My friend and I ordered the butter chicken with rice and lamb curry with rice and two garlic naans. At first when we saw how huge the naan was we said that we should've only gotten one and shared... But man everything was ridiculously salty. We ended up eating all our rice and our own naan and drinking a ton of water. The food wouldve honestly been delicious if it weren't for all that salt. This is coming from someone who salts a ton on everything!! If I find it salty then it was definitely salty! Maybe it was just that day, but I don't plan to be coming back any time soon. Love that it comes with rice and you have the option to buy naan for an additional cost. I could easily do with just the rice and paneer but the naan is so worth it. Freshly made as you are ordering. The butter chicken was not butter chicken. It was some other spicy chicken recipe. And it was sooooo salty! The vegetables were garbanzo bean were stewed in the same salty sauce. Thankfully the rice was able to cut some of the salt out so I was able to eat a few more bites. I also tried a pickled item which was inedible. The naan was just as disappointing. It was like a frozen Costco naan herbs and garlic added then warmed up and cooked on a flat top to give it a golden underside. Nothing about this was good Indian food. I was really hoping the conveniently located and popular food truck was as good as the line suggested. I was a little concerned about time since it was the start of the lunch rush but it moved quickly. My coworker and I ordered the butter chicken. The price was great, but sometimes you get what you pay for? The truck is two blocks from my office, and I assumed if it was fresh and hot, that it would at least still be warm by the time I got to my desk. It was lukewarm at best in the middle, and a piece of chicken was actually cool on the edge. This is where I start to get concerned about temperature for the sake of food safety, so I decided to nuke it in the microwave. Microwaving didn't make any difference on flavor one way or the other, my coworker and I wondered if they forgot the butter? It tasted like leftover saag was used in the sauce to make the batch stretch, or idk if they were running low already. It was disappointing, there was definitely a flavor but it wasn't the one we expected and we couldn't place it. We order Indian food and have it delivered to the office in a semi regular basis and there are some great options in SLU, this one wasn't on par. And I got heartburn last night for the first time in a very long time. There's nothing about that meal that makes me want to give this a second chance later, especially because of the food handling concerns, and I've had really good and piping hot food from other trucks. Maybe there was an equipment issue yesterday and they tried their best, but still need to check it and make sure the temps are within a safe range? Maybe it was a fluke and some bad luck? This is hands down the best Indian food truck in SLU. Rain or shine there is a queue of at-least 20 people any time between 11:30 to 1pm. My personal fav is generally the specials like the pepper chicken or the Andhra chicken. The naan is exceptional but one needs to have it while it's hot. I do not like their lamb and I hope they make a change on this. Note: I love lamb but not here. A couple of feedbacks is that they should incorporate naan in their basic meal and not charge extra, after all they call themselves naan-sense. I felt like we may have only waited 5-10 min. - The piece of naan is probably the size of your face and more. Cons: - They don't ACTUALLY have garlic naan. Make no mistake, the food is very good. On my most recent visit I had lamb curry with rice and vegetables, naan and raita. It was really tasty. But the bad thing is the pricing - with a 10% gratuity, that was $16.25. That's way too much for a food-truck lunch. That's more than real restaurants charge for lunch. Yes, there was a cheaper chicken dish available. I love their food. But the prices are ridiculous. Each thing you get adds to the total. Sure you can get just chicken curry for $6 or so. But if you get lamb, and get the extras, it adds up fast. The sit-down Indian restaurant 4-blocks away has an all-you-can-eat buffet for half that price (not as good, but ...). So unless I'm pressed for time, I'll avoid NaanSense. I love their food, but I don't love their prices. And one more gripe - they don't include the tax in their pricing, so you get the tax added as a little surprise at the end. I'm a carnivore. Maybe that's why my experience is different from most others who have written reviews. I tried a sample of the lamb vindaloo, which I didn't like at all. I ordered the butter chicken with the eggplant side and garlic naan. The meat here, both the lamb and chicken, is super over cooked. It's really dry and has no moisture due to being cooked for so long. The flavors of the vindaloo and butter chicken were both just ok. The garlic naan didn't taste like garlic at all. It just tasted like plain naan. Perhaps vegetarians would appreciate Naansense more. I will not be going back. Saffron Spice is much better in my opinion. The best Indian food I've tried in Seattle is no doubt Moti Mahal. Juiciest and most flavorful butter chicken ever. read more

