But it was weird. And I felt like they regarded me with suspicion and side-eye the whole time and only begrudgingly admitted their mistake. And they talked down to me like it was my fault and told me it really would only make a minor difference, and my vision would get worse anyway!!! It still chaps my ass months later. Here is what happened to me today, 28 February, 2023L When I made an appointment by phone for an eye exam two weeks ago, I specifically asked how much it would cost. I was told by the very friendly voice of "Wally" that it would be $189.00 He then asked me if I had Medicare and supplemental insurance. I said yes, and then asked how much of that Medicare would pay. He said 80% if I had met my deductible. I went ahead and made an appointment. I called back a second time and asked Wally to confirm that it would be $189. He confirmed. When I showed up today for the appointment I asked Wally again how much it will be. For a third time he said $189, and I gave him my Medicare and insurance cards. After doing this and before going in for the exam I thought I had better confirm the price one more time because I didn't want to get stuck with a surprise bill. This time he said that it will be $189 "If you pay in cash today" and $249. "if you use Medicare," and you have to pay today $79.00 for "non-payment service." I protested, saying that he didn't tell me all this the two times I talked with him on the phone or when I asked him the first time when I came today for the appointment. He denied everything. This is the typical "Bait and Switch" tactic. I asked to see Dr. Crowder because I wanted to register my complaint with her. She came out and sat down with me, but explained that it was $189. "if I paid cash," but $249. "if I used Medicare." I said I was not told that until just now. It didn't make any difference. I said I would post a review. She asked me if I would report it to Medicare. I said I would. As a taxpayer, I do not believe it is fair to charge one amount for a cash price and a higher price to Medicare. BEWARE! Paul M.

As soon as I mentioned leaving, the doctor saw me immediately -- which made it clear the delay wasn't due to workload but a lack of urgency. The front staff felt dismissive and unprofessional. When I requested glasses and a pack of contacts, the woman with curly hair interrupted me repeatedly with "hold on, hold on, you are going way too fast" even though I was simply responding to her question of what I wanted which never changed each time I said I wanted just GLASSES AND CONTACTS!! (Nothing about deals or offers or what I could get on the glasses). Before I could even say contacts she interrupted me not once but multiple times after asking what I wanted to order (Which was about three times mind you) and all I said was glasses and contacts!! That was it! I wasn't asking for offers, deals, or extra info -- just placing a straightforward order. Somehow, that was too difficult for her to process. Maybe hire someone that can take a simple order instead of someone that gets overwhelmed by just a simple straightforward order. She acted like it was way too hard to keep up with just glasses and contacts. I couldn't imagine if I had to ask about anything else. I worked in customer service for 8 years I know how hard it can be but if someone can't even take basic request without acting like it's too much for her to handle than you need to find someone who can. I can understand if I was asking a bunch of questions or wanting a bunch of stuff but I literally just ask for glasses and contacts nothing else about info or anything. Working in customer service there was times I had to take many MANY request and questions and process them immediately! I never once told a customer hold on you're going to fast and cut them off! Very unprofessional!!! Compared to other EyeOne centers nearby, this one stands out -- and not in a good way. I won't be returning to the Waynesboro location. PS, (this is the first and last time I go to the waynesboro office. If you are in the area trust me and drive a few more minutes to save you some time and respect and go to the fishersville office or Staunton office. The fishersville office I have been going to for 10 years and has always had friendly staff and doctors who value your time.)
