My last two experiences at Fanny's sucked. The first time, I came out of hibernation and needed a mani pedi. It took almost two hours lol I was there from 6:10- 8, last one out. It wasn't even like I had fungus growing on me either. Notably, I had Cindy who was really slow on the pedi. Then today... I had Cindy, again. I picked a color that looked thick and nice on the example nail. But on my nail, it ended up being transparent. If I had nice natural nail tips... maybe I could pull it off as hipster/trendy, but this wasn't the case. Cindy did not tell me that it would look transparent, she just acted like everything was fine. The worst part was that when I told her how I felt, she tried to convince me that it was a good colour/look, and so did the manager. I mean, I think it's a no brainer that you're not looking for transparent nails, unless you ask for them specifically. So to rectify, they just took off the top coat, and put another colour that I chose. Obviously, to make it easy, since I was already there for an hour, I picked a dark colour. Right now, I have the remnant orange popping from the sides of the dark blue - poor job. Anyways, this experience took 1:30hr. Normally, a shellac experience should only take 45mins. If I was customer service, I would have offered a second appointment in the next couple of days to fix it for free. Now, I'm just never gonna go back. $25 + tip to waste my time and my money. read more

I googled nail salons because I was tired of my usual spot. I found this place and it's not too far from where I live. I had a wonderful nail technician named Lisa. She did an amazing job! I haven't been this please in a long time. Basically removed all the tips that were added on since my nails are long enough now. I verbally expressed the colour that I wanted and she was able to chose the correct one. The bio gel application is thin which I LOVE. My nails feel reinforced so not too thin is what I mean. They're just not as thick as some places make them. I give my four stars for the technician and the final product but if I had to give my two cents, the shellac bin could be more organized. Its too overwhelming to try and pull out all the rings to pick a colour. Also the purpose of credit/debit cards have tap and chip is for security. Thus I don't hand my card to anyone to inset into the machine. I control my choice obviously however whomever checked me out decided to ask for my card and I informed her that I can insert it myself. She gave me the machine and mumbled "why you don't trust me?" I don't believe this is professional at all. read more

Came in without appointment and even though they were busy, did not wait at all! Got a very pretty manicure (shellac), pretty good job. I'm a perfectionist so it's not perfect of course, but the perfect manicure specialist charges $80 per manicure, and takes over 2 hours to do it. The price is right, it definitely did not take 2 hours and my nails are very well done. Will see how it wears... I do not know but hope everything is sanitized in between clients, things like nail files should be 1 per client, I wonder but do not know 100% if they are in this salon. read more

OK gents, lets get this out the way, nail salons are not just for the fairer sex. Stepping into one doesn't make you less of a man and not one person in there is going to call your "man card" into question. If your talons are looking tattered and the balls of your feet are tough enough to stomp the yard on broken glass, its time you put one foot in front of the other and step into Fanny Nails. Being self conscious about my horrendous hooves, I was introduced a year ago to Fanny Nails (named after the owner - who is the nicest woman this side of Vietnam) by my mother (a former esthetician) and after the service I received I've never looked back. Upon entering you are greeted with a boisterous "Hullo, How aw yuii" from every station attendant in unison. If its busy, which if you go on Fridays or weekends it undoubtedly is, there can be up to a 20 minute wait. Not too bad from my experience. However, their turnover is relatively quick due to being very well staffed. Its said that cleanliness is next to godliness. If that is the case then that explains why a mani-pedi combo is that much more heavenly. They take the cleaning process very seriously, cleaning sinks, stations and tools right in front of you. It gives me a sense of comfort knowing the importance they put on hygiene. The service is impeccable and the quality of work is second to none. They show me how to use the massage chair every time and consistently ask me how the water temperature is. Standard practice I know, but its those little things that make a difference. However, being a guy I find the ladies have trouble making conversation with me as easily as with the female patrons. One complimented me by saying "you are a very handsome man - why you have no boyfriend....errr girlfriend". And no matter how many times I go they always ask if I want a coat of polish, there isn't anything wrong with saying yes, but its certainly where I draw my line. I'm never dissapponted when I go to Fanny nails. My mom, sister and I visited today for some quality time and pampering. The staff never fails to greet us with a warm simultaneous welcome from all of them. I got a shellac pedicure and an acrylic manicure! We had an appointment so they were ready for us upon arrival (I always reccomend making an appointment at this salon because they are very popular, and though very efficient and prompt with their work you could still be waiting a bit if you don't book ahead). Their selection of colors and shellac is extensive and their dedication to cleanliness is what makes me so comfortable coming here. This is what I have learned about this place since I wrote the first review. If you only do manicure and pedicure.... well you are kind of a under appreciated client. They truly prefer the ones who do more work... like fake nails and shellac... well because technically they spend way more money. They try hard to book you at a slower time or with less experienced girls if it is only manicure and pedicure. If you insist on a particular girl, one that is really good, she will do you in extreme rush so she can move on to a more valuable client. If she cuts your nail badly because she was in a rush and your toe gets infected.... well you are on your own. They will treat you very disrespectful, communicate among them selves in their own language and make you feel like your bothering them. I will not go back!!! It is funny,because even though I don't do fake nails, I do a manicure and pedicure every week, and that is even more money monthly than the fake nails counterpart. Go figure! read more

