In July 2025 while vacationing in the area we stopped here for dinner. We had some tasty pizza and delicious onion rings. Fast forward a year later and we stopped in to repeat the experience. WTF happened? The onion rings were terribke with heavy tasteless breading. And, the pizza tasted like it was a frozen box pizza from the grocery. The service was excellent. The food terrible. We rode on the trails all morning and stopped in at the El-Bo for lunch. My husband had been here on a group ride, but they had closed the restaurant for it and there was a limited menu and he was really curious to check out the rest of the menu boy where we glad that we did I can't convey what a cozy little place this was with amazing delicious food that was the big surprise of the day. I would really recommend coming to the El-Bo if you are in the area and if you're looking for a change from their delicious burgers, then try a special we were not disappointed and we're very happy to pack our leftovers for lunch the next day. read more

I had the Cherry Gorgonzola Chicken with salad and baked potato. The potato was barely warm, and the chicken was so over cooked that I had a hard time cutting - let alone chewing it. I sent the potato back, and they warmed it up for me. Gave up on the chicken. Terrible !!! Our first experience was really good but the waitress was very rude they said to go online and reserve a table and we took their advice and what a joke!! We first reserved a table for 10 but then changed it to 6 people but still got a big table that sat 10 and had to sit inside instead of outside like we asked for. Service was slow and got the same rude waitress. We had to wait an hour to get our food and then it was cold !! The waitress said someone took our steak and had to redo it. Sadly to say I doubt we will be back they need to definitely make some changes. read more

We have been going to El Bo Inn for years. It's our favorite restaurant to go to while staying at CCR. Of course, we expected Saturday night to be busy, but that was ridiculous. We waited for a table for 6 of us for almost an hour. Which again, on Saturday night you're going to have some sort of wait. But while others are getting seated at a table, if 5 came in after us and were seated before us, all they needed to do was pull up another chair, and it would have been perfect. We were told when we got there in just 15-20 mins. A 1/2 hour later I asked the host how much longer she said. 15 mins then my friend didn't know. I just asked, and she then said 45 mins to an hour. We were finally seated because they were the size of us: 4 adults at one table and then about 2 teenagers at another about 5 feet away. We ordered our food and appetizers right away. Our order consisted of 2 appetizers: mozzarella sticks and fried mushrooms, Ribeye dinner, boneless chicken wings and fry basket, wild game burger x2 and cowboy burger x2. At hour number 2 of being in the restaurant at that time, there were still no appetizers. The waitress kept saying they would be on their way. Well, they didn't. Other tables were all getting their food and eating, leaving etc., and we would all still wait for our food. We were all so hungry at that time, it was too late to go to a store to get food or drive to another restaurant. 2 1/2 hours in, we finally got our appetizers. Just after 3 hours, we finally got our food. My husband and daughter both ordered the same thing: the wild game burger. Now they both looked different. My husband looked like a frozen from a fast food restaurant, while our daughter actually looked like a wild game burger patty. Then I mention both were cold, and the fries were just as cold. Next they gave me my ribeye, which was multicolored, undercooked and also overdone and gray. I also had a side of fries with it and both were cold as can be. It's like they took the ribeye right out of the fries and it was hard. The 2 cowboy burgers and fries came out along with the wing basket. Well, cowboy burgers and fries were cold as well, so that's 5 out of the 6 meals cold. The only warm hit was our appetizers as well as the chicken wing basket with fries. At this point, we were so mad seeing others walk in after us eating to eat and leave, and we just got our food, and it was cold. We sat close to the kitchen and overheard staff with the kitchen not getting along with the wait staff. There was no manager on duty, so we talked to the bartender about our issue, stating we have been here over 3 hours and our food is cold. She told us she remembers us from when we walked in and orders our drinks at the bar. It's sad that she even knew we'd been there for so long. Our bill was over $160, which included drinks, and for that type of money you expect the service of good food bringing to your table and enjoying that food. My ribe eyes were so disgusting looking I was shocked. They even took that to me. The cooks should be embarrassed by themselves. It's not like we wouldn't have spent the money on our food and drinks. This is why we went out. We didn't want to cook ourselves and enjoy going out with friends. Now let me say this was not our waitresses' fault by any means. She was sweet along with the bartender who was working the evening of 10/11/2025. On top of all this, as we were dealing with the mess going on with our teenage daughters who were sitting at a table by themselves, a gentleman offered to buy them a drink and then their dinner. They are under-age girls and offering to buy them a drink from the bar, come on. Our girls were polite and said no thank you. Our experience on Saturday evening was not good and after years of being there, it's been going downhill for a while. This will be our last time going to El Bo Inn. You need someone managing the kitchen because obviously there was an issue, as well as a manager in the restaurant itself, to make sure it is running smoothly. Getting there at 6:20 pm and leaving close to 10:00 without eating dinner is ridiculous and uncalled-for. You don't even deserve this one star I'm giving. Let me tell you again, the waitress and bartender went out of their way for us. read more

