Quick lunch for 1 I stopped in for a quick lunch while in the Atlantic Station area. I walked along the promenade and decided to stop at NanStop. It has been awhile but I have been here before. When I entered, I waited a few minutes while the staff finished helping the customer ahead of me. . I reviewed the wall menu and was ready when it was my turn. I was not in the mood for anything too heavy so I ordered a smashed Samosa. The staff let me know it needed to be reheated in the deep fryer, which took about five minutes. This place is really pretty legit for a quick lunch. I stopped in for a late lunch at 2pm but they were still going strong. The first 2 hours are free if you park in the parking deck. The place was easy to access, being located across from the Publix. We entered the establishment and was greeted by two young ladies. There weren't anyone inside, so there was ample places to sit. We ordered several items to try. Their new featured item was the tenders. They were good, but I would prefer them to be fried a little longer. We also tried their Chaat fries, loaded samosas, the chicken tikka bowl, fresh signature lemonade and teas, and their cookies. Build it yourself style Indian "street food". I did a regular build your own bowl with chicken tikka and paneer tikka. I added the cool and mild chutney and all the topping options. The prices are very inexpensive, and you get a decent amount of food. Everything was super flavorful and delicious! Mediocre Indian food with a twist. This food is very Modernized and isn't as authentic, but it's something quick and easy to get if you're in the area or are craving Indian food. It's basically a "make your own" style, you pick your base (rice, bowl, salad) then you pick your protein (I picked the chicken tikka and gobi cauliflower- they have other options too). The taste is pretty bland, which is good if you're not into spicy food, if you want to spice it up you can add the green chutney/sauce. I also ordered the rose water lemonade after hearing about it, that was delicious, tasted fresh and floral. Service is quick, but the day I went the staff members were running around, maybe they were not used to that much traffic. It took them 20 mins to give me my coconut water i ordered as well because they "forgot." Bad on their part. Not the best coconut water. But besides that, it was decent. I went in the other day for lunch. I keep getting these texts about a special so I finally gave it and went to check it out. The texts are a "special" where your regular size main is $1 IF you also pay full price or a side and a drink. I normally skip sides and drinks to keep the cost down but I thought sure I will try it. I had been to the buckhead place maybe 3 years ago so they have been texting me since almost then. When you walk in the servers are VERY attentive for a basic eatery. I make my choices and pay, and go sit down. I then realize no receipt. Oh well, too late now as they are fluttering all over those in line and no way now. I was mainly curious to see how this all rung up as whenever there is some type of creative pricing I try to make sure I look at the receipt but lost my chance here. There are not that many sides and I ordered the Samosa. That had to be made up I guess so they said they will get that going. The rolled nan was NOT one you could eat with your hands. It was a THIN nan and had big holes in it and I tried to eat with my hands and it all just fell apart. I was done eating and still no Samosa. The couple just in front of me both also totally done and leaving so its not like Im a speed eater. So I wait about 5 more minutes and it FINALLY comes. Total time for 1 Samosa over 20 min. I guess once you pay and your out of sight your out of mind. Everyone is fawning over all the guests in line. I had time to sample both of the drinks that did not say SWEET on them. This is a self serve drink dispenser with what looks like all home made drinks. Since Im diabetic sugary drinks are a no no. I tried one that did NOT say sweet and it tasted very sweet. Tried the other that didnt say sweet and same thing, very sweet. My guess is T they ALL have sugar but I have no way to really know for sure. If your diabetic I would just stick with water here. To do this texted special you have to buy a drink but they do have water for sale too. So yes it is nice to see staff making an effort to charm the customers. The food though is sub par. IThere is a very similar restaurant called Curry Up Now in a Decatur shopping center and if that is still there the pricing is similar and you get a nicely prepared dish of food for a similar price. There you can even get a nice picture of your food, here the food isnt photogenic, its falling apart with