Not an inviting place anymore to visit. The food is absolutely terrible! Have tried the "new" menu 3 times and nothing good to say. Thought it would be hard to screw up nachos but omg they were soggy from being coated in refried beans and the "beer cheese" or whatever it was supposed to be looked disgusting and tasted was sour. Was told to give it a month and the food would get better but it was worse than ever. Really worry-some about a $5 fish sandwich if the nachos can't even be executed properly! To top everything off one of the new owners was sitting at the bar.

PEOPLE OF EARTH: If you haven't experienced the pure chaos that is Boots Tavern, you're living in…read morethe shadow realm of hospitality. This establishment doesn't just serve drinks--they serve EXPERIENCES, specifically soundtracked by an endless loop of Smash Mouth, Avril Lavigne, and *NSYNC that would make Carson Daly weep tears of frosted-tipped joy. The bartenders here don't just pour drinks--they're like spiritual guides through the realm of grain alcohol enlightenment. They've got stuff so potent it could strip paint off a submarine, and they serve it with the kind of confidence usually reserved for bomb disposal experts. Their signature drink, "The Y2K Bug," comes with a mandatory signing of medical release forms and a brief consultation with your next of kin. But let's talk about their commitment to the early 2000s pop music scene. The jukebox exists in a temporal loop where it's perpetually 2003. "All Star" plays every 47 minutes with the precision of an atomic clock. I once witnessed a group of investment bankers completely lose it during "Bye Bye Bye," performing the original choreography with such passion that Justin Timberlake probably felt a disturbance in the force. The weekly karaoke nights are the stuff of local legend. Every Thursday, the entire bar transforms into what I can only describe as "American Idol meets Thunder Dome." Last week, someone performed Britney's "Oops!... I Did It Again" while dressed as a fully-operational vending machine. The crowd went so wild they had to replace three load-bearing walls the next day. The regulars here have developed their own bizarre ecosystem. There's a group that shows up every Tuesday wearing matching bedazzled jumpsuits, and nobody questions it. The staff has started timing their drink service to the exact moment Christina Aguilera hits the high note in "Beautiful." Five stars. Would absolutely risk permanent hearing damage from singing along to "Who Let The Dogs Out" for the 47th time while sipping something that could probably power a jet engine. Just remember to bring your flame-retardant crop top and your signed liability waiver. P.S. The bathroom graffiti is exclusively written in boy band lyrics. It's basically a museum at this point.

Let's start off with the MOCK COCKTAIL the Blueberry Mojito. OMG! It was DELICIOUS!!! It had a lot of flavors. Then came out the Beef Wellingtons. They were shooters. The menu says they typically come out in about 25 minutes. We ordered them anyway. Luckily for us they came out first. They were delicious!!! Nice and hot. The breading was nice and flaky. We will ordering these again! The shrimp cocktail and the salads came out. They were all good. However, my wife noted that her Avocado and Bacon Salad needed more Avocado and Bacon. Last the Garlic Ptarmigan Fries. The garlic level can be considered "Date Level". So, if you are looking for something more garlicky then this is not really for you. Salted Rim Bar and Kitchen was really busy. Especially for a Sunday night. They had a trivia contest going on so it was a little loud. However, with the business of the night they had enough staff to go around. With the staff being plentiful we were not ignored. As for the staff themselves they were all extremely nice and friendly. We will most definitely come back here again!!

The vibe is laid-back and welcoming. Every server we interacted with was smiling and genuinely friendly. It really added to the atmosphere. You can tell the staff enjoys working there, and that kind of energy is infectious. Now, the food: the burger was exactly what I crave when I think of a good, old-fashioned burger. Nothing over-complicated, just juicy, well-seasoned beef, melted cheese, and a toasted bun. It was cooked just right, with that perfect balance of savory and juicy. Simple, but executed beautifully. On the side? Two absolutely gigantic onion rings that were golden, crispy, and sweet. The batter had a light crunch without being greasy, and the onions inside were tender and flavorful. Basically onion ring perfection. The mozzarella sticks were another standout. Hot, gooey, and with a satisfying cheese pull that was honestly Instagram-worthy. Crispy on the outside, melty on the inside. Exactly how they should be. I wouldn't recommend the cocktails. They were trying too hard with a fancy mixology vibe that didn't quite land. But the beer? Cold, refreshing, and just right with the food and the atmosphere. Why go? If you're looking for a relaxed spot to hang out, enjoy a game, and eat some really solid comfort food, this place delivers. It's the kind of place you leave full, happy, and already planning your next visit.

