Only Tina makes one hour feel like a mini-vacation. I can't say enough about Nail Elegance -- a tiny little shop with a wonderful heart. Most of us have had Vietnamese mani/pedi experiences, but Tina's crew beats Lavande, and anything like it. The shop is warm, so is the creme they rub on your arms and legs and the hot stones they rub on your muscles. Quiet music, gentle hands.... whew that place is amazing. Went here for the 1st time last night w/ 2 girlfriends. Of course I was running late and stressing, but as soon as i plopped down in the massage chair for my pedicure, all my worries went away. For $23 i got a sugar scrub, hot stone massage w/ lotion, and parafin wax dip w/ hot towels over my feet...not bad at all! Their polish selection is really good...mostly OPI from what I saw. Its a tiny little place w/ only 3 pedicure chairs and 3 nail stations, but seemed very clean to me. Regular Manicure cost me $15, the lady that runs this place sits in the corner and does Gel polish and tells everyone else what to do. I showed up a bit early for my appointment with a friend who wanted to see if they were available to fit her in for a regular manicure, but she was turned down. I wanted to leave too but felt obligated to stay since I made an appointment. Bad customer service. My nail technician rubbed lotion all over my hands and arms including in the crevices of my engagement ring! This is unacceptable! You are not supposed to rub lotion all over anyone's jewelry! She didn't even apologize or even offer to clean it off! This is one of my go-to spots in Willow Glen, as its in walking distance from my home, they're always accommodating, and do a great job for a VERY reasonable price. The manicurists are gentle, too, and very attentive. I really enjoy coming here every week. Even though I only see one person for my nails, many of the gals know me by name including the owner, Tina. I have been going to Nail Elegance for a year now for both mani's and pedi's. I am totally addicted to this place and although there are other higher scale salons in WG that may give you cucumber water and nuts... I find myself returning here because of the value and service they provide. Tina and her staff are extremely friendly and helpful. I get the feeling that they truly value their customers. I recommend the gel manicure... no joke it lasts 3 weeks without chipping. You end up going in to soak the polish off and reapply the UV-cured gel not because it chipped but because they grow out! Super good product with lots of polish colors to choose from. Another great part about the gel is that is is 100% dry as soon as you leave the salon - I can't tell you how many traditional polish manicures I have ruined before on the drive home. I got a gel manicure here today. It is ok though there are some spots where the textures off or smudged. Also, something blew onto my nails while they were wet, and it didn't get fixed. I do appreciate that they open a sterilized pack of instruments for each customer, though. read more

I'm giving this place a 1 star because I got a pedicure from Lynn and well it was just not up to standard. 1) She hurt my cuticle. 2) scraped underneath my nail too painfully And 3) applied the wrong coat of nail polish from the one I had asked her. She picked a very similar color so I didn't notice until I went outside. I decided to give the place a second chance anyways because one technician doesn't define the whole place. The second time I went it was empty save for one other woman. I asked for a regular manicure and before painting my nails the lady asked me to pay first because she was afraid I would not pay her after receiving the work if it was chipped. I don't know about you but I have been doing my nails for 15 years and I always pay at the end not before in every salon I've been to. It was weird that she'd ask me to pay first but the other lady in there payed last. I told her not to worry that I was going to pay for the services I receive because I'm not a thief. Okay so I get my nails done they're not perfect but good enough. They place a towel on my lap and picked a drying machine off the floor and sat me on a bench next to the exit. By this time the First Lady there had left but just after her another lady came in. The place was very slow and many of the technicians were just on their phone. I had the machine drying on my lap and I was drying my nails for 10 min. The whole time the staff was looking at me apprehensively as if I was going to bolt out the door without paying. They were trying to get me to leave by trying to spray my nails with drying solution but I told them I had time to sit and properly dry my nails. Then after 15 minutes of drying (the place still empty as hell) another technician gets up very aggressively from her chair and reaches it for my hand to put some oil on my fingers. I pull away and tell her it's okay I don't want any oil on my fingers. At this point she is FURIOUS AT ME and snatches the machine from my lap and tells me I need to leave immediately and go pay. I was pissed off at being treated like I was some sort of delinquent so I threw the towel at her legs and got up and paid. I'm never going back. I was treated like a delinquent and received mediocre work. read more

