This place is usually a place I stop by after having my Vietnamese food in the shopping plaza they share. Always a friendly face to greet you. And if you are lucky you can smell a fresh batch of pan de sal coming out of the oven. I usually grab one of their matcha sponge cake (that's just what I call it!). I have no clue if it is even matcha, but it's delicious. One time I came in and they had a whole roast suckling pig out. It looked super crispy and made the entire store smell incredible. If you are in the area they are definitely worth checking out. There are many other things worth checking out. Just go and pick a few things at random. ENJOY!!! read more

My rating is 0. They sold me this pack of burnt pandesal. When I complained, she said they are not burnt. My mistake was, I did not look inside. I still bought them. When I got home, I opened the pack,and everything is burnt. Very very brown top. Tasted one bun, very bitter to the taste. I am a Filipino and I know pandesal. This used to be my go-to for siopao, but the quality has declined lately. I tasted crunchy eggshells in the bread of the siopao I recently purchased. I thought it was a fluke, but I tried another siopao and tasted the crunchy eggshells again. Also, the pork asado filling had a chemical taste like rancid oil. They sell the siopao in unmarked plastic bags with no label or date whatsoever, so you never know if you're buying an item that was made today or yesterday or many days ago. Unfortunately, I will have to stop purchasing siopao from here altogether. read more

Surprised that Myra's got such a low rating on Yelp after my visit here last week. The reviews initially made me feel hesitant to come here, but it was the only Filipino bakery in the area and I really wanted some pan de sal so I made due and was thankfully relieved. Perhaps I came on a good evening (arrived around 6:30 pm), but everything I bought was very fresh and extremely cheap. From what I read, people have had bad customer service here too but the younger woman who took care of me at the register (didn't get her name) was very pleasant. I bought a bag of pan de sal (12 rolls for $3) and the rolls were all very soft and tasted fresh until my family and I ate them all, which took about 5 days. They didn't taste stale and they didn't get moldy, unlike other reviews written on here. I also bought a chicken asado siopao (siopao = steamed bun) and a pork asado siopao for $1.25 each. Microwaved each of them the next day for about 35 seconds and they tasted delicious. A generous amount of filling inside too. Lastly, I got the empanadas (3 for $5). I heated them in the microwave for about a minute at home. The inside was too dry for me, which is why I deducted a star, but the dough was good. Overall, I highly recommend the pan de sal and siopao here. Based on my recent experience, I'd imagine the rest of their baked goods are delicious too. read more

A small bakery in a shopping plaza with an assortment of baked goods such as roll cake, sponge cake, and pork buns. MAKE SURE YOU BRING CASH! There's a $10 card minimum, and you would think that you would surpass that easily after purchasing several items. However, a lot of these food items are priced pretty low. I ended up getting 2 pork buns and a sponge cake. The pork buns were delicious, one was already sitting out and the other came out fresh. Obviously the fresh one tasted better since it was still warm, but I bet a short time in the microwave would help boost a pre-made one. The pork inside was really tender and flavorful, something to really appreciate about a small bakery. I really hope they make these in house because that would be even more admirable! The green sponge cake that I picked up wasn't a typical sponge cake. It was basically two layers of cake with a thin layer of cream in between. It was pretty gross since its texture actually made me think I was biting into a sponge. It wasn't really a nice, soft, bounce back feel. When biting a piece off, it was similar to the feeling of ripping up foam. Come here to try the pork buns for sure!! They're the perfect snack. read more

Fresh Pandesal six days a week?! I have a sneaking suspicion my mom comes here very often with her friends. She knows the stock & layout too well. She greets the owners with more than a polite familiarity. And her eyes don't bug out when she walks in like mine do. Ever since my trip to my maternal homeland, I've been craving that hot, soft, sweet pandesal. And now that I know Myra's has fresh pandesal from 11:30a - 1:30p every day but Wednesday, it's going to be hard to keep me away from this place. Yes, there are other baked goodies here. They make those buttercream cakes (that I don't like - sorry!), tons of rolls stuffed with various meats & fruits, but I'm just going to keep my eyes on the prize. PANDESAL! PS: The parking lot is tiny, shared with East West (great Filipino buffet for lunch!) and its adjacent Asian supermarket, so be prepared. I hear rumors of additional parking on the side street, but I've always been lucky to get a spot in the strange triangular lot. read more

