I ordered the crispy crab roll at the table and placed another order to take home. It's that good!

Service was seriously lacking. Empty glasses, nobody to ask for napkins or a box, and I thought we were never going to get our check. The family was waiting in the car while I waited and waited for the check. The food was below average. I recommend going somewhere else, or just cook at home. It'll be better. read more

LOVEEEEEEEE THIS PLACE!! Whether you want a sit down hibachi show or just a quick place to stop by and eat this place is amazing!! The hibachi is so good and I always have leftovers for the next day! Whenever I am not coming for the hibachi, I am coming for the wonderful sushi! I also have tried the Erica bowl and it was great! You can substitute anything out for something else! We had the hibachi experience at Haiku this evening and all in all, the experience was good. Although it was Tuesday night, there was a crowd in this somewhat small strip mall location and I got the feeling that the staff was a little overwhelmed. We got started a little later than our reservation time, having to wait for the staff to prepare. Our hibachi chef Harry, however, was skillful and personable, the high point of our evening. We followed with a variety of sushi rolls and although price points were a little high, all were good and attractively presented. Although I have had better Japanese hibachi and sushi, I am surprised in some of the very low scores Haiku has received. Our party of six enjoyed itself and the crowded dining room would suggest that something good is going on here. We will return and try again. read more

Always a great time. been coming here for years. The yum yum sauce taste good on anything especially the fried rice and noodles.

Nigiri Sushi: 7/10 Sushi Roll: 6/10 Service: 7/10 Ambiance: 7/10 Overall: 7/10 Nigiri sushi is fine, sashimi tastes fresh, fish seems okay on quality and freshness. However the tuna in tuna roll seems a little bit darker color compared to the tuna sashimi or Nigiri. Also, the rice in sushi roll is way too hard like chewing rock. Service is good, my kid had a nice time. read more

If you want all Your food to taste the same, then try this place. The hibachi grill was kinda funny with the entertainment but, when the food was made it tasted the same the rice, noddles chicken all tasted the same. To much soy sauce. Which made it all taste salty. The rice had crunchy pieces in it like maybe the it wasn't so fresh. Would I eat here again? No. For those of you who think this is good food, you don't know good food . Haven't tried the sushi rolls, but since I won't be back. I guess I'll never know how those are. read more

Terrible lunch on a Thursday. We ordered the lunch chicken entree (hibachi) from our table instead of the kitchen chicken entree. Well my fiancé got the kitchen entree anyway. It was cold. The fried rice was white rice with soy sauce on it; no egg, no onion, nothing. Our waitress spent more time seated and looking at her phone instead of taking our order, refreshing drinks or checking the satisfaction of our meal. The check out ticket came to our table before we were even halfway done eating our meal so we couldn't even order more drinks or anything else. We won't be back. read more

This place used to be good. Lunch special used to be the best. Now... holy mayo! The past couple of times I went, anything with snow crab had soooo much mayo that I had trouble eating the rolls. Cucumber was also old and soggy. Overall read more

I cannot imagine this place getting a poor review other than for the waiters service (not sushi bar...the sushi chefs are amazing). This is by far, hands down the best sushi place in the city. We dont eat the Hibachi so I cannot comment. They always have unusual things to choose from on the specials board. We love monkfish liver it is great here. The portions are sizable, fresh, and not overwhelmed with sugary sauces or useless crunchies. I have eaten sushi all over the world, NYC, California and Japan. You cant fool me. If you dont like this place you are a novice. read more

I have ordered take out from here twice. Gave them a second chance tonight, but both times i've just felt like they've missed the mark. Mostly due to quality and freshness, the tuna in the sushi is always brown and fishy in a bad way. The rolls easily fall apart. I will say my fiancé enjoyed his shrimp fried rice as they put more shrimp than most places he's ordered from. There are just so many better and more fresh options on the north shore. The service has always been great though! read more

Small but perfect size Japanese restaurant. Very nice atmosphere. The decor was attractive and modern. Our service was super prompt. There was constantly people walking around taking plates, asking us if we were okay, etc. To some this may be somewhat of a annoyance but we were not bothered. We had the pepper tuna sushi and the New Orleans roll. It was very good but I think my company was better... I definitely recommend trying out this place out. read more

My other friend ordered the Shrimp Teriyaki and It looked delicious. He really enjoyed his food and It was served on a fun plate! I ordered the chicken hibachi lunch and It was only $13 but It was so much food. The environment was super cute and colorful!! We definitely will be back. read more

Service is not so great. They gave us our menus then never came back to take our order. Kept trying to catch their eye with no results, so I ended up yelling 'excuse me' across the restaurant. The sushi tasted good, but their portions are pretty small for the price they charge. I'll let you know if you're used to getting the Volcano roll at places like Yujin, this is nothing like that. It's a super sad small mound of fake crab on top of lettuce for some reason and a roll around it; and it's $15! I don't think I'll come back here.... read more

First time ordering from Haiku and we are pleased. The rolls were on point. Smoked salmon and yellowtail sushi were fresh and of a generous size, very good! Seaweed salad was crisp and nicely seasoned. Chicken fried rice had nice chunks of breast and was seasoned and cooked to perfection. We will be repeat customers! read more

Service wasn't great, food wasn't great....but the real reason I'm writing a review is because a ROACH crawled across our table as we were sitting down waiting for our hibachi chef. We killed it ourselves with a napkin, and we will never be going back. read more

