Stopped here on our way from Sault Ste Marie to Alpena. Nice little local restaurant. Service was very good. Pretty much homestyle, local diner vibe. Prices are very reasonable. My wife had burger, I had the chicken and dumpling soup - both were good.

Great food and great value, be patient the wait is worth it. We were pleasantly surprised...beat our expectations!

    The Big Breakfast

The best breakfast in Rogers City. When ever I am in Rogers City I stop in for breakfast. It's always hard to choose between the Big Breakfast and Southern Omelette. What makes this breakfast so special is the Plath's bacon and sausage they use. And their homemade wheat bread is great. Great service and great staff.

    House-made toast

Highly recommend the Daily Homemade bread! The toast and french bread is made of it and it's fluffy and delicious. Would definitely visit again!

We always like to stop in while in the area. Home cooked food, fresh and tasty. Today we had breakfast skillets and they didn't disappoint. Waitstaff was very attentive and pleasant despite having just dealt w a combative customer

    Great small town atmosphere!

Kortmans is just north of the M68/M23 intersection, so please go past McDonalds and check out Kortman's. The burgers are great, the baked chicken is raved over, and the homemade pies are killer too. We're trying to branch out from McDonalds, and this place does great for that. The food is much better, and it's comparable in price now, since McDonalds keeps going up! A great cheeseburger loaded with toppings, fries, and a Pepsi will be about $9.50 which for a hand-smashed fresh beef burger is great. The chicken / roast beef / roast pork & dressing meals are only $8.95 on special! Roll by Kortman's, great small town place. Staff is friendly, restrooms are clean, everything was great. As the reviewer below said, the breakfasts are great, and the Plath's stuff is so good. (Local butcher shop)

Best breakfast, super waitstaff. My favorite was bacon and potatoes. Restaurant was packed but worth it.

Eggs over cooked. Biscuits and gravy are from a can. The homemade toast was good. Not someplace I would come back to.

Great homemade bread. My omelet was exactly what I asked for and the portions we're just right.

It was wrong. They got my order wrong, which is fine, it happens... but he refused to let me send it back and just get a refund. He seemed to have an attitude about it, appalled that I would even ask such a thing. It's not like I had eaten most of it and then requested a refund. It was visibly wrong the moment it arrived. He said, again with attitude, "Well, we made it and you payed for it, so..." Aren't such payments supposed to be on a little bit of a good faith system? So fine, whatever, he walked away even as I was beginning to explain that the way I ordered was for medical reasons, but I could see I wasn't going to achieve anything by talking more. We attempted to eat, and... it was okay. Nothing notable, but not gross either. As we ate, an elderly server/waitress comes over and starts lecturing us, telling us that they dont serve pizza there. Which we just got and we're eating. After a few moments, she finally made it clear that we weren't allowed to EAT the pizza there. The pizza that was on their menu. No signs proclaiming this esoteric rule, but between her words and condescending tone, we were starting to get rather upset now, so we just picked up and left. Terrible place. Don't give them your business. The small store in front, attached to them, was fine. I dont know if it is the same owners or they share the building or what, but we had no problems with the shop in front.

Every one we ordered was yummy. I chose a build your own pizza, it was so good. The rest of the table went with sandwiches, chicken, appetizers, & soup- all were happy with their choices. The kids ordered up a variety of mocktails. They loved them. There is a little ice cream shack out back with hand dipped cones. The view is amazing of Grand Lake. The ambiance is cozy & modern with an up north feel. The staff was super friendly. We will be back!

But it turns out that you…read moreshouldn't judge a restaurant by its name, because Chuckwagon served us what was probably the best meal we had on Mackinac Island. And it was the cheapest, too! Blessed from all directions. A patty melt was on the menu, so that's what I got. I can't not get a patty melt if I see one on a menu! This one was beefy and melty, with caramelized red onions between two slices of rye bread. All of the burgers and sandwiches come with plain potato chips and a pickle spear. We also got a regular cheeseburger and bleu cheese burger. All of the burgers are served on a pretzel bun, which is not my favorite type of bun, but I wasn't eating those burgers, and the eaters didn't seem to mind. Chuckwagon has a small kids' menu (the Lil' Buckaroo's Menu), with four items on it. Your kids can choose from a pb & j sandwich, a hot dog, a grilled cheese sandwich and mac & cheese. My little buckaroo chose the mac & cheese, which I believe was Kraft mac & cheese. Kids' menu items don't come with anything additional. This is a small restaurant with limited seating. You can sit at the counter and watch the action happen, or if you're lucky, you can find one of the few tables lining the wall or located in the back of the restaurant. Either way, depending on when you visit, you might encounter a crowd! But I think it's worth it to visit this old-school diner-type restaurant.
