Update: June 5, 2012 The cut that was inflicted during my pedicure has become infected despite the fact that I have been pouring peroxide on it multiple times a day since the incident. I highly recommend that you avoid Nail Elegance as their negligence and unsatisfactory hygiene standards isn't worth the risk. I forgot to mention that this was also the worst pedicure I've had in terms of rough skin removal. When I left there, you couldn't tell that I got a pedicure except for the fact that the polish looked fresh. Definitely not worth $25...wouldn't go back if it was free! I had a horrible experience at Nail Elegance. I honestly can't understand how they have 4 stars on Yelp. First if all the place is dirty. I sat down at the pedicure chair and first thing I noticed is that it hadn't been cleaned from the prior appointment. The lady made a half attempt to wipe it down which showed me their standards aren't what they should be considering the type of business. If that wasn't enough, their service was terrible. The communication during my entire time there consisted of grunts and pointing and it wasn't because my pedicurist didn't speak english. And it gets worse! I was bleeding within 1 minute of starting my pedicure! The pedicurist dug in hard and sliced open my toe next to my nail. I pulled back and let her know it hurt. Immediately blood started dripping and she hardly acknowledged let alone apologized. It's been throbbing all day and I'm hoping that it doesn't end up infected given the lack of high hygienic standards of the salon. I am a regular customer and highly recommend the gel manicures - they last forever! I typically go every 2 weeks for a mani/pedi, but sometimes wait 3 weeks because my nails still look great. I suggest booking an appointment on the weekends as they are usually pretty busy. read more

I think this would be a good place if you're a woman that gets her nails done every week/bi-weekly, However, I don't have the capital or time to do that, so I usually get my pedicure once in a while (to really rejuvenate my poor little toes) and will change my polish myself. I wanted to pamper myself today and get a full blown pedicure with the works! The winter has been rough and my feet needed some real good lovin'. Unfortunately, my regular salon was completely booked. I decided to try Nail Elegance because of all the awesome reviews -- hot stone massage? FANCY! Well.. I was completely underwhelmed by my pedicure experience. The hot stone massage was pretty short and weak, and I actually got burned from it. Exfoliation was very minimal and I don't even think the nail tech filed/buffed my nails. I opted for a french tip, and unfortunately, even that wasn't really up to par. I had to keep asking her to fix it and make it straight/even. She also didn't clean my prior nail polish off completely -- i could see chips of color.. on the middle of the nail bed! OH.. it was also the shortest pedicure I've ever had.. maybe 20-25mins.. tops! I definitely didn't feel any type of pampering. My feet don't feel luxuriously silky soft like they normally would with my regular place. Actually, I can still feel some spots on my feet that totally needed more exfoliation or something. beh. So, like I said before, it's probably a good place if you get your nails done really regularly and aren't looking for full pampering/the works. I'm definitely FAR from a picky or high maintenance girl.. pedicures are total pampering splurges for me, and I just felt like I wasted this month's treat. Going to Tina's shop every two weeks is just a little bit of pampering I give to myself. I love the experience, and enjoy talking to the other wonderful woman that go here for their pampering. I've never been to another nail salon where it feels like "Dolly Parton's" salon in Steel Magnolias. It's great female (and male) bonding. I get the pedi/mani and it is wonderful. Great massage, with the massage chair, hot stone and paraffin wax treatment. Wonderful!! Tina advised my to get the "GEL" nails and she was right on! They look and feel natural and will last up to 3 weeks. She's got great color to chose from and perfectly applied, and dries quickly without being tacky. The manicure also includes hot stone massage. I leave the salon feeling wonderful, and looking good. Price-wise, I think that it's competitive. It's $50 for a pedi/manicure. Nail Elegance is a local business in Willow Glen and I encourage and prefer to support my town. I highly recommend!! This is my first negative review on yelp for the past couple of years (!). Very bad service, bad quality. It's not worth the money or the effort to try to get an appointment on a busy day and be disappointment over and over again. The 4 stars rating is unjustified imo. The girls are always in a rush to finish before their next client and are only given 20-30 to finish their job. Hence they give up quality over the quantity of customers they can manage to squeeze in. It's relatively cheap, but in this case you totally get what you pay for. If your late and want reschedule the appointment they are not going to be flexible and try to find a window. I have even been told by the owner once that they have enough clients and that if I want to reschedule I should look for another place! Done with this place. Going to switch to a place with a better service, where people actually WANT you back as a customer, i'm sure it's not going to be hard to find. read more