After going there for 5 years, its time for a change. The owner, Tina, passes judgements on her customers. The staff is very friendly and welcoming, but Tina comes across rude and abrupt. Tina has the mentally that she is right and the customer is wrong, and continues to try to state her point until you the customer gets it. I have seen how she reacts to customers that come back to get their nails fixed and after they leave she talks bad about them. I just know that I have been that customer that she talks bad about, as least once. For a business owner to treat her customers like this is just simply poor management. I gave Tina several chances. She is not looking to maintain her existing customers, but wants to focus on the new ones. She is warm and welcoming in the beginning, but after you have gone for a while you will see her other side. I really enjoy going to Nail Elegance. They can often fit me the same day I call, the nail technicians are dressed professionally and display name tags, and they're all friendly. My nails have ALWAYS looked great when I leave (I've gotten shellac nails and pedicures done there). The salon is small, but very clean (except the UV hand things are a bit filthy) and has nice decor. I love that they include a hot stone massage in the shellac manicure and the paraffin wax, hot stone massage, and scrub in the pedicure (although the scrub definitely doesn't get rid of roughness). If I could, I would give this place negative stars. This is the most garbage nail salon I have even been to in my life. I arrived at 4:30 when I scheduled my appointment and I left at 7:45. First, my acrylics were not properly shaped and the index fingers were significantly shorter than the other nails. I went in to get it corrected. Later that night I took off my pants and I look down at my toes (mind you I just changed clothes) this is approximately 4 hours after I got my toes done and they are an absolute mess. Hands down the BEST place to get a Gelish manicure, they are so fast, and do your nails perfect! I have been going to Anne for about a year now and she is so sweet and such a perfectionist! I love this place! The only downside is they are a little expensive and the pedicures, although my toes LOOK perfect, they are very fast, so little massage and little exfoliation. I would highly recommend getting gelish manicures here, you can't go wrong! but, do make an appt, they are always busy! There is also very little smell there, which is nice to not get overwhelmed, or a headache from the acrylic smells at nail salons! read more

My daughter and I have been coming here for seven years now and we still have it. My daughter has tried other salons with her friends and has always had mediocre experiences and is glad to come back to Nail Elegance. The new massage chairs are great for pedicures and they have a great selection of colors plus you can get your eyebrows waxed while you're there. My daughter and I always bring in photos from Pinterest and some of the designs can be complicated but the gals never complain and always do a great job. Was a customer at this shop for over two years before I finally said "I'm done!!! Tina's rude, arrogant attitude is over the top. From my first visit to Nail Elegance, owner Tina was always rude and abrupt with me. She never made an effort to speak or interact with me, all the conversation effort was on my part, and when I asked a question, she was very curt, or she simply did not respond. I was careful to be polite and tried very hard to overlook her discourtesy. I thought perhaps it was her personality until I began to see how friendly she treated other customers, and then I noticed a pattern. Based on my experiences and observations, I've come to believe that Tina prefers her customers to be non-Latinas. My sister, who referred me to Nail Elegance in the first place, also experienced the same foul treatment from Tina. She too observed Tina's friendly interaction and tone with other ladies in the shop, and noticed a striking difference in how Tina treated them in comparison to my sister. We've come to believe one of two possibilities, either 1) Tina is bipolar and does not take her medication as prescribed, or 2) Tina has a bias against Latinas. T I overheard Tina tell a customer she paid over $20,000 in bank fees last year, (how much business do you have to do to rack up $20K in bank fees?). Anyway, due to bank fees, Tina did not want to accept the lady's debit card. Tina said to her, "You know all those things the credit card companies give away? I pay for those." Get a clue Tina, it costs money to make money, and if you racked up $20K in fees, sounds like you are doing too well to be so cheap! Based on the bank fees, Tina asked my sister to pay by check or cash only, but openly accepted credit/debit cards from her non-Latina customers. I guess only some people are bank-fee-worthy to Tina. Probably most important to readers who took the time to read this far, is that the workers do shoddy work. Tina claims "All my girls do good work like me." Not true; the last time I went in was in June, 2016. I was preparing for vacation so I needed a gel manicure and a couple of nails repaired. Tina was on vacation, so I had to go with Linh. Linh rushed through the manicure, cut my cuticle (which caused my finger to be sore throughout my vacation), and applied a couple of tips. Linh filed the tips so much, she took the edges right off, leaving flat. When I voiced my concern, Ngam (Sp?) intervened and attempted to fix them, but could not. She left my nails thick with powder gel, the gel was lumpy and uneven. It was such a mess I asked her to remove the tips, but she told me she could not. I was embarrassed to walk out of the shop wearing the ridiculous nails and asked f she was going to charge me given the terrible job they did. Ngam argued she should be paid because, "We work very hard." I wanted say, "Well guess what, so do I, and so do all of the customers who patronize your shop. For what I pay, I expect quality work, especially on my hands and nails, as everyone can see them!" Of course I did not say this out loud. When she was done with the damage control attempt, I asked her if we were square, and she told me we were. I then left my name and number and asked her to have Tina call me when she returned from vacation. One month passed and no return call, so I called Tina...don't know what I was thinking. True to her boorish, unprofessional self, Tina relayed to me Ngam's version of what transpired that day, and of course, the story had changed. Per Ngam, I refused to pay, and Linh and Ngam had done a great job. And oh ya, Tina used that line again, "My girls work very hard!" I guess this customer did not matter to her. Needless to say I won't be back there again, and I urge all you ladies to beware. read more

