chile relleno, Chile Colorado, Chile Verde
Raymond L.

A pretty good mexican restaurant with wonderful service, Very consistent food. I ordered the chile relleno, pork tamale and chile colorado. I really liked their chile relleno, they use a different chile than what I'm familiar with, I like that it does not have a lot of seeds that is encountered by other restaurants. The chile colorado is different but quite good, I'm used to a spicier chile colorado sauce. Overall a very consistent food restaurant for mexican food.

Los Compadres is one of those solid local spots you can always count on. The ambiance is warm and welcoming--perfect for a casual dinner or happy hour with friends. Food quality is consistently good every visit, which is honestly underrated these days, and the service is always prompt and attentive without being overbearing. Happy hour from 3-6pm is a great bonus with solid specials that make it easy to linger a little longer. If you're looking for a dependable, laid-back place with good food and a great vibe, Los Compadres delivers every time.

Very disappointing! We have been here before and it was ok. Decided to give another try. I wanted something off kids menu as I wasn't that hungry and with chips and all it would have been the right amount, but Helen our waitress would let me order what I really wanted. So I opted for a #9 (taco with rice and beans. Asked what the charge for fish in taco would be and she said 1.50. I said ok. There was a nice amount of fish in taco but she'll want super crispy (half crispy half soggy. ) definitely have had way better fish tacos before from other places. When we got the bill, the up charge was actually three dollars. Normally, that is not a big deal to me, but I think it was like her attitude and lack of friendliness as a waitress. Overall, I definitely like the place we go to down the street better so I think I will stick with our regular Mexican restaurant on Longley Lane.

Chile relleno and carne asada taco combo plate, along with house margaritas!

Came here on a Friday evening and had the best time at a restaurant In a long time. Sat outside and it was completely gorgeous. Our server was so nice and made our evening spectacular. I enjoyed my carne asada and chili relleno combo plate. The margaritas were spot on. I tried a family members carnitas and that is what I am ordering next time. Really yummy with the fresh tortillas. Highly recommend coming to dine outside during the fall evening.

This place is always busy pretty much saying people come here again and again for the delicious, authentic Mexican food. The combination plate is a great way to try three different main dishes accompanied by beans and rice. I had the chile relleno, which was a large chile covered with a fluffy egg and cheese batter, prepared perfectly. Also, I had the chicken enchilada which was plentiful, tasty and fresh. The chile Colorado was served in its own bowl alongside the huge main plate. That tells you how much food was included in the combo plate!! The service was professional, proficient and friendly. The drinks were quite impressive with our table having margaritas of different natures, beers and wines. The ambiance is family friendly, comfortable and colorful. I will become a regular here, for sure!

My favorite spot to get margaritas in Northern NV! From the food, staff, and drinks everything is great at this location. I've come to this spot year after year and I always leave very happy and extremely full. The staff is very welcoming from the moment you walk in the door. They always keep this place very clean and they make sure they have cumbia or some great Mexican music playing to set the vibe. I usually order the chimichanga or in this picture I just got their street tacos with steak. Absolutely delicious. Funny enough this restaurant has some of the best french fries in Reno IMO. They are a must try!!! If you're in near South Reno and want a great place for drinks and dinner this is a must.

I had lunch here today with my friend. Los Compradres is located in the SouthCreek shopping center. My friend and I were immediately seated in a comfy booth. We were served chips and a blended salsa that wasn't too spicy but just had a little kick. I ordered from the lunch menu. I chose a shredded beef enchilada with rice and beans. I was served a generous portion of food for the price. The beef in the enchilada was tender and juicy with just the right amount of enchilada sauce. The rice and beans complemented the enchilada. Our service was fantastic! Thank you!

Ever have a day that seems like it's going great and then BAM it's sideways? That was me today. And what did I need to make it better??? Margaritas and tacos. Headed on over to Los Compadres to see if this elixir would do the trick. Quickly was seated (happy to find it is Happy hour 3-6 M-Th) and ordered my Marg $8 HH special. Decided on a chicken taco salad and Hubs had the carnitas plate. Both were fantastic and while food and bevs can't fix everything-it is always worth a try. Los Compadres is located in a strip mall and has the typical Mexican restaurant decor-flags/hats/fiesta atmosphere. How can you not smile?

Service is consistently great at this place. Multiple people ask if we need another refill, more chips, etc., but not to the point of being annoying. I love the chips and salsa here. The salsa is puréed and has a tad bit of spice to it. Margaritas are good, not too sweet and come out quick! We love to sit on the patio when it is nice out!

This is the first time we've been back to Los Compadres after a pretty bad meal, so we were eager to see if the food improved. Having dinner with friends on a Friday night, the place was predictably hopping but we were still seated pretty quickly. Our waitress was nice and polite and took care of us in spite of the quickly filling restaurant. The chips at Los Compadres are legit. Crispy and flavorful, it was disappointing that the accompanying salsa were so bland and completely lacking of flavor. I ordered the Menudo, surprised they served it on a weekday. The waitress asked if I wanted the "Pata" and I said sure. What a huge mistake. While the Menudo was actually quite good, but there was little actual Tripe and Hominy. What I had was a pile of Pata bones and not much else. What a waste of a potentially good dish. My dish was served with corn tortillas, which would typically be warmed in a steamer, leaving them warm, soft and hot. Not sure what happened to these but they were dry, hard and basically inedible. My wife ordered the Carne Asada. Her dish looked amazing but upon closer inspection, it was clearly under the heating lamps too long as the beans were a solid chunk of something and the rice was dry and formed into blocks of inedible decorations. Her steak was over cooked and her serving was 1/3 fat. If I thought the corn tortillas were bad, that was nothing compared to my wife's flour tortillas. They were dry and heat formed into a rolled block of concrete. These WERE completely inedible. If it were not for our friends, that recommended Los Compadres, we would have sent the food back, but instead we enjoyed our company and warmed up some left overs we had at the house. So disappointing. No bueno Los Compadres no bueno.

