Finding a last minute nail salon can be stressful. Fortunately that Nail Bar took me and my best friend in in prep of my wedding. The salon is pretty clean and cozy. My pedicure was solid experience but my manicure was fabulous. I want to give a special highlight to Linda!!! Linda is gem and a rockstar! She got my nail done super well for my wedding. I showed her a pic of what I wanted and she did it 10000x better. They lasted so long. Minus a minor ding they were SO good and lasted a month. I highly recommending booking Linda at Nail Bar. So I wasn't going to make this review but I feel inclined to seeing as a nail popped off (not chipped or cracked, the entire thing is off) not even 48 hours later. On Friday, I sat in the car as I thought if I should go in or not. I was in the area and they had just opened. Therefore I knew I could get in right away if no appointments were made. I came in originally intended to get acrylic toes (ended up not getting it, no fault on them) and this cute ombré sort of look on small acrylic nails. While getting a regular pedicure, I opted out of the acrylic toes. The owner of the salon, who told me before even checking in that she'll be doing my nails, asked to see the picture again to take on her phone. Now the lady who did my toes, I have no complaints like always, same with the lady who waxed my brows (will add photo of what I wanted vs what I got. So with this specific style it was a pink ombré look on the hands. It requires an airbrush to produce this look. The owner obviously knew this. As you could probably guess the airbrush did not work. Which isn't what frustrated me, what frustrated me is that the owner had all the time while she was just walking around to check the airbrush. Especially if that's the only one they have/available. She went the 2 different nail technicians (the amount I know of) to try to get them to fix it but nothing. So in the picture of the color I got on my hands and toes is what I wanted to substitute the white in the middle on the ombré. Obviously, to achieve this look I had to have the base (background/perimeter) be a darker pink. The owner told me there's nothing she can do, it's simply not working. She offered cat eye as an alternative and I entertained a few options. If you're ever had or seen ,cateye you'll know it's nothing like what I wanted. When the owner removed the cateye I told her I didn't want the color. She fake had an attitude that she had to drill all of the nail polish off and repaint them. But I'm the one who should've had an attitude, it was a disappointing experience before but I don't like tainting a business name. I did absolutely nothing that would weaken my nails to the point that 1 nail would come off in less than 24 hours. I paid around $110 money wasted. I requested plain nails that should've been done properly and last a month long. There were dips on all of my nails and two that barely had an apex come off less than a week later. Sandy was the lady to do my nails and took advantage when I let her know it had been a long time since I had my nails done. When I was getting my pedicure done I watched Sandy walk in with food which was probably why she went too fast and did poorly. Alex and Andy were did amazing. I had done a dipped manicure from a salon close to my home but 11/2 from Wedding Venue and one of the finger nails polish split in half and pulled away from the nail. I'm new to this area and was looking for a place to get a no chip pedicure. A family member had recommended this place to me. An older lady was available to do the job. She was extremely slow and my pedicure took about an hour and a half for no reason at all. I was previously wearing no chip on my toes and she acted as though she did not know how to remove it. She got the filing drill and only filed off the topcoat and then attempted to "soak" the rest of the polish off my feet. Unnecessary. The polish job was sloppy and she did not trim my toenails properly. $50 down the drain. The icing on the cake was after I paid she kept my credit card! I did not realize it until the next day that my credit card was not in my purse. She made no attempt to inform me that my card was left on accident! The other ladies working in the shop seemed efficient and quick and a lot of the women that I saw seemed happy with their nails however I was not. Maybe I was just given the wrong person. I made an appointment to make sure they can accommodate people. I got a Mai Tai Pedicure. It was one of the BEST pedicures I've had in a long time! My callouses are gone. My nails looks amazing. Initially i had DMed this nail salons instagram because the idea i had in mind was a bit complicated but compared to the designs shown on their instagram this should have been no problem. They quoted me around $76 plus the gems as you can see in the screenshot. When i went in for my scheduled appointment it was like they had no idea what was going on. I had to repeatedly show the picture to multiple people which is exactly what i wanted to avoid. My nail tech and i had a hard time communicating because of a language barrier but had they actually paid attention to instagram DMs and ran things more professionally this would have never been an issue. it took 15 minutes just to get my nails