She was very patient and kind...she took her time and examined my eyes carefully. I have Grave's eye disease and she even went so far as to take measurements of my eyes...and didn't charge me extra, even though I'm sure my appointment took longer than most. I got my exam for only $60 (without any insurance) and I purchased glasses for only $54!! My glasses were ordered on Friday morning and they had them in store for me by lunch time on the following Monday! I wasn't expecting such good service considering how inexpensive they are. I am VERY impressed and I have already told all of my family and friends to give it a try! I will be going back for my future exams!

What really made this place deserve 5 stars is what happened almost a year after. I was in Mexico City for some time and realized I could take advantage of the cheap prescription sunglasses there. With only a few days left, I called the office back in the states to get my prescription. Eventually the phone was picked up and I was told that they are not in the location I had my exam at and asked if I can wait until the next day. Since I couldn't, they had someone stop by the office to take a picture of my prescription to send it to me. This isn't something every office would do for you and for that I am forever grateful. I had an awful experience with UVA Eye Clinic both at West Main Complex and Northridge Centre. They eventually refused to treat me without any valid reason whatsoever. Dr. McKenna of EyeOne saw me about 2 weeks ago and we discussed having a capsulotomy on the right eye (YAG OD). She didn't raise my hopes, but being the courteous professional that she is, Dr. McKenna informed me that she would perform the procedure because it makes medical sense to do so instead of waiting for one year later when it would have to be done. She performed the capsulotomy, and I am able to see so much better. I still have a blur occasionally, but I have noticed it is becoming less frequent by the day. I am optimistic that the blur will eventually disappear completely. It's little things like this which make a huge difference in a patient's life. Dr. Long performed cataract surgery on both eyes, with "clean up" surgery when I had floaters after each surgery. When I called the office about flashing lights in one eye, he saw me right away....saw that I had a torn retina and sent me immediately to a retina specialist. All this happened in one afternoon, with surgery 2 days later. The staff at the front desk were always friendly and helpful, as were the technicians and eyeglass specialists. I had complete faith and confidence in Dr. Long, and could reach the office directly by phone. Then Dr. Long retired. I had a bad year in 2023, with two major abdominal surgeries following an extended illness. Needing to get back on track, I contacted EyeOne to make an appointment. The phones are answered off premise these days, so I requested an appointment on the website. The following week I received an email from Kaitlin. In the end I was told the next available appointment was July 11....four months wait! Not happy. Showed up on July 11 at 1:00 pm. Three people at the front desk. One never looked up the entire time, nobody said anything, but the one in the middle looked at me. I told her who I was. She looked at her computer and said the office had called me on July 3 and left a message saying my appointment was canceled and to call to reschedule. Dr. McKenna was out of the office, called away on an emergency.....which was apparently anticipated on July 3. [They called my cell, which is kept on its charger and never listed as my primary phone. EyeOne has always called our home...for both my husband and me. ]. I checked my phone and did see they had called, but there was no message on my cell, no call to my home, and no text or email. I was then told they could reschedule my appointment on September 10. No thank you!

I chose the Pantops (Peter Jefferson Pkwy) office after discovering that it was much closer to…read morewhere I live. I had already visited other MyEyeDr offices to shop and compare, as I was looking to get a backup pair of prescription sunglasses. I found most of the other offices far more customer-friendly than this one. With the exception of Avory, who was most impressive in her courtesy, professionalism and superb customer service skills, I found the front staff lacking in their approach to customer service. Unfortunately, I did not have an opportunity to work with Avory. However, I continually observed her performance with other customers while I was working with Rashonda. Avory genuinely seemed happy to be working there and always verbally welcomed guests as they entered the office. Other staff appeared to have a perfunctory "just going through the motions" attitude about their work. I am rating this office three stars, rather than only two stars, because everyone seemed to be technically competent in their trade. Thus, if you care only about technical proficiency, then this office is fine. But if you're like me and you want not only technical competence from your eye doctor experience, but a friendly, engaging interaction where you feel welcomed and glad you came, then I don't think the Pantops (Jefferson Parkwy) office is your best option. If you are lucky to work with Avory, then you should walk away feeling very pleased with your experience. Otherwise, with the other front staff, I recommend looking elsewhere. I certainly plan to choose another MyEyeDr office after I pick up my current pair of sunglasses soon! Thank you, Avory, for setting a good role-modeling example for your colleagues.
