Finally a spa chair worth its salt...so comfortable and love the pillows and adjustments that Karen did to make me 100% comfortable! Nice warm water soak and what a treat to be able to pick your aromatherapy scent from 4 different types. The service was top notch and unlike other nail spas I enjoyed this experience start to finish. Karen was so attentive and sweet. Lots of extras in the slow beauty option and what a pleasant surprise to find out it was 20% off for first timers!! I was really impressed with the quality of products they use as well. Love their appointment booking system which sends you text messages and emails to remind and confirm. Owner is super accommodating. She apologized and explained a bit of why it happened in the first place. But the bottom line is Melanie stepped up, admitted where she went wrong and wanted to make things right which I greatly appreciated. I was given a choice of "right a way" appointments and finally had a hard gel mani yesterday. I didn't leave 5 stars because my mani isn't perfect (yet) as this is a new technique for the manicurist who worked on me. But I have confidence that with more practice, her application will improve. I've had the soak-off gel polish (Gelish) from other salons before, and although it would last longer than a regular manicure, it would never last longer than a week since the top coat would start peeling. Three weeks after a gel manicure by Melanie and it still looks perfect! If my nails hadn't grown out, it'd look like I just walked out of the salon this morning. Her specialty is embellishments, so she likes working with beads, feathers, foils, etc. What I really like about her is that she doesn't think she's too good to do a basic manicure. Maybe it's due to her self-proclaimed OCD, but her solid, one-color manicure is just as perfect as her nail designs. I started to have my nails done months ago and had them done at the bargain salons that one can find all over the city. However, the quality and care I received was so inconsistent and my frustration level was high. So I set out to find a new salon that would give me a quality mani/pedi. I found Well-Manicured, located in the same building as the Hermosa 24 hour gym. Here I found a salon that had extremely well-trained, knowledgable, caring technicians whose facilities are first class and relaxing. The technicians are friendly, careful and are focused totally on you. Many of the less expensive salons have employees who carry on conversations amongst themselves, which I find extremely unprofessional. This does not happen here. The products used in their services are also high quality. It is more expensive than your typical salon but after experiencing the frustration I endured elsewhere I was happy to pay more for a safe, high-quality, long lasting, beautiful manicure and pedicure. read more

Jontel is so sweet and she gave me the most wonderful pedicure this evening. Methodical and precise - she was amazing to watch....when I wasn't falling asleep from such tenderness and care! I treated myself to an evening of bliss. The beautiful Anna gave me a neck and shoulder massage (she can really get those kinks out!)....all this, while Jontel was making my toes look like they were perfect (and I pick at them all the time so we know they are not even close to perfect)! The foot message, hot towels, a beautiful scrub and these little piggies are as soft as a baby's bottom. I had the "Signature Slow Beauty Gel Pedicure (90 minutes of sheer joy). All this while Anna was tending to my incredibly tight and painful muscles from hunching over the PC all day and night. I can feel the release from the constant tension. Amazing! I've never had an application of gel polish but it seems to be THE best thing EVER! It should last me about a month and it dries so stinkin' quick that you can put regular shoes on afterwards instead of thongs. There's no turning back to regular polish! Melanie's salon has - BY FAR - the most artistic, precise and focused talented people that will knock your socks off (or in my case - practically put you to sleep from sheer relaxation). Melanie is a great example of being healthy and eating healthy! She lives what she teaches and is such an encouragement. What I really loved to see this evening, was watching and listening to her teach Jontel how to do a french tip. Two artists working together. Her encouragement and tutelage made me feel very privileged watching this interaction of teacher and student. I have been a client of Melanie McCulley's for almost 4 years and can say that hands-down ;-) she is the best manicurist in the South Bay, maybe even the LA area. She is truly a professional in every sense of the word, delivering not only an excellent manicure or pedicure, but also excellent customer service. I've NEVER in my life had such an awesome manicure that lasted! The South Bay has many nail salons, but none (even in the "spas") are as good as this one. I've tried many! The space is beautiful, everyone I've encountered is wonderful and caring and really want you to have a good experience. Finally someone has opened a nail space that is worth spending the time and money to get this service done. Other places are not worth it and I'd rather go without. The products they use, they stand behind and can tell you about them. It's an easy appointment system, but if there is an issue they will call your and/or text you. This is my first ever Yelp review. I had to write about this wonderful studio because I was so impressed with every detail of service. I easily booked my appointment online for a full set acrylic overlay because I do not get my nails done EVER and thought it was what I needed for an upcoming family wedding. When I arrived Melanie looked at my nails and talked with me about my needs, and with her help, we decided that a good manicure with gel polish was all I really needed. Because I got a discount for my first visit, I also got a pedicure. Let me say that I stay away from "salons" because I'm more of an earth-muffin than fashionista, but Melanie made me feel very comfortable. I especially liked the more ritualistic aspect of my Mindful mani/pedi, although, one could opt for just the basics. I work customer service and recognize that all of the stylists there tailor their approach to fit the client, which is the hallmark of stellar service. The glass of wine didn't hurt either! Everyone compliments me on my nails! And even though Melanie had to cut them short to start over, they look great and will look even better as they grow. And my toes have never looked better thanks to Melisa! I went to see Melanie last Saturday for a full set of acrylics with designs. Let me tell you... They came out perfect!! She listened to what I wanted from nail shape down to moving stones around on my design.
