I used to love this place. Was a must stop after skiing Crystal Mountain or visiting Sunrise on Mount Rainier. Stopped in today, Memorial Day, after skiing. Place was hopping, lots of cars and people. Stood at bar for about 10 minutes while two bartenders avoided eye contact, waited on no one, then walked away without serving us. Maybe they were depositing money in the back but not sure why it took two and they would not even excuse themselves. OK, there was a server outside, we will order from her, we get her attention, she nods and walks away. OK, I do not need a beer and a snack this bad, so we leave. As the door is closong from someone coming in, I push it open and the wood was so bad, I got a 1/2 inch splinter in my finger from touching the damn door. Theis place has gone to shit! read more

I can vouch that the Naches Tavern will treat you like family - if you do the same. We had a great time here and I think it offers something for everyone. Locals hanging out, tourists popping in for a shot of tequila then running out the door, hikers enjoying post-play fuel and brews, families on the patio, and more. And not in an annoying way that tries to cater to every possible whim. It just is what it is and the Rainier area is lucky to have it. What more could you want than a great burger & salad (split nicely for us without even asking) and a cold, crisp beer....and some friendly stranger playing Ween's Piss Up A Rope on the jukebox to get the room going? Had lunch today at the Naches Bar & Grill in Greenwater. Greenwater is a town of less than 100 people along highway 410 and about 20 miles from the nearest town. The Naches relies a lot on people driving along highway 410 and also a lot of the people skiing at Crystal Mountain. My point in mentioning this is that it is very difficult predict when they will have a lot of customers and when they won't. Read some of the reviews prior to my visit and from the number of negative reviews I wondered if it was worth the visit. Got there about 2:00 and we were the only ones there. The bartender, Elizabeth was wonderful. Got us our drinks and let us take our time to order food. The atmosphere was so laid back and wonderful. Food was great and even though it is 50 miles from where I live I will try to return whenever I can. Ride my motorcycle past there on one of my favorite rides around Mt. Rainier. Will not drive past without stopping! read more

Waited patiently for table to open- then a table opens up- patron pays his tip- and the waiter says - hold on a sec- gotta clean the table. we wait patiently again- this time at a smaller table next to the one being cleaned. another party barges in and takes our table then another table claims the table we are waiting by. during all of this i ask the waiter to please bring out some food- i say- any meat dish is fine- he says the menu i have is the wrong menu. enough was enough we got the fuk out of there- and won't be coming bak any time soon. please get your act together. the one person i did see eating was eating what looked like the world's saddest plate of chips with microwaved american cheese on it- but i pray that it was just a mirage. read more

This place used to be so great. It was a nice little bar with dollar bills and eclectic local items on the wall. The drinks were strong, the staff was fun, and the prices were low. I don't know what happened, but none of those things apply anymore except the eclectic items around. The bartender didn't know basic drinks, the food was awful, and the atmosphere in general was just "blah" and the prices were outrageous. My cousin and I stopped here after some hiking. We were getting hangry! There isn't much around, and this place looked "homey." The food was pretty good. It was kind of expensive, but I think the cost of living in this area is just high in general. I had the PBLT (pork belly sandwich) with tater tots. The tots were great, sandwich was decent. My cousin had a salad. She liked it. The decor in here is adorable. They also had a jukebox and were ironically playing a musician from back home in Kentucky. The people were friendly. We chatted with a few locals while we ate and they gave us some hiking suggestions. Our waitress was friendly and efficient. They have some different craft beers here and the staff is knowledgeable about them. The atmosphere is great. Doors open with cool, mountain air blowing in. It took us well over an hour to get our food, our iced tea and beers were never, not once, refilled, and the food is simply okay. It's not dog friendly, even outside on the expansive patio, and that makes it difficult when it's sunny or hot outside. It's looked like such a cool spot, and that's why we stopped. A couple of the servers were nice to their tables, but others (ours) didn't seem to care about us being there at all. And she got both of our orders wrong. It's too bad because it could've been such an awesome spot that we would come to more often. We drove through the rain for a family dinner at Naches. We had to sit separately because of the lack of big or movable tables. Our booths we're comfy though. I got the Cobb salad, and boyfriend got a chili burger. The salad was decent. I liked that it had avocado. I didn't think it was quite worth the $12 or $13 they were charging for it, however. The chili burger was drowned in chili and impossible to eat without a knife and fork. There was a patty on either side of the the bun, but they were thin and well done (we noticed our waiter didn't ask how we wanted them done.) The general consensus was that the burgers (and the service) was just alright. Decent, but not outstanding. We did enjoy our Moose Drool beer, however. This tavern seems to cater to a local crowd, but we did feel at home. I did also love the chalk to write on the bathroom wall! read more

