The pizza was excellent. I'm not from the area and my group was looking for pizza in a fairly remote area, so we found this place. My pizza was fresh, cheesy and very yummy! They also have huge, fresh-baked cookies for sale. I'll definitely stop in again when I'm back up that way. It was totally worth the ride to make it there from Onaway!! read more

Stopped in for lunch on a Wednesday. Cheese burger special was excellent; thick cooked perfect with fresh lettuce tomato pickle onion. French dip sandwich was great, but au jus wasn't flavorful & tasted like water. Very clean restroom. Friendly staff. I definitely will be back read more

We had the pizza special ( large pizza 3 toppings for $13.95) and added fresh cut fries and cheese sticks and a pitcher of craft beer. The service was friendly and inviting. We really felt treated like a local even though we were visiting from out of town. Highly recommend. read more

We love the burgers and sliders here, and the grinder we got one time was fantastic! Local, laid back atmosphere with friendly waitstaff. After coming up north for 15 years and never going there, it's a destination in the last 5 years we are sure to hit when we visit. read more

Stopped in around 630pm Monday for dinner, 10-12 people already seated, I ordered mini burgers because they looked delicious. Took 10 minutes to get acknowledged for a menu and a beverage, took my order right away. 4 Mini burgers and fries. Ordered no onions told her twice and she repeated it back to me, 34 minutes my little burgers arrived at that time I asked for a refill, she took my glass refilled it right away and set it on the counter and began talking. Conversation and customer relations are great I get it. 13-15 minutes later shes pushing chairs in and realizes there's a cold soda sitting on the bar, looks around realizes it was mine she brings it over and by that time I had eaten my fries but my 4 burgers were loaded with onion so I didn't eat them. She asked about them and than said oh shoot I'm sorry my fault. Check please. I did manage to leave without paying for me fries and beverage. Worst experience in a very long time. read more

And this is being generous. Ordered $9 fish basket and, after an interminable wait, was served three fish sticks that were so greasy they were inedible. Tried to peel off breading and discovered fish was 1/4 in. thick gray, mushy mass. Breading was 90% of the fried "fish". Took 3 paper towels to wipe dripping grease off my hands from handling. Cole slaw was a tiny cupful and fries were undercooked, limp and tasting of fish. Told waitress I couldn't eat it and that they had a lot of nerve charging $9 for fish sticks. She agreed that the food was unacceptable. She brought menu for me to reorder and promptly disappeared. Husband finished his burger while I choked down 5 or 6 fries and slaw from my basket (which waitress never even removed) so I could take my meds. When another waitress finally appeared, she offered to bring me something else, but we couldn't stand another minute of listening to the band that blasted so loud you had to scream to be heard. Asked for the bill and were told we were free to go without charge. Went home and ate a bologna sandwich for my Sun. dinner as this was all we had in the house. Ruined my day!!!!!!!!!!! This place is a sleazy dive---will never, ever go back. The following Fri. went to Rippling Rapids golf course across the road for excellent fried whitefish dinner. read more

We have a cottage in the area and have been there three times in the past year. The first time in May was great - Had the pizza and it was very good. The second time about two weeks later the food was good but the service wasn't - the bar tender was more interested in talking to her bar people vs. providing good service for tables in dining area. Mind you about 6 ppl at the bar and one table with 4 ppl in dining room. We watched one table come in and leave due to how long they waited for service. They told the waitress/bar tender it was a shame they were contractors and building a house on Black Lake and would have made suggestion to other people on the site. The last time - July 3 we stopped by after coming off black lake and had burgers - and a few drinks. Simple and easy bit to eat so we thought. Service was great! Food was horrible. The burger were way over cooked on one side - thick and crispy on one side, (Flat Grill too long). The fries were good and hot but considering the burger came with chips and I had to pay extra for fries - it wasn't worth the extra money for amount of fries they served. I'm very disappointed with the lack of consistency in food. I work in the food business and was embarrassed the last two times when we have friends up to our cottage. I like to take them out to nice - simple local bar that has good food. Not sure we will take our guest there in the future. Its a really a shame they have a nice décor in the area and serve good drinks over all. Guess we will drive a bit further and hit Breakers on Mullet lake from now on. read more
