I like pickles this was on a whole other level - that little sample had a lot of flavor! I tried the samples of garlic dill and lime serrano and they were both good, but at $10 a jar I could really only get one (I chose the garlic dill). When I opened it I was pleasantly surprised to see how tightly packed that jar of pickle spears was - expensive, yes, but at least I wasn't paying for a jar of mostly brine! They're wonderful and will probably be one of my go-to little treats when I want to splurge on something nice.

Being a little grumpy, I went shopping to brighten my mood -- FAIL (save for a couple sweet deals…read moreat Victoria's Secret). I walked to my car in frustration and just as I stepped up next to it, FAIL, gum...the bottom of my heels now covered in bubble gum. Grrrrr, I mean I literally grrrrred outloud. Despite my efforts to mitigate the damage, bubble gum got all over my pedals, thus making it a little more difficult for me to drive. So my grumpiness increased. But while driving home I noticed this little snow-cone trailer. It called out to me -- this is what I needed to brighten my day (either that or it was my stomach growling at me since I had yet to eat breakfast or lunch by this time). They had a very decent variety of flavors and were super generous on allowing me to sample some. Creamy Wedding Cake was my choice -- wow, it was super sweet, but tasted just like a truly upscale cake. There was some type of "cream" layered on top of the snow-cone, which tasted similar to whipped cream. The ice texture may be a little too hard/crunchy for some, but for me it was perfect. Thanks to its hardness, it survived the ride back to my apartment without melting. SUCCESS! After my $1.25, wedding cake, snow cone, my spunk had returned. I barely even noticed that some dirt, leaves, and sticks had attached themselves to the gum on the bottom of my shoe. I savored every last bite, and props to them for providing me with a cute, pink bendy straw :) I will be back soon -- to try out their red velvet cake flavor...mmmm

(It's like a personal rule from Memorial Day-Labor Day.) And I've been pretty loyal to Sno Beach, but I'm not OCD--I can switch sno cone stands once in a while, especially to avoid a line on a hot day. Sno Springs has shaved ice quality and syrup variety on par with Sno Beach and Casey's Sno Balls (but the syrup portion is a lot more reasonable here than at Casey's). The menu offers all the standbys like Tiger Blood, Lime, Pina Colada, etc, but also includes some I haven't seen elsewhere. Some unique flavor options I can recall are red velvet cake, cherimoya, champagne, and tiramisu. The friendly employees were happy to provide samples and to describe the flavors, and since there was no line, I went ahead and took advantage of that. After eating practically the equivalent of a small sno cone in samples, I settled on 1/2 cherimoya, which tasted a lot like custard, and 1/2 berry, which tasted like berries. The sound flavor combo and the finely shaved ice made for an enjoyable treat; however, the use of a funnel make the top "cone" portion created some structural instability and packed the ice a bit too much on top. If a friend wanted to go here, I wouldn't deter him. And if Sno Beach had a ridiculous line, I would go here. But it's not my favorite.

I learned a lot more than I thought and I really liked how all the different pairings stimulated different parts of my brain. I know that sounds strange but certain things didn't taste like I expected or tasted completely differently when eaten with the items they were paired with. It was so cool. The service was excellent. The presenters were so passionate and it really came through. High energy and enthusiasm and so much knowledge about all the ingredients not just in the cheese but in the items they were paired with. Completely impressed! The ambiance was great. Small enough to feel intimate but big enough that you could feel the energy in the room. Would love to come back! I love how they support local and ethical businesses.

We started out the day with a cheese tasting & rose on the way out to the dairy. The bus was very comfortable and the team was so lively on the bus ensuring we had a great time. They shared so much about cheese that we didn't know and the pairings were great. We the arrived at Pure Luck Dairy and the little baby goats were to die for! Amelia & Hope were so kind and gave us a tour of their land and their daily process. We got to visit with the goats and do a tasting of their cheeses with some delicious pairings and I understand why they've won so many awards! I could eat a whole tub of those cheeses no crackers needed haha. We returned back to Antonelli's tasting room to end with raclette & some pairings and just debrief about the whole day and it was wonderful. The team really did think of everything, down to providing booties for us at the farm. The rain that day was a non factor, as they said, it was a grand soft day!

They use some kind of a new infra red grilling technology from Germany, paired with an obviously secret dry rub recipe, and the result is a wonderfully moist, tender and flavorful whole grilled chicken. You know how cooked chicken normally dries out quickly, when stored in the fridge for a couple of days. I had this chicken after a week of storage and it was still as moist as a fresh bird. They often sell out in the last market hour, so don't be too late. I'm gushing a bit here, but I swear to God that I have no vested interest in this business. The owner is German, like myself, and we chat it up every once-in-a-while, but that's it! The quality of this chicken is so overwhelmingly great that I'm sharing this info with everyone I meet. I was not expecting the spicy and smokiness of this bar, but I loved it! The espresso flavor goes wonderful with the spiciness. I ordered online and picked up at their shop in Austin on Old Manchacha road. It was quick and easy pick up, just a bit South. 100% recommend these for gifts and to treat yo self!
