I totally get the hype about this place! If I lived nearby, you can bet I'd work my way through…read moretheir whole menu. There's just something different about this style of sandwich. I've had sandwiches in NYC and Boston, but Tony's were definitely better! The menu is overwhelming because so much sounds good, so we went with two 7 inch sandwiches to split--one hot and one cold. Although a helpful tip from the cashier is that you can order any cold sandwich hot. We had the Lucky Luciano (hot) and the Sophia (cold). Both were really good--it was hard to choose between the two. But if I'm being honest, that cold sandwich was reminiscent of subs I loved in the early 2000s from places that no longer exist...with that super thinly sliced turkey, thick slice of Swiss cheese, and basil mayo--it really hit the spot. We also had a cannolo--not as good as others I've had. The bottled root beer was delightful. The Lucky Luciano was the kind of sandwich I came here for, and don't get me wrong, it is deliciously cheesy and will make your hands messy. But the Sophia is the kind of sandwich I'll be craving. My only regret was not taking a sandwich to-go for later. Open a location closer to Houston, please. :)

Many visits later it pains me to remove a star FOR BEVERAGE ISSUES ONLY (the food is still…read morefantastic). They are a pepsi place (booooooo!), and there's no diet pepsi (pepsi zero is their only zero calorie soda option). If you drink Diet Coke (most popular diet drink in USA), then you don't want diet pepsi, but you'll probably drink it if you have to; however, you're very likely to hate pepsi zero (and Coke Zero, too), so no soda for you here anymore! A full Coke setup that also includes Dr Pepper AND Diet Dr Pepper is ideal. I realize a pepsi fountain is more profitable because of distributor incentives, but pepsi is favored by almost nobody and hated by many...so is it really worth it? Tony's is so great that pepsi just does not fit in. Hopefully they don't deteriorate further and change to Wonderbread for all of their sandwiches. Bottom line: at the very least, please add diet pepsi to your soda machine if that brand remains in place.

We ordered the banana pancakes (about 3 for $9, which is a great deal), corned beef hash and eggs with a bagel and cream cheese -- some of the best I've had at a breakfast spot, and a brisket bowl (not pictured). Everything came out quickly and hit the spot for a late-night meal. Late-night bites for Easter are a tradition for us, and Katz's ended up being such a great surprise. Definitely a place I'd come back to more often.

I'm feeling nostalgic about missing my mother's food, and so had to order it when I saw they had a cabbage roll appetizer. One of those oldie but goodie foods that your mother and grandmother knew how to make, but most of us lost the recipe. There is a slight hint of sweetness in it that's quite appealing, it's different than my mother's version, but I thought it was really excellent!! Will order that again. I don't normally wax poetic about a pickle, but the one they put on my Reuben sandwich plate is worth an ode. I asked them to make the Reuben with pastrami instead of corned beef, and add extra Swiss cheese and Russian dressing. Bib up, it'll drip juices but that's a good thing. Anyway, the pickle on that plate was a three bears story - not too strong, not too bland, but absolutely perfect. I was in a traditionalist mood and so I ordered blintzes for dessert with blueberry sauce. This is my first time eating here, the food was really great, and the staff was warm and wonderful. And you know, the coffee tasted really fresh and was delicious as well! Next time I will order the cabbage rolls again, definitely the blitzes for dessert, and then I'll have to try something else off the menu. Voyage of discovery. Definitely coming back soon!

We only tried the hoagies, chips, and fries, but everything was good. The hoagies came out in a crunchy baguette. I'm guessing the bread is Vietnamese banh mi bread rolls. They were crunchy and very light. I liked the Italian better than the cheesesteak. The cheesesteak is a little salty for my taste, but it is still decent. This is a small mom and pop, not a fancy or trendy place. I would compare it to a hole in the wall and many people take it to go. Lots of people were calling in for the pizza and take out.

Unfortunately about a year ago from the date of this review, Peter, which was the Asian owner of Chinese decent, decided to retire and long be gone. I was saddened to hear they I cannot get my delicious cheese steak sandwiches that I have not been able to find anywhere else. I'm a little bit biased to this establishment because I used to work there in the late '80s for a few months helping to make the preps for the foods there. Forward to now, I found this place upon a recommendation from a friend and semince this is a block for my residence I decided to try it. BLAST!! This is a spitting image out what ROCKY'S tasted like when it existed. I was blown away also when I heard that owner of this establishment that's been here for decades, was high school friend with Peter. (of Rocky's Subs) so they decided to open a business amongst each other in different places hence the parallel recipes as well as the pizza. It is rough inside and it showing its age but there are such thing as hole in the walls and sometimes they are the best places to eat correct? Well here is one of them and the bonus benefit is the prices are early 1990s currency! Where else can you get a Cheesesteak Hoagie for the price of around $7 and some change plus half price on the next one? This place never seems busy you know I was wondering how it stays open but hurry and get your cheese steak fixed before this guy decides to follow suit. There are coupons for the pizza that you can pick up at the counter and already at a very purposely priced average layout of $12 ish you can even get a discount off of that which you can feed a small party. This is one of those places where I tried it three times in one week and those that know me no that I will legitimately return as a nuisance until I'm sick of an establishment... and here I am. That Ambience is Cafe style and you're not going to get any decorations or happy cashiers but you will get a glimpse of its past ghostly history which seem to have been a Mexican restaurant at one time....decades ago! Don't let the outside deter you because there's not much to see and if you're driving past here fast enough, you might not see it and then when you step inside, don't get a double whammy of being surprised but just try the product for pizza sake, you will love it.

He was friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, and even helped us select an entrée for Mom. We both ordered the Chicken Panini, hers with broccoli soup and mine with chicken pot pie soup. Our meals were delivered promptly by a sweet, cordial young lady. Mom was excited to see her entrée, but after a few bites, she found her broccoli soup too salty. I tasted it as well and suspected the cheddar cheese base was the reason. I went to the counter to request a bowl of hot water to dilute the soup, which helped a little. The gentleman who took our order noticed and immediately asked if everything was okay. When I mentioned the high sodium content for Mom, he kindly offered to bring another cup prepared with more milk or to swap it for a different soup. Mom opted for the potato soup, and he graciously brought it out. The Chicken Panini was excellent -- warm, well-made, and flavorful. The side of plain house chips was decent, though a bit salty for our taste -- especially when paired with the soup. A baked chip option might be a nice, lighter alternative for some guests. The restaurant itself was clean, and I appreciated seeing staff promptly clearing and wiping down tables as guests left. It added to the welcoming and well-kept atmosphere. We ended our meal with a smooth, delicious ice cream cone -- the perfect sweet finish. While a few items were on the salty side for us, the outstanding service, clean environment, and overall meal quality made the visit worthwhile. We'll definitely be back!
