Stopped by Cafe Consume to try their breakfast sandwiches on two occasions to try both their croissant bacon and everything bagel sausage sandwich. The eggs here are loaded and folded over thick. Big portions that won't disappoint. You can customize your choice of meat on whichever bread. Happy to report that both choices were delicious. I personally favored the croissant for bread and sausage for meat. The staff here is extremely friendly and made my visit very welcoming and memorable. One particular staff even remembered me on my second visit, and joked that it was a wise choice of me to come earlier as their croissants were sold out by 11am at my first visit. There is free street parking a couple streets down the block in all directions, and an outdoor patio with plenty of seating. Will definitely return for good food and stellar service.

This is actually just for the bagel alone. The Salted bagel might be the best bagel I've had in the city. The sausage and cheese ( I'd pick american cheese next time) is good but what stood out to me was a warm slightly salty bagel perfectly hold its own against the sausage and cheese. I hope they make a Cheddar jalapeno one day and I'd be over the moon. We tried the croissant and it was decent but a little flimsy since it was generously stuffed with bacon. I want to try the coffee but didn't get to this time around

Love this coffee place. I usually get their cafe de miel latte (pictured). The brothers who own this seem to be really passionate about what they do. Their cafe de miel and vanilla bourbon syrups are made in the house! I do need to try their vanilla bourbon latte, as well as their other food to feel confident in my rating. While I've been mostly getting it to go because of their small limited seating inside, they do have a pretty spacious outdoor patio for people to enjoy. The cafe de miel latte, their service and the outdoor patio have been enough to give them four stars!

A truly adorable little coffee shop. I stopped in here when I was out for a walk and wanting a chai latte. The service was friendly and fast at this tiny little cafe. I did get myself a chai latte with oat milk which was excellent. I also learned that they source all of their pastries from a local baker. I got an apple danish and it was fresh and delicious. They have a small indoor seating area and a large outdoor patio.

Excellent bagel sausage, egg, and cheese. In a city of expensive breakfast sandwiches, this one was SO satisfying. Worth every cent. The croissant was delightful and the service was even more so. The small, intimate cafe space was unassuming but chill with great music playing. Worth the trek and highly recommend for any serious Chicago foodie in a constant search for the best croissant in the city.

The staff was friendly and helpful during our first visit; breakfast sandwiches were made to order and a generous serving size. Café con leché was aromatic and heartwarming to taste. Outdoor seating was relaxed with music filling the space. Will definitely be back, sooner rather than later. CJA

Delicious bacon egg and American cheese bagel sandwich! One of the best I've had in Chicago! The iced chai was also good. They have limited indoor seating, but do have wifi if you'd like to work from there.

first time coming here. the cashier made me feel very welcomed and let me take my time to view the menu. since i didn't know anything of this place, the cashier made sure to walk me through the menu and offered his choices. i was looking for something strong but still a little sweet, and he recommended me the cold brew with vanilla bourbon bean and a splash of milk. THE BEST COFFEE IVE HAD TO DATE. i'm picky with my iced coffees so this one is def a winner. ima have to come back n try more!

The jibarito was nice and crunchy and the steak was seasoned just right. The Cubano was great! Im always afraid to order it because ive had one taste like too much pork. This one did not taste too porky at all. To drink, we had a passion fruit juice and a watermelon juice. They were both so fresh! The passion fruit juice was just as sweet as you thought it would be. The staff was so friendly and they make sure you have what you need to enjoy your food.

I think that the term "hidden gem" is often over used. However, there are still some places where…read morethe term definitely applies. Dulce Cafe Cubano is most certainly one of them. This is a small sandwich shop on Chicago's southside making some amazing food. First, the food I excellent. I tried the jibarito, medianoche (similar to a cubano, but with an egg) and the tripleta. I liked all them, but my favorite was the tripleta. I loved that all of the flavors of the meats seemed to work together. Also do not skip out on their pastries and drinks. I especially recommend the frappe. Second their food is a great value. I believe that none of their sandwiches are more than $11, with many of their less than $10, and I think, most of, if not all, of their drinks are less than $5. You get a good bang for your buck here. Third, the staff is friendly and service is fast. You order at a window and wait for your food to be ready. I felt that my food was ready super fast and it was very fresh. In sum, this is a must visit hidden gem.

