Two items were substituted for specific items needed. Made a call to have those two items delivered and swapped for the incorrect ones. This was confirmed. Those items were job and time critical. After three days I call again to find out where those delinquent items are. Then they tell me instead of swapping them, I have to return the incorrect items, then pay again for the new ones, then they will order the correct items. Another lost three days. I have to drive to town to return and pay. Again, expecting two more days, after three I call again. Cant get through to the pro desk. This happens two days in a row. At some point one item shows up via UPS. The other item turns out not to have been ordered at the same time and tracking shows it now coming from NY state with an unknown shipping date. Looking at the HD website for this product it now shows delivery by a date that is 14 days away. I end up having to cancel this order and reorder it from Lowes with a three day lead time until home delivery. In summary, way too painful for a Pro order. I wont use HD again for an important project. The people I dealt with at the Ogden store were all very nice, though insensitive to the delays, but communication within HD and to this Pro customer were sorely lacking. I recommend looking at alternative lumber yards first if its an important project.

Bottom line: You are reading this review because you're not a secret door expert. Otherwise, you wouldn't be here. A few months ago I wasn't a secret door expert. Now I am. Here's what I have to say about Murphy Door. First and most important: customer service, specifically Kodi in customer service. As a not-expert I came to her with 100 questions, maybe more. She answered all patiently. She got back to me with answers quickly. She is 100% why they got the sale. I'm just a guy who wanted a few secret doors in his house. Kodi made me confident enough in her product to drop the $$$ with her. Because of this excellent customer service, there were no surprises from tip to toe. I knew what I was getting into. The product: I bought 3 secret doors. A 2-way mirror/bookcase and two bookcase doors. Shipping was beyond reproach. Packed incredibly well with sensors to ensure they never tipped. Because of time and money I bought them all unfinished. I knew what I was getting into but I had a vision for these doors. First thing I did was seal all the MDF with an oil based primer. Overkill? Maybe. But everything I had read about MDF suggested that was best practice. I worked with an excellent carpenter to install these (and I recommend you do the same). Getting your jambs set and level is obviously important. Although Murphy included trim with the order we used our own to keep it seamless with the rest of the house. Dropping the door in is a two person gig. These doors are SOLID. We are about 2 months into regular use of them and they perform as well as they did on day one. They are smooth as butter, and when I say regular use, I mean a lot. We did not buy these doors to go to places we never use. All three are regular passes in our house. I'll attach some photos. Everything I did to these doors I did solo with items you can find on Amazon and Lowes. Minimal expense, maximum imagination. Remember, I knew NOTHING about secret doors before these arrived. Back to customer service. A couple more reasons why Murphy excelled: 1) a few days after I ordered they had a Black Friday sale. They immediately applied the sale to my order, 2) they addressed an issue with shipping head on and made it right. I do not judge anyone by their mistakes, it's how they handle it - and Murphy ran at it, not away from it. Big kudos. If you've read this far then I'll end with - go out and become a secret door expert! They are super FUN and that's what it's all about. Fun is the only reason we shelled out the money here. Murphy will be straight and patient with you (THANK YOU Kodi!) and when it's time they will deliver a solid product to you. Get yourself a partner with some skills and tools and get to work! read more

I purchased 3 doors from Murphy Doors totaling $8197.16 First, the length of time for production was misleading and inconsistent between what the website said to what the email said to what the person texting me said. After a long wait the delivery day finally came and that "white glove service" their automated message prides itself on when you call in is completely a lie. I had a pregnant employee working that day expecting the delivery driver to bring the doors entirely inside the warehouse unit and instead they attempted to leave on the sidewalk outside. We refused to sign for delivery. A few weeks later after repeatedly reaching out to the company to try to get delivery rescheduled. After no communication the delivery drivers called at 7am stating they would be there that day. All three came with cabinet knobs that were misaligned severely. One came entirely missing hardware to install it and the swing out going the wrong direction. One came with aesthetic damage to the cabinet door. Lastly, the backside of the door is unfinished, has no trim and silver screws sticking out. It's insanely unprofessional looking. We immediately contacted Murphy Door and could not get ahold of anyone. We texted, we emailed, we called. Eventually we were offered $150. After realizing I wasn't going to get anywhere with this company and that this was too big of a loss to take I filed a dispute with my credit card company. While the charge was being investigated their "customer service supervisor" reached out and told me if I dropped the dispute they could try to find a 501c3 to pick up one the doors and if they could find one they could refund me. This in no way makes me whole nor do I trust them enough to actually do that. The only benefit that resolution has is a tax write off for them. Don't let this company take advantage of you and your hard earned money. read more

I was searching for a bookcase door for my wine room. I came across the Murphy door site, and they listed a billiard accessory door that really would fit in nicely with my decor. I initially went to the website to order but had several questions so I opted for a telephone order. My rep Celine was courteous as well as knowledgeable concerning the options I wanted. She promptly completed my order, identifying what the steps would be through the build and delivery process. My door was shipped as promised and was in perfect condition, thanks in no small part to the extensive and careful packaging. It was easy to install as both the written and on line ( via the web based BILT system)were very clear and easy to understand. Approximately 2 months after install I developed a slight problem with the mag lock. This time the rep I spoke with - Kennedy was polite responsive and offered imeadeate assistance in returning my door to it's original function. I would recommend Murphy door to anyone . I ordered two Murphy Doors back in December. I was expecting them to arrive around the end of February. They arrived within a month. Before ordering I spoke with Kodi in sales. She answered every question thoroughly and was super customer orientated. I have to say I was still a bit nervous ordering what is essentially a complex piece of furniture site unseen. When they got here I could not belief the quality of the packaging. That was just the start. When I unboxed the product I could not believe the quality for the price. Installed fairly and the operation if really impressive. My carpenter helped my hang them and comment no way he could build this kind of product for the price we paid. We absolutely loved the design concept of the Beverage Cabinet from Murphy Door, but unfortunately, our experience with the product quality has been extremely disappointing. Over the past few months, we've received three separate shipments--each intended to replace the last due to damage--and each one arrived in worse condition than the previous. At this point, we've decided to pay out of pocket to have the cabinet professionally refinished, despite the significant amount we've already spent. We've reached out to Murphy Door requesting a partial refund to help cover these additional costs. However, instead of addressing the issue, they continue to send replacement cabinets under warranty. Due to poor packaging, these replacements arrive with even more damage. It's incredibly frustrating and disheartening, especially given how much we loved the initial concept. read more

World class customer service! The door itself was delivered in perfect condition, but there was an error in my order and I received the wrong jamb size. Carrie was very quick to identify their error and provide options for correcting the mistake. In this case, the only viable solution was for them to simply send a new replacement door. Obviously, getting the correct door the first time would've been ideal, but mistakes happen. Murphy (Carrie) did not hesitate to own the mistake and ensure that the order was corrected; Even if it meant they ate the cost of another door. I could not be happier with my new Murphy Door. Looks just like a shelf with books and opens to a secret room. Very nicely made. I had a gash on one of the shelves it shipped with and I called and left a message and received an email response the SAME DAY! They requested pics and are shipping out a new shelf under warranty. Thank you to Kodi for all of your help. The only negative is the shipping company did not schedule delivery and left it outside my garage with no notice, thankfully it was not ruined by rain because it rains nearly every day in the summer in Florida. My wife and I bought a house that had a room with no door. We had always loved the idea of a hidden bookcase door, so when we heard about Murphy Door we decided to get one for the new house. We purchased an unfinished 36" x 80" Alder Pine Murphy door to fit in our master bathroom, while covering up a small storage space. Our product arrived on a fully protected crate.
