Order the classic 3 item combo of a shredded beef, taco cheese, enchilada, and tamale. I wasn't able to eat more than a few bites of each item as it tasted off and not good. Sadly we had a party of 9 and only 1 person out of our group enjoyed their meal. If the food wasn't enough my 6 year old daughter had to pee so I took her into the men's bathroom to the stall and someone had dedicated all over the seat. If I hadn't have already lost my appetite from the taste of the food it was now definitely gone. Me and my significant other went here tonight for dinner it's our second time going and may I say it is delicious we were greeted and got to option to sit outside which we did beautiful outside area. We started off with chips and salsa it's so fresh, the the salsa cheese dip it's so delicious! I got the Bistek Picado which was delicious and so savory with tortillas with it and my significant other got Pescado Ala Plancha and he just loved it they made sure to always check in on us were supper helpful and for dessert we got Flan I tried it for the first time the taste was so good! After the long 2 months of staying in and now that restaurants are opening back up. The fiancé and I were in need for a date night and we decided on Murrietas since it was close by and wanted something different from our usual Mexican spot at La Fuente. When we got there it was actually a little busy and the wait was supposed to be 20 minutes but we went to the bar , got our drinks, and they called us up pretty quickly. The micheladas here are pretty good ( we got it with Modelos) and served in a huge glass , which is great! I ended up getting 2 because they were that good! We were seated outside kind of near the doors which was fine because it was quiet and peaceful where we were sitting. As far as the food goes: DELICIOUS! I found the food to be really flavorful, great portions, and really filling. We ordered a side of the mango salsa and calamari and the calamari was seriously delicious. I also like the fact that it was in strips so it was easier to eat and dip into the sauces. For the main dishes my fiancé ordered the carnitas rancheras and I ordered the Baja fish tacos. I had a taste of my fiancés food and the meat was so tender and flavorful. The fish tacos were delicious also , it was crispy and had some kind of coleslaw/cilantro sauce on it but either way it was so good! I also wanted to say their rice was really good also, i find some Mexican restaurants rice can be really bland on flavor , but this place really knew how to make their dishes very good in flavor and i ended up really liking the rice from here. One of my all time favorites. Had my first drink here when I turned 21, had them cater to our holiday parties, frequently enjoy the 2-for-1 house margarita deal... I guess you can say we're regulars here and always welcomed with a hug or smiling faces! This is one of the first restaurant my family and I went to after quarantine and it sure was missed! There's something for everyone in their menu and lots of items that are unique from other Mexican places in the area. They're authentic in not only their food but in their hospitality! Honestly I don't think I've ever seen a new person working there and that speaks volumes of the love, respect and dedication these guys put into their everyday life. We have come here twice in the past week as their homemade chips and salsa are so good! The first to-go order we had carne asada combo meal and also carne asada tacos. The second time we had a chicken burrito combo and two chicken tostados. Both times with a side of their large guacamole, salsa and chips. Their over the phone service has been friendly, as are the workers who dropped off our food to us, curbside. Their portion are very generous and make two meals for me. If you are looking for some good Mexican food and also support a local business during this pandemic, you should give this place a try! read more

During this pandemic, we've been to Murrietta's in Sparks 4 times (once take out and 3 dine in). They're very close to us and with Miguel as our server almost always (he spoils us and goes above and beyond) we don't usually leave this place other than happy. If I have anything to say about them is that I know what I get. The food is great and most items we order are authentic. Their service is consistent, friendly and just right. We see regulars here almost every time and I think we are part of the regular's club and it's a good sign of their service, people come back. The 4 star rating is given because they aren't perfect. On our take out order, they forgot the tortillas for my fajitas and on one of our 3 dine in sessions, they took an hour to get us our food (cook called in sick or something). However, the food is always great and though they missed an item and had a cook out during a health pandemic, it does not take away from them at all. The fotos include some of the recent items I've had, a 7 mares caldo which was omg finger licking good! The pescado frito was a little over fried but cooked with grilled onions and chiles that helped liven the situation and the menudo was just like my mom's so I got the home feel I was looking for. read more

It's one of my favorite places to go to for a guaranteed great meal. I've never had a bad meal here, and customer service is always the best. A few times, my server noticed that everyone in my party was giving me their pinwheel chips, and he brought out me a bag full of them to take home. Tonight, I had the pozole. Adding to my wife's weekly dose of Mexican food, we came here a little before 4:30pm on a Saturday. We decided to try this place because we were in the area and had a coupon for buy one entree, get the second entree half off. It was not very busy, there were about 3 other tables occupied. We were seated right away and offered a booth which we took. It looks like they have a full bar just off the dining room as well an outside patio area. The bar has several TV's which looked like they were playing college football. We were brought chips and salsa. One salsa is similar to pico de gallo. The other salsa was similar to a chili colorado sauce. After what felt like a long time, someone came to take our orders. My wife ordered the chicken chimichanga and I ordered the chili verde with flour tortillas. We continued to munch on the chips and salsa until our food arrived. Both meals looked great and tasted delicious - we both enjoyed them a lot. The chili verde pork was very tender and did not seem fatty like we have experienced elsewhere. The chicken chimichanga was absolutely stuffed with shredded chicken. The place was starting to fill up as we were leaving. Other than the long wait time when we were originally seated we were happy with our experience. We will have to try their south Reno location as well! read more

