I had a wonderful time there! My sister and I went for pedicures and they went quite well very nice place to go. I do recommend you to to try it! I read all the reviews before i went and I must say I was not tempted to go afterwards. But I wanted to see for myself!! I had Maggie and she did a great job! Nice place to go and relax! I did not bleed and I did not get fungus! I will be going back! -Nisi- read more

This salon is the best. Very professional staff and everyone is friendly and accommodating. Prices are very reasonable.

Went in today as a walk in for a gel fill, the previous places I had tried didn't do the best job and I was undecided where to try next because the reviews everywhere are so mixed. Anyway I was getting desperate for a fill and decided to stop here since it's around the corner. Steve was able to get me in right away and did a great job - they look so much better than the previous 2 places I've tried. They are much thinner now and not lumpy, and the shape is perfect. As a bonus it was less expensive than the other places and Steve works fast (not rushed, just quick). It took under 40 minutes from the time I walked in to the time I walked out. I am so glad to have found a good place so close to home. read more

I love this nail salon! The staff is friendly, it's clean and comfortable. This is the only place I go to get my nails done and they have never let me down. I had been looking for a place to call "my place" to get my nails done. I came upon Escape Day Spa because of the location and a friend had told me about it, after going just twice I decided I loved this nail salon. The staff are amazing, I've never been cut or had a messed up nail. They've truly shown me nothing but amazing work and friendly conversation. I don't see one specific person, so lots of the employees have done my nails and they're always been perfect. They're super flexible with appointments and walk in, I'm absolutely satisfied with this location. Highly recommend. read more

Easily the worst manicure I've ever had. Manicurist came in from smoking and sat down with his cloud that was terrible the whole time. Then he filed my nails to oblivion and when painting, left the layers so thick, goopy and sloppy, they basically never dried, even after sitting under the fan/UV light for 25 min so of course they were quickly messed up when I left. Possibly the other manicurists are better but I would not recommend. read more

This place was nice. I've been to a lot of places in Woodbridge that are much more expensive. It's hard to keep up with your nails when it's so expensive. I'll definitely come back because it is the best bang for your buck. I got the hot cream mani and pedicure. The massage was wonderful. My only problem was that I felt like my nail polish wasn't put on evenly and started to chip after a few days to a week. But I work a lot with my hands too. All in all a good experience for 50 bucks. read more

Always clean. Always pleasant. These folks take good care of me; I've been going here for years.

Came in to get my eyebrows done today. I am male and just like to get my unibrow cleared up and everything else cleaned up. The woman waxing my eyebrows asked if I just wanted things cleaned up and I agreed with a bit of relief that she wasn't going to try to take too much off. As soon as I got in my car I realized that not only had she thinned out my eyebrows to make them smaller than my wife's but she had done it unevenly. read more

Been coming to this salon for about 2-3 years now! Steve and his techs are always professional and courteous. Offered water and the best nail and pedicure service I have had in a long time. Most of the time I have an appointment with Diana. She keeps my polish and styles current and on trend! I love this nail salon. Always my go to spot! read more

I made the mistake of going somewhere closer to home on mother's day to get my nails done. BIG mistake. I will never go anywhere else! Jackie was amazing and so patient with my time consuming request, even though they were super busy. I absolutely love all the nail techs but Jackie and Diana are my faves!!! read more

My daughters and I walked in on a slow mid week afternoon and sat in the pedi chairs for almost 30 mins with no water. When I said something. The staff was very rude. I will never return. read more

Worst possible service ever , the guy doesn't know what he is doing , customer service skills are absolutely horrific & I would not recommend this place to anyone read more

This is my first and last experience at this shop. I went there because I read the 5-star review by another fellow Yelper and decided to give them a try. I was a Walk-In and they took me for a pedicure within 20 mins. Everything was going fine until she painted my nails and I noticed my left large toe was bleeding along the side and I glanced and the right large toe was also bleeding. WTF, she had used those damm nail clipper to much and obviously to deep. So as she proceeded to paint some more I told her to remove all nail polish because I didn't want to get an infection. She did apologize and said the clippers were to sharp -- aww, you think? When I went to the front the owner still charged me $30 which pissed me off! I thought this was crappy although I told him I was not going to pay full price. Lesson learned -- no cutting EVER again whenever I get a pedicure. read more

