The reopening that never comes. The store announced it would reopen on September 21. I showed up on the 21st to find the "21" crossed out in permanent marker on the sign, with "23" scrawled in its place. So I came back on the 23rd. Closed again. The date had now been pushed to September 28. Three promised dates, two blown, and not so much as an apology or an explanation posted for the people who made the trip. I'm planning to check back sometime in early 2027 -- I'm not optimistic. Communication is an afterthought. A Sharpie on a sign is not customer communication. If you're going to publicize an opening date, honor it, or at minimum tell people why you can't and when you realistically will. Customers plan around these things. The hot dogs don't live up to the name. You would think the factory store would be the best place in the city to get a Vienna Beef hot dog. It isn't. What they serve is low quality and frankly doesn't resemble the product Vienna Beef actually makes and sells. I've had better Vienna dogs from neighborhood stands. The service makes it worse. On my visits when the store was actually open, the staff treated customers as an inconvenience. Walking in felt like interrupting them. No warmth, no interest, no sense that they wanted you there. It didn't used to be this way. The other factory store, the one they shut down, had employees who were kind and courteous and made you feel welcome. Closing that location and leaving this one as the flagship customer experience was a real mistake. Vienna Beef makes a great product. The factory store does not represent it well. Until the opening dates mean something and the service and food improve, I'd skip it. read more

It says "Factory Store": It's a great little Vienna hot dog and sandwich stand! The Vienna Factory Store is a bright clean hot dog stand with 6 stools to sit indoors, at least 28 more spots at picnic red metal tables in an enclosed patio (Dec 2025), and for warm months, more seats at outdoor umbrellaed tables. It's decorated in bright red and yellow, and has a menu of various hot dogs, sausages, and sandwiches, plus fries and soft drinks. There's menus on the wall above the counter, and some specials on cards. We got the $12 two-dog special, which we got done-up as Chicago dogs. We sat at the far end across from the counter, on stools at a narrow window-facing bar-like shelf. Of course the Chicago dogs were delicious, with all the right ingredients including brightly-spicy sport peppers and fresh poppyseed buns. The dogs we got looked kind of small, but were quite filling with all the fixings. (They have a "jumbo" dog for $1 more.) The fries were perfect: piping hot, crispy outside, soft inside. Besides hot dogs, there's hot ready-to-eat Italian beef, Polish sausages, corned beef, pastrami, turkey-pastrami, brisket, and burgers! And there are fridges and freezers full of Vienna products from the factory across the street, plus a shelf full of Vienna merch. It had a steady flow of customers around 11am on a Monday, and the friendly efficient staff kept things moving along. It's easy to drive to, about a mile west of the Dan Ryan East Expressway at Pershing. It's a 20min hike from White Sox Comiskey Park (Rate Field). This place is a must-visit destination for any hotdog fan, especially those who want the perfect Chicago Dog! read more

Went here to get a beef sandwich cause was in area and had never tried one. I absolutely loved it. I had it wet and spicy. Gotta say peppers were spicier than i expected but i like spice and would order same again. Store part had a ton commercial sized products and guy in front of us buying gigantic plastic bag of hotdogs. The one on the North Side was basically a showplace before it closed so the store here is the real deal. The factory is right across the street so what you get here gets walked over. The bonus is that it's not only a factory store selling merchandise and goods but they have a stand as well where they have prepared items you can buy as well as a butcher counter. They also have a small section for merch, so basically it's a one stop shop for almost anything Chicago food related. I shopped, first for the grocery items, bought a shirt on impulse and then ordered the hot dog special while I cashed out the items in my shopping basket. I also snagged their last tamale in addition to the dogs I got. I dunno, the tamale was a little bland-maybe it had been steamed too long. Likewise, there was something a little missing about the dogs as well-I think there wasn't enough celery salt on it, which seems like a minor thing but it makes a huge difference. read more

Food is great, fast and has bench seating outside or a pull-up stools at the inside counter/window. What can you say about this place only that it is Chicago through and through.