The star is for the sushi, but that's really all I can say that's positive. There was a wait, service was incompetent and generally absent, and the entire place smells strongly of Windex because that's what they are using to clean the tables. (Which doesn't even make sense, it's definitely not food safe, and it's just weird to be eating food while your nose is filled with the distinctive aroma of a squeaky-clean window) Our waitress took our order, disappeared, and never brought our edamame appetizer. We had to ask a total of 3 different people about it, then when our entrees came (after at least 25 minutes), we decided to cancel it, which caused a ridiculous amount of confusion. Our actual waitress was MIA for this entire thing, and didn't resurface until the end of the meal. Like I said, the sushi was actually good. However, my sister is pregnant and can't eat anything raw, so she played it safe and ordered teriyaki chicken. It's also a hibachi place, so how could they screw that up? I think you know the answer. It tasted like straight up dirty dishwater. We had already waited SO long and our waitress was nowhere to be seen, so she ate what she could even though it was not appetizing. We had to go to TCBY after to get the taste out of our mouths. There are plenty of sushi options in Mandeville/Covington. Haiku is going to have to do better than this to compete. It sucks that we had to pay for such a sad meal. The service leaves a lot to be desired and STOP WITH THE WINDEX. read more

Good Sushi. Restaurant has a beautiful decor. Appetizer: Snow Crab Salad is a classic favorite. We have also been getting the Erika Bowl or the Peppered Tuna Salad. Both are a perfect portion for lunch! Sushi: Our favs are the Rock N Roll and the Utah Roll. The tuna inside is always fresh and good flavor. Hibachi: Hard to go wrong with Hibachi chicken, fried rice and vegetables! Staff: Our Hibachi cook was aggressive and hit my eye when baseball pitching a shrimp in my face after being told repeatedly I did not want him to throw it. read more

I've been a huge sushi fan for 30 years. I can testify that Haiku is grocery store grade, hyper Americanized sushi. The fish is a few days old, and the texture of their rice is not optimal. I'm sure to an unrefined pallet they might find this place acceptable. The waitress here is a bit bitter. The seating is extremely uncomfortable. I have yet to try them for hibatchi. read more

My family and I were here last night 1/22/2023. If I could leave 0 stars I would... We sat down, got drinks and soup. Ordered our food and a sushi roll.. Our chef came and started cooking. We got our sushi roll and right as my sister was going to take a bite. She noticed a bug crawling on the counter in front of us... My brother got up, killed it and realized it was a cockroach. Then we all noticed there was a crack in the marble where the grill was (where are food was currently being prepared). We looked in the crack to find that there was at LEAST a dozen baby cockroaches and they were now crawling out onto the counter. My brother notified our server, she spoke with the manager and their solution was to roll up a napkin and shove it in the crack... We got up and left. Everyone else sat at that grill also got up and left. Absolutely disgusted. read more

Love this place usually but tonight was not good. I'm not sure if the Hibachi guy was new or in a hurry. He had grease and food at the corner near me and grease popped me in the eye. He literally and sloppily gave us our food on our plates. It was dropping everywhere. The rice was way undercooked and the noodles were overcooked. The service was super slow from the wait staff and they were stressed and rude. I'm not sure what was going on. It looked like they were not understaffed. The check was over $100 for 3 dinners and it wasn't good. Super disappointed in my fav Hibachi place. I'm giving three stars bc they have been so great in the past. I hope it gets reverts back to how it was before. read more

So, reservations on New Years Eve is always unpredictable but sitting at a hot hibachi grill for an hour is ridiculous, especially when families that came in after us just happened to have a grill assigned nowhere the chef isn't stuck on the sake. The other people I came with are back at the hot table with people eating around them, just not the one grill... read more

Haiku - That big empty spot should have a hibachi shed at 7:30. It's 8:48. - Sushi Bars Near Me - Covington, Louisiana

The decor is nice and everyone we encountered was friendly. I ordered salmon roe nigiri and they actually had it in stock (which I've had trouble with when ordering in Covington). The nigiri was brought immediately so the seaweed was still crispy when I received it. Major points for that! The rolls were good sized as well. Why four stars? They were super skimpy with the unagi/eel. We ordered a Caterpillar Roll.. and all over the top was avocado with no eel to be seen; I found a tiny sliver inside the crabmeat. That's just ridiculous to me. They are not the only place up here in Covington that does this either. You'd think eel was a precious and rare commodity. read more

What can I say. It was food. Sadly I splurged and got the steak hibachi because this place was recommended to me by a friend (who has obviously never had good Japanese hibachi to know that this place sucks.) I'm sad that I spent over $30 of my hard earned USD on this mall takeout quality food. The rice was bland and had no flavor at all. To be fair, the steak was the only relatively *decent* thing about the meal and it still was absolutely nothing to write home about. I ate it is the best that I can say about it. I don't even remember the rest of the meal components if that tells you how unsatisfied it left me. Not pleased at all. My boyfriend tried some and he, too, made fun of me for spending money at this place. I would've been happier ordering Chinese takeout compared to this quality of slop. I'll never be eating here again! read more

I was ordering lunch here biweekly. I thought it was ok. Same old hibachi, but the sushi was always warm. Called two weeks ago and they said no more TO GO lunches. So, that was fine. I ordered from Kim's. They are SO MUCH better!!!! The meat there is 10x better and the sushi is actually cold. I was actually going to bite the bullet and try again today and order from Haiku because I was in a rush. I asked about the lunch TO GO. They hung up on me. No order...nothing. The worst experience ever ! Me and my family wanted to have dinner here and asked to sit on the hibachi side . As soon as the lady sat us down I asked her if it was okay to just move one seat away from the other family that was already there so we wont be so closed too each other , she literally threw two chairs too the side roughly and gave us an attitude . Me and my family got up to leave because she was so rude . After seeing us get up she changed her tone and acted confused like my family and kids didn't hear and see her . So disrespectful !! read more