Yes, you are correct, I was on my phone to which you THOUGHT I wasn't paying attention. I was. I set my timer 2, and, that's how I knew you did not do 10 minutes. When I brought it up to you, you proceeded to get crappy about it. How about we talk about your pedicure skills then. Your massage was not a massage, you literally surfaced rubbed my feet while paying attention to everything and everyone else. I could've done that. I won't be back. There is 1 girl there that is great, other than that I not worth it. read more

OMG! I will never go back. I moved away from the place where I normally get my bikini waxes so I decided to give them a try. The lady who did my wax didn't leave the room so I could undress, didn't give me anything to cover with while she was preparing the wax and DIDN'T use gloves while waxing me!!! Gross!!! When she was cleaning up the wax afterwards she was just all up in my stuff and I was so grossed out. I have got a lot of bikini waxes and never experienced anything like this before. When she did my eyebrows she took me out into a public area, which isn't such a big deal, but most places also do your eyebrow waxing in private. Before any of this happened I asked for a pedicure so I just went with it even though I was uncomfortable and ended up with a fungus. I will NEVER use this place again. read more

Walked in. Sat for awhile and was not addressed. Then the male asked what I needed. I told him and he walked away with no response. Was I imposing? I walked out. I will drive the 4 miles to the place I've been before. Customer service is not on point or consistent these days. First impressions last.... read more

Walked in on a quiet Thursday for a pedicure and a pink/white full set and Diana took great care of me. Offered me bottled water, had a great hand/foot massage, and she did a wonderful job. She didn't throw shade when I asked her to file nails down more and was friendly throughout. The location is clean and modern and they have a great selection of Essie and opi nail polishes. There are many nail places in the area but this one looks nicest inside, had best selection and prices were really reasonable. I will be back! Only downside is tips must be in cash. read more

I had put off trying this location because of some bad reviews but after my husband had a pedicure there last weekend, I decided to give it a try. Wow! I am so glad I took the chance! Jackie provided excellent service and was very nice. I had a Deluxe Pedicure and had my nail set filled and gel color put on.... My feet feel so great and my nails look amazing! I will definitely return and am looking forward to trying some of the other services they offer - like a massage!! Give this spa a chance, you will not leave disappointed! read more

My favorite nail salon in Montclair! The atmosphere is very professional, friendly, and welcoming! Jackie and Steve (owners) are truly amazing and always provide the best customer service! I highly recommend this place to anyone who is either looking to switch their nail technician or to try somewhere new. Thank you Steve for always taking care of my nails last minute. read more

It's a clean facility but the technicians are rude and pushy. I specifically asked for the basic pedicure and while trying to relax my technician consistently tried to sell me other services. When I politely said no she snickered to another technician and they both started laughing. In addition, she hurried through my "basic" pedicure leaving polish on the skin. Overall, sloppy work, poor/short massage and rude! read more

I went for a gel refill. Jackie and Steve the owners are always so welcoming!! This salon is amazing. I would recommend trying this for yourself!! Awesome atmosphere!! read more

I have used this facility several times before when my regular person(at another salon is unavailable). In past experiences the service for pedicure has been OK; no frills, simply OK. This was the last time I will never return, even though I frequent the shopping center daily. The water had floaties! YUK; I told her it was dirty & she changed the water. Then the next issue was she didn't clean my nails - I could still see the red paint from before- I opted for gold/brown & you can tell. The lady's phone rang & ok, I thought she would say I am busy & move on . . .NO; she talked on the phone the entire time I had my nails done-talk about rude. Then she got an attitude & stated something to the other co-worker in another language. I have seen this place for the last time. TJ read more

i get waxed here and its great. i run in theirs no wait they sit you down wax and are patient and i've never had a problem with shape or being burnt. The nail service is also great they have plenty of colors to choose from and even offer beverages to make your stay pleasant read more

This salon gets 5 stars for cleanliness, ambiance, presence, and HONESTY! I came in asking for something very complex and specific, instead of faking the funk and doing whatever he wanted he made it clear that he had no one with the capability to do what I wanted. That may have seemed like a turn off to some but to me it demonstrated honesty. read more

They get the job done, but that's about it. I got a basic pedicure there and didn't expect a lot of bells and whistles, but I did expect to leave feeling at least a little pampered. The salon is clean and well decorated, but the atmosphere leaves much to be desired. They didn't even have music playing so it was awkwardly silent, they didn't offer me anything to drink and then I got the fastest pedicure I've ever had, I should have just gotten a polish change and saved myself some money. read more

