I've never been so disappointed in a doctor in my life. When the eye doctor you've trusted and…read morecounted on for years suddenly refuses to help and leaves you in tears in their office, that's medical negligence. That trust is broken, and it's time to find someone new. I also can't recommend her to anyone else anymore. She's not the doctor I thought she was. It started over a year ago. When I suddenly got 24/7 nystagmus from an injection in my ear for Meniere's Disease, I went to Dr. Adams because this was a vision thing. But she would only confirm it was nystagmus. She had no suggestions. She said NO glasses would help. When I found something called vision therapy online months later (which helps nystagmus with Meniere's patients who don't respond to vestibular therapy), I went back her, and she found a place. I went, and it turned out that vision therapy involved GLASSES. They took a while to get used to, but I could read with them, which had been the biggest problem. In the meantime, I had major rotator cuff and bicep surgery that took months of recovery, and I couldn't follow up. But just recently after over a year, the nystagmus resolved, just like my Meniere's specialist had said it would. It just took much longer. The problem now is I can't see out of the therapy glasses. And I have lost my last pair of regular glasses. I had been replacing the lenses because I liked the frames. My last prescription expired in July. And I only have one pair of prescription glasses that are about three prescriptions old. So I'm experiencing what I believe to be eye strain. I went to Dr. Adams' office Monday to share the good news the nystagmus was gone, but that I only have old glasses and now have eye strain and need new ones, but I was told Dr. Adams would NOT set an appointment with me! I was shocked. The next morning, Tuesday, after stressing all night (which greatly exacerbates Meniere's) I called Dr. Adams' office reiterating my eye strain. I already have dry eye and eye inflammation from Long Covid that she treats. They had a cancelation, so could fit me in. But when I got there, she refused to do an eye exam! She said she would check the eye issues I was having, but wouldn't do an exam for glasses! She told me she never heard from the vision therapy guy, and she would see if I need more therapy, for something that has stopped! Just like my Meniere's doctor said it would! She proceeded to say it was HER idea to send me to vision therapy! My mouth literally dropped open! She DID decide my eyes were irritated because of allergies and prescribed eye drops, that could CAUSE nystagmus so I can't use them!. She totally dismissed eye strain from old glasses. Now she's waiting two weeks to MAYBE do an eye exam. Weeks longer to get glasses. She says irritation (that I have multiple times a year, and she's treated before) could change my prescription! SO, apparently it changes several times a year! Last night I dropped my glasses, and it occurred to me that if anything happens to them, I will be totally screwed. I can't see without them. I won't be able to read anything, see my phone, etc. I have ONE pair of glasses and an expired prescription. I am a Meniere's fall away from breaking the one pair, and not being able to work. I'll lose money. That's malpractice damage. Basically, Dr. Adams is holding my ability to see hostage. And knows it! Today I called and literally BEGGED for an eye exam or extension on the old prescription, EVEN if I need a new one after this. ANYONE with glasses can understand and ANY eye doctor SHOULD. (Is anyone old enough to remember the Twilight Zone where the poor guy breaks his glasses??) Dr. Adams REFUSED...AGAIN! Even her staff doesn't know why. It's uncalled for, hateful, and NOT helping her patient. I'm really sad to leave this group. Her staff is wonderful. I've thanked a couple of them for being sweet and trying to help me through this. I don't feel that from Dr. Adams anymore at all. I can't trust her care. Her callousness is appalling. Seeing reviews now on WedMD, she's done this to others, too.