Set in a cute picturesque town over a charming little bridge Whistle Stop Tavern sits in a row of businesses. They are known for their fried chicken & jojos so of course we had to order some of that! We had 7 ladies who had been grazing all day up at the hot springs on charcuterie & various other snacks we packed with us but after an hour long downhill hike in the cold November PNW weather we were ready for some hot food. We also ordered each of their wing flavors. BBQ, Buffalo & Lemon Pepper, plus a large house salad. The fried chicken was very tasty. We could see from the bar that they use a pressure fryer, so it keeps the meat juicy & the exterior crisp. You get a half of chicken cut up in pieces in one order, 1 drum, 1thigh, 1 breast & a wing. It was perfect for sharing. Super casual as it is a tavern with lots of bar & table seating. They also have a pool table(FREE pool Monday nights) & of course big screens for sports watching or MTV videos were actually playing when we were there. Charming spot with a nice bartender & even nicer regulars. A table of locals asked us where we were going to have dessert at & told us about the Pie Dive Bar...they said we MUST give it a try, so WE DID! If you're ever in Skykomish, WA stop by Whistling Post Tavern for some tasty chicken...they have fried seafood too, & drinks.

During our last trip in the area, we decided to go on in for a drink. Dive bar fans, this spot is absolute GOLD. If you're in the area for a hike? Stop in for a post hike beer. In the area just passing through? Literally pull over for a drink or two and a respite from the car. Whatever you're doing in Index, there is no reason not to stop at the Sand Bar. The Sand Bar is nautical themed and so much fun. Themed to the NINES. As an event planner, their dedication does not go unnoticed. There's also so many fun fish tanks around! Kinda makes you feel like a kid again to just watch them swim around while you're relaxing. Would I suggest saving an appetite for this spot? Honestly, no. They have a DIY chili dog bar and rotating specials but all of the food is ready to go in crockpots. That said, if it was midnight and I had a few cold ones, I might just be inclined to make myself a DIY chili dog. I'm just being honest here. I did see in the parking lot that the local pizza spot will deliver here, so that might be a more sanitary option, but what's the fun (and gamble) in that? There's a fun outdoor area with eclectic seating and beautiful mountain views if you're there during the day. No liquor here, but they've got solid beer, wine, cider/seltzer options. The co-owner was working when we came in and he's a super nice guy. We complimented the bar and he insisted we give his wife all the credit as it was her idea and she was "nice enough to let him work there." We informed him we'd be back in the area for our June wedding and were planning on stopping in after we got married and he gave us a business card with their personal cell number to TEXT and let them know how many people from our wedding were gonna come in so they could prep karaoke and stay open a little later. I mean, how sweet is that!?!? Highly suggest supporting this small business whenever passing through Index - we can't wait to come back after our wedding. We're seriously rolling with our wedding party + then some.

It's quite literally on the other side of the mountain from us - just over Chinook pass on the west side. We were looking for a spot to grab some lunch after an early season hike of Naches peak loop, and this place was the one we were looking for! For those "uneducated" about very small towns in central southern Washington, Naches is a one such town. Anytime we see a spot that's named after somewhere near us, we generally try to check it out, so imagine our surprise when we came across this magic little hole in the wall. It's very rustic/mountainy feeling inside and out. From the pool table room with dollar bills stapled to the wall, to the old school bar, and the yard out back with extra seating, this place oozes small town charisma! The menu isn't huge, but it was very good! Burgers, chicken, salads, fish 'n chips and some seriously dope cheese curds are all at your fingertips! The drink selection is solid, trends towards a biker bar (not surprisingly), and had some good non-alcoholic options. The woman who took our order, may have helped make everything, and was quick to get our drinks and food out to us. There was a bit of a crowd and she did nice job of taking care of everyone. As a random aside, you should check out the bathrooms and their decor. It's quite a unique spectacle! On a nice day, there are few places nicer than a spot like this.
