This is another great bagel place. So good that I even had it catered at work for bagel Wednesdays. The variations of cream cheeses are great. My favorite combination is thin tomatoes, with onions and plain cream cheese or scallion cream cheese on an everything or pumpernickel bagel. Either way it's A1 good. There are three things most people consider: quality of the food, service, and price. It took A FULL HOUR to get my order (everything bagel with tuna salad and an egg wrap). I don't mind waiting especially on a Saturday, but I watched them prepare my tuna and wrap, which sat on the disorganized counter for 25 minutes before they called my number. The guy giving out orders was extremely rude, telling customers "can't you see I'm busy" and ignoring others. The bagel and egg wrap I received were obviously cold and hard having sat there. In terms of the bagel alone, this is my new favorite in NYC! My bagel was high quality, slightly moist, and perfectly cooked. While the bagel is incredible, I found the breakfast sandwich to be average by New York standards- the egg was slightly dry and I wish there was more cheese. My friend and I were in the area, and we wanted to get bagels so we went here. The line was really long so it took a while to order, which worked in my favor because I am indecisive. The person taking my order was really nice and didn't make me rushed despite the long line, which I appreciated. But it took a while for my bagel to come out. People who ordered after me got their bagels before mine was ready, which doesn't make much sense *shrugs* I can get over that but I had asked for my bagel to be warmed up and it felt like it barely was. I found that disappointing, but what was even worse was that I found a hair in my bagel... when I was a couple of bites from finishing. Promptly threw out the rest. So... I decided to give this place a try and my first impression of the place is it looks really cute with a nice rustique ambience to it. there wasn't any line as well, which is a relieve in its own way because usually the line is very long wherever I want to get bagel. they have pretty extensive choices and I decided to go for Pumpernickel Bagel with "No Egg" Salad which is made of tofu, spinach, and dill (if I'm not mistaken). the bagel was of normal size. it has pretty nice texture and just right amount of chewiness. it was pretty good. the no egg salad has bold tofu flavor, which I don't mind cause I love tofu. but overall I have to be honest it wasn't mind blowingly good. it was good, but not exceptional. the spread was also distributed unevenly so it looks thick in the middle but there was barely any on one side. the service though... although no one was necessarily ride, I feel like everyone there is just so... grumpy. i didn't expect everyone to be all happy and bubbly but it would've been nice if everyone wasn't so sulky and looked annoyed all the time will I come back? if I'm craving bagel and happens to be in the area then maybe. but I don't see myself traveling out of my way just to grab something from here read more

I usually stop by here now and again when I am in the area for my yoga class. The shop is quite small so I don't make plans to sit and eat. Typically I am there in the late morning/early afternoon. Prob been there 6x now so I think I am more than qualified to leave a review based on multiple visits here. Usually, I get the same thing- Bagel with cream cheese/smoked salmon/capers/onions, etc. Yummy. It's a meal, and I tend to eat half and save the rest for another day. I would give them 5 stars but they are a bit pricey I would say. They have a variety of smoked salmon, I didn't even know that many varieties existed. When evaluating a bagel, I tend to get a plain toasted bagel with butter vs a jazzed up bagel. I haven't done that here so I can't speak on what a plain bagel is like. Unbiased with 1000 toppings. Next time I think I will try a simple bagel order to get a better sense of the actual bagel quality. Then again, I don't exactly want to pay $$ for a simple bagel. read more

Close to 4 stars. The bagel was good, I enjoyed it, but it wasn't anything memorable. I've been meaning to come here for a while but just hadn't made the stop. Decided to pop in on a weekend around noon for a bagel. There was a long line and you order in the back and then pay in a separate line/when your order is ready. It took about 25 minutes from when I got in line to when I was walking out. I ordered an everything bagel with Scottish salmon scallion, cream cheese and tomato, onion and cucumber. It came to $14 before tax. That's about what I'd expect to pay for a bagel with salmon, but like I said this wasn't any better than other bagels I've had in the city. They have many options so there's going to be an option for everyone. They also had a sign that they have gluten free udi's bagels, so I'll come with my boyfriend next time. Though, I'm not sure how they would avoid cross contamination with the spreads/knives they use unless they have separate ones. I'll be back because it's in the neighborhood, but probably not worth a giant detour since there's probably a bagel place just as good by where you live in the city. read more

This place is horrible. Not only has their food quality declined, but their organization is atrocious. In the age of the pandemic, you would think this little shop could figure out a system for order/pickup/delivery. Instead there is 1 line, usually out the door, with way more people inside than there should safely be. Because there is no system for people waiting for their food, there's a crowd of people around the register, breathing on each other, and not making space for people who need access to their food when their name is called. We are 8 months out from shutting down the city from the pandemic. If chipotle down the street can figure out a system for their customers, this place should be able to do it as well. Until they can sort themselves out, I'm banning this place, and will happily tell everyone and my neighbors to do the same. read more