All the margaritas on happy hour were great. I also tried the Toro Bravo (watermelon), Chapo Lo-era (prickly pear) and El Malo (Mezcal). We got the papas bravas to start since all employees recommended it them. They were not spicy but very delicious. The sauce on them was a smoked jalapeño aioli. The guacamole was good too and very shareable sizes. We then shared the quesabirrias, vegan ceviche and the prime asada tostaditas. Hands down the best choice was the quesabirria. We even ordered another round. Everything is about $9 on the menu which is well worth the quality and portions. The restaurant is very cute with views of the river. Great vibes! The staff was very attentive and nice. I plan on coming back for more happy hours.

Everything met or exceeded my expectations. The standout dishes for me were the chorizo requesón, cilantro rice, short ribs, and pork shank--each was flavorful and well-executed. The guacamole and tostada were solid and had the classic flavors you'd expect. My toddler especially loved the cilantro rice, tortilla chips, chorizo requesón, and short ribs, which was a big win. The staff were attentive, friendly, and very accommodating. We originally asked to sit outside, but when it got windy, they quickly moved us inside without any hassle. The restaurant also offers open outdoor seating, which is a nice option if you want to enjoy the view on a calmer day.

Upon walking in,I was impressed with the patrons, this was a no frills crowd who looked like they were all in on a secret that this place was going to be a really good foodie spot. This is one of those spots where u walk up and order at the counter and they bring your food out to you.I loved the decor as you can really tell the owners are proud of their Jalisco roots. As an added bonus-I do tend to like taquerias that have pics of the menu items on the walls-always been a good luck charm for me that the place would be pretty good. We ordered a few things-A Super Burrito with Al Pastor($13.50)-it was pretty tasty-way way filling-killed my buzz totally-which I guess was the goal-I'd order it again for sure.We Also got a Shrimp taco($5)My wife is from Jalisco,so kinda picky with her Mexican food but she thought it was pretty tasty-one of the most flavorful tacos she has had in a long time.We also got the 2 enchilada plate with ground beef and chicken($15.50)-This dish came with rice and bean-I really liked the rice quite a bit and beans went well with the chips because of the added cheese on the beans. One thing I didn't love was the fact that you had to pay for chips and salsa-I'm sure I'm just spoiled from all the places that gives those out for free but I guess that's the way it goes-pretty sure it was like $3-no biggie. In closing-if u ever find yourself in Reno and u want something other than the commercial stuff they sell in the casinos-I would highly recommend walking across the street from Silver Legacy and walk into this little hole in the wall hidden gem of a restaurant and enjoy yourself a taste of Jalisco -you won't be disappointed.

Los Gallos covered those two needs perfectly. Located on the main ave across from Circus Circus. Kinda cool pawn shops too but didn't have time to check them out. Walking in, it def has the authentic dinginess that is usually synonymous with authentic tasting food. Lots of handmade signs and pictures of food on the walls. And also lots of pictures from their hometown. It was a Monday afternoon and there were many local Mexican families eating there which is another great sign. Ordering was pretty easy. After doing me best To order in Spanish I realized the lady working there spoke perfect English. Haha. I ordered a shrimp burrito with everything and 3 street tacos all to go. It took a long time for the food to come out. There was a large party order that they were getting ready so I waited a long time. It was so long that I expected them to offer me a free coffee or soda but they didn't. The food finally came and it was a solid 4. The shrimp burrito was tasty and the shrimp was cooked really well. The tacos were good too. I'll def be back next time I'm in Reno.

The bread arrives with that perfect crusty exterior and airy interior that holds up beautifully once it's "drowned" in the vibrant, slightly spicy tomato-chile sauce. The pork inside is tender and flavorful, and the balance of acidity, heat, and richness feels fresh rather than heavy. It tastes remarkably close to what you'd find in Jalisco, which makes it feel genuinely authentic rather than a watered-down version for tourists. We also got tacos dorados de papa and those were pretty amazing too. The micheladas and chavelas are just as impressive. They're crisp, well-seasoned, and perfectly chilled, with just the right amount of lime, spice, and salt on the rim. They pair incredibly well with the tortas and make the whole meal feel even more special. On top of the food and drinks, the service really elevates the experience. The staff is attentive, friendly, and clearly proud of what they serve, checking in just enough without hovering. Overall, it's a spot that delivers on flavor, authenticity, and hospitality, making it a standout choice for anyone craving great Mexican comfort food. Will definitely be coming back.

In fact, because I was still hungry I had room for their homemade Flan. I asked for extra sauce if possible. I was very pleased. There are many varieties of flan. I personally prefer a more textured variety that I refer to as Rustic. I would call this variety a very traditional SMOOTH variety. The flavor is wonderful. It was delicious.