Tina and the ladies at Nail Elegance are the best! My grandma and I have been coming here for years and I have never been disappointed. Their gel manicures last about two weeks and they have 600+ colors to choose from. The staff is so friendly, and I especially love that they take such good care of my 80 year old grandma (they treat her like a celebrity when she walks in and always gets the best treatments)! Their pedicures are amazing, $25 for paraffin wax and hot stones. Gel manicures are $25, lower than any other salon in the area. Best pedicure ever! This salon has great service. They do hot rock massages, warm towel, and paraffin wax treatments with all of their manicures and pedicures. They have massage chairs, relaxing music, and floral decor, too. The staff are very hard working and friendly. There is a great color selection for gel and regular polish. Would definitely recommend. OK this place seems to evoke strong reactions. As a man I like to feel welcome in a place that is traditionally for women. I got used to pedicures in asia so I continue here. The ladies in this place are all friendly and when not overworked pretty amusing too. They made me feel ok being there. They are all from Vietnam. They are not artists so they did not have an easy time drawing a manly lightening bolt across my big toe nail. Their scrubbing and hot wax treatment was relaxing. And when I walk out of there I do feel I'm on new feet! Very Refreshed! I saw them get newly cleaned tools from their autoclave or sterilizer in the rear. They wash the basins with antiseptic cleaner after each customer. The place seemed well maintained. I really don't know what some of the reviewers saw but my experience in 5 visits has been just fine. The gals English language skills are not great. Great stop for a manicure/pedicure. Very attentive employees. I had the pedicure, and got a mini-spa treatment. Warm cream on the feet and legs, stones rubbed over the areas, nice relaxing massage chair that works on your back muscles. Ahhh.......pleasant music playing. This is a first class shop. I don't know why there are so many bad reviews lately... I've been going here for years, and just recently got a mani/pedi for a wedding. It's not the cheapest place, but I do appreciate my nails lasting a lot longer than other cheap places in this area. The ladies always do a great, careful job. They tend to be more on a quiet side, which I appreciate, especially when I want to relax with a magazine or book. Tina, the owner, is always professional and has really high standards. She's running a business with hundreds of clients and tons of workers, but still manages to remember me by name (even on the phone)! She cares about appearance and cleanliness of the store, and makes sure everyone is having a great experience and happy with the results. I have seen her interact with rude customers, and yes, she does put her foot down sometimes, because some of the customers can be unreasonable and unrealistic. I don't think she should have to stress out due to your lack of planning. And yes, the customer is always right, but the store does have the right to take or not take your business. I went here for the 2nd time today, and had a great experience! I went last weekend for a pedicure because my usual place across the street wasn't picking up their phone when I tried to call and make an appointment. I am so glad they didn't pick up the phone! The pedicure was great - nice massage chair, hot stone massage and paraffin wax are included in the basic pedicure. You are in and out pretty fast, so if you are hoping to have a long spa experience, you might be disappointed. Today I went for a "Gellish" manicure and I much prefer Nail Elegance to other salons who do Shellac. They use a LED light instead of the UV (less harmful for your skin) and they don't soak your nails in acetone soaked cotton balls to remove it. They are all about using nontoxic materials whenever possible. I really appreciated that! They are also priced more competitively than other salons in the area. I am so excited to have a new nail salon! I didn't do 5 stars only because I missed the water and snacks that some other salons offer. But, I will happily bring my own beverage to get better service! read more

Now that I am a regular I can say that I'm so happy I finally found my nail place! I've been switching places for over 3 years until one day one of my previous nail salons ( around the corner from Elegance) told me I had to come back in 40 minutes even though I was on time for my appointment . I didn't have the time to wait and I can say now I was very lucky Tina took me right in without a minute wait. I think she's very smart in taking new customers whenever possible because in that first time you can see how the business is run. This is a tiny place, super clean at all times, full of girls who majorly know what they are doing. I love that there's no TVs..just background soft music. It took me a few times to get to know one of the girls I really like: Julie, and she's my "gel manicure" girl..focused, knows her stuff, nice person..for pedicure I've been getting whoever Tina puts me with but they are all good. My only constructive criticism would be to have them wear name tags so we remember who we want. I love that your appointment time is always respected..no bs of waiting 15 min when you got there. Tina has all the girls working non stop, very professional and they always make sure you are at ease and happy. I highly recommend