The sushi rolls were huge!! Which I don't really like however it was okay. The rice and veggies plus the meat was all so good. The guy who cooked in front of us was amazing and great with my son! However the soup and salad was horrible. Also the bathroom is disgusting. However the woman taking our order was extremely rude. We had been sitting for about 5 minutes and they came to take our order. We weren't all ready and she came back 2 minutes later and told us that we had been sitting for too long and needed to order. Then wouldn't listen to us about what we didn't want on our sushi roll. and she brought us boxes as soon as the guy left from cooking. We were just rushed the entire time the woman was very pushy. The part that almost made me walk out was when a server came up and got in my 3yr Old's face and asked if he fell or got a bruise and was questioning me as his mother about a mark on his face. Service with a smile ended at the front door. I don't know if it was poor scheduling or if people called out from work because of the Labor Day holiday, but there were only 2 servers in the table section and neither were very pleasant. It was clear they were not happy to be there. The resteraunt was somewhat clean. When the server brought us our lunch plates he was impatient. We had only had our appetizer for a few minutes when he brought them. While we were trying to finish our bite of the appetizer and move it at the same time, he was trying to set our plates down almost simultaneously. That was crazy. He also reached across the table in front of my husband's face for something instead of asking for it or even saying "excuse me". Actually, he didn't say much of anything and never checked on us through the meal. If he and the other server were not happy working there, that is no reason to take it out on the customer. Remember, your tip counts on your service. To Insure Prompt Service. Keep a smile on and apologize to the customer for any delays. Saying nothing, rushing and avoiding the customer is not service. I know, I've been there. But, the food was not bad. A little odd, but not bad. The "ginger" dressing was watered down tasting Thousand Island dressing. Customer service was great and food was even better! Service staff were very helpful and funny, often making jokes with us and promptly refilling our drinks. We ordered hibachi and the cook was a little boring (you could tell he was tired) but still tried to keep us entertained. Please be sure to deny the soup that you get when you first sit down for hibachi!! It is absolutely disgusting and I can't even place a name on the taste but it was extremely unappetizing. One spoonful was enough to almost make me leave. An interesting point is that if you would let the soup sit for too long, it would begin to form layers, and the top layer was very thick and watery! Not sure what soup this was but I do not recommend you eat it! The salad was very good, although there was a little too much "seafood sauce" on it. I ordered the chicken hibachi which was very good and was cooked in good time. My favorite part was the rice and eggs; it was perfectly seasoned and was very delicious, I highly recommend! The veggies and chicken were also very good, and I don't even like vegetables all that well. I took my son here for the first time after Hurricane Ida and during the Covid 19 Delta spike. 1 of the waitresses wanted to seat me at the Hibachi table with just 2 other people right next to the 2 other people. When i asked for the seats on the other side of the table (social distancing for my unvaccinated 6 yo) the waitress declined and I told her we are sitting here anyway. She stormed of ranting in her native language to another waitress who was rude to everyone at the table. Food was at best average but the chef was good. My son enjoyed it, however I wont be returning to give them my business again. I can't help wondering if the waitresses did something to my drinks. They gave me ugly stares the entire time. These people are extremely rude. The service is the worst I've had in any restaurant. We we got there at 8:45, and ordered our food. It came out 15 minutes later. (We we're happy at this point, so when they brought out the check and tipped well) They are now turning off the lights at 9:25 and to close up for 9:30. They just stared us down while we tried to finish our up our meal. They were not happy we were there. It was 9:32 and they told us we have to leave as they are closing and we can't stay here. By this time I already tipped them far more than I should have, the food is too pricy for such a poor service. These people don't care, and in my opinion should be shut down. Our drinks were "forgotten". Told the staff of a mushroom allergy, yet the chef made the food with the mushrooms right in the food. This contaminated the grill and compromised all the food, making the meal inedible. Got up to leave, explaining to the waitress the reason for our departure, but she had no concern for the issue -- the possibility of anaphylactic shock caused by the consumption of even a trace of the mushrooms and the lawsuit that would follow. Will never return Think this issue is funny?? When you have an allergy, it's not funny. Consuming the very food you have a serious allergy to can cause death if an epi-pen is not readily available. The restaurant looks clean, though the tables could use some work because they were scratched up and a little sticky. The food was a good price for what we got and was delicious. We tried 4-5 different sushi rolls and it did not disappoint. The only other problem I had was that our waiter didn't refill our waters. The toilets in the women's room need to be cleaned. It is obvious that no one has cleaned the toilet bowls in a long time. It's pretty disgusting. At this point, we just wanted to box the hibachi and leave. We asked for them to remove the roll completely and that we were leaving after we paid for The hibachi (that we still hadn't touched) We were told "NO, he remake now." No. Now we do NOT want it. So we got up & left... not after they tried to tell me we couldn't leave and I told them to shove the 2 waters right up their a** bc that's all that was touched. When we were living in Hammond, this was me and my husband's go to place for sushi. We absolutely love their Amazing roll, Pink Lady appetizer, and Mississippi roll. We also love their whitetail, yellowtail, tuna, and mackeral nigiri. We've only had bad service once so I chalk it up to that particular server or maybe it was a busy night, and she was covering too many tables or [insert personal reasons]. One of the most bizarre dining experiences I've had in a while. Granted, I arrived 20 minutes before closing. But if serving was an imposition, they could have turned me away. The Pink Lady roll was actually very fresh... It would have been delicious had it not been for the 7-8 staff members staring at me while I ate. I suppose this is the only restaurant where employees don't have closing duties. Seriously... They had nothing better to do than stare at me. Some stood, others sat... But they all seemed to very impatiently watch every bite I put in my mouth. The Beef Udon reminded me of dirty dish water. Zero flavor and the beef had a very unusual texture... I'm still not sure why that's even on the menu. The sad part is this may be an immigrant owned business... Someone who has sunk their heart, soul and last dollar into this venture in pursuit of the American dream... Only to have it ruined by some minimum wage employees who aren't suited for the hospitality industry. Successful people don't get there by cutting corners or pushing customers away. I am very disappointed in this location. My son and I have enjoyed eating the Hibachi here for several years. We arrived today around 1:37 PM for the lunch Hibachi and was greeted at the door by the manager who told us that Hibachi closed at 1:40 and she would not seat us. I asked why and she stated that this has always been this way. Please understand that we have always enjoyed this location and now we we're suddenly turned away. Even though on the door it's states Hibachi is open for lunch until 2:00. The manager was not concerned that we were returning customers or even that there was people behind us waiting for the same thing. I left the location and called back to speak with the owner and a lady told me the owner does not speak English and asked what the issue was. I explained it to her and she basically told me if was not there problem and and that the Hibachi closed at 1:45. Now. So what time should the customer follow the one on the door or the times the workers make up, when they don't want your business. Believe me this location will never get my hard earned money again. It's just sad that we had been loyal customers for 5 year and so quickly a business can wash there hands with you. So now I will wash my hands with them. read more
