nails the Gel- top needed to be removed, this was done using an E-File as done as a normal part of your procedure. After stating I was feeling some sensitivity it was determined that a manual file would be a better option for me. This was appreciated and if was to be performed at a premium this should have been stated.**Every removal has a procedure, as you stated I have serviced with you multiple times- if an adjustment is made and you feel the value has gone up it should have been mentioned. **The way in which the removal is done has no relevance to me as you are the trained tech, if you felt this was abnormal you should have advised me of this and that a charge would reflect it.**The note of color choice is to depict that I am not performing designs or extensive nail workmanship, I am again concerned with the added value you are trying to explain that warranted an undisclosed additional charge.** As a guest who spends money with your establishment and you providing a loyalty service I have every right to redeem my stamps- again this has nothing to do with an undisclosed charge.** I appreciate you accommodating me and charging me the discussed amount on the prior services- this service unfortunately was not the same outcome. 8* My daughter is a paying a client and has no relevance to this issue as this charge was for my individual service. If you wish to not perform services on children please advise me and I would be happy to have her services done where she is appreciated. As this is normal up-keep for me, this is a Mom and Daughter outing for her and do not appreciate you discrediting that. ** A one star review was the outcome of an un-resolved issue with your establishment, it is also to allow other patrons to be advised and not be in the same position I was. As a business owner the good unfortunately comes with the bad, how you resolve the issue depicts whether you will receive my business or the business of someone googling salons for service. I found this place on yelp and I'm glad I did! Both Michelle and Jacky are very attentive and meticulous of their work. There are no hidden fees as they let you know before they start or change anything. They do not recommend extra things or products, they want what's best for their clients.