started. This is annoying when i have a baby at home that i'm trying to get home to not to mention this could have been avoided. I showed her over and over what i wanted and she showed me her work to get an idea of what i wanted. i could immediately tell that what she was going to do was going to be nothing like the picture i showed. This is truly just a nail salon, don't expect a nail technician that can do designs like they show online. And if they do have people that really do work like their instagram they should have scheduled me for one of those people knowing well this lady can't do marble or a nice ombré like i wanted. i had to have her fix the ombré a couple time because it was not blended like i wanted. Don't get me wrong, she was a good nail tech, but not great. Don't expect anything complicated or exquisite even if that's what they promise you. My nails ended up looking pretty nice. At the end of when i went to pay they told me it was $120. Let me tell you i was shook. i'm not broke i can afford it so i paid it. but i had to ask her how it was that much and why. She said it was the gems. First of all, these aren't Swarovski. Second, they were done by some 16 year old girl. For this price i expect PERFECT nails because if i went to a nail nail tech that does a perfect job, it's around $100 for a freestyle set. Gems and length included. Also they quoted me $76 for the first set i sent which was way more complicated than the set i actually got. They didn't touch my cuticles which i couldn't believe. You should be trimming them, putting cuticle oil, all of that. They definitely don't put in the work like that. My nails weren't even close to my cuticle so i cut them off after a week and a half because they looked so grown out. So i paid $120 PLUS TIP (because i'm not a piece of shit) but i would never come back. Go on instagram look elsewhere. i recommend @thee_kahuna if you're in the Chicago area. read more

Very disappointed in this new business. I've worn an acrylic overlay on my (medium length) nails for years. It's unfortunate when a nail tech who claims that he has over 20 years of experience doesn't know how to treat such nails. If that were true, he would've known how NOT to file down the sides of the nail, thinning out the acrylic to the point that my real nails were exposed! Also, LISTENING to a potential regular customer goes a long way. I expect the shape of my nails to be the same as they were when I sat down. Square with rounded corners means just that. He ignored what I said and filed the tops of my nails, leaving the corners sharp. LASTLY, I was charged more than what was advertised in their brochure. My first visit is now my last visit! Should have read the recent reviews but learned my my lesson, This place is trash. For $45 they don't even clean your cuticles or do a typical manicure "clean-up" of fingers. They rush through it, and also leave out the massage part. The dip was done poorly and was very thick and chunky. Plus the dip powder looked very different than the end result. Went back to fix, waited an hour only to be told I would have to pay full price to fix it. Owner was very rude when I tried to get correction. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. read more

My daughter went to this salon to get a full set of nails. Upon arriving they soaked the set she had on off. Her nails we perfectly fine. The nail tech rushed through her nails. Digging too deep into the nail bed and the acrylic was put on terribly. One week later a nail fell off exposing the beginning of nail fungus. She went back immediately to have the other nails soaked off ti make sure there weren't more. To her dismay she had three additional nails that had developed fungus. The lady told her that she didn't get it from there because it takes three weeks in order to get fungus . She has been getting her nails done for years without this problem. After a struggle they did refund her nails but didn't even try to put and antifungal on it or anything. I'm so glad I didn't go to this place as I had planned to also. The manicurist rushed through: had me hold my nails for 10 minutes in the acetone, burned my nail with the drill, then sloppily applied powder that didn't even reach my cuticles on some of my fingers. Ive gotten my nails done here probably 5 times now. I get acrylic gel -- I feel it truly depends on who you go to for what kind of quality service ur going to receive. I don't know the name of the girl who did my last two sets but she had done an amazing job on my past 2 sets (she sits on the end by the left sink.) This time however I got someone Ive never seen there before. I got a full new set of acrylic gel. When I asked for what I wanted he didn't understand at first (i didn't know the name of the reflective butterflies and things they lay in the clear acrylic) even though my past two sets I've had them do that on my nails. I left spending $90 on this set, I figured it'd be up there in price since its a full new set from start. I also got two full nails of those gems they've posted on here - they all are almost off my nail gone and I got my nails done Saturday - it's only Tuesday. They dont look horrible but definitely not the best set i've had- this will probably be my last time coming here.
