I am writing this in the hopes that no one else ends up paying way more than they anticipated. We ordered some rolls and requested soy paper - we found out later that it's an extra $3 per roll. We were not informed prior to the rolls being made that this charge had changed... had we known, we would've just ordered elsewhere. If you're buying 2-3 inexpensive rolls, the extra charge for soy paper could literally buy another roll or two. Keep this in mind before ordering here. I keep going back to Green Tea. The quality of their fish surpasses other sushi restaurants in Covington. This is one of the few sushi places that does not make my stomach upset after eating. The takeout service sucks. They charge you for go containers without telling and are way too stingy with the wasabi and ginger and soy sauce packets, even when you politely request more. To be clear, I'm not asking for huge quantities more. But a little more than the usual would be nice. We ordered four rolls tonight and only one container (two rolls) came with a negligible amount of ginger and wasabi. The other two rolls (in another container) came with nothing. Despite us specifically asking for extra on the phone, we actually received less than what is standard. For three years we have been dining in and ordering takeout here. And for that long, whenever we order takeout and request extra ginger and wasabi on a takeout order, we never get it. They always tell us they will throw a little extra in and it never happens. They never forget to charge us extra $ for the to-go containers, though. To be clear, we're not asking for entire containers of extras stuff. Just a little extra. At least enough ginger and wasabi for each of the rolls we order. And frankly, if you're going to charge us for the go container, then go ahead and charge us for the extra ginger and wasabi too. By all means please do! I just want to enjoy my expensive sushi meal- is that so much to ask for? Apparently it is, and we are fed up with it, so we are going down the street from now on to get our sushi, where at least they don't secretly charge us for go containers while simultaneously not providing enough condiments. read more

I tried to tell the lady that gave me my bill to charge me for todays items and that that they needed to update the prices on THEIR Facebook page. She asked us if we needed anything every 5 minutes. Then took our plates away (and almost our chopsticks) before we were even finished eating. And then she took 15 minutes to come take the bill from me because she wanted to talk to her new table about their baby and hold it. I've ordered take out here a couple times, and I've dropped in for both lunch and dinner. Each time, the food has exceeded my expectations. The service at the bar has been very fast, certainly faster than table service, though table service has been reasonable, too. My absolute favorite roll is the Angel roll, though I've yet to eat any sushi here that I didn't thoroughly enjoy, and they have the best fried crab wontons around here! I love that I can drop by for a quick bite and be on my way in less than 20 minutes with a full belly. Tucked back in the strip mall on Hwy 21 just off interstate 12, I passed by many times. We stopped by accident really but were pleasantly surprised! It had a smart casual decor with comfy little booths along the walls where we chose to sit and very friendly staff. The staff and sushi chef were authentic and well versed in the menu as well as how offerings were prepared. The jalapeño tuna was amazing, as was the peppered tuna. The sushi was fresh and the sashimi was nicely done. The rolls were creative and again fresh!! The only reason for the lack of 5 stars was the wine list! That is important to me especially with sushi and the list was very limited. I will say the minimal selection did pair ok so it was fine but at least a few more to choose from please!! For the price and service this is a hidden gem and a great neighborhood find!! read more

If you want sushi, go find a Sams club to getter better sushi. I have had better sushi at gas stations and at Sam's Club. I really wanted to like this place. Tonight was my second visit. First time was about a month ago. One of the things that I really liked about it was that it is very close to my house. Another thing is that, during my first visit, the food was good and the service was extraordinarily friendly. The young lady who served us was very friendly and attentive and cared about good service. All those things are things that I truly appreciate in a server. Tonight was a bit of a different story. I ordered sushi in three separate rolls on a visit by myself. It left with me paying greater than $30 for sushi, most of which was substandard In my opinion. Most contentious of which, involved in a conversation between me, the manager, and one of the servers. There was a strong, correction extremely strong wasabi flavor in the roll. I'm personally not a huge fan of wasabi, but I can tolerate it if it's not ridiculous and overpowering. In this case, it was extraordinarily overpowering and it seemed to me as if they were trying to add a lot of flavor to the dish with little effort. Mission accomplished. When I expressed my displeasure, the server merely apologized. I also expressed this to the manager. Neither of them offered to do anything about the item on the bill. To top it all off, when I tried to explain to the server what was truly wrong, she made it more of a point to point out to me that the item was listed on the menu as wasabi mayo rather than to value my opinion and preferences. Not a smart move there young lady. Ok, no problems. Take my $6 don't offer to do the right thing and reverse the charge. You win. Guess what. I have the power of choice. No need to get 3rd rate sushi from a Restautsnt just because it is convenient. You have earned your last dollar from me because of the way that you treated me. I don't do businesses with businesses that don't stand behind their product. Learn to listen to your customers. You lost me for life. Should've known. They're Chinese, not Japanese. Shame on me for giving it a chance. Don't waste your money on this place. Or do... Just my opinion for what it's worth. Hope this helps. read more

Unfortunately I will never return. I have been a loyal customer until today. Myself and my family were the ONLY patrons in the restaurant and were greeted with " SIT THERE" and it just got worse from there. Whoever this waitress is needs to be fired! Just horrible. Even after I asked her politely why was she so rude, she actually became confrontational. Needless to say we left and took our family to another restaurant and had a delightful dinner. We recently relocated to a neighborhood just up the street from this restaurant and were delighted to discover that it is such a gem! We started off with hot sake, Sapporo, served as expected and were offered fresh glasses when we ordered the next Sapporo. The Sushi Dinner was beautifully plated, tasted fresh and plentiful proportions of fish. We ordered the Fried Jalapeños appetizer and were pleasantly surprised to receive large, tempura fried crabmeat stuffed jalapeño halves. Highly recommend! The Crabmeat Naruto roll was tasty, though I have had it served with a white sauce at other places, but this was still very good. We also had the Salmon Roe with no rice and generous portions were served in little cucumber cups. Our final savory dish was the Volcano Roll, which was overflowing with spicy tuna and crabmeat. We were full, but couldn't resist ordering the Tempura Fried Cheesecake dessert. So glad we did! We would repeat that entire meal, but we're excited to try the rest of the menu as well. I honestly used to love green tea, and I still do, but I haven't been going as much because of the service. No one is rude or anything, it's just that the last time I was there, I was sitting with my soup for about 25 minutes after I finished it and there was absolutely no one around to ask if I could order. I saw a few of the waitresses behind the desk all talking, not really serving anyone. Their food is great, prices; reasonable, but their service has just gone a little too downhill for me to want to go back. The Lipstick roll their, amazing, wonderful, I will stand by that roll until I die. I just don't like to go somewhere to eat, and have to wait to eat because no one feels like taking my order, or when I'm obviously finished and can't leave because no one will be around for me to ask for the check. This may be picky, but I probably would've given green tea 5 starts a few months ago, it used to be my absolute favorite place to eat, but ever time I go, it doesn't really make me want to go back. This is just my experience but I never go anymore if I have something to do later because I never know how long I'll be there. read more