First time seeing these guys near work. I'm a huge makhani fan so naturally I wanted to try the Butter Chicken from Naansense. I also got a side of Garlic Naan. Please see my pros/cons listed below. I am giving this an overall 3 stars but am definitely willing to go again to try their specials and see if my "cons" are one-time things or if they occur multiple times. Cons: 1.Butter chicken was lacking a "creamy" element that I usually see in this recipe. 2.Garlic naan was lacking a garlic flavor. Sometimes I think I can taste it, but at this point I'm trying too hard to taste it. Pros: 1.Super quick! Maybe a 60 second wait for my fresh, steaming hot food. 2.Spice level of the butter chicken is delicious. Probably a 4 out of 10 heat level and it's perfect. 3.Servings are large. The naan was about the size of a shoe box if that gives you an idea. 4 Prices were reasonable for the size.You can order entree+ rice or entree+rice+veg. No, don't eat here. It might smell amazing when you walk by but it isn't worth it at all. It's so greasy and even if you ask for the veggies and no rice they will still charge you for everything, might as well gotten the rice and it "might" be worth it. The Naan was meh, there was no browning on one side which made me feel like it wasn't baked all the way. Again, it was SO greasy that I used 4 paper towels to soak most of it up. Honest to god the best Indian food I've had in all of the greater Seattle area. I've paid Naansense a visit at least 7 times now in the last few months, so here's some tips from a fan: - The line always looks long, but it moves fast. I've never waited more than 10min from beginning to leaving with food in hand. - The paneer dishes are the way to go. I've gotten the chicken ones before, and they're good, but not as great as the paneer. - Absolutely do not leave without the naan. Tastes best piping hot fresh. - The spinach dal is good, but I personally favor the eggplant. - Naansense is very reliable in posting their schedule on their site and their menu for the day on Twitter, which is very helpful! As for Peter G.'s review below, dude, chill out with the entitlement. You can't expect a food truck to not sell out of certain dishes within a reasonable time. Naansense is a deceptively great food truck, serving up great Indian food. I've had Naansense several times and I've never walked away disappointed. In fact, I tend to circle my calendar when I know it's nearby, so I can make it a point to stop by during my lunch break. If you enjoy Indian curry, then I would trust that you'd enjoy this food truck's offerings. Across all its meat offerings the meats are considerably tender. It's tender the the point where you can easily cut through it with a plastic spoon. The Butter Chicken is savory, creamy and obviously buttery. The chicken itself is fresh plentiful and it's very tender and juicy. The rice is a nice provider of balance to the butteriness of the curry. It's delicious. The Lamb Meatball Curry is also extremely flavorful. It's very generous with the amount of lamb in the serving and the curry is full of flavor. There's a very, very mild spice to the curry that adds to the depth of flavor. There are so many spices that come through that make it such a flavorful dish. The Naan is a must. The naan is huge, it's the size of my head. It's becomes very pre-buttered in a brown paper bag and it w/ the butter chicken or lamb curry makes for such a delicious bite of food. It's buttery, light and crispy. It's good on its own but it's even better when your grab a piece of meat or wipe up some sauce with it. It's a must. In addition to the daily meat options there's also a rotating daily special that is also extremely delicious too. Cons: If you're in a time crunch and it's during lunch rush then you'll probably struggle to get food in time, but that's only because there tends to be so many people in line! -- if you see this food truck with none one in line, do yourself a favor and check it out. First time at Naansense today. Had a big craving for some indian food and walked myself to SLU from Belltown since the weather was nice. I ordered the Kodi Kura Chicken with rice and garlic naan. The woman at the truck mentioned that it had more kick than the butter chicken and I was feeling a bit spicy myself. The chicken was flavorful and tender. The curry sauce was savory and had a hint of coconut, but not too much sweetness was added, which I prefer. Spice level was a nice medium and it paired with the garlic naan perfectly. I don't know a lot about naan but I was happy with what I ordered. All told, it was about $11 including tax and tip for the chicken, rice, and naan. I was definitely full off of all of the food. I appreciate the separated price points offered by Naansense ($6-7 for entree with rice, extra for the naan). I don't mind spending $10 or more at a food truck if the food is tasty, which this was. I got lunch from your food truck at 9th and Westlake in Seattle. There was a lady at the register and when i ordered, there was no naan, so i just got a curry and rice. By the time my order was ready, a guy in front of me asked the lady if any naans were available and she said yes, three were available. When it was my turn to collect the order, i asked the same question: "Do you have any extra naans"? She: "We have no extra naans. I don't know what to tell you, there is nothing extra. One advise - if you plan to have food here, visit as early as possible. 11.30 AM is a good time. Because, from 12 PM to 1 PM, you should expect a long wait time. Edit: Off late, they seem to run out of vegetarian options pretty soon. I'm disappointed for the third time today. I had to wait in a long queue and as I progress both the main dish (Paneer zalfrezi) and my favorite side (mixed vegetable korma) ran out. One of the better Indian food options in SLU/downtown area. There were about 25 people ahead of me in the line at 11.30am, but the line moves fast. I waited about 15-20 minutes in the line, and about 2-3 minutes more for the food after placing my order. The chicken (pudina) and chana masala were both good. Naan was soft but not as great as the reviews I had heard/read. Cucumber raita is a good add-on! $8-9 for the basic meals with 2 curries and rice, I think another $2 or $2.50 for the naan, $0.75 for the raita.
