I come to this nail shop regularly and usually have a good experience, which is why today was disappointing. I had a 10:30 AM appointment for a Gel-X set with removal and a gel pedicure. While my nail service started on time, my pedicure didn't begin until about 45 minutes later, which significantly extended my visit. I also noticed that none of the usual front desk staff were there, which may have contributed to the lack of coordination. On top of that, the salon ran out of the color I originally chose, so I had to pick something different. During my Gel-X service, I was asked what length I wanted. I requested slightly longer than medium--nothing extreme. However, when I got to checkout, I was charged an additional $5 for length, which was never communicated beforehand. Overall, I've had better experiences here, which is why this stood out. The pricing for pedicures is already on the higher side, and the lack of massage chairs doesn't really match that price point. I've been to this establishment numerous times. I happened to be there 2 Sundays ago for mani/pedi my usual. The work completed was not good and I made my complaint to the On Duty Manager. Her comments were; they are independent contractor, nothing she could do about it. I've been here several times. They do decent gel manicures which is why I've been back. I decided I wanted to try Gelx to see if that would last longer. They scheduled me with Leo. I wanted Trish but I was told she didn't do gelX. My appointment for my hands was 11:15 and my pedicure was scheduled with Trish at 12pm. They asked me if I was ok with waiting. I was totally fine with it. I get there and they seat me in the chair for pedicures. (The place isn't well lit and they don't use additional lighting when doing pedicures and manicures at the same time. So, I opted to be seated at the table where they do hands only. While I'm in the middle of getting my nails done, the receptionist comes over and tells me that Trish is ready now. It's 11:30 and I'm informing her that my appointment with Trish is at 12pm. I'm going to chalk the back and forth to lack of communication and language barrier. I advised her that I was ok with waiting. needless to say that I lost my appointment with Trish but agreed to come back at 3pm. While getting my nails done I'm advising her that they were too long. I wanted an active length. While filing, I asked her to stop filing down my nail bed as there was no reason for her to do so. It would've caused them to be raw and painful. I'm advising her the length of each hand is off. She checked and agreed. She seemed to be unhappy with my pointing things out and would then tell me to pick color. I also pointed out that the nails were lifted at the tip. This happens when the nail isn't all the attached at the tip. She told me that my nail will grow down which makes absolutely no sense. I asked her to clean up the excessive glue under my nail and she told me it was just powder. I've washed my hands over a couple dozen times since getting my nails done yesterday and it's still really bad. To add insult to injury, I received a call from who I presume is the manager (She refused to give me her name). She essentially told me not to come back as it appears that I'm unhappy with the services that were provided. WOW! She didn't ask me about my experience. Mind you I didn't make a complaint to the manager or owner as I usually don't. I tend to just make a mental note as to who is good at what and schedule accordingly. Don't come here if you want your nails done properly. They seem to have an issue with customers telling them how they want their nails shaped, the length and details like getting the hairs out the polish before it drys and filing the nail AFTER the gel drys. It breaks the seal and causes water and moisture to get through. Which causes the gel to lift a lot sooner than it should. FYI... I used to do nails in college. The lack of attention to detail and unhealthy practices like filing someone's nail bed down to its raw causes pain and a health risk when those chemicals are placed on top of a raw nail. I want my money back so that I can go somewhere and get my nails done properly. I paid $75 for this and to be told not to comeback is rude and unprofessional. read more

Absolutely Do Not Go Here - Dishonest and Aggressive I called NailLAX in advance to confirm the price for an acrylic gel fill and was told $55. When I arrived, I mentioned I needed two nail replacements, which i assumed would be $5 each and it was. But when I went to check out, they told me the total was $90. I asked why the price was so wildly different, and they said it was because I have long nails (I have acrylics of course they're long) and because they had to reshape the nails. Let's be clear: the reshaping was only necessary because they put on replacement nails that didn't match the rest. I've never been charged for reshaping in any other salon, and they never once asked for my consent or informed me about any additional cost. When I pushed back and said I was quoted $55 and agreed to meet them halfway at $75, the woman in charge threatened to call the police on me. Over a pricing dispute that they caused and refused to be transparent about. I would have gladly waited for the police if I hadn't had a prior commitment. This business is dishonest, unethical, and manipulative. They keep their prices hidden until the very end, then gaslight you when you question it. Do not support this scam of a salon. Spend your money at a business that respects their customers and communicates clearly. read more