This southside coffee shops offered a variety of drinks (caffeinated/ non-caffeinated option) but…read morethe best part in my option is their flights. Why would you not order a flight to try a variety of drinks all at once? We had the hibiscus lemonade and matcha flight, the mango con crema and banana con crema were the standouts. We went on a weekend and there was a long line but it moved pretty quickly. Limited seating space but there are also chairs and tables on the outside. Street parking available. They also offer brunch food items which we did not get to try. But overall cute shop with a variety of speciality drinks that I will definitely try in the future.

Stockyard Coffee House in Chicago, Illinois. Overall, I really liked it. The only small downside…read morewas that it felt a bit warm inside, probably because it was already a hot day outside. The staff--at least the person who helped me--didn't feel super welcoming. Not that they were rude, just not particularly warm either. I get it though, because even I get a little irritable when it's hot, so maybe that played a part. What I love the most is that it's Latina-owned, and that's something I truly admire. I always try to support Latino entrepreneurs when they're doing things right, and this place is definitely doing something creative. We ordered two flights--one with coffee and one with matcha. Each flight comes with four small samples, and they were all seasonal fall flavors, which I thought was such a fun and unique idea. It's cool because you get to try different drinks in little cups, almost like a tasting experience. The coffee flight (we got it iced) was amazing--the flavors were bold and had that strong coffee taste I personally love. The matcha flight was also fun, but I would have preferred a stronger matcha flavor in some of them. They also have plenty of milk options--we ordered ours with oat milk and it was delicious. On top of that, they have a pretty wide food menu with bagels, sandwiches, wraps, and more. We tried the tuna sandwich and it was really good, definitely worth recommending. The café has little chairs outside, the vibe inside is cozy, and I loved that they were playing Spanish music. That's something you don't usually find in most coffee shops here, and it gave the place extra personality. The only thing I'm still unsure about is the price. For two flights (coffee + matcha) and the sandwich, the total was around $55. Maybe that's a bit expensive--or maybe it's just the nature of ordering flights, since I had never tried that before. Either way, it was worth it for the experience and the flavors. In short, it's a cute, cozy, and creative spot that's definitely worth checking out--especially if you're into seasonal flavors, want to try something unique, and love supporting Latina-owned businesses in Chicago.

There was a bakery at this location when I was growing up in the neighborhood back in the 50-60's…read more I can't remember the name right now, but it was sad day when it closed. I am not sure how long it has been Famosa Bakery. I know I've been here at least once in the past 20 years, but I guess I wasn't so impressed as to come back. I decided to give it another try after reading the other two Yelp reviews. The bakery has a "vintage" (aka old) look to it. What I do like about it, however, is that the bakery items are "protected" by glass doors. Another bakery in the area has their cookies and pastries on open tables /shelves were you help yourself. You also help yourself here, but at least the bakery goods aren't out in the open. A couple of weeks ago I stopped in and bought a bear claw and a Mexican cakey-cookie (?). It only cost $1.23 for both items! Joslyn (not sure if I am spelling name correctly) was the clerk and she was very nice. I learned they also sell coffee. Unfortunately, both items were somewhat stale. Since it was only $1.23, I thought perhaps I bought them from a discounted day (or more) old section. I decided I would give them another try before writing this review. I stopped by again today. There was a different clerk, but she was nice also. I was looking at the doughnuts and she assured me they were fresh, so I decided to purchase one. It was 61¢. Not only was the doughnut fresh, it tasted really good. It was far better than any doughnut that I have gotten from Dunkin Donuts--l haven't gotten a fresh doughnut from them in about 25 years. And that is at any Dunkin Donuts. The only problem today was that I wish I would have been brave enough to buy more than one doughnut! It was really good. I will be back and hopefully will be bumping up the rating another star soon.
