Let's be honest, we came for the view, which didn't disappoint. We had an appetizer out on the patio and then moved into the restaurant for lunch. Service started off nice but quickly turned non existent. Food was okay, edible but nothing memorable. Total was $130 for one appetizer, two cocktails, two lunch entrees and two fountain drinks. We definitely would not add to places we would have to return to but the views made it better.
Summit House Restaurant is a great stop after a few runs at Crystal Mountain Resort. Being able to sit down for a proper warm meal after skiing, especially when it's cold outside, is such a nice break from the slopes. We ordered the coconut curry with chicken, braised beef short rib, smoked salmon chowder, and Brussels sprouts, and everything tasted great. Our favorite was definitely the short rib, it's tender and flavorful. We also got hot tea, and appreciated the unlimited water refills, which was a nice touch in the cold. The views are absolutely amazing, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. The only reason for 4 stars is that it's definitely on the pricier side for what you get, but considering the location at the top of the mountain and the experience overall, it's still worth it.
This is at the top of Crystal Mountain next to the Gondola. Pricey drinks $9 for a 16 oz Rainier and $11.50 for a can of Truly. Views are great though
This is the restaurant accessible at the top of the Crystal Mountain Resort gondola. Restroom facilities on the lower level and the restaurant includes a large indoor dining room as well as a sort of beer garden patio. We had a short wait as it was peak lunch hour and they needed time to clean and bus tables. We were lucky to be set up by one of the windows and had a fantastic view of Mt Rainier. It was chilly up at that elevation and the indoor restaurant only provided some relief as the heat was not super strong. Service was friendly, albeit because they were really busy, it did take awhile to get the orders in and for the food to come out. Food quality was just ok. I had the salmon fish and chips which included two reasonable sized salmon on a bed of fries. The fries were thick cut, not well salted and had noticably cooled down by the time it was served to us. In contrast, the fried salmon had a bit too much pepper, however the salmon itself was moist and tasted great with the tartar sauce.
I was utterly disappointed. The waitresses were rather good. My waitress stated how great the curry salmon tasted. She had me at curry and definitely reeled me in when she said, "Salmon." You'd think the curry salmon would have a curry taste. Nope. My wife didn't care for her fish either. The view is spectacular.
We arrived via the Mt Rainier gondola. This "restaurant in the clouds" is worth the hype. The views of Mt Rainier are spectacular. There's outdoor patio seating and indoor seating. It was very cold when we visited in August, so we opted for indoor. The place gave me elevated ski lodge vibes. Our waitress was super friendly and gave us tips on what else we could do after lunch. The food here is excellent. The salmon chowder was a standout, and the best we had during our whole trip. The Coconut Curry entree was very flavorful with lots of fresh veggies. We also added baked salmon, which was nicely charred outside and moist inside. The classic burger was also very good. I highly recommend treating yourself to the good food and awesome views at Summit House. It was one of the highlights of our trip.
I liked this place. It is expensive to get up there on the gondola, but it's also really fun. We went on a long hike that morning and it was a fun treat to have lunch on top of a mountain after. My husband got a burger and it looked awesome. There's a little toasty scorch mark logo on the bun and that makes it better for some reason. I got a chicken salad sandwich and the waitress wanted me it was hot, because most people (including me) aren't expecting that, but it was also just kinda weird. Not bad, but more like dry chicken chili than what I thought it would be. The mint vinaigrette dressing on my salad was awesome. The views are of course breathtaking and the first two rows of tables near the window have a decent vantage point I wore my jacket the whole time and I was still a little chilly on a mid 70s day in july - maybe it was just because we're near the door, but I'd recommend bringing warm clothes
It was not worth the $ spent. The truffle fries (meh) the "Burger" was the size of a hockey puck and just as hard. The soda, was fountain drink water at best. 3 stars for view view only and my ability to rescue a bumble bee from the swatting staff. Speaking of staff, she seemed more pde occupied with her time card than coming to take our order. Our table for two was the least of her worries in the establishment that only had one other table of 4.
Sadly, we have had better truffle fries in Yosemite. The salmon fish and chips needed salt and tarter sauce (I never eat good salmon with tarter sauce). My wife's burger was dry and every now and then she would taste nothing but salt. My daughter's chicken strips looked like they were actually made of real chicken. The truffle fries were dry. The staff was super nice though. The bacon bloody Mary was the best part of the meal. But the view was incredible
It's definitely a solid 3 stars as the average states. Skip the poutine and skip everything else. Bank on the $21 cheeseburger. The other "fancier" burgers were dry and tasteless. At least the cheeseburger came packed with a good chunk of lettuce tomato and pickles. Good portion of fries. You can also choose side salad as an option. We were bummed they didn't serve pike place chowder like I saw in other reviews/previous menu. It said pike place chowder for $16 and we were all looking forward to it. We also had absolutely zero view. It was foggy that day. We came on a Saturday, got seated at 11 and within 20 minutes all the tables were full. It was somewhat pricey but what do you expect for the highest elevation restaurant in Washington? Overall, nor terribly bad, not super great. It was just mid...
We weren't able to make an reservation therefore we walked in around 1030 and waited for a table for 5. We got lucky since there was a note that they no longer were taking wait list. The summit house had an amazing view. We did not end up with a window table But one side was mount Rainier. The other side was all the peaks in the cascades ? The menu was quite diverse.we had burger, sad with tofu, , truffle fries, chicken waffle, and soup. Everything by was decent. Service was quite friendly. Would definitely be back especially if skiing condition was not ideal. Great place to hang out on the mountain.
Food was tasty, and it was great to quickly get some lunch after we hiked the steep trail to get to the top! :) I enjoyed the watermelon salad, but it was a little small, especially for the price. However, it was delicious, and we had a GREAT time resting on the chairs facing Mt. Rainier before we took the gondola down. A couple confusing things I would suggest adjusting: - the menu has a key for dietary restrictions, including a "GF" for gluten-free. However, none of the menu items were actually listed as gluten-free. I assumed the watermelon salad was safe and ordered that, but it would be great if the gluten-free food items were listed as GF. - On my maps app, the restaurant is listed as "temporarily closed," even though it was open. That was a little confusing as we couldn't see the hours.