My son and i have been coming to the El Segundo for over 2yrs. The quality and professionalism of this place had fallen off, especially for black men. This is our second visit where we we treated with substandard service. Today my son pedicure took literally 9 mins to complete. That because the technician basically just cut his toe nails and cleaned his cuticles. None of the other included services were done, such as dead skin foot scrub or calf massage. But on both occasions, the full price was charged. As for my services, today I literally sat in my chair for 25 mins with no service, even though I had scheduled an appointment in advance. During this time, i watched as two other patrons where greeted, shown to there seats with services commencing ASAP. When I complained about it, the receptionist then said, we are sorry we are a little busy today, but i can get some to help you now. I declined of course and let her know I watched her walk by me with two other guest, both of which came after me and they both received services right away, from two techians, one working on the hands and the other on the their feet, while they just left me sitting there waiting. Additionally, there were only 7 people in the salon, including me and my my son. Busy how? I can only assume that they did not think we knew any better and that it was okay to give us substandard treatment. I accidentally came to this location instead of their Torrance location that I made an appointment for and they were kind enough to still squeeze us in. Which I greatly appreciated! Everybody was very nice and they offered a free 5 minute shoulder massage with their services. We got there early and I didn't get enough time from when she put the colors down for me to look at to her getting started and asking what I wanted. The lady who did my nails did do a good job with getting all my dead skin off but did end cutting me and it burned pretty bad while she did my nails. Overall, Im still happy with the way they turned out. The store was clean and they offered refreshments which was nice. Everybody was positive and happy so it was still a good experience overall. I decided to try The Pina Colada Special. A mani-pedi that includes treatment for reducing inflammation,swelling and softens skin. This is a great special! My hands and and feet were treated, to an exfoliating synergetic scrub, cleansing soothing masks, hot relaxing oil, and hot towel wraps. Extremely relaxing! It's may be little expensive. I go to NaiLAX almost every other week and today was an awful experience. The nail tech filed my nail so far down to the skin, completely destroying my nail bed and causing a lot of pain. I was still charged $30 for the "service" because she did my cuticles and a 5 minute massage. Oh, but at least they waived the "removal" of my gel polish. Not the treatment I was expecting as a frequent customer. So in total I paid $75 today for basically an incomplete service and gel pedicure PLUS a nail bed injury that will take weeks to heal now. I suggest NaiLAX in Torrance or literally any other salon around to avoid an injury yourself. The lack of consideration and care is comical. read more

Read the reviews and even though mixed, made my appointment. Had a great experience. Regular mani and pedi. Been a while so they earned the tip from me. So good that I went back for a second time. That time I had a tech doing my pedi that both had hearing issues as well as language barrier. She still managed to give me all the prompts without any issues. I would totally continue to come here. Upon making my appointment over the phone I asked if they did hard gel/gel overlay service. I let her know this isn't the same service as regular gel nail polish. Lady on the phone said they do both. While my nails were being done I noticed what the nail tech was applying what looked like gel coat for regular gel nail polish service (what I had confirmed I did not want over the phone). Nail tech then confirmed it was build on and I allowed her to finish. She put two layers of the gel coat, but it did NOT build on like gel overlay. Two days later my nails had broken/chipped!! The service I requested requires the build on in an effort to keep my natural nail length and the nail to be strong and also lasts me 2-3 weeks with nail growth. I'm writing this review about 3 months after my visit and I'm still having issues with my nails after coming here. I've been to sooo many nail places across L.A. and literally never complain, but this was next level bad and frankly reckless. I asked for a simple hard gel removal and my attendant kept filing my nails down repeatedly. At a certain point I felt like it was getting really painful and raw and she told me it wasn't "off yet". I asked her to please stop and she kept going. She tried to go "softer" but the damage was done. I finally told her I had to stop and left because she kept telling me the nail polish wasn't off. I was in intense pain for weeks and my nails were literally paper thin. I was so upset that I couldn't even write this review for a while, and I'm not litigious so I'm just coming on here to say watch out and be careful. I would avoid this place, Last thing - for months I've been able to see the new growth of my nail vs where she removed the top layer and it's a crazy noticeable difference. Where it was filed down is basically red and pink and my new growth is a normal nail. Stay safe out there. read more

They definitely did a good job, it was just more expensive than what I'm used to. $90 to remove previous gel, fill in with powder on one big damaged toe nail, and then extra $15 just for the color I picked idk why lol but I guess glitter gel acrylic toes are $90 these days it's fine they did a great job just make sure you know what you're getting yourself into. Tried this place twice, not so nice. I read the reviews and they were mixed so I decided to give it a try. I got a gel manicure and regular pedicure. The tech that did my manicure probably cut me on 6 different fingers when trimming my cuticles. My nails looked good, as long as you didn't look at the inflamed red cuticles. My pedicure was average. Didn't learn my lesson and went back a second time with a different tech. My manicure was much better but my pedicure was much worse. My pedicure didn't start until 40 minutes after my appointment time which made me have an almost 2 hour nail visit. Then my tech cut my toenails super crooked. I asked her to fix them but nope. The regular polish was so old it looked like tar. I asked for another bottle but apparently they didn't have one. I would have chosen another color but since my hands and feet weren't done at the same time, I was stuck. When I was finally done, my shoes were soaking wet. The pedicure tech put the wet used tub liner on my shoes after she finished my crappy pedicure. Positives were a convenient location and parking. read more

For starts I got gelx w cat eye which is $95 in total. The lady who did my nails pushed my nail bed back with her thumb nails... ok that's a first and pretty nasty. She never soaked my nails so when she was cutting down my cuticle it was so painful and I actually started bleeding. It was amazing - imagine a manicure where they put paraffin wax on your hands and then massage your arms, the whole arm, with a warm lotion!! It was amazing! The atmosphere is warm and inviting.