I walked in a few weeks ago to be serviced and I immediately felt welcomed. Diana was available to service me even though they were an hour from closing. I explained to her that I wanted to try something different for my nails. I wanted Chrome nails and the salon I had gone to previously gave me something different but called it chrome. Diana not only corrected the job they did but I absolutely loved the color and they were perfect! I got ton's of compliments on my rose gold chrome nails. I scheduled anpther appointment and went in today to see Diana again. I told her I was going to a bachelorette party this weekend and wanted something fun. She once again did an amazing job with my nails and I love them! read more

REVIEW FOR WAXING ONLY: Went in to get my eyebrows waxed. Kim took me to the back room and the first thing she says is "The person that did your eyebrows messed up. But don't worry, I'll fix them up for you!" I hate when techs do this because not only is it unprofessional, but I honestly didn't have a problem with the way my eyebrows were arched previously. I only stopped by Escape because it was convenient so rather than tooting your own horn, let your work speak for you! Well, Kim did my eyebrows and the end result was uneven, ragged and unkempt eyebrows. It honestly looked as if I had gone weeks without tending to my eyebrows at all. I wound up going back to the first tech (at another salon) that Kim said "messed me up"--she ultimately FIXED Kim's errors. read more

I've walked in a few times for eyebrow waxing, and it's been hit or miss. Sometimes I walk out with fabulous eyebrows, but others I have to go home and finish waxing myself. Not the friendliest staff, but no one has ever been rude. For eyebrow waxing I'd recommend just walking across the street to hair cuttery. It's the same price with better service. read more

I love the customer service at Escape Day Spa. My manicures and pedicures last for quite some time, and the staff is always friendly and professional. The prices are on par with the area, and booking appointments is easy and helps with the wait. Definitely recommend for anyone in the area. read more

I have been going to Escape spa for greater than 3 year. Initially, I had an a really great nail tech. However, she relocated to California. I was nervous to get a different nail tech. However, Jackie was gracious to take me on. She is absolutely amazing. She accommodates me and my schedule when she can. My nails always look amazing when I leave and they last for 3 weeks. I have only ever broken a nail once 2 year ago when a suitcase dropped on the nail. I was on my way to the airport. I called and frantically explained my situation that I was on my way to the airport. Steve was kind enough to get me in and fix it. I made my plane and the nails look amazing. Jackie also does my pedicure. My legs and toes look and feel amazing. My eyebrows are always perfect. Jackie always laughs and jokes with me. It is never boring. I always feel refreshed and happy when leaving. I will continue to go there to get my relaxing spa services. I recommend everyone try it. read more

Normally, I don't give places a try that have less than four stars, but I was staying in the area for work and there wasn't too much else nearby, so I gave it a try. I got the deluxe mani/pedi combo and it was fantastic. It was pretty busy, but she didn't rush through just to get to the next customer; which was great because I felt that I actually got what I paid for. Definitely try this place! Not to mention, it's right next to a Starbucks- always a plus. read more

What I would give to have a decent nail salon in this area! This place is bad. They try to up-sale to more expensive service but the quality of work is inconsistent and definitely not worth it. Once I left with several cuts on my foot after they put the callous remover on my foot then scrubbed it hard with the pumice stone. The selection of polish is very limited and all the choices are pretty crusty looking with color separation. It looks like they squirt a lot of that stuff in the bottles to make the polish go further. I really don't get that mentality, polish is cheap! Jenny was one tech that did a great job but she left. A long time ago I had a massage there and could hardly walk for days after due to sever pain in my back. Stay away from this place. read more

Let me start by saying this the place is clean and decorated nicely even the chairs are comfortable. However, the customer service is horrible. The nail technicians are extremely rude. I would not wish this type of treatment on my worst enemy. I came for a simple pedicure along with a callus treatment (without the razor because that is illegal) but the nail tech informed me that because I did not want the razor she can not give me the callus treatment. So, she jerked and pushed my feet. I hate to use race but at this time I was the only African American present. The entire staff was rude to me expect the manager: I will Never visit this place again read more