The food has never let us down. The servers are more of a hit than a miss. It's a must stop for us when we are in the Atlanta area. It's right on the trail, next to a gas station. What more could you want when riding in the area? If you like cheese sticks, try theirs. They should call them cheese logs. read more

The owner has added so many extra additions to make this an up north destination including outdoor patio bar with live music. It has a friendly atmosphere with great service. Food is always good and great craft beer on tap. Ever try Reuben soup? Best soup I've ever had. read more

The blonde lady (the owner??) who greeted us at the door was extremely rude and seemed like she didn't even want us here, we haven't even sat yet, will edit when we eat. Edit: We sat on the patio where someone in our party had arranged a table a chairs, we were greeted by the owner again being very rude. She was condescending and just seemed like she hates her job. I pointed out to her that I was understanding and was met with even more condescending words. Apparently she apologized to someone in our party after the exchange. No matter what that behavior towards a guest as an owner of a restaurant is absurd. Despite that the food was absolutely delicious! The mussels, mozzarella sticks, and potato skins were wonderful starters. The fried fish basket was also great, French fries were mid tier. What was supposed to be a nice birthday dinner celebration, ended up a huge disappointment. We were seated in an extremely noisy room with a couple large parties. I get it, with large parties (with kids) comes more than expected noise. We sat for over 30 minutes, maybe even longer. We watched couple of waitresses bring food and drinks to tables they were waiting on. At NO time were we ever approached or even acknowledged that we were sitting there. Just a simple, hello, we will be with you at some point would have gone a long way! . A couple more patrons came in, at least 20 minutes after us and were seated, and to our surprise had both waitresses taking their drink orders. We live in Petoskey and are fed up with the restaurants there charging ridiculous prices for Sysco food which is why we decided to go further out. My husband and I decided to try the El-Bo Inn's prime rib special. The prime rib was tender but very flavorless, total lack of spices. The au jus was greasy water, no beef flavor at all. My husband tasted oregano and cumin in the au jus. My husband's potato was underbaked as was his bread stick. We were disappointed as we had eaten at this restaurant before a few times, and the food was terrific. The server was excellent; very prompt with serving us even though the restaurant was very busy. She even took time out to joke with my husband; extremely personable waitress...wish I could remember her name. We had finished eating and were approached by a woman (who we found out later was the owner named Tiffany). She asked if she could clear our plates. As she was doing this, she asked our server's name; neither of us remembered it. Tiffany then asked, in a condescending way, if we could describe our server. My husband then asked Tiffany why he needs to know our server's name? He said that she's been great, but why does her name matter? Tiffany explains that she, Tiffany, is the one who needs to know as the server should have cleared our plates after seeing that we were finished. During this exchange, another server, overhearing the conversation, informed Tiffany the name of our server. Tiffany goes away with our plates just as our server comes back to our table. We inform her as to what went on and that we told Tiffany that our service was great. We felt bad for our server as she had done nothing wrong, but we were pretty sure she'd be feeling the wrath of Tiffany that evening. Needless to say, we left a very generous tip. Regardless of the mediocre meal, our dining experience was completely ruined due to our interaction with Tiffany. She was condescending, rude, and completely unprofessional. Since when is it appropriate for a manager/owner to use her customers to rat out her employees? It's her job to know who is doing what in her restaurant without involving the customers!!! What's even more frustrating is that our server did nothing wrong!! Tiffany, if you read this, take it from us, stay in the kitchen; your customers will appreciate it! read more