This spot offered a decent selection of Philippine breads and pastries. The Pan de Sal and Pan de Leche looked great...they also had Hopia Mongo. I went for the Ube Ensaymada, which was good - a rich brioche-type of bread with the usual sweet and rich flavors covering the top of the pastry, but it was filled with ube, which made for a nice change from the usual. I wanted dessert after lunch at Bingh Duong, but East West Market didn't quite have what I was looking for. We ordered lechon a week and a half in advance for my nephew's baptism. It was fully paid in advance. When we got there on day of pick up they told us their freezer was broken and that is why there was no lechon prepared. They never called to inform us that they had an issue and we were left frantic trying to figure out what to feed our guests the day of the event. The cashier or the cook were unaware that there was a lechon order and if we didn't save our receipt they probably wouldn't even reimburse us. Refund or not, damage was done as we scrambled to get food from a different place hours before the event, in addition to the disappointment and embarrassment to our guests for having promised lechon. It was a nightmare. Needless to say, we are never coming back and we would never recommend this place. read more

Myra's Bakery has a solid selection of freshly baked Filipino breads and pastries daily, which is good to know. Unless you happen to stop by on "market day," a lot of the baked goods you'll find in neighboring East West Market are old and taste stale; that's actually why I stopped by here instead. For such a small place, this bakery does have quite a bit of a selection. The freshly baked pan de sal is delicious and is a must-buy. I prefer the original one, but a sweet yellow variation is also available. Aside from bread, they have savory pastries and buns, Hopia, various assortments of Siopao, decorative cakes in the glass display, slices of Sans Rival, and Ensaymada among other items. There is also a coffee area near the entrance. Their Pandan Spongecake, with what I believe is a vanilla cream, was a tasty treat on my way home. The spongecake had the perfect texture, was fluffy, and had a lot of cream in the middle. There is also a mocha spongecake for those that are interested. I would definitely buy them more frequently--and other items in general--if there were more items (non-cake) that were ube flavored. read more

The bakery should have a better quality control for their bread products. I bought their pandesal from H-Mart in Edison and two other Asian Stores near me, and in all cases, the bread started to have molds very early while sitting on my kitchen shelf. The mold started a week before the 'Sell By Dates' in the bags. One piece of advice to other pandesal consumers, watch for molds on Stella bread products, the day after your purchase. Stopped by for some lunch treats after shopping at East West. Got some chicken buns - not great, sparse filling was bland, and one had a sizable bone in it. Empanadas, however, were the big disappointment. Smaller than I remember and packaged 3 for $5. Not much filling, again drab seasoning, and finally they weren't crispy and flakey the way they used to be. Seemed to have been made with standard dough and baked rather than fried - they came out chewy and unsatisfying. Not sure what happened here at Myra's but tossed the other 2 empanadas and have no reason to return. read more

The guy in front was rude, I asked him if there was hot pandesal. He responded "no they don't have any". I ask how long is going to be available? He said 10 to 15 minutes. Came back after 20 minutes and I ordered 2 dozens of hot pandesal. Saw him in back shoving 2 dozens of pandesal in one brown bag using his hand and sometimes his sweater sleeves because they were hot, a couple of them fell on the floor. I saw him picked it up and hesitated on what to with it. I asked how come he doesn't use tongs? His response was "it's to hot" I said "exactly " he also said that he was working on bread that's why he doesn't need to use gloves nor tongs. I would never go back to this place read more

I was excited to find a Filippino bakery, but watch out for the stale, a couple of days old roll-cakes and other baked goods. I have had few of old roll-cake, and have gone back to complain. A woman, by the name of Emily, does not seem to know when it was baked nor care. She had very little Customer Service skills. I have a suggestion for the owner. Please date your cake and have your staff be knowledgeble of all the items that you carry in your store. More training needed! read more