calling for an appointment in advance..you may get lucky but why take chances? They have tons of colors for both gels and regular polish and yes..it's a little pricey compared to other places..but for the first time in YEARS both my manicure and pedicure last over 2 weeks without a single scratch! My nails are finally growing and I can see it! This is why the price is worth it for me and they get 5 stars nonetheless . This place is a triple threat- their prices are affordable, they do a really good job on their manicures and they are fast. It is so rare to find a place that gets you in and out in a short amount of time without rushing the process and leaving you with a bad job. I've consistently gotten gel manis here that last 2-3 weeks with no chips. I trusted Tina to do my nails for my wedding and she did a beautiful job on my shellac French mani. TINA IS A SAINT! I have been a customer of nail elegance since 2008 & refuse to go anywhere else to get my nails done. As much as I missed my parents while in Southern California for college, I might have missed Tina and her amazing staff even more. (Sorry mom.) Not only does she always accommodate me when I call for short notice "emergency" appointments, I always see her try to accommodate walk-ins as well. I don't think I have ever had to wait for an appointment either, but if you do, they have Dum Dums lollipops in the sitting area which can occupy like 4 minutes of your time! All of the women who work there are equally as efficient & talented so I never have to call to request a specific person. I have gotten just about every service they offer done on my nails, from gel manicure to french acrylics, & the product quality is top notch. They have so many color options / brands for gel polish to choose from...its actually insane. I have major commitment issues & they are always so patient with me as I attempt pick from the 40 variations of periwinkle. Also, huge fan of their pedicure chairs, who doesn't enjoy a nice back massage moment while having their feet soak in paraffin wax? Its like the adult version of seven minutes in heaven. They are also all super great with children!! I frequently bring my little cousins to get their nails done & the staff is always happily up for the challenge of drawing Olaf from Frozen on a big toe. I'm new to the Willow glen area so finding a new go-to nail spot was a must. There are several salons in the area but I was fortunate to stop at nail elegance first and by a recommendation from my mother. Reservations are advised as this place is well know. A quick call ahead should do the trick. They'll tell you when to come in and not to just sit and wait like most salons do. The ladies who work here are all about creating an environment that allows you to relax, but at the same time are very professional in what they do. Both the pedicures and manicures are top notch, and the paraffin wax and hot stone massage are added bonuses. They also offer the OPI product gelish, which extends your manicure by at least 2 weeks and is such a steal! I will NEVER return here. I had a horrible experience. Well I'm sure it could have been worse, but I'm so spoiled with my regular lady/place. So their customer service and energy was horrible. She didn't scrub my feet well and didn't clean-up my toes thoroughly. I had to ask her THREE times to clean my cuticles and toes well. What the hell? Then she just gave me some look. Really horrible experience. I got a normal manicure and pedicure. They "cut and shaped my nails"- but after I got home I noticed they were left very long and sharp. The polish was uneven, and I had to specify multiple times to have my cuticles cut correctly. My nails were soaked in cold water and no cuticle oil was applied so it was uncomfortable when they pushed them and the cuticles were left jagged and rough leading to hang nails the next day. Polish was dried hastily with some quick dry drops, and as they used 3 coats of color, it smeared quickly after leaving the salon. A few women came in while I was there to have similar chips and smears fixed. The salon was very clean which gets them 2 stars, however I would never go back. The ladies were nice but just seemed like they were poorly trained our used to getting away with doing a poor job. read more

I have been coming to nail elegance regularly for over 6 years, and can't imagine going anywhere else. My sister who lives in SF even comes down here for her Mani/pedis. It is very clean but still welcoming and comfortable. There is not the nail salon smell we are often familiar with. The owner Tina knows here customers names and preferences so there is a neighborhood feel fitting for Willow Glen. It is also notable that Tina treats her employees very well which I appreciate. There is high quality control and Tina and the rest of the staff provide recommendations when needed. I get the gel polish and there are SO many colors to choose from. Not only was it DIRTY (basins, their floors, sinks, etc), but I even had to ask if the equipment they used was cleaned. I swear, I saw the lady doing my pedi just "rinse off" the cuticle cutter from the man before she used it on me! The employees, including Tina herself was very rude and made me really uncomfortable. They rushed me in and out in about 30 minutes and when the pedicurist slipped on my flip-flops to move me quickly out of the chair when she was done ruined the paint on one of my toes, she was really annoyed I asked her to re-do it.