Food was great! Loved their French fries! Was thick, moist inside and crispy out side. Service was also nice. They are attentive and welcoming. View was amazing! It worth visiting! Atmosphere is good except music. I wish they pick nicer playlist :( it wasn't match resort vibe rather than cheep dark bar :( read more
In the many years I have been coming to Washington (at least once a year and sometimes twice a year), I didn't know this place existed. My bonus daughter planned a day trip to Crystal Mountain and it truly was quite an incredible experience in itself. The Summit House is Washington's highest-elevation restaurant at 6,872 feet. To get there, you ride the scenic gondola up from the resort. The cost for the ride up is $54 for adults, so I suggest taking full advantage of taking in the scenery. Walk around, take pictures, and pause to take in the fresh air. It was a very warm day (I think it was high 70s-80ish), so by the time we did that, we were thirsty and hungry. You have the option to eat on the patio (which is also dog friendly) or inside. We ate inside as it looked like the tables with shade outside were taken. The service was good. Four stars for service. The staff was very friendly and pleasantly interacted with us. We sat at the corner table right when you walk in which was all window so the view was incredible. It's not facing Mt Rainier, but the view is still incredible that high up. Side note: there were flies in that corner that were trying to get out as you can imagine. We had poutine for the table. The fries in the poutine were good, but the gravy and cheese combined were on the salty side. The chicken in the fried chicken sandwich was a bit tough. The classic burger and the elk burger were a bit tough (maybe overcooked?). The strawberry and pear spinach salad was fine. The roasted veggie sandwich was fine. The fries that the dishes came with were overall pretty good. A few of us had huckleberry lemonade that we enjoyed. The reviews average three stars for Summit House and I agree. 2.5 stars for food 4 stars for service 3 stars all around average The view is what we came for and that did not disappoint at all. read more
The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating. The indoor has no view. It may be useful in the winter days. I the outdoors area view is exceptional. You get to see several mountains and views. You need to poetry food at the counter and they will serve you. So it is not full serve. You may need to wait to get seating die to the limited number of tables. The French fries are tasty; a little bit salty. You can get only the fried burger and not the grilled one. It was well done and had several layers of juicy vegetables. It satisfies all aspects of your taste buds. read more

