Time for my husband's annual eye exam with Dr. Workman, which had been scheduled a year ago during…read morehis initial appointment. As before, he had the basic appointment to check his vision (and the power of his eyeglasses), as well as having photos of the eye to check for eye diseases. It turns out that our insurance was better than previously reported here -- covering the main exam (less co-pay) but not the photos. We recommend this practice.

The two stars go to Dr. Tsai because I really liked him and he was a good doctor. Now for the…read morenegative. THIS OFFICE DOES NOT ACCEPT VSP. And they will not tell you this. I told them over the phone I have VSP. They went ahead and scheduled my appointment without saying a word. I went in for the exam. That went very well. I got to the checkout and it cost $90. I thought that was odd but paid it and went home to check my benefits on VSP website. Everything I looked at said I should've only paid $25. I called the office. She looked at it again and verified she charged me correctly. She was clearly looking at a different set of benefits than me. I called VSP for clarification and VSP confirmed WALMART IS OUT OF NETWORK. Really? Then why does Walmart have a huge sign out front that says they accept VSP?! So now I am out $65 which is quite a significant amount to me. I realize it's my responsibility to check who is in network for me. But I chalk this up to poor customer service. How could you let someone use services without even letting them know? Never going back.

Dr Tsai is the best eye doctor I have ever seen…read more He always gives me so much easy to understand information about my eyes and my vision, and very much more info than my ophthalmologist. His office staff are very professional and very kind. They told me upfront that they would submit my bill to my ins co for me, that I would need to pay my bill at the time of my visit, that my ins co would reimburse me, and they just did! :)

I drive from Charlottesville to Lake Monticello to see Dr. Vicki Weiss, because I feel like she…read morereally cares about my eye health and works hard to get my (very tricky) prescription right. The staff is always friendly and helpful. They make it easy to order my daughters' contact lenses and have them shipped to my house. They don't have the biggest selection of glasses but there is a good range of styles and prices: I have always founds something great. Vicki and Dr. Doug Weiss have both helped elderly members of my family and have a lot of patience! I also like supporting a local business that gives a lot back to the community, instead of a chain store.

After driving out of my way twice and being greeted with a locked door and the lights off, I finally called to set up an appointment to adjust my glasses (they are slightly crooked, it would take less than five minutes to fix), I found out the reasons I kept getting locked out: (1) if you want to see anyone for anything, you need to be there a full 20 minutes before they close, even if you're going to physically pick up glasses that are already paid for (they INSIST that this will require 20 minutes, it took me less than five when I missed work the next morning after being turned away the day before); and (2) their looney-tunes hours change EVERY WEEK. You have to call the week before you want to schedule a visit and actually ask, or get their voicemail. As a bonus, for those of us that work from 9-5:30, you might not be able to come in without missing work for 2+ weeks, because there are entire weeks where they are not open past 6. This much effort should not have to be involved for the simple, quick task of adjusting frames to fit my face better. I am a reasonable person, but after wasting over two hours of my life trying to come in during their posted hours only to find that everybody decided to leave early, I needed to warn others. Super inconvenient and unprofessional for a medical business.
