Was driving through Rogers City as I've done a hundred times before. I decided to stop at Chi Chi's as it reminded me of a restaurant chain that was around when I was a kid in Minneapolis. First don't let the outside decor fool you. It's not great and you have to go outside and back in to use the bathroom. And yet... it still rates 5 stars. The server was a sweet lady, like you'd find in most diners, friendly, attentive very helpful. But the food!!! OMG, the fried portobello mushrooms were outstanding and the mushroom and Swiss burger... amazing. The price was about what you'd expect for eating out these days. Not bargain basement, but reasonable, especially for the quality of that food. WOW! read more

I ordered a simple cheeseburger and a side salad. The burger was atrocious. The bun was soggy. The cheese was extremely low quality cheap American cheese. The lettuce in the salad and on the bun was soggy and limp. The meat was undercooked despite the fact i told the waitress that I want my patty "medium-well". I waited for over 45 minutes for my food. The waitresses were washing dishes by hand in view of the customers. My drink was not refilled and I had trouble getting the attention of the waitress. I don't really blame the waitress's though. I could see a tall pile of dishes from hours ago. They do not have a proper electric dishwasher. The food was very disappointing. Rogers city has much better options that would give you fresh food, quicker. If you are visiting, avoid chi-chis. The biggest red flag here is the sign at the front of the restaurant. It only says "chi" because they can not afford to repair it. They can't afford to serve fresh food either. Very disappointing restaurant. AVOID. read more

I'm sorry , I wanted so bad to like this place, been passing by this place for years but never got around to going in until today. Grade of meat is noticeably low grade and texture wise for the patty melt I had. my wife didnt touch her nacho supreme after the first bite of the "cardboard like" chips. mozzarella sticks and fries would be better with a deep fryer oil cleanse. All in all easy fixes can make this place a go to especially in a town like this with honestly no good food spots unless you call McDonald's and subway good eating. I am rooting for your improvements and could only imagine the potential this business can make...... or maybe sell it and allow it to become one of the countless "that used to be" buildings that dot the landscape of the city they call Rogers read more

Seriously the best perch dinner I have ever had. And the dinner rolls are insane. The amazing staff took us in 20 minutes before closing and to be honest I gave them the option of us walking out and stopping elsewhere. We were told to set down and enjoy a meal. And that we did. Awesome breakfast at Chi Chi's this morning. Nice, clean, very attractive place to have a sit down meal. Waitress was very nice. Just a little too friendly to my husband though... very attentive. I needed creamer for 10 min while they were talking. Asked for it 3 times, then figured if I was gonna get any I needed my husband to ask her for it. He did. She brought him some and left the table until He told her I needless some too. Then I got creamer.... not good But food was great! read more

Came here for breakfast because we were disappointed with our usual place and what a treat. Fast service, HOT food and good prices. To be fair we were the only ones in the place, and the menu for breakfast was not extensive. But they had everything we needed and then some. Grandson had only one pancake but couldn't finish it because it was the same size as his dinner plate. Will be coming back for certain. read more

My boyfriend and I had just left Knaebe's Apple Farm and wanted some lunch. So we found this place near by. The atmosphere was very nice, it looked like it had recently been redone. And our waitress was very nice. However the food was just okay. My boyfriend ordered hot chocolate for $1.50 and our waitress brought him a mug of hot water and a hot coco packet, with no spoon. He ordered a chicken sandwich and I ordered their gourmet grilled cheese. He has mention that the sandwich was good other than the chicken being a little dry. However my grilled cheese cake out cold and most of the cheese wasn't melted. So I took it home and finished cooking it myself. Both of our meals came with French fries and those were very gold, I believe that were freshly cut. If they could figure out some small thinking with their cooking this place could definitely be better. read more

