Bacon and egg on a croissant
    Martha G.

Definitely recommend this gem. Simple menu but done right. They have bacon, egg, and cheese or sausage, egg and cheese sandwiches on a bagel or croissant. This establishment is run by two brothers and they are generous with the egg to meat ratio. The bagels and croissant they build the sandwiches on are also good. Service is friendly and there's outdoor and indoor seating. Really loved the hot chocolate with the dash of cinnamon they added.

We are visiting from out of town for a wedding, and was looking for a quick breakfast before we get on with the day. First off - there is a clothing shop right next to it. Same name? Owned by the same people. The door is around the corner of the building. Inside is limited space with some seating. Store appears well kept. We ordered and everything came out in a timely fashion and everyone loved what they got. Their croissant was really good! Would recommend to anyone in this area.

Stopped by Cafe Consume to try their breakfast sandwiches on two occasions to try both their croissant bacon and everything bagel sausage sandwich. The eggs here are loaded and folded over thick. Big portions that won't disappoint. You can customize your choice of meat on whichever bread. Happy to report that both choices were delicious. I personally favored the croissant for bread and sausage for meat. The staff here is extremely friendly and made my visit very welcoming and memorable. One particular staff even remembered me on my second visit, and joked that it was a wise choice of me to come earlier as their croissants were sold out by 11am at my first visit. There is free street parking a couple streets down the block in all directions, and an outdoor patio with plenty of seating. Will definitely return for good food and stellar service.

This is actually just for the bagel alone. The Salted bagel might be the best bagel I've had in the city. The sausage and cheese ( I'd pick american cheese next time) is good but what stood out to me was a warm slightly salty bagel perfectly hold its own against the sausage and cheese. I hope they make a Cheddar jalapeno one day and I'd be over the moon. We tried the croissant and it was decent but a little flimsy since it was generously stuffed with bacon. I want to try the coffee but didn't get to this time around

Love this coffee place. I usually get their cafe de miel latte (pictured). The brothers who own this seem to be really passionate about what they do. Their cafe de miel and vanilla bourbon syrups are made in the house! I do need to try their vanilla bourbon latte, as well as their other food to feel confident in my rating. While I've been mostly getting it to go because of their small limited seating inside, they do have a pretty spacious outdoor patio for people to enjoy. The cafe de miel latte, their service and the outdoor patio have been enough to give them four stars!

A truly adorable little coffee shop. I stopped in here when I was out for a walk and wanting a chai latte. The service was friendly and fast at this tiny little cafe. I did get myself a chai latte with oat milk which was excellent. I also learned that they source all of their pastries from a local baker. I got an apple danish and it was fresh and delicious. They have a small indoor seating area and a large outdoor patio.

Excellent bagel sausage, egg, and cheese. In a city of expensive breakfast sandwiches, this one was SO satisfying. Worth every cent. The croissant was delightful and the service was even more so. The small, intimate cafe space was unassuming but chill with great music playing. Worth the trek and highly recommend for any serious Chicago foodie in a constant search for the best croissant in the city.

The staff was friendly and helpful during our first visit; breakfast sandwiches were made to order and a generous serving size. Café con leché was aromatic and heartwarming to taste. Outdoor seating was relaxed with music filling the space. Will definitely be back, sooner rather than later. CJA

Delicious bacon egg and American cheese bagel sandwich! One of the best I've had in Chicago! The iced chai was also good. They have limited indoor seating, but do have wifi if you'd like to work from there.

    Just two chef brothers!

This spot is one of my favorite spot The bagel are super fire !!! The service is great the two brother are great at what they do! Is a very chill spot super clean and always fresh food! My favorite spot for some fire fresh food !

first time coming here. the cashier made me feel very welcomed and let me take my time to view the menu. since i didn't know anything of this place, the cashier made sure to walk me through the menu and offered his choices. i was looking for something strong but still a little sweet, and he recommended me the cold brew with vanilla bourbon bean and a splash of milk. THE BEST COFFEE IVE HAD TO DATE. i'm picky with my iced coffees so this one is def a winner. ima have to come back n try more!

Maybe it's because I'm not typically on my phone when I go to order so I've never heard of this "rule" before. But apparently, they don't serve people if you're "on the phone." In my case, I wasn't just otp, I was on a Zoom meeting. Can't just sign off. It was for work, just wanted a coffee and maybe something to eat before heading to my job. It wasn't a negative experience. Per se. It looked like the owner was pretty chill about it. And I get it---ppl can be rude, I'm sure. Having to take an order while someone is on the phone is annoying. But it's also strange to police people's behavior to that extent. So anyway, I got my coffee and decided against getting food. I'll still probably come back. My fave is their pistachio latte and it's a comfortable, chill spot to write at. They should probably put a sign up about that rule if they haven't already!