holes. They have many options to choose from and have an assortment of sauces for your meal and Naan. I do however feel the portions are a tad small for the price you pay. You almost have to get a Naan to fill you up or you will still be hungry after the main course... This time around I got lamb and Tiki Masala. I tried all 4 of their spices and ordered the green one in Mild which turned out to be quite HOT. No worries here as I love spicy food and devoured it. Take away portions are large enough I could split in two. You can add a few small veggie topping options, my favs are the corn relish and cool chutney. My boyfriend & I stopped by this place yesterday around 6:30pm. First of all, The customer service was not the greatest, there was a man and a woman working at that time. We got there, looked at the menu, and it took a while for us to understand how to order from the menu. Btw, no one greeted us as we walked in. It was obvious it was our first time, because we stared at the menu for a while and I felt rushed because the female worker was just staring at us and asked twice "are you guys ready?" Obviously not, because we are still looking at the menu, and we did not walk up to the line to order yet. I asked for the ready made chicken tikka masala rice bowl. The male worker asked "what sides," I looked at him a little confused, at first because I didn't hear him, and then when he repeated it again he seemed annoyed. While my boyfriend was ordering his food, the female worker seemed annoyed helping him out. We asked "what's a chutney?" .. No response, but that's fine. We figured it out ourselves. They seemed like they were in a rush, but we were the only customers in line at that time. I watched their interaction with other customers as well, wasn't the greatest. Very short, and unwelcoming. Honestly, the least the workers could have done was greet us when we walk in, or a SMILE. Is it hard to say "hello, welcome in." They could have asked "have you been here before? If not, I can show you how it's done?" I love Indian food, the food here was great, but I don't think I enjoyed it as much as i would have wanted to because of the customer service. The drink was refreshing and a good level of sweetness. The Naanstop location in Downtown Atlanta is great. I've been to that one several times; the food turns out delicious and the staff are friendly. I visited the Atlantic Station Naanstop for the first time and it'll be my last. One of the employees stopped working midway - while there was a long line - just to spend minutes explaining to a new employee about how to act in front of a regular customer. Very odd; those conversations should not take place in front of customers. That same employee also could not register what I was repeatedly telling her regarding what I wanted in my bowl. I give NaanStop 3.5 stars rounded up to 4. It's good/not bad. NaanStop is an LA food truck turned Atlanta restaurant chain. The restaurants serve fast-casual Indian food. This location in Atlantic Station is the company's third location. It opened in February 2019, replacing Tin Drum Asian Kitchen, across from Pho 24. Parking in the Atlantic Station parking deck is free for the first 2 hours. I recommend parking on level P2 (the lowest level) because it's less crowded. Enter via 16th St. Regardless which level you park on, try to park near stairwells 5 or 8 (green color) or 1 (red color). Those stairwells are closest to NaanStop. NaanStop renovated the old Tin Drum space and it looks great, inside and out, with colorful and interesting murals, artwork, and decor. The kitchen has been opened up so you can see inside. The highlight is a tandoor oven where each and every order of naan is cooked fresh-to-order. The ordering line is set up in an assembly line format, Chipotle-style, so you can pick and choose toppings and chutneys (sauces) as you go. They've got a bar in the back and sell alcohol. Combined with Indian pop music playing in the background, this place has a fun atmosphere. The day's naan selections are posted next to the naan-making station. During our visit, they were regular naan, garlic naan, and bullet naan (spicy). The food menu consists of build-your-own bowls (rice/salad) and sandwiches ("naanwiches") with up to 2 main entrees ($7.99 for 1, $9.99 for 2), naan, and any number of toppings and chutneys. If you don't want to build your own meal, there's an "easy ordering" menu with entrees like chicken tikka masala and even a family meal for 4 ($39.99). That said, in Atlantic Station, Westside, and Midtown, NaanStop is worth checking out. Really, I think the only food we were "meh" on was the chicken tikka masala. It wasn't great. I enjoyed everything else. At NaanStop, you can choose between