What a perfect evening dinner! We started with cocktails at the bar. It's a small bar, but the bartender is both very talented and nice. We had a great conversation while he efficiently made drinks. You can also relax on their patio outside with drinks before dinner (or after dinner). Then we had a lovely dinner. Our waiter was superb and recommended a great wine to pair with both my lamb and my husband's fish. During our dinner we began talking to a very nice couple next to us and ended up sharing more drinks and dessert on the patio. Highly recommend this restaurant! Second time here in a month, says it all really. Quality ingredients, perfectly cooked and presented. Concise menu, no faff, great staff and comfortable surroundings. Three course meal of similar standard to highly regarded city centre restaurants for 40 euro a head. Seriously. Highlights were my wife's veal belly with home made gnocchi, wild garlic and sheep's cheese, my quail with sweetcorn, wild mushrooms and truffled almonds and last but not least the slow cooked feather blade of beef, which just fell apart in the mouth. Our group of three had dinner here earlier this month and we really enjoyed ourselves. The space is tucked back off Donnybrook Rd making it nearly impossible to stumble upon it on your own. They have a cozy bar area, a lively main dining room and an amazing terrace. We started with a bottle of wine and they brought out some really tasty house baked bread. For my starter I had the sweet corn soup and J went with the terrine. Both were good but not out of this world. For my main I had the lamb neck with grilled romaine and J had the hake. Both dishes were impressive but we found that we were still quite hungry, even with the whipped potato sides. To finish we each had the chocolate ganache with ice cream but immediately wished we copied our friend's order of the plum dessert. His was so delicious whereas ours were just okay. Overall we enjoyed our food and LOVED the atmosphere. read more

This restaurant change the menu every week, and almost foods is Irish foods!(from Dublin, Kerry, Wicklow...etc) I'm not Irish, so I can eat delicious foods from Ireland. I went back recently as part of my farewell tour of Dublin's finest food - moving back to NYC in the blink of an eye. I really enjoy this restaurant. Portions are not huge, but they are not wasted either - I hate going to restaurants where they serve you more then any human should eat at one sitting. Visited here with my dearest fiancée recently, having come to an agreement that we either go away for a night or splurge on a fancy meal. The fancy meal option was chosen! After quickly finding the restaurant, which is sneakily hidden away in an unassuming lane behind the famous Kielys pub in Donnybrook Village, we were greeted by a friendly lad who took our coats (mine still had remnants of bird faecal matter from earlier in the day, good luck supposedly) and ushered us into the cosy bar where my lady friend ordered some sort of hip gin based cocktail and I panic ordered whatever craft type beer I recognised on the menu. My darling and I then attempted to make urbane conversation as we surreptitiously eavesdropped on our fellow drinkers, who spoke of summer houses in California, aerospace stocks and having "fine noses" for whiskeys I'd never heard of. After 20 or so minutes of that witty conversation (and not a lot on our part!) we were ushered to our table and greeted by our waiter for the evening, who looked similar to a young, cheerful Pep Guardiola. He explained some of the menu for us and handed us a wine list which was not dissimilar to an ancient Greek tablet. Knowing nothing about wine and believing that they all basically taste the same, I deferred to my sweethearts knowledge and she selected a malbec for me which certainly tasted like wine. 1-0 to her! Having perused the seasonal and locally sourced menu and thankfully spotting things I vaguely recognised, I opted to start with the seared scallop with caviar and cauliflower soup. It was probably the most well cooked and seasoned thing I have ever ate up until that point in my entire life. The scallop was soft and moist and the cauliflower soup was beautiful. Caviar tasted like nothing really like I suspect it always does, but it certainly looked well on the plate. In between this course and our mains, our waiter brought out some small dishes like pork cheek with chorizo mayo (delicious!) and lardo (sort of melted lard with pork crackling, I asked!) which was so tasty you instantly knew it was clogging your arteries. For mains I had the Wicklow venison with brussel sprouts, confit of parsnip, blackcurrant gel and coffee mayo. This dish then became the best thing I had ever tasted in my life. Everything was lovely, I never knew a parsnip could taste so good and of so many things! For dessert I had a chocolate thingy that was not part of that evenings menu but our sound waiter recommended. All I know is that it had 3 layers of chocolate, plus melted/burnt white chocolate and ice cream, and of course it was also fantastic. Definitely the best meal I have ever had the pleasure of stuffing my face with and highly recommended, even if the thought of mixing with your social betters makes you break out in a cold sweat like it does to me, the food is that good! read more

Had a super meal here last night. Very tasty pea risotto, full of flavour, with a ham croquette and a cheese foam. Excellent presentation. Followed with pigeon breast with roasted gnocci and artichokes, again a visually superb plate. Desert was a hazelnut mouse with mascarpone ice cream, fantastic. The service was a bit slow, very professional and pleasant, but we felt that the girl serving us was trying to cover too many tables. Excellent petit fours, do not pass these up. From the moment we entered the restaurant, we were swept off our feet. Starting off the night with a drink in the garden was such a calming experience and really set the tone for the entire evening. Each and every dish appeared carefully constructed and beautifully presented. The flavor combinations used in each dish were so particular and unique, that we had no choice but to take our time and savor each bite. The ambiance of the restaurant also worked to help create the perfect evening out. We particularly loved the touch of the adorable dog painting! This dining experience was so personal and unique, and it will most certainly stand out as a highlight from our first trip to Ireland. We came across Mulberry Garden at Taste of Dublin this year and decided that we would give it a try for something new. Having reserved a table for the following Friday we didn't know what to expect. They only have a choice of 2 starters, 2 mains and for desert there is a choice of cheese or desert of the day. Amazing. From start to finish this place amazes. On arrival we were met by the stunning Laura, who asked us did we want a drink at the bar or to go straight to our table. The place was buzzing and we decided to have a drink. We started with some fantastic cocktails. As we went onto cocktail number two we thought we should head for our table for some soakage! The food was absolutely sublime. There was a lovely selection of bread served with smoked butter. We obviously ate too much of it cause we weren't able for desert later. Starter and main course were both super. The menu changes every week depending on what's in season, which I think is a great idea. I would come here every week if I could. The restaurant is only open Thursday, Friday and Saturday which is a pity but also keeps the uniqueness. I cannot recommend this place enough, I just hope it doesn't get too popular. The set menu is €40 per person which I feel is an absolute bargain for what you get. Great food, great service and fantastic cocktails, you couldn't ask for more! read more
