When you arrive parking can be a bit difficult, there is a small parking lot out front, if that's full you'll need to find street park. The restaurant itself feels warm, casual, and bustling. Queen you walk in you have the option to sit on the backyard patio or in the dining room. We opted to sit in the dining room as it just felt more intimate and the vibe we were wanting for dinner. For our appetizer, we started with the Samosas (Two crispy pastries filled with your choice of freshly mixed vegetables or delicately spiced lean ground beef) which were excellent. Next we ordered the garlic naan, chicken tikka masala, and butter chicken. The naan and samosas showed up piping hot but the chicken tikka masala & butter chicken were cold. I probably should have said something as I was disappointed but was too hungry to care at that moment. If I'm in the Seattle area I may stop by Taste of India again.

The interior has charm and is well-decorated to match the old building. The restaurant has always been a nice stop before events at the stadiums, or, in my recent case, a good lunch spot during jury duty (the thali was a nice chance to try various items on the menu). My partner and I were recently looking for local restaurants which can do catering for a large event - and preferably with a Bengali focused menu. Fortunately, we were in Pioneer Square around that time and stopped in at Nirmal's. Oliver, the owner, was making his rounds at tables checking in on guests; we decided to ask him about catering and he assured us it would be possible. He had Chef Sunit come out and meet us as well, who further assured us they would be able to handle it no problem. We exchanged numbers and began discussing possible menu options over text; Chef Sunit suggested we come visit in person to try a sample of the proposed menu. Over the course of a couple hours we got to try many dishes which are not on their typical menu; and which are generally hard to find in the Seattle area. It was clear from this point forward that Sunit & Oliver were the right team for our event. The event itself went off flawlessly with Nirmal's as the caterer. Many of our guests asked about where the food was from and we happily mentioned the restaurant and introduced our guests to the Nirmal's team. Sunit was on-site the whole time ensuring everything was operating smoothly. So, overall, a big thank you to the Nirmal's team, and we look forward to visiting the restaurant again soon to say thank-you in person.

It did take some time to get food and it seems like the kitchen was frustrated too as I heard the bell signaling food being ready several times. The food was actually good, especially for the price. The portions are generous. We never had paratha but our friend recommended it so we got the aloo paratha while my boyfriend got their butter masala and I got their tikka masala extra hot. You can tell each dish is made with care. The team here is thoughtful and welcoming, and they make sure you have everything you need without ever making you feel rushed. That kind of service stays with you. And being so close to the Seattle waterfront makes it even nicer. It's a lovely place to enjoy a meal and slow down for a moment. Not exactly sure what to get, we ordered the momo combo, the malai momos, and the tandoori momos - all chicken. These did more than live up to the hype. They're simply the best momos I've ever had. The sample size on that isn't huge, as I've only had it from about three or four different places, but these blow those other places out of the water so much it's crazy. The quality here is simply spectacular - every kind of momo present is so delightful to consume. The level of marination on each of these is highly impressive. The momo combo comes with sandheko, steamed, chili, and fried types. Each of these are awesome. The fried momo has a great crunch without being overly bready. It reminds me a little of a turnover, but savory. The sandheko momo is dripping with a nutty, oily flavor. The chili momo isn't super spicy, but contains just enough for your tongue to feel that it's there - and it has a beautiful deep red color. The malai momos are also awesome. These are nutty and creamy to the max - drenched in sauce yet the dough still stays firm on the outside. The combination of flavors with the chicken feels like it shouldn't work, but it just does in a way that's purely addicting. Out of the three orders though, my favorite has to be the tandoori momos. These are plump, juicy, and the reddish brown exterior feels like they actually were cooked in a tandoor. They're the only ones crispy on the outside, yet the chicken on the inside stays the same level of soft and juicy as the other ones. I should mention how good the filling - despite being ground chicken - is. It tastes better than a lot of the pork filling I've had in other dumplings. We also had the garlic basil naan, with tomato achar. While the achar wasn't my favorite as it felt too liquidy, the naan was quite soft and enjoyable to even eat plain. Also the momo sauce wasn't my favorite either as it felt too tomato-forward. Each order was around $15-17, which for 10 pieces, I'd say is a decent enough price. Overall, I find it hard to believe that these momos will be topped anytime soon. 9.15/10

I also tried their Chowmein which tasted really good and had the street style flavor which I was expecting. They have a good variety at good prices, which definitely impressed me and I hope they don't raise it as they get more popular. The service was polite and friendly and there's plenty of seating. The only downside is that the location isn't the greatest, but the restaurant itself is nice and comfortable inside. I'll definitely be coming back to try more of their momo.