This was our third time eating at the El-Bo Inn. The first two times the food was very good and the experience was excellent. Last night we went for their prime rib night special. The meal was at best lack luster. The prime rib had no real seasoning, and the au ju was basically grease with a little cumin and oregano thrown in. It was not good. The baked potato was under cooked to the point of being crunchy. A little lawry's and celery salt would have done wonders. The au ju could have used any form of beef consume or bouillon. The meat was cooked correctly as requested at medium rare, and it was a reasonable cut of meat. My wife's medium well cut was also cooked correctly. Unfortunately the lackluster meal was not the worst part of our experience. We were graced with a visit by the owner, Tyffany, at the end of our meal. Her first question was did we know the name of our server. I told her I did not remember it, but that she was very nice and did a good job. Tyffany continued to press the issue as if she was looking to identify the server to discipline her for something. I asking very frankly why does her name matter to me? She was a good server. Tyffany explained that it was not important to me, but was important to her so that she could appropriately handle server quality. She felt that we should not be sitting at the table with empty plates that had not been cleared. We had literally just finished eating. Let me reiterate that our server was great. In my opinion Tyffany was condescending and far too eager to demean one of her employees in front of us. Customer service does not appear to be Tyffany's strong suit. read more

Went to this bar and grill on with my family on our way up to Rogers City on a Wednesday evening around 7:00 PM. The Inn had a few tables but certainly wasn't busy. The waitresses were super nice but told us our food would take a while because the owners were new and so were the cooks. Then, they brought us our drinks in small beer glasses (we had ordered talls) because "the dishwashers are behind and we are out of clean pint glasses." Really?!?! There were maybe four tables in the place. Our food came out eventually. The waitress, who again was super nice, apologized and said that the kitchen had "lost" our ticket. Again, there were only FOUR or so tables in the place! When it did finally show up, it was basic bar food. Nothing special. Our burgers were decent, the onion rings were slightly burned. My kids' pizza was okay. The biggest shock of this place came when they brought the bill. It was really expensive for northern Michigan. Heck, it was really expensive for bar food. Our four craft beers alone totaled $24 which is a lot more than other bars in the area. So, I suggest you pass this place and head a few more miles down the road and hit The Cabin in Onaway for really good bar food and much cheaper beer. The El Bo Inn won't last if this is how the new owners run things. read more

Excellent food, nice selection of beer and waitstaff are always eager to please. I like that the owners are actively involved and often mingle with customers. Pizza is always a favorite, burgers are good and fish is delicious. Parmesan Walleye is one of my favorites and my friend raved about the fish and chips last Friday. The 'new' (2 years ago?) owners are doing a nice job with food quality, cleanliness and an upbeat atmosphere that makes me want to come back. read more

Crazy I've been going to the El-Bo Inn for 35 years because our family has a cabin a few miles away. There have been many owners over the years and have had countless great times. Just met one of the new owners tonight (wife) so frustrated forgot her name. Sitting at the bar no one near us friend drops a f- bomb talking with her (not loud at all) and she tells us to get out because it's a family restaurant. Good luck apparently they don't need our money when we come up so taking our money to downtown Atlanta until the next owners of the El-Bo Inn which hopefully will be sooner than later. If your looking to have a good time during snowmobiling, hunting, four wheeling or whatever and you occasionally swear at a bar this is definitely not the place to go. Maybe she will learn to understand her patrons who spend money on alcoholic beverages and food and who don't appreciate being treated like children and didn't realize we were at Chucky Cheese. read more

Always a great place to visit when up in the Atlanta area. Ever since visiting the Ranch as a little boy, I have stopped here every time the family makes a trip to the area. The establishment started out not so good, serving normal frozen bar food. It was a neat hangout especially during the hunting seasons when the football game would be on Sunday's and half priced apps. About 3 years ago I returned to the establishment after a few years, and the food and service was 2x better than what I could remember. My main order now with the revamped food usually consists of the Mozzarella Sticks which are hand-battered in their fish batter and are excellent. I usually follow it up with the Mac and cheese that is always fresh, and hot out of the oven. I recommend this hole-in-the-wall bar for its amazing food, while the atmosphere and decor are usually lacking during the off seasons or when the local Ranch Residents don't go out for a bite, but other than that this place is great! read more