Bagels in NYC.... need I say more?! The chew of fresh made on premises NY bagels from a deli is the only way to start a day. We arrived at 130 and I wasn't surprised to find out they were out of everything bagels although I was admittedly heartbroken. I decided on the onion bagel, lox, scallion cream cheese, lettuce, red onion, tomato, capers and cucumbers. Moments later, the biggest bestest breakfast sandwich was in my hands. A solid 5 inches high, I was happy to attempt to take a bite without unhinge good my jaw to ensure I got a taste of every ingredient. Fresh lox, the triple onion trifecta and the homey feeling of a NYC Jewish deli almost made me forget I didn't get an everything bagel. Although not my all time too NYC bagel and lox, this downtown hot spot (crowded the entire time we were there at 1-2pm) is a great stop for quality fish and great bagels. read more

Just moved to this side of town so naturally, it's Murray's for bagels. Two in-person orders now, two incorrect orders. Last time they forgot to put the salmon on my bagel with the cream cheese. How they forgot the main ingredient, I'll never know. Didn't realize it till I got to my desk 20 minutes later. I checked the receipt, paid for it, just didn't get it. Didn't do anything about it. Just today, ordered The Red Hook Brooklyn with roast beef, received turkey. Not a huge deal and I probably wouldn't have mentioned it if I hadn't noticed both times how cross the guy behind the corner is - working hard, moving at a fast pace, making sandwiches, but what a crummy disposition he has. There are so many options that no matter who you are you'll find something delicious. I think their everything and pumpernickel bagels are the best. Pair with Raisin Maple Walnut or a sweet strawberry spread and you'll be in bagel heaven. Try one or buy a baker's dozen. Need a bagel buddy? Murray's serves coffee, Harney and Son's tea, and season treats such as hot apple cider. The space is small, but what isn't in New York? The lines do get long, but they move along. There is a large team working hard to get you your bagel so be patient. They do provide delivery in the Manhattan area via bike and you can order ahead. Some small tables are located inside. If you find a seat you're a lucky bagel eater! Like Starbucks, you can probably find a bagel shop on every corner, but I do think Murray's has a better quality and you get more bang for your buck which is also something to consider. read more

Everybody has their own quintissential New York experience, whether it be shopping on 5th Ave or watching a broadway show. I can do without any of those but it would've been an epic fail if I didn't eat a bagel! Murray's bagels in Greenwich Village is a classic. Sure, there are a lot of bagel places in the city that you can just go to, but Murray's make their bagels with barley malt which gives it a beautiful color and a subtle sweetness. I arrived at noon to find the place a buzzin. Whether breakfast or lunch, they got you covered: bagels, smoked meats, salads, etc. I love me a good smoked salmon but I also wanted eggs and the LEO (Lox, Egg and Onion omelette) on a plain bagel did the trick. At $7.75 it was very filling. The shiny, slightly crunchy crust with soft, chewy interior is full flavored and satisfying. BTW, don't stick out like a tourist by asking for your bagel toasted. They will refuse to do it because their bagels are super FRESH. Even this hardcore "heck yeah I will never eat my bagel untoasted" girl was put in check. read more

I went to Murray's at 12:00 on a Sunday (obviously a very busy time to go) but it was total chaos. The place was packed and it was confusing who was in line to order and who was in line to pick up. A BEC bagel was a 30 minute wait so I changed my order at the last minute. The pickup area was a mess, it was hard to get to the front once my number was called and the plexiglass was so high I couldn't even really reach to get it (I'm only 5'2". Someone else near me ended up grabbing it for me). There was general confusion and a lot of people asking where there orders were, if their number was called, etc. After an experience that took overall about an hour, I had the saddest everything bagel I'd ever had. It was so tough that it was hard to chew and took me forever to eat. The lox and cream cheese were great but the bagel was bad enough I will not be going back. read more

So the debate over which place has the best bagel in NYC is hotly contested. For my money, Murray's has and always will be the best in the city. I've been coming here for over 15 years and it is just consistently good each and every time. Like all NYC bagel shops, Murray's has a bevy of bagels and spreads that diners get to choose from. The quality of the bagels here is simply the best - they're crusty, chewy and have just the right texture for a perfect bagel. The spreads are always good here but I think the one must have item here is their chicken salad. I made my first visit to Murray's in 1999 when I worked around the corner on 14th street. In addition to loving their outstanding bagels, I ate their lentil soup almost every day for lunch for three years. I moved away and returned to Murray's today after 16 years and - yay! Had the ww everything bagel and I loved that the garlic and onion bits were nicely toasted. It was on a 2 egg sandwich and I added tomato and creamcheese. A little slippery to eat as the ingredients kept sliding but that's prob due to my ingredient choice. Overall great bagels. Very typical NYC bagel spot with bagels, pastries, and a few drink options. Two separate lines for bulk and sandwich orders makes the lines move fast. I got a sesame seed bagel with regular cream cheese, lox, lettuce, and tomato. The bagel had a ton of lox and 2 layers of cream cheese, so it was very overstuffed and therefore difficult to eat. Ordered a pastrami lox bagel sandwich. excellent everything bagel. Tasted great. soft with a slight chew on the inside while crisp on the outside. Lox tasted fine, but I wish there was more taste to it. (Russ and Daughthers lox was better) the amount of salmon seemed a tad on the low side. The generous amount of scallion cream cheese tasted on par with most places that charge $15 for one of these. Overall the great bagel sandwich.