If I could give them zero stars I would! I have never experienced such horrible customer service in my life, especially from a MANAGER! My friend (who has been coming here for years) and I decided to make an appointment for two gel manicures and pedicures. We walk in and the manager tells us to go pick a color and while we're doing that, we hear her yelling at someone on the phone about how her staff does not gossip or talk about their customers in any way which made me feel extremely awkward. So we sit down for our pedicure and while I was getting my pedicure done, the technician looks at my nails and asks if they are fake and I said no but they put powder over my real nails. After she finishes my pedicure she tells me to go sit down and wait for the manager to do my nails because apparently she is the only one who knows how to shave off the powder in order to give me a manicure. So I'm waiting for 5 minutes before the manager comes up to me and says: "So we are not going to take off your nails today. It will take 45 minutes and it will hurt you too much, so instead we're just going to go over them because that is all I have time for today." At this point I'm already irritated because I had made an appointment and she STILL did not understand that she did not need to take off my nails because they were MY OWN. And there is no way shaving off the powder would take longer than 10 minutes. So I show her a broken nail that I had and asked if she could at least fix that if we do it her way and she looks at me and says: "I don't have to do anything. This is the way we are going to do it I don't have time for anything else would you like to do it this way or not?" At this point I am utterly shocked at how rude she is and I really needed to get my nails done so I tell her thats fine and proceeded to wait. I waited for another 5 minutes and I see her going over and telling my friend something while the technician who did my pedicure comes up to me and asks me if I want to pay for my pedicure. I tell her kindly that I was just going to wait to pay for both services when the manager does my nails and she then says to me that I won't be getting my nails done today because they don't have time to take my nails off. I tell her that the manager just said that she was just going to fill my nails instead and she said the manager told her she didn't have time to do my nails at all. At this point I am fed up and ask to speak to the manager. The manager comes up to me and says "So I heard you wanted to speak to me? Did you want to go outside and talk?" And I said "No I would like to talk to you in here!" to which she responds with "Well...I have customers in here." At this point I am ready to yell but I tell her as calmly as possible that I don't understand what is going on to which she responds with "You made an appointment for a gel manicure and I don't have time to take off your nails and none of my other technicians know how to do it so I can't do your nails today." I was too angry to even try and explain to her for the tenth time she did not have to take any nails off so I just told her that this was absolutely ridiculous, paid for my pedicure, and walked out. The worst part about all of this? My friend calls me after she leaves and said the manager went up to her and said: "So would you be mad if I don't do your friends nails? She is being very rude and not listening to me and I just don't want to do her nails." REALLY? First rule of customer service lady, the customer is ALWAYS RIGHT! She is the WORST manager I have ever encountered in my entire life! She lost not only a potential brand new customer, but she lost a longtime customer in my friend who said she will never go back there again because of how rude, unprofessional, and embarrassing she was. STAY CLEAR of this place, there are plenty of better nail salons in San Jose. And their pedicure was horrible on top of all that. Worst $25 I have ever spent. read more