Took my boyfriend here for his birthday, and we had a nice time. The food was good, but honestly, I think most people come here more for the view than the food--and that's definitely true! The view is beautiful and really makes the experience worth it. Overall, a nice place for a special occasion. read more

Lunch at the summit house restaurant today after 3 hours of snowboarding in progressively degrading spring sticky snow :) unfortunately the weather was super foggy, so no mt. Rainier view today. Got a bacon cheeseburger, both the bun and the burger were a bit too charred, but overall it was ok. read more

Pay for the experience while on vacation! I am honestly a little surprise to see the 2.9 rating here and I am glad I did not look before visiting this establishment. After a long hike we needed to get some food in us and if you visit National Parks you know that the options are limited to put it nicely. After taking a nice, scenic ride to the top of Crystal Mountain by Gondola ($54 per adult) you will find a restaurant, bar, gift shop, and an unbeatable view! If it is foggy or rainy please do not go up with high expectations of a view...you will be let down! The restaurant is a decent size for being at the top of a mountain and offers a beautiful patio for drinks or a "simpler" window ordering menu. Inside you'll be greeted by large windows and a log cabin feel. The service was absolutely tremendous, we had a fantastic, very attentive waitress. Our food, as I touched on earlier, was excellent when it comes to National Park standard's! I had grilled chicken and he had a burger. I highly recommend upgrading to the truffle fries! read more
The food Was hot and fresh the shepherds pie was delicious. Recommend the Spinach Salad; sweet cheesy tang for your tongue. Super friendly Audrey pleasant and on point . The view was stunning words cant describe it recommend that you plan your visit on a clear day. read more

First time at Summit House Restaurant, and I'm already planning my next visit! Despite the initial wait, which was expected, the food and view more than made up for it. I opted for the hot honey chicken sandwich which was really good, crispy, hot and sweet. Our sever was also super friendly. Can't wait to return! Like I said the food was awesome but who really cares when the view is that amazing? read more
This restaurant is located at the top of the Gondola. So you have to ride a gondola to be able to eat here. They said it was a Nice view of the Mt. rainier but when we went here, it was foggy and raining a little bit so, no view of Mt. rainier. There are few selections of food, not much actually specially if you are really hungry, not recommending to go here. Their food price is a little bit expensive compared to others maybe because of the view. Not a fan honestly, i just like their clam chowder and thats it. Will not go here next time but its good that we tried. read more
I was quite surprised by the quality of food at the Summit House, considering all of their ingredients and staff have to be carted up a mountain. We stopped in to warm up and grab lunch during our first fully day at Crystal. We were not disappointed in the slightest. I'm currently pregnant and my nose is ridiculously sensitive to bad food, especially fish. Not a single smell set me off, on the contrary, I was sad to leave! I enjoyed a coffee and the signature burger with cheese and slaw, while my husband ordered the salmon and fries! We were both really impressed and satisfied. The portions are generous and the ingredients are fresh. We will definitely be back. read more