Unbelievable negative experience based on how our situation was handled, not because of an order…read moremiscommunication. Context: I ordered a specialty sandwich with a bread substitute and gave my name. The name was misheard and written down incorrectly (and order was not repeated for confirmation). So there was confusion when the order was called out. When I checked on it, I was told by the manager the sandwich can't have substitutes and to either order something else or take the already-made order (that was probably cold at this point). Instead of acknowledging there was a misunderstanding, it seemed the blame was shifted on us and that we were SUPPOSED to know they can't substitute when we initially ordered, even though we weren't informed of this by the barista. We felt the manager approached us with a more accusatory tone than necessary, so we requested a refund. Instead of refunding my card, he returned with a gift card for the value of the sandwich. We were confused because this had not been what we asked for. And then he went on to inform us that he had reviewed security camera footage and had confirmed via the footage that there was "no mention" of the bread substitution (even though he admitted there was no audio recording). He stated he needed to side with his employee even though we repeatedly told him we understand that miscommunications can happen. We didn't expect him to throw his employee under the bus or "choose sides" but we expected him to handle the situation more professionally. His handling felt unnecessary, dismissive, and confrontational. The focus should have been on resolution NOT investigation. He was especially dismissive to my girlfriend who voiced the concerns initially because she wasn't the one who paid for the order directly. We were both rightfully upset so it felt rude for him to shut her down. Mistakes happen in any restaurant. What shouldn't happen is making a customer feel as though they are being blamed or told their account of events isn't credible (which he consistently did). A straightforward acknowledgement, refund, and moving on would have resolved everything. Instead, the situation was escalated and handled in a way that felt defensive and unprofessional. Ultimately, we received a cash refund, but unfortunately, this left a far worse impression than the original mix-up, especially for a cafe that has "Community" in its name. ‍

The rest doesn't really have table space. The ube latte was good. The ube was potatoey, not the fake purple vanilla. It didn't settle out. And the espresso could still shine through. The pourover was also smooth and came out the perfect warm and drinkable temperature. The paper cup started to get a bit soft but it never leaked. I do drink very slowly though. The chicken Bao filling was unexpected. It was very soft/mushy texture of finely minced or ground meat if it was raw but it was fully cooked. The flavor was great though. The atmosphere felt modern, calm, and thoughtfully designed, and the barista was friendly and welcoming. I tried both the matcha and the Spanish latte. The Spanish latte was the clear standout - smooth, strong, beautifully balanced, and not overly sweet. The latte art was a nice touch, and I would definitely recommend ordering it. The matcha was decent, though I personally found the flavor a bit diluted and wished it had a stronger matcha presence. Overall, this is a very solid neighborhood coffee shop and one I'd happily return to. It's also the perfect pairing with Fat Peach Bakery just down the street - together they make for a breakfast-of-champions kind of morning.

They also have a patio, and with the weather being nice, it was easy to just sit outside and relax for a while. I was honestly too hungry to spend much time deciding, so I just ordered one of the sourdough donut ball. It was exactly what I was hoping for. The outside had a light coating of sugar that gave it just the right amount of sweetness without being too much. Once I bit into it, the inside was soft, airy, and slightly chewy from the sourdough, which made it different from a regular donut. There was a subtle tang from the sourdough that balanced the sweetness really well, so it never felt overly sugary. It had a light crispness on the outside, then a warm, pillowy center that practically melted away with each bite. I finished it way faster than I expected. The only thing I forgot was ordering something to drink with it. Looking back, a good coffee would've made it even better. Still, I'd definitely stop by again the next time I'm in the area.

Set in an old warehouse that is now an art gallery event space and restaurant nestled in an older warehouse district in Bridgeport neighborhood of Chicago. Beautiful decor and laid out perfectly. The wide spacing between tables makes for a comfortable dining experience. So many folks come in to do their work and dine here. What a super addition to the neighborhood that less than a decade ago was essentially a street that was more a run down semi-truck alley. Great menu with neighborhood favorites leaning toward the old school Italian dishes. Sandwiches, soups, salads, and breakfasts just to name a few are all excellent. The pastries are insane and a must take home deal. I love the American Breakfast. Three eggs your way, thick diced America potatoes, thick cut bacon, and sourdough toast. Accompanied by what I believe to be home made jelly and for sure homemade gardiniera. Caruso's gardiniera actually. Diced into a relish unlike most standard gardiniera it's easier to eat with many dishes. Excellent flavor and just the right kick to it. FYI Dolce Arte also sells a to go line of homemade Caruso products from their gardiniera to past and past sauces and more. Yes, their coffee is really good too. Lavazza products I believe. The service is always on point. Casual but on point. Very friendly staff from diverse backgrounds.