I'm VERY hard on nail shops. Call me the "Ugly Customer" but this salon is EXCELLENT!!! The salon is always very clean. The owner, Tina, remembers every customer. The service great because of their attention to detail- unlike what I call "assembly line shops" where the nail tech isn't even looking at what she's doing she's just quickly going through motions. Every customer is treated with genuine respect and kindness whether they're a regular or a walk-in. AND the quality of work is consistent with all of the techs employed! The first time I went to this salon I was amazed! The quality and service were great. The second through fourth time also great. The fifth time was the last time I will ever go there. These ladies like to skimp on services when Tina the manager isn't there, but never had they done something so gross and cheap. I had started taking friends there, raving about the quality. I was truly embarrassed the last time when I took a good friend there, who knows quality nail services. On Tuesdays they offer free sugar scrubs, but Tuesday is also Tina's regular day off. They were pushing gel nails after I specifically said I just wanted a manicure and a pedicure. The lady had an attitude with me after I declined the gel nails. As a client do I not have the right to pick my treatment? SMH... anyways during my SHORT massage (6 min's or less) she dropped the lotion mixture that is rubbed on my legs and didn't even bother to replace it, probably explains the short massage. I paid $25.00 for a lousy pedicure and decided to decline the whole getting my finger nails done after seeing how they sucked at my pedicure. I have been here about 4 times now and I am always pleased with my nails and the service. The owner/manager is so personable and remembers all of her clients. All of the ladies are very sweet and gentle and make sure you have the outcome you asked for. I never do this, but I happened to be in the salon the day Gabriela M. (5/21 review) came in, and Tina (owner) was anything BUT rude to her. Tina was simply trying to explain to her what may happen if they were to do what she was asking them to do (she had been in the day before, and wanted them to re-do something. If they were to re-do them, as Gabriela was requesting, it may cause damage). Before Tina could tell her that she would do whatever the customer wanted, this girl had already berated Tina and stormed out of the salon. I have been coming to this salon, and to Tina, for years now; she and her staff go out of their way to make sure you have a great experience, and that you leave happy. She has even made sure to tell me and my MIL to point out ANYTHING we are unhappy with to her girls, as this is how they learn. This woman was clearly having a bad day (or week); this was apparent to everyone in the salon that morning. After snapping at the owner and storming out, she then called to berate the owner further, which obviously wasn't cleansing enough, hence the bad review below. My "mom" took her daughter and me here for a pedi. The place is kind of small but has three chairs and is clean. They even have a mini vacuum lying around. Our appointment was at 12:30 and they sat us down at 12:30. I got Tina. For a pedi, Tina started off by cutting my cuticles. Finally someone who can cut without making me bleed. Then she scrubbed my legs and feet with some soap and a brush, gave me a massage with hot rocks and (the best part) wrapped my feet in a bag of wax. This place will accept walk-ins but would rather book appointments. They have disposable sandals and will use new toe separators every time. read more

I don't think I will go back again. I went for a pedicure and was asked to schedule an appointment for later in the day. They were busy so I booked one. I went back 10 minutes before my appointment was due. I waited for my turn for 15 minutes, then I was asked to take a seat and dip my feet in the hot water. Soon after, two ladies entered the salon and were seated too. As soon as the first attendant got free, she went to take care of the other lady who came after me. I thought it was a mistake and waited, patiently. Then, the second free attendant went to assist the other lady. All this while, I'm sitting there and waiting for someone to give an explaination. The owner simply looked at me and went about her job. I know that she took down appointments in her neat writing pad and was very clear about scheduling time etc. But when it came to seating as per appointment, she failed to act accordingly. I asked her from where I was seated if it was going to take any longer. I had been waiting for 10 mins aftermy due time. She gave me a lame reason that the next available attendant will be with me, shortly. The attendant did a so-so job on the pedicure. Needless to say, I could have received better service and a better treatment at any other salon nearby. For asking for something so basic as a pedicure , I got a lousy experience. Blah. I tried to schedule an appointment for 6:15 on Wednesday for a pedicure and was disappointed with the rude customer service. I had a good experience at Nail Elegance, but this particular call changed my views immediately. She first suggested 6, but I said I could not make the time because I had work. She exhales a breathe of annoyance and hesitantly agrees. I don't understand what the problem is when the store hours are clearly marked for 7 pm. I call later to tell her that I will be 5 to 10 minutes late due to traffic. In a aggressive and unprofessional manner, she says this it will not work. I decided to cancel my appointment altogether. My Mom recommended this place, and my mani/pedi from Thursday (now 4 days old) is still quite good - and I even got a dark color. The employees are nice, but offish, but do a nice job. I was kind of weirded out by their pedi chairs, even though my Mom swears it's really clean. They also do parafin wax as part of the basic pedi, which I've never had, but was kind of neat. The decor is wild glitter/flower/tropical fantasy storm, the space is really small and inside this funky indoor strip mall. Most annoying part of the whole experience was the Real Housewives of Willow Glen strutting around, talking on phones, making pouty-lip faces at themselves in the mirrored wall. Best place ever for Shellac! It's only $25 and you will be in and out in less than a half hour. The color selection of gel polishes is the largest I've ever seen and all the employees there are extremely friendly. The interior is very clean and organized and decorated nicely. All the tools they use come from sealed, sterilized packages and each employee also uses gloves as they work. The best part is the hot-stone/lotion massage at the end of your manicure. My nails always look perfect as soon as I leave here. I will definitely only be coming here to get shellac from now on. read more

I have been here twice for pedicures and had a good experience. Both times the atmosphere was relaxed. I appreciate how it feels comfortable and not "snooty" like other places.