A quaint small town no frills diner with a friendly waitress who was quick to provide service and answer our questions about the menu. The fish and chips was excellent. The cod was fried to a golden brown and cooked perfectly with nice flavor. The fries were crisp and tasty. Loved the creamy coleslaw. The restaurant offered homemade soups and pastries. What a pleasant surprise. We have been going to and through Rogers City for some thirty years. Today we were hungry after picking up our sons dog for the week and saw Chi Chi's restaurant. We had driven past but turned around and headed in. We were greeted by a friendly young lady who ended up being our waitress. The place was bright, cheerful and clean looking. Nothing fancy just really nice. Our waitress took our drink order and was quick to deliver. We ordered and waited. Both my wife and I ordered the cod sandwich. When our order arrived we both gasped. It was huge. It was also the most wonderful golden color as were the fries. Having been a short order cook in my younger years I knew when grease was fresh and this was fresh. It made the food taste so much better. There was pleasant chatter throughout the restaurant. The two waitresses were joyful and pleasant. What was most pleasant was their subtle laughter - they really seemed to enjoy working there. Neither one of us could finish the sandwich so we packed it up in a container offer up by our waitress. We left and as soon as we were on the road again we began talking about the restaurant. It was so pleasant and such a nice experience that we commented that we will return. I spent a couple days up in Rogers City and had no idea what the best choices for food were, so I chose randomly. We had cod at the Rooster Tail and that was good. We had Thai at Chee Peng Chinese & Thai and that was good. But when I was craving a burger after spending some time at the Presque Isle Museum (and playing around with the plastic burgers at the soda fountain), we headed to Chi Chi's for lunch before departing Rogers City on our last day there. I was expecting something fairly McDonalds-like and I didn't have high expectations when I walked into the local diner, but we were greeting by a nice, friendly waitress who was very courteous. We ordered our drinks and took in the atmosphere, which was pretty typical of many other small-twon diners I've been to. I felt at home there when a couple of the patrons smiled at us, and when the employees offered up some friendly conversation. The wait seemed a bit long for the number of people who were eating there, but I think there was just one woman working in the back, and if the food is good I don't mind waiting. In the end the wait was well worth it. First of all, my daughter ordered a chocolate shake and I got some Coke from the fountain. Rarely does Coke taste like it's supposed to these days, when coming from a soda fountain in a diner, but this Coke was perfect. The shake was great too. When we received our plates I was surprised to see a burger that was bigger than the bun, and at least 1/2" thick. I ordered onion, tomato, pickles, mustard and ketchup and the burger was loaded with everything. The best part was that the meat tasted wonderful - it was seasoned to perfection, juicy, and very satisfying - reminiscent of what burgers used to taste like when I was a kid in the '60's and 70's. I haven't had a burger experience like that in years. The fries were good too - crispy, hot, and delicious, and they offered Cole slaw as part of the full meal. Bonus! For $5.99 it was a most impressive meal. My daughter's ham and cheese omelet was pretty basic and tasted just how it was supposed to taste. No surprises, but no disappointments either. The menu is pretty diverse, and I wish I could have experienced some of the other fare. I also wish I could have packed them up and brought them home with me. We were looking for someplace in Rogers City for a small bite to eat. We have been to Rogers City numerous times and never tried this place and we were pleasantly surprised. The waitress was very accommodating. I had a BLT wrap and the bacon was crispy and meaty. Coleslaw that accompanied the wrap was very good. My partner had the Chi Chi burger which was outstanding. It was huge and served on a toasty bun. I wish I would have ordered one of the burgers here. read more

Atmosphere not much to write about, but we had the spaghetti & meatball soup and it was so yummy. A hearty homemade tomato based soup with just the right amount of seasoning with the addition of spaghetti noodles and meatballs. Sprinkle with parm cheese, so flavorful and delicious. Then we had one of the best burgers we've had in a long time. It's called the chi chi burger. Two large and juicy patties with lettuce and thousand island dressing. Think Big Boy, but oh so much better. We also tried the waffle fries and the seasoned fries, crispy outsides and soft potatoes inside. All this food, and reasonable too. Very friendly waitress who was very attentive and helpful. Definitely worth the stop. read more