We were on our way back to Seattle from a weekend of camping and were hungry so we decided to stop here. Lots of bikers parked out front and seemed like a local divey hang out. We went in and there was a bar out front and a dining area in the back. They had a decent selection of food and the food wasn't bad either considering we didn't know what to expect. I ordered the fish and chips and I think my boyfriend ordered a chicken sandwich. Would stop by again if we go camping in that area. read more

I really want to like this place, I really do. I love the outdoor seating but this is the second time in a year I have gotten super super sick from there. Last year we ordered hot wings and when we bit into them they were super raw and pink, and three out of five of us got super sick. Didn't go there for a while. Went there today got an order of nachos with ground beef. The meat tasted rank! She did take it back and made us plain nachos but seriously $75 for onion rings a basket of chips fries and a couple of beers & drinks and an order of nachos you would think something would at least taste good!! They should've comped us the nachos at least. Nothing was that great. Now here I sit totally sick again as well as my husband. Next time we will grab a sandwich in Enumclaw and only do drinks there. read more

I got the cheeseburger and my girlfriend got the fish and chips, they were both excellent, and the portions were big enough to fill you up without having a bunch of leftovers. This was probably the worst food experience I've ever had. I enjoy bar food and I was in the mood for some deep fried anything. The deep fried pickles were absolutely flavorless, I didn't know that it was possible to remove flavor from a pickle but it seems like they figured out how to do it. The "fish and chips" were basically frozen fish sticks from a box with cold, limp fries. I would absolutely overlook the poor quality of food and just judge it for what it is (bar food), but they are charging a ridiculous $13.50 for this so called fish and chips meal. You can get halibut and chips here in Seattle for that price! Our group ordered the fish and chips, nachos, and 2 sides and it took 45 minutes for our food to be delivered. We were starving after our hike. Such a huge disappointment. read more

Had the 1/4lb tavern burger with blue cheese and grilled onions. My friend had the chicken burger. Both were amazing and a full meal. Friendly service and they were fairly fast at serving/ preparing food. The only 2 reasons they didn't get a 5 was because the French fries were not crisp and were obviously the frozen costco kind, and the napkin thickness was definitely lacking. We should have just driven to Enumclaw. We were staying nearby for our son's ski competition at Crystal Mountain and thought it would be nice to do a local dinner; support the local economy, but it was a bad idea. 1. It took 50min or more to get our food. 2. The waitress seemed nice, until we finally asked if the food would be coming soon. We were shocked when she responded with an extreme lack of empathy and became defensive saying that it was not her fault. 3. The food was edible, but very salty. And don't order the poutine, because it's not poutine, but rather french fries with liquidy cheese on top. The side of honey mustard looked more like a petri dish, scary. 4. Stopped for dinner and beers tonight and got the impression that this place operates as if it knows there's no competition. The food is SOOOO overpriced (like insane) and the service is comical. If anything went wrong, the waitress/bartender was not ever surprised or apologetic; she just acted as if that's the standard. All the food was almost cold except the tater tots they started giving us because they ran out of fries. The other table stormed out shortly after he was rude to them. My fish was undercooked, my friend's beer wasn't what he ordered and the waiter never returned with the correct beer. Even after my friend went indoors and asked for his beer, the waiter didn't bring it for a good 20 minutes after we finished eating. We asked him to please bring the check, he said he would, but later came out and told us we needed to come inside to get it. He was preoccupied with his four buddies at the bar and acted like we were an imposition. There was no other restaurant within 20 miles, so we stuck it out, but never again. My husband and I both had hamburgers and added a basket of fries. Food came quickly and was good. Menu seemed to have a good selection on sandwiches. Seating included space at the bar and booths, also looked like there was seating outside but since it was raining while we there we didn't check it out.