white or brown basmati rice. I chose white (it tastes better to me). I originally wanted fish tikka masala which is made out with wild-caught North Pacific salmon. However, the server scooped it up, took a look, and gave me some honest advice not to get it. He was right. What little bits of salmon that remained in the serving container looked sad and dry. What I got instead, the paneer tikka masala, turned out to be excellent. It was my favorite of the foods I tried. Very appetizing flavor (rich, creamy) and texture (soft, smooth). I recommend it. The gobi was fine. My second-favorite item was the kabob (turkey). They almost didn't have any for us, but the stock was replenished just in time as we placed our order, so we got fresh kabob. The meat was chopped into small pieces. It was tender and savory. As for the toppings and chutneys, they were A-OK. I can't say I recommend one over another. They were all fresh and worth getting. My fiancee especially liked the cool chutney (raita made from yogurt, cucumber, and mint). The hot chutney was legitimately spicy. It's no joke. A customer that sat at a table next to us didn't realize how spicy the hot chutney was. It set his mouth on fire and he started hiccupping. Speaking of spicy, the bullet naan brought the heat. I love how NaanStop's naan is made-to-order, but the staff had problems getting orders out in a timely fashion. After a short wait, the naan we received was glistening and piping hot from the oven. They smelled and tasted terrific. If you can't handle spicy food, I suggest going with the garlic naan. Both the chai and mango lassi were delicious. I recommend both. It is located or replaced in the same place where we had a Tin Drum Asian Kitchen right across from the Regal Cinemas inside the Atlantic Station. This would be a great place to have a quick bite before or after a movie or some shopping in the Atlantic Station. Atlantic Station gives two hours of free parking in their garage. They do play nice Indian music, mostly some old songs from the famous movies in the back ground. I would have given them 5 star if they would have been open late hours. It is basically like a Chipotle, but an Indian, and really tasty and yummy. I have had all of these and loved them: the chicken, the lamb, the lentils thing, and the Chola or chickpeas thing. It's a bit more expensive than Chipotle if you want the same amount of food. I always get double protein here, while I sometimes don't at Chipotle. But everything tasted great and I will definitely go back. If I lived closer I would put it in my regular lunch rotation. You really can't go wrong when it comes to NaanStop, if you want fast fresh Indian food. They also serve fresh Samosas and Masala Fries. Don't forget to try their awesome yummy Mango Lassi or Chai Tea. This spot is a diamond in the rough. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. There are a variety of toppings and Chutneys/sauces that you can add to your meals like cool yogurt & cilantro or sweet Apple & tamarind or medium spice of Coconut & mint or a Native Indian Hot Chili & Cilantro. I ordered the loaded samosa and a Chickpea wrap. When I arrived to pick up I was greeted by the young man behind the counter. I picked up my order and headed home. Fast forward - THERE WAS A ROACH IN THE CHICKPEAS THAT CAME WITH THE LOADED SAMOSA! Can you say I was more than disgusted. My stomach is turning writing this. I've never experienced such a thing. First of all I wouldn't expect bugs in the food, second how do you plate a to-go item without inspecting it. I immediately noticed it when I looked in the carton, I wasn't sure what it was until I actually looked closer. Thank goodness all I did was take a small nibble from the samosa which was oily and possibly fried in old grease because it just had that taste. I cringe because I did dip it in the sauce from the chickpeas. The manager was apologetic but unfortunately there wasn't much she could do but process my refund. As a recent lover of Indian cuisine, I am very pleased with this new addition to the Atlantic dining scene. I came here specifically for a somosa because I'm obsessed with them. They make them fresh to order which is great and within 3 minutes I had a fresh crispy fried samosa. They only have one kind, I've been to a few other Indian restaurants in Atlanta that offer a meat or veggie version but they only had veggie. No problem at all. It was very tasty and came with two dipping sauces. My only drawback was that it was very greasy but its deep fried so I cant complain. The restaurant was very clean and great for groups or casual lunch. The staff was attentive and the food looked fresh. I will definitely be here again to enjoy a meal, rather than a snack.
