The staff were super friendly and provided excellent service! Almost everyone at our table ordered the Wolf Burger after hearing my sister and her husband rave about it. When our orders came to the table, we were all PLEASANTLY surprised at how beautifully stacked and dressed our burgers were. A triple stack of patties, topped with cheese, bacon, a fried egg, crispy onions, and housemade pickles?! That's a recipe for delicious success right there! The Wolf Burger was indeed SCRUMPTIOUS! My goodness, I am still thinking about it two whole days later and how I can't wait to revisit this restaurant and try some more of their menu items. An honorable mention goes out to the delicious fries on the side!! They were the perfect cut, well-seasoned, and out-of-this-world. I HIGHLY recommend Little Bad Wolf to all folks looking for a delicious experience! Mustard Seed Kitchen is hands down one of my favorite restaurants on the south side. Although I haven't had the chance to dine in yet, I always order from them on food delivery apps. The food always arrives hot and fresh, which is a huge plus. What I appreciate most about Mustard Seed Kitchen is that they offer a variety of options beyond the typical fried food fare that's so common in this area. They serve up delicious fish dishes and everything I've tried has been absolutely amazing. Plus, their jumbo is top notch. It's hard to believe, but the most popular item on the menu is actually their cornbread. I was surprised at first, since it's just a side dish, but it's seriously some of the best cornbread I've ever had. It's a bit on the sweeter side, which I really enjoy. Long story short, if you haven't tried Mustard Seed Kitchen yet, you're missing out! Give it a try and see for yourself. read more

We were greeted and seated, they brought out some homemade tortilla chips (thicker side, sturdy!) and salsa, which was absolutely delicious. My friend and I decided to get gyros, they were truly delicious, the pita bread grilled nicely, the shaved meat then crispy and caramelized on the flat top, and they ran out of fries so we got home fries- which was also magnificent bc of the onions, seasoning, and butter. I was glad to see they had a cooler with Gatorade zero, so I drank a couple with my meal. Very busy, people coming in for take out and you can tell it's popular with the local groups you would trust when looking at a place to eat- construction workers, hospital employees, random folks. Felt very good about it. Service was great, my regret is not taking a pic of my gyro and home fries because I mowed it down so quickly. Next time I'll go with the chilaquiles!

So ... last minute switch, we decided to try another restaurant that had been featured on Diners Drive Ins and Dives. White Palace Grill. White Palace was also within walking distance from our hotel. The White Palace Grill is definitely old school diner. Open 24 hours a day and really features breakfast all day. We decided to go with sandwiches as that was what we were going to get at Manny's. My wife got the French Dip and I got the Reuben. My meal came with a soup so I chose the Cream of Mushroom soup. I really enjoyed the mushroom soup. At my age I can definitely remember eating Campbell's Cream of Mushroom soup from the can. The White Palace version was better but similar in a very nostalgic way. Probably the highlight of meal for me. My wife's French Dip was OK. Would say the bread wasn't the best. It would have also been better if some horseradish sauce was available. We asked for some horseradish and got delivered some cole slaw instead. Very tasty by the way, but not what we asked for. My Reuben was good, but not great. Probably more of a bread problem. The Russian dressing that was served on the side was the star. I ate the second half of the sandwich without the bread. Good corned beef, probably needed some extra kraut. Bottom line is that we are glad that we visited White Palace Grill. Good old school food, checked another DDD off the list, but there were some misses and compared to most DDDs there wasn't any wow factor.
