Warby Parker is where I found excellence in knowledge, professionalism, and friendless. Everyone at the office that day was great!!!! Liam, Megan, and my favorite chick (but I've completely forgotten her name and sincerely apologize) she was absolutely amazing and outside of there, I could see myself being friends with her :) My visit was 3/31/26 at 3:45, as well as my Doctor she was fantastic and very thorough!! Definitely not gonna happen in Charlottesville, so I dropped major $$$$ just to make this happen. I ordered eyeglasses from Singapore from a South Korean brand called Gentle Monster. I have been rejected by most optical shops, including Costco and LensCrafters. My heart sank when they both said they could not work with my frames! Maybe, they just want me to purchase from their showroom because they kept me in the store to try "similar" frames. So, google is your friend and I was directed to the Spectacle Shop! The ONLY place that did not turn me away! So I got my newly minted high index (1.74) lenses on my fit-to-face frames. The optician even adjusted my old frames. I do want to mention that I paid out of pocket. I was not able to use my vision insurance here. Excellent service! I will be back for adjustment and repair.

I had my suglasses tuned up by one of the "associates" at the Barracks location, where the the lenses were broken within 5 minutes of handling. Since the frame was discontinued, I was offered very limited options as far as replacements. Long story short - my sunglasses were broken and was given an insulting 10% discount on my next purchase. I would consider playing "frogger" on I-495 before ever going into that shop again.

A lot of people go to Charlottesville Eye Associates for their eyecare, which is an endorsement in itself. My experience so far has been great. After twice getting new glasses that weren't working for me after a few weeks (at another practice), then having trouble driving on a dark highway at night, I had cataract removal and lens implants at age 50. (My brother had the procedure done at 45, so genetics were likely the reason for my early issues.) Dr. Grover was recommended as "the" person to go to, and I was not disappointed with his service. He is friendly, efficient and highly competent. With my second eye now done, I can see 20-20 at distance, with clarity to the horizon, and I am now good to drive without glasses. My overall vision has never been this good, and so I wanted to express my gratitude to Dr. Grover and the rest of the staff. His recommendation for a standard lens in one eye and a Toric lens in the other worked out with miraculous results. The only drawbacks I can identify are the tradeoffs that they warn you about, but I'm not sure I was fully prepared for. I do get floaters and light sensitivity, including morning strobing, which I hope will either go away in time or I'll at least adapt to and notice less. Also, I now need reading glasses, since I went from nearsighted to farsighted with the surgeries. I did not go with the most expensive lenses that address both near and far vision, because there was a warning that some people experience glare. Given the state of my eyes, that was a good call, I think. I'm still in the period of finishing up eye drops and final healing, so the ultimate state of my eyes is subject to revision over time. But knowing that the removal had to be done (it only gets worse over time until addressed), I feel like I made the right choice going to Charlottesville Eye to have the work done.

Something I didn't notice most of the time but there were certain visual situations where I thought my eyes must be going really bad..... and when I came in they did recheck, confirmed the typo, and remade my glasses. But it was weird. And I felt like they regarded me with suspicion and side-eye the whole time and only begrudgingly admitted their mistake. And they talked down to me like it was my fault and told me it really would only make a minor difference, and my vision would get worse anyway!!! It still chaps my ass months later.
