We ordered food for curbside pick-up. I forget to mention their 1/2 off ad when I ordered, but when I called backed I was told since I paid already they couldn't honor it. That was strike one. My husband arrived within 15 minutes and was made to wait another 10 before they brought out the food. When he brought it home 5 min later, almost the entire order was cold. One of the orders with beans had cheese that didn't even melt probably because the beans were placed in the container cold. Strike 2. We then realized one of our items was missing from the order. My husband had to drive back where then they made him wait. 5 Minutes later & still no food, he called them and 5 min later they finally brought him the item with a very weak apology. Strike 3. If you are looking for quality civeche, this is the best place to go! Everything else is pretty mediocre. They have a fairly large variety of menu items to choose from but none of them are exceptional. I ordered the chicken fajitas - which are almost always promising - but was disappointed. The chicken was dry and the vegetables were way over-cooked. My family also wasn't impressed with their entrees. The service was slow and this really isn't an ideal place to go for Mexican food in my opinion. read more

What is it with these places?‍ We try to show up for happy hour and since there is no room in the very small bar area we sit at the patio. Guess what, happy hour doesn't apply in the patio area! Murrietas is my favorite Mexican restaurant. That being said, this location lately leaves much to be desired. There is always a long wait. Tonight was the worst though. There was a wait, but the service was also awful. I know it's tough when restaurants are busy, but our server was downright rude. She acted as if we were putting her out when we would finally flag her down to ask her for a refill on something. She never checked on us once. When she would bring what we asked for, we would say "thank you" and she didn't even respond. It's been a while since I've had really bad service, and I am so bummed it was at my favorite place. Food is decent. We come here often or should I say, used to come often. After our last experience we won't be back. We ordered our meals and took advantage of the two for one margaritas. Everything went well, finished our meal, etc. Then we get our check and present the waiter/manager with a coupon. (One of those you get from a kid to help schools.) He tells us we can't use it because we did the two for one margaritas. I said isn't that a separate weekly deal from the food? He says you can't use both in a non professional, unfriendly way. It was 530 on a Monday evening. A few tables were filled and the service was prompt. Warm and fresh tortilla chips are free. You get the usual Pico and a Medium red salsa. It's tasty but try their hotter salsa (yellowish orange) with the KICK. The food finally arrived (a little longer than usual wait). I ordered the 3 Pambasos with Chicharrones (Crispy Pork) combo plate. All I can say is yum. The red fried bread is split in half and filled with the salted crispy pork, onions and cilantro. We've been to this particular location about 3 times and each time the food is not bad but not wow status either. This most recent visit I had the chicken flautas and they were good but alittle dry inside. Most combo plates here come with beans and rice which are good also and medium sized portions. So if you have ever seen my Mexican food reviews you know I am pretty picky. Well we stopped by here and we really liked it. I got the standard tacos because I don't usually trust the other stuff on the menu. So the tacos were standard tacos and were pretty good. The beans were really good and the rice was yummy. The salsa looked like tomato sauce but had a nice heat to it. It reminded me of some chile you get in New Mexico. I tasted the red chile sauce on my husbands plate and it was good not hot but good flavor. I would ask for my burrito or enchilada smothered in the salsa. I had the Murrietas margarita and after one I felt a little tipsy! So it was good in my book! We will go again for sure. read more

My wife and I used to love this place, but lately it has gone downhill. We live up the hill from the Sparks one , so it's close and easy for the lazy nights I don't want to cook. We have received our food without meat TWICE now. Their fix? Here's some meat in a bag. I can cook my own Mexican food if I wanted too, but when I order it out I naturally expect my order to be correct because I am PAYING for it. I have given place 4-5 chances got better for one time then it's back to same terrible service. They act like they are doing you a favor during happy hour. Chips have come out that smell and taste like old oil, entire room sent chips back and our waitress looked totally in shock that we wouldn't eat them. Place is filthy!! Murrieta's has been one of my go-to Mexican restaurants for a long time because of their expansive menu that they constantly update, and their unique offerings. I love all of the more traditional options that you wouldn't normally find in an American Mexican restaurant. The quality of the food is always spot on with every item I've ever tried being absolutely delicious. But their menu is a little on the pricier side for Mexican cuisine. The customer service is also a little hit or miss for me. Sometimes I get amazing service where they go above and beyond to accommodate me and my menu selections, sometimes even with substitutions. But other times I get a lackluster attitude toward service and a general unhappiness to be there. When you receive the former, it makes this one on the perfect places to enjoy margaritas (strong ones) with your friends and fill up on delicious pico de Gallo before indulging in one of their massive entrees. read more