I came here for the first time with my friends and after I got a new set of acrylic nails I noticed so many things wrong. First I asked for a simple marble design on one of my fingers which the lady (her name was Lisa) told me she couldn't do. Along with that the nails were more square shaped rather then coffin which is what I asked for. My nails were somewhat crooked and bumpy. A little over 24 hours after I got my new set, MY WHOLE NAIL BROKE OFF. this has never happened to be before in the 3 years that I have been getting acrylics. My nails were not long and I wasn't doing anything to put a lot of work on my fingers for my nail to break. I am extremely disappointed and angry that I paid 45$ and tip for my nail to break a day later. read more

I went to Fanny Nails for the first time yesterday evening. I booked with them a few hours before and they said they were able to accommodate me. I arrived about 20 minutes before my scheduled time, and I noticed it was packed, however, I was seated immediately. While waiting for my tech to finish her last appointment, I chose from the colours (they have an OK selection) and the lady who coordinates the shop went to find the bottles of colours I picked. I wanted shellac on my fingers and regular polish on my toes. At my salon I usually go to they will always match my shellac colours and regular paint colours for me, but this lady seemed clueless and kept bringing me shades of peach that were completely off so I told her don't worry and got up to match the colours myself. After about 10 minutes the lady came back and said "The shellac colour you picked, we ran out." And just walked away... No help. Anyways, the technician, Tina, was late starting my appointment (by 15 minutes) and I didn't get an apology for the late start. She was very rough with the buffing and filing machine. I was nervous she was thinning out my nail. I expressed my concern to her and she didn't seem to care. Also, I was on a call at the same time with my grandmother but for some reason Tina kept trying to talk to me, which I wouldn't mind had I not been on the call. I did UV gel and after she applied the gel on my nails and told me to put it under the light. I felt an immediate, strong burning feeling all over my nails. It KILLED. I gasped and pulled my hands out of the UV light and told Tina that my nails were in a lot of pain and I didn't know what was happening as it has never happened to me before. She said "It's okay, the UV light is strong". I asked her if she could turn down the intensity and she said "Just put your hands back in and pull them out when it starts to burn"... Wtf. Anyways, she painted my nails and they look meh. I hate when they don't cover the whole nice evenly with polish. The side of my nails are in need of another coat of paint. My toes were also painted and they look fine. She shaped my nails exactly how I wanted them, but for the pain and lack of care she had, I won't be returning. read more

I went again recently and my nail polish only lasted A day; few of them just peeled off!!! There's something about their nail polish, as I mentioned in my previous post, they added thinner to their nail polish, I guess it's the reason they didn't last! I still gave them two stars because the staff and Fanny are friendly but I don't think I will go back because I don't own a collection of nail polish at home and I really want to change my colour every week/other week. If you bring your own nail polish including base and top coat then you will be fine. read more

If I could give this place less than 1 star I would. First thing they said when I told them what I wanted was "that's going to be hard". If I'm paying you that's not what I want to hear, mind you all I was asking was for them to file my long acrylic nails down. I decided to let her continue anyway. After filing and shaping she didn't even ask me to wash my hands before putting on polish. On top of it all, there was little air bubbles in every nail from the old sticky polish they used. They're service: not great; barely spoke to me and spent the majority of their time talking in a different language amongst each other. Although I have to say, being offered a bottle of water was quite nice. A huge con was the cuticle the lady working on me ripped to shreds (I actually have a slightly throbbing gash now as I write this review and it's been 4 days since my manicure). And then there's the quality of work: bad. Like making-me-want-to-compulsively-smack-my-hands-away-from-my-line-of-vision bad. There's the wonky shellac application (the tips being thicker than the base of the nails), and the fact that the polish starts to wear and fade after a few days. The filing itself is uneven (my one hand has noticeably longer nails than the other and every single one of my nails have their own unique shape all the way from square to round). As a slight (maybe moderate) perfectionist this is driving me crazy! And then there's the salon hygiene: not the worst, no. Particularly since we're talking about the gunk-fest low standards of a nail salon. But come on, put on some gloves, let's see some sanitation equipment (I mean at this point I would have been satisfied with even a UV sterilizer), wash those walls and desks and make me feel like I won't be contracting a WebMD-able bacteria. Ugh. Needless to say I won't be hitting this joint up any time soon. read more
