I can start this review with one word: Meats! I buy all of my meats from this store. Without fail they always have a great selection! The meat department here is definitely one I'd recommend. I've yet to be disappointed. The people running and working in this department keep the items fresh and the coolers full. The store also carries a good selection of wines and cheeses. Not as good of a liquor selection. Its limited. The bakery and its selection could be better, but all in all is not too bad. I will say that the bakery here carries much fresher items than the store in Hammond. And this is from several of my experiences. The deli is okay on selection, but not always the friendliest. I love sushi from Rouses. It is always my go to since I don't eat fast food. Their sushi is made fresh in store. Very reasonably priced too. This Crazy Spicy Cajun Roll is one of the most flavorful rolls I have tried (and trust me I have tried plenty). For only $10 too so you know it had my cheap heart and stomach going wild! Also pictured is the 1. Chef Sampler with fresh tuna and salmon for a healthier option. It's the perfect quick, fresh, and cheap lunch option to keep your day going! A friend of mine and myself visited the Ponchatoula store today. We had to show our driver's licenses because we each purchased alcohol. The cashier, Julie, looks at our licenses and says " Oh you are so old." This woman was 20 years our senior and she is calling us old! I had errands to run before the end of business so I returned to the store to speak with a manager. A lady who works the liquor counter and possibly a supervisor over the cashiers approaches me and asked me what the issue is. I told her what Julie did and she DEFENDS JULIE by saying, " Well, I guess she thought you were younger than you are." At this point, I am APPALLED and ANGRY! I demanded to speak with a manager. I spoke with Joseph, the store manager, who was apologetic and said he would deal with both employees. I hope so!!! RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL EMPLOYEES AT THE PONCHATOULA STORE!! Made a quick stop to pick up just a few items. They had everything and found it easily. They only had one cashier open but they saw a line building and immediately opened up two more. They are reasonably priced, clean and very helpful. I go about once a week and recommend them to friends and family. read more

Ordered a pound of deli meat. After the lady cut a 2" hunk of meat off and proceeded to throw it on the paper she then sliced it thin to well over a pound, like a total of 1.35 pounds, causing my order to go from 7.99 to 13.35. This was after she scuffled around for 20 min looking for meat that was right in front of her face. Her excuse was she had been there since 6 am. Well guess what? We all have jobs and we should do it well enough to make your customers happy. But from what I understand the managers at this store encourage overage so the customer has to spend more money. That's a f'd up way to treat your customers. No. I will never step foot in another Rouses. Prices are high and the employees don't give two shits about the customers, course we all know they don't care about their employees either. That's why the one in Ponchatoula is having employees walk out every day lately. read more

The staff is always friendly here each and every time. This store is cool and there are plenty options to choose from. I've found a few brands in here that other grocery stores don't normally carry. Their store brand goods look just as good as the better known brands. The produce is beautiful and has a decent array to choose from. I enjoy coming to this location. read more

Just bought my 1st king cake from here.. Cherry cream cheese. Absolutely delicious!! The cherry filling and cream cheese is blended together, not separate. Wow.. Very unusual, but makes for better flavoring. So many different flavors to choose from... And sizes of them. Definitely priced right and will be back! read more

I think Rouse's offers a selection of produce, bakery items, and some meat products that are difficult to find elsewhere on the Coast. I also think they are quite proud of their selection, and the price is reflected accordingly. The Diamondhead store is the one I frequent most often. It is difficult to get in and out of the location because of Diamondhead traffic issues. The store itself is difficult to maneuver with narrow aisles. The produce/deli section is extremely tight to navigate. The seafood selection is not the freshest to be found, so I often travel to Claiborne Hill in Waveland for seafood. I will still patronize Rouse's, because, again, they offer items I can't find anywhere else. I do try, however, to limit to my list to the items I can only find there because of their prices. read more