Very delicious! I had the chili verde and would 10/10 recommend. The man had carnitas rancheros. It was 100% amazing right up to the last bite when he ate his last bite and caught the hottest pepper. Thankfully, we had some delicious guacamole to help calm the fire in his mouth. I loved the Cadillac margarita! Would eat here again next time we are in Sparks, NV! We'd been at a bar earlier today and asked for a great Mexican place for dinner. The local guy we talked to highly recommended this place. It was off the beaten track and out of the way for us but it was worth the little adventure. The hostess was attentive and seated us in outside seating right away. Our server was quick and attentive. I have been to this restaurant twice and have been served sub par food and worst service. I believe this restaurant doesn't like serving black people at all. I was asked if I needed anything else and the server walked away before I could answer. I will never go back here, and we still tipped him. The server also asked my wife what kind of of tamales she wanted. She kept saying chicken and he insisted beef 4 times after my wife said chicken. Yes there is a language barrier but he clearly heard her. Our experience was extremely rude. And the food was mediocre for the price. We will never come back to this restaurant. my new favorite Mexican place in Reno If you feellike Mexican food. I don't like onions so it was nice to go somewhere that they didn't put onions and everything. They have black bean option with your meal which I love. I had the chimichanga and it was amazing the chicken was not dry it was good and juicy. I normally don't like Spanish rice, because it's heartburn Central for me. But this Mexican rice was pretty mild and good. I would come here again and have saved it in my favorite places. I know everyone's got it slightly different taste chicken food so I'm hard to say if you'll like this style or not, but I feel that it's pretty much a wide base It's got flavor but not too crazy spicy. I also can't stand bland Mexican food. Murrieta's it's that sweet spot because they use flavor and quality ingredients You can tell. The atmosphere is always nice and even if the server's backed up there's still kind and courteous. The food here is always good! I didnt order a meal because i had a late lunch with a friend. I ended up with an appetizer to go along with the delicious maggy on the rocks with ice. Damn, i could easily drink an entire pitcher of those. I ordered the Anaheim chili popper. Wow! Its exactly what you think it would be, with a nice, mild green sauce and a sea of delicious melted cheese. No, you wont need ranch for this bad boy, although if you wanted it im sure the staff would gladly get it for you. Thats the other thing about this place. Murrietta's is the place we go to most often when craving Mexican food! I feel bad because I haven't reviewed it before now! I like to order a la carte mainly because I'm not a big fan of rice and beans and they have a section of menu that is conducive to this, but lately I've also been ordering regular menu items that include rice and beans. Everything that I've had here is good! Last time I tried the shredded beef flautas in flour tortillas and they were delicious! The staff is kind of difficult to get to know, but they are friendly and you can usually have a good chat with the bussers if not the wait staff. The kitchen is efficient and gets the food out quickly! If you haven't given Murrietta's a try you owe it to yourself to do so! read more

Murrieta's is tucked into a shopping center, but it absolutely should not be missed. We stopped in here for dinner on my final night in Reno/Sparks and it was one of my favorite meals. After being quickly seated, we were greeted by waters and warm chips and salsa. The chips and salsa were obviously made in-house. The chips were perfectly crispy and salted. We were presented with two salsa options: a pico de gallo and a spicier blended salsa. I preferred the blended salsa, but both were great. Our table all had the classic margarita on the rocks and they were enjoyed all-around. I liked the margarita mix a lot, it was perfectly tangy and calmed the strong flavor of the tequila. As for my meal, I had the two cheese enchilada plate. I typically prefer green enchilada sauces, but I really liked their red sauce. It liberally topped the enchiladas and I enjoyed it thoroughly. I also appreciated how stuffed with cheese the enchiladas were. The rice and beans were also very good and topped with cheese. I personally cannot have enough cheese. In all, I thought Murrieta's was delicious and I look forward to returning on my next trip to Sparks. read more

So very disappointed tonight! Went to dinner for my birthday with a friend, food was good however service was poor. They took our order fast but took a long time to get our drinks and food. I could do without the price increase for a simple order of pico going from $10.00 to $12.00. Seems kind of extreme for some chopped up tomatoes, onions and cilantro. I guess time makes prices go up everywhere but when a simple side dish costs more than your entree I question it. The food is still great - don't get me wrong and the owner/manager is awesome. The front cashier girl today could have smiled at least once....(maybe she just bought some pico and was mad about the price too?) It won't stop us from going back but it will stop us from ordering any extra pico. Bummer. read more
