The best nachos in town and big enough for two people. The menu has a really good variety, we have not had a bad meal there.

I know you are probably thinking "5 stars! How can it be that good?" True, Cheboygan is no foodie Mecca. This restaurant in a tiny modest town quite surprised me. The five stars is warranted, since it scored perfect against my restaurant criteria. We were hesitant to go in for lunch on a lazy Monday while visiting neighbouring Mackinaw City. We thought it would be expensive, and questioned if the quality would be worth it. We passed up the other eateries and had a great lunch. American style bar menu. Lots to choose from. Nice atmosphere, beautiful dark wood bar, some flat screens, comfy chairs. Nice space. Friendly waitresses. They had some Lighthouse Amber beer which is made down the street at the town brewery. I was happy about this because the brewery was closed, so at least I got to try it at Mulligans. Ordered the home made chips & salsa. Very good, surprisingly. I also had a perch sandwich, fresh & local fish with an interesting horseraddish tartar sauce. Came with freshly made bar chips. Super bonus. Love those and these were fried and cut perfectly. Hubby got a Rueben, he seemed to enjoy it. Kids each had chicken fingers and they were excellent. Also came with a house made BBQ sauce that was really good. I am considering going back for a full dinner before we leave town! Quality & delicious food. Everything was fresh and prepared correctly. Waitresses was friendly and knowledgeable. Restaurant itself was clean, well decorated, balanced and comfortable. Prices matched the quality for added value. Argh... One too many frustrating experiences at this restaurant knocks it down at least a star from my previous review. I really think it deserves a 2.5, but I'm grading on a curve, I guess, since there are so few options in town. Food is a 3 (menu has changed, ingredients are slowly getting lower in quality), service is a 2 at this point. There are mistakes to our order almost every time we visit, often several in one visit, and the last few times the food has taken waaay to long to arrive, with giant gaps when the server is nowhere to be found. The missing/wrong items and long wait times are always casually shrugged off. I don't really understand how or why this same scenario is played out so consistently. (Read: Management???...) It's never particularly swamped, the servers don't seem rushed... it just seems like there is an overall flippant attitude about the idea of SERVICE. Blech. I'm no longer impressed. read more

Usually we have decent service here but tonight we were rudely told that the restaurant was hosting a party tonight and no tables were available. We weren't given a timeframe or anything, just told nothing was available. Obviously they didn't want I'm not sure how to respond to the comment so I'll answer here. Had lunch at Mulligan's recently and although most of our food was decent, two in our party had dishes that included avocado. Both complained that the avocado was inedible (not ripe). When we mentioned this to the waiter he said he was sorry but no compensation was offered. This is typical of Mulligan's. Oh, you didn't like your food? Sorry, here's your bill. read more

Food was mediocre at best. Only got one bite of salad before main course arrived at the table. Told waitress of concerns. Salad was not fresh, brown wilted lettuce. Main dish had no taste and my plate was swimming in water from the boiled veggies. Was brought the bill and the amount on the bill was around $3.00 less than the charge on the credit card. We ate there a few years ago and it was great, however this time was was a terrible. I ordered the perch as recommended by our server. The house salad was very good, fresh, and well prepared. The perch was just ok but not great. The baked potato was so cold it wouldn't melt butter. The mixed vegetables were soggy and must have been frozen and were just microwaved. Great food, great atmosphere, good service. Friday night was a little slow at first, but picked up by 7pm. Very casual atmosphere. Sarah D our server knew all about the draft items and specials for the night. Impressed by her friendly service and knowledge. Food was really good. Fresh and made to order. A nice little bar & grill in downtown Cheboygan. I attended a wedding rehearsal dinner in the banquet room. The room is nice--large windows, spacious. We had a buffet dinner--the Tex Mex food was tasty. Service was very friendly. We had two servers and the seemed a little overwhelmed by the large size of our party (I think one of them may have been new to the job, as well). Ordering our drinks was a bit of a mess--they tried to take our orders before showing us the selections, there was no system to order taking or drink delivery and several people's drinks were forgotten, forcing them to reorder. But the servers were very responsive and things were eventually straightened out. Seems like this would be a nice place for a casual dinner--good place to grab a beer and a burger with friends. read more

Husband and I wanted lunch and had our dog with us, so I asked if we could bring our dog into the outdoor seating area and we were told by multiple employees that we absolutely could. While eating lunch the manager posted many signs all around the outdoor seating area---NO DOGS ALLOWED---so while the servers were wonderful and the food was acceptable the manager was rude and discourteous. Let's show some respect by relating to paying customers--and there were other guests with dogs that were hit in the face as well. Called and talked to manager and she was nastier on the phone. This place has GREATLY improved over the last few years. The old bar manager was awful to the customers. I witnessed him almost harass multiple other customers while I was present. The new manager is MUCH MUCH better. The service is great. The food is even better as well. read more

Tried to order dinner with the family on one of the busiest weekends in Northern MI and left with out food! This was easily one of the worst dining experiences of my life. The service was abysmal (the waitress never once returned for drink refills and she acted as if we were a burden), and it took over an hour to finally get our food, which was subpar at best. After spending over an hour in Mackinaw City looking for a place to eat that has good food and reasonable prices we decided to go to Cheboygan. We're glad we did because we had a fantastic meal! The mile high nachos were phenomenal! We also ordered the black and bleu burger and quesadillas for the kids. Both were equally fantastic. I don't remember the servers name but she was awesome too. This is a nice clean friendly restaurant in Northern Michigan. Very good atmosphere, great place to come with a group of friends. The food is pretty good also, I ordered the nachos, and like most places that serve nachos, it was a large portion (more than I could eat). The drinks were great. My family was looking for someplace to eat while in the Cheboygan area. We found Mulligan's. The meal was spectacular. Among us (one young child, four adult children, and two parents) we had a salad, hamburgers, wings and a Cajun pasta dish. The children's menu was good, too. All of the food was excellent, French fries that accompanied some of the meals were also excellent. The service was prompt and we were frequently offered refills, etc. We were there at 5:30 p.m., but there were quite a few people dining (it's likely much more crowded at other times). The interior of the restaurant is very nice, and it has a full bar. They have free wifi available (ask for password). Great experience, we'll go there again on our next visit to the area. read more

Fish "taco" was 3 large pieces of fried cod with lettuce, tomato and some red pepper aioli that tasted good but not spicy at all.
