Outside the Murphy's Hotel and Bar. Iconic. !!

Super Excellent in every way. We went to the bar and had a beer and went back later for drinks and dinner at the bar. Romeo the bartender is a pro. Terrific atmosphere and service. The food and drinks were excellent as well. The setting is real, with the authentic bar from the 1800s. Could not have wished for a better experience which welcomed us to Murphys and made our trip to see the Big Trees really memorable. Will travel this way again.

The food was delicious and our waitress was so attentive and gave out some great recommendations. Parking is on street and they do have a parking area for hotel guest. I got the Portabella sandwich with french fries with roasted red peppers and my husband got the California Grill chicken club sandwich with lettuce, tomatoes and large slices of avocados. We also got a Apricot beer, Snoweizen and a Firestone Mine Haze IPA. The Murphy's Hotel Saloon was a very nice place to kick back and enjoy a afternoon on the patio. I would totally recommend this place and they also had a lot of local wines. No dogs on patio was the only bummer.

First time visiting Murphys and stopped for lunch here. Cute little haunted historic hotel. Apparently this hotel has hosted the likes of JP Morgan, S Crocker and more. Their names are on the front door of the room they stayed in. Eleanor is the ghost. Her husband was a miner that died in the mines and she died in the hotel waiting for him. Lunch was tasty and especially the bread pudding which I hate to limit myself. Lumpia was a surprise to see on their menu but were crisp and filled with ground chicken and some veggies.

Cute old bar in downtown Murphy. We came for Raiders game and didn't have to wear a mask thank god! The bartender had his hands full, worked the tables and bar, so service was a little slow, but the food was very good and the bar is really cool and cozy in a historic hotel. We were on vacation and looked for a bar to watch the game and found out it's a Raiders bar too.

Discover Murphy's Hotel in California's historic gold country.

Then I noticed the customers cars- all new nice vehicles (MBZ sedan, new Ford Bronco, Toyota 4-Runner, etc) The bar section was kind of crowded at 4:30pm, only a couple of seats open, so we sat in a funky raised booth with our backs to the window. Seemed like a lot of regulars as they all knew one another. Female bartender came out and took our beer orders and then brought menus. We ordered food (fish & chips, and a BLTA Club). Friend said they have great fish & chips and she was very pleased. i was surprised to find the BLTA far above my expectations for a pub. Fries were good too- perfectly cooked to a golden brown. I would go back for that sandwich when in that area of town. The food items were each just over $20-24, four beers $9 each. With tax and 20% tip it was just under $100 I'd go back 100%. Not a place I'd take a date, however.

The fish sandwich was ok, nothing to brag about. I have had much better and price was kinda high. Their churro desert with vanilla ice cream was amazing. I guess my biggest complaint would be price.I know everything is expensive, but $82 before tax and tip is a lot for 2 people for bar food.
