    Maple Latte
    Nathan D.

We were on Granville Island to explore and came across this on our way to the Kid's Market. Being parents of a toddler an afternoon pick-me-up was in order so we stopped in. They have a good selection of snack and drinks, plus a pretty cool cotton candy machine in the back. I ordered a simple double espresso and a maple latte for my wife. They had both drinks out pretty quick and the latte looked great! I had my espresso and it was smooth and not very bitter which was nice. The maple latte though, wow! It was so good I wish I'd ordered 2 instead of just one. The staff was friendly and fun, they were joking with the family before us. A great little coffee shop outside of the main market area right next to a tranquil pond and the kids market.

Nice little cafe under the bridge across from Granville Island Public Market. Their coffee is regular, not bad. They have food but have not tried them as I was just walking from the food market and just decided to have coffee. They have plenty of seats inside and outside. At the back there are kids playground. The place is clean. Nothing really stands out.

I'm so surprised this adorable cafe right at the entrance to Granville Island and literally right under the Granville Bridge hasn't yet been reviewed. To my knowledge, it's been here at least 3-4 years. I know I've passed it often, each time, my kids and I have commented how cute it is and how we need to visit. This morning I finally visited. Located just behind the Kid's Market, and along the water and seawall/trail, this cafe is aesthetically charming, with its cheery yellow exterior and bright red trim around the windows and the patio railings and awning. There's a wonderful outdoor patio area too, compete with umbrellas providing shade over the bistro tables, and the patio is close to benches and climbing apparatuses for the kids. Just a few yards away is a water play/misting area (great on these hot summer days). So this is a perfect place to grab a snack or lunch with your kids, if you're visiting the area with your family. If you visit before 11am, parking is free (bonus!). I snagged a spot nearby at 10am so I was pleased. The aroma of baked goods and fresh coffee wafted from the place and it smelled SO good! I ordered a chai latté and a bacon-egg English muffin "sandwich". The latte was delicious, and the barista even made a froth milk "heart" on the top. It was a perfect chai latté. My breakfast sandwich was also delicious, and ingredients were all fresh, and the bread was perfectly toasted and chewy. They have bathrooms here for customers, too FYI. My only gripe concerns their spotty wi-fi service here. Signs say they have free Telus wi-fi and go over the simple directions to log on. When I sat outside on their patio, my connection was lost after a few minutes and just wouldn't re-connect. So I moved inside and tried logging in again, to no avail.

Happy to discover that this place was nice and quiet inside so would definitely consider coming back here again. Food was awesome. I absolutely loved my Shakshuka. Might be the best Shakshuka I've ever had. Not that I'm any authority figure on what a Shakshuka should taste like. But I really enjoyed this one. The combination of flavors, the runny egg yolks, the gooeyness of the cheese...it was just such a wonderfully comforting and belly warming meal. I saw a Cinnamon Honey Latte on the board and decided to order that for my drink. These days, I can never tell when the word "Latte" is being used to describe a coffee beverage or whether it's being used to describe a beverage that has milk in it. A Matcha latte for example, tends to just be a sweetedned Matcha beverage with milk in it. No coffee thrown in. I was kinda hoping this Cinnamon Honey Latte would be milk with cinnamon and honey thrown in. It turned out to be a coffee beverage. No complaints about it. It's on me for assuming that it was milk with cinnamon and honey thrown in. I should have probably asked our server about the beverage before simply ordering it. Will make sure to do that if/when we end up here again. Kinda had my eye on the Turkish Apple Tea though so might just order that next time and the whole "Latte" dilemma wouldn't be an issue with that. My daughter's Avocado Toast looked super yummy as well. Might try ordering that next time, although Michelangelo's Mediterranean Spread was also kinda calling out to me!

Stumbled across this place while looking for a simple yet delicious Japanese meal to end my latest Vancouver trip. 93 coffee showed up, which was perfect as it was only a stroll and a half from the downtown waterfront area. The location is thicker away, quiet, and upon first entry, it was obviously that somebody meticulously thought of the concept and took great care in procuring the furniture, fixtures, and set up. The staff was friendly but in a non-rushing feeling-like-a-business type of way. So all the good qualities of your neighborhood cafe with the charm of a Japanese cafe. I ordered a hamburg steak teishoku and my boyfriend ordered the Hamburg steak curry. We were impressed by how the patty was flavorful, meaty, but neither greasy or heavy - signature of how it is in Japan. The curry was flavorful without being overly rich. The side pairings for the teishoku was perfect - a mini salad, side of pickled vegetables, rice, and miso soup. Very well balanced. Overall, super satisfied of this latest find. We need to come back to try some of the dessert offerings.

We got 3 dishes to share: Mushroom Benedict ($18), Bacon Benedict ($19), and Lox Bagel ($18). Overall, they tasted good but I found the carbs/base to be underwhelming. Bagel was rock hard, to the point where we just took the fillings out and ate them separately. The biscuit(?) was alright but tasted like english muffin to me. The hollandaise sauce was one of the better one I tasted though. Beverage wise, my flat white tasted excellent, though my friends said that the drip and Vietnamese coffee were so-so. Ambiance was pretty cozy with eclectic decorations spread throughout. However, and this could be because we were seated at the back, service did seem absent as they seemed to forget about us (we had to chase them down to get the bill). A few of my friends recommended this place but after this visit I can't say that this is one I would return to.