This was my first time getting my nails done at a salon so I wasn't sure about all the services, and my tech kept trying to sell me all these add-ons even though I told her I just wanted the basic toenail color and french tip on the fingernails. She convinced me to do a callus treatment on my feet, and I was really grossed out by the fact that it seemed like NONE of the tools for skin and nail scrubbing or cuticle cutting were kept in sanitarized jars or cleaning fluid. Then she kept encouraging me to get a special treatment that one of the other girls was getting, which I thought was just the french tip that I wanted, but turned out to be shellac. At no point did she tell me she was giving me shellac or what that even was or that it cost an extra $40. Needless to say I was shocked at the end when my bill for sub-par service came to be $70. The next day I went back to talk to the manager to try to get some of my money back. All of the technicians got angry and started talking among themselves and I couldn't understand what they were saying. Finally they told me that the shellac was $20, not $40 (which isn't what they said the day before) and that all they could give me back was $20, and if they did they would have to take the shellac off. Yes, they were literally going to make me sit and have my entire nail treatment removed just so I could get HALF of the money back from a treatment that I didn't even ask for. They were extremely rude and unapologetic, and I feel that it is swindling to push services on a client without informing them of what you are doing and what everything costs. There needs a list or pamphlet of services and prices somewhere visible in the shop, and they need to SANITIZE their tools. read more

Excellent experience! Location is so convenient. Had the powder dip manicure with Jackie. My nails look great! I plan on returning.

This place looks clean and nicely decorated but really, my good experience stops there. I cann't speak for all the nail techs but the one I got was just terrible. To start things off, I had selected a color to go as fill in for my french and gave it to her with instructions as to what I wanted, however, I got distracted reading a magazine and when I decide to look down my French pedi was completed and no color. I politely told her she did not use the color I selected but she didn't even apologize and said something like "oh but French looks better without pink" and made a gesture like she was going to add on the color on top of all the layers of paint of my finished French pedi, so I told to just leave it like that. Immediately she started looking at the door trying to get a new customer, also ignoring the fact that I had asked for pedi-Manu combo. Seriously, rude is not even enough to describe this lady's attitute. Just based on the experience with her, I won't be going back to this nail spa. read more

I had to check this place out in spite of the bad reviews because it is so close to where we moved. The reviews seem unfounded, although I am not getting a wax of any kind or gel nails. There were several gals there getting them done, and one was obviously a repeat customer. I did note that they have rooms in the back for the waxing and massages, but they were doing facial waxing in the back of the front room, right in front of where you sit to dry your nails, although a curtain blocked the view from the front. They have sterilization equipment for their tools and used sterilization chemicals in the pedicure bath. The place seemed clean with the exception of some old furniture they use to store bottles of product- you can tell they are old and this is not a hygiene problem. The bathroom wasn't as clean as I'd have liked. It needed a new coat of paint, and you could see dust collecting in the corners. You can tell they mop and wipe surfaces, but it hadn't had a deep clean in a while. I am a fanatic about the cleanliness, though, in case you couldn't tell. The staff that I spoke with were all friendly and professional, and no one was ignoring the customers. My technician spent a long time massaging my legs and feet- at least 10 min. She didn't cut me, and didn't use razors (I think that is illegal in most states now anyway). They had relatively new massage chairs, with a lot of great features. Most of the place looked new with the exception of some of the furniture used for storage and I noted they could probably stand to replace or recover their massage table. Prices were average, and I thought a decent price for the service. $25 for a pedicure, $40 and up for deluxe services. $15 for manicure, $40 for gel manicure. You could not leave a tip by credit card, FYI. They seemed on this visit to be cleaner than most small nail salons, the staff were more professional than most, and the work quality seemed above average. I actually wondered if there was some kind of smear campaign against this place, and after visiting myself, I am still suspicious of the multiple one star reviews. I'll report back if I develop any kind of infection, but so far, the place is just fine. read more

Love Escape! Jackie is amazing at eyebrows and nails. All of the staff is very kind. My sister's and friends have also been to escape and love Steve and Diane the new stylist. My sister sometimes brings my 4 year old niece and the staff always accommodates her. She has taken my niece to other salons and they look down on working with children. I have even taken my father there for pedicures. The shop is always clean and the entire staff works hard at keep it clean and making sure customers are taken care of. I also love the itemized bills you are given breaking down services. I have been to several salons where they charge you $10 for eyebrows one day and $13 the next. This has never happened to me at escape. I would give it 5 stars if they offered a larger selection of nail colors for natural manicures as well as gel. Newer variety of nail colors would be helpful. read more