After not visiting for 2 years, we finally made it back! Grabbed lunch on Friday, 3/31/23, at 11:50 AM. Got seated right away and it was pretty packed. Ordered a Calamari, a Burger with Fries and Coleslaw. Didn't get to sit near the window, but it was OK since the weather was super windy, cloudy and foggy. Couldn't see the Cascades and Mt. Rainier was hidden anyway... Drinks and food came out in a timely manner. We didn't have to wait long, even though the lunch rush crowd were there, even on a Friday afternoon. The Burger tasted great! Fries were spot on, but Coleslaw was a little sour. The Calamari was alright, but the Tartar sauce was a bit sour amd tasted of too much pickle. Our service was great!! Too bad there was no dessert, though. Seemed like they had removed some items from the menu and prices had increased... read more

Curious about the gondola while boondocking across the road, we decided to drive up the next morning and check it all out. The drive up is winding and pretty, and when we arrived in the parking lot at about 9:30am on Saturday there weren't a lot of people around yet. There's some major construction going on right now, so you've got to follow the signs around the outside to reach the gondola. The gondola...pricey at $44 each but definitely worth it, especially on such a perfectly clear day. We smelled good things coming from the restaurant as soon as we exited, so after wandering and taking in the amazing views we decided to sit down and eat a bite before heading back down. At 11am they were pretty busy, but we managed to score the last window seat. We decided to just split a fish n chips meal, as we weren't really starved yet. The food came out seriously fast, and the service was friendly...although pretty limited, as after we got our food we never saw our server again until we were done and the check showed up. Did I want a refill on my water...yes I did. Was the fish itself worth the $29 price tag...well, no. But, since you're getting to enjoy a good tasting meal on a stunning mountaintop with KILLER views, it all becomes worth it. Doubtful I'd hesitate to pay the prices again in the future...it was definitely a fun experience overall. read more

This place is ok. Our server was super friendly took. Don't come if you are in a hurry it took a while for someone to come get our order but once they did our drinks came quickly food took much longer. We where not in a hurry so we just relaxed. I ordered a hot toddy it was ok I would have liked it a bit hotter as it was warm especially since our food took a while. My husband ordered a warm coffee beverage it's was good. I got the blackened salmon sandwich it was good tender and flaky very flavorful. The husband for the shredded pork with truffle fries he enjoys it. I would definitely never pay 10 for the small plate of fries as they are just ok. It is a bit higher then I would normally pay for these types of meals but it was an experience and the views. read more
Pleasantly surprised by the quality of food at the Summit house despite of being at a remote location! The ambiance is just picture perfect, you get to enjoy food with an amazing view. I should have just ordered a burger but I got the Summer Wedge Salad. The liquid smoke on the shredded chicken made it difficult to savor because it tasted like I was eating gasoline or charcoal flavored chicken. It was not the best tasting or even presentable $18 summer wedge salad. The tomato bisque soup for $15 tasted way better! Opens at 10 am they don't serve breakfast or brunch. Whoever is running this place needs to step it up, no wonder it has 3 stars. They do have an amazing location and great mimosas! read more

Hot soup and a mountain view - that's the way to my heart! Listen, this place isn't fancy and honestly I don't feel like it should be. Spending the day skiing or snowboarding this is a great restaurant to relax and warm up. The food is decent and the service was great. I had a bowl of the tomato bisque - it was hot, thick, full of flavor and had a bit of a kick ! It was absolutely perfect for a cold and windy day. The best part of this place is the AMAZING view! You can dine while having a perfect view (on a clear day) of gorgeous Mt. Rainier. This Georgia girl drove over 2 hours from Seattle just to enjoy lunch and gaze at the beauty of Mother Nature! I'd definitely recommend experiencing this if you're visiting Crystal Mountain! read more

Came here on a Sunday. It was super busy and we had to wait 30 min for a table to open. I got the chili and one friend got calamari and chili as well. The chili was lukewarm and though it had a lot of meat, it wasn't very flavorful. My other friends ordered various sandwiches and soup. Though we got our chili quickly, it took forever for my other friends to get their food. Service is slow and the food is overpriced. The only good thing are the views from the top are amazing on a clear day. I would eat at the base of the mountain instead where you can get fish and chips for $15. read more
