When I left it looked full because it was filled with foam. It tastes great, but seriously if you are going pay decent money for coffee then it should be filled all the way. Let me preface this by saying I lived in Canton for over 2 years, I'm not a passerby that grabbed some coffee. That being said... Canton, OH is a cesspool of despair and misery... There are very few respites from that and none in the heart of beast, downtown. None other than Muggswigz, that is. I'm a coffee snob to put it bluntly and I've never come across a better cup of any coffee variant. I've lived in 5 states and traveled to countless others and nothing stacks up to Muggswigz. I've often considered having them ship it to me and have had family in the area ship it to me as gifts, etc. To the folks that said the coffee was "good, not great". I think you are insane. I've been the the Dominican Republic and tasted coffee from a coffee plantation that wasn't this good. MugsWiggz bids on lots of estate coffee from around the world, roasts it in the store and an award winning barista prepares your drink. I'm not kidding on award winning either, these folks have won competitions the nation over. The inside is nice, cozy and homely. It got my wife through 2 years of grad school and the coffee got me through 2 years in a dying hulk of a town without self mutilation. If you find yourself in Canton, go to Mugswiggz. Great shop in downtown Canton that roasts in-house and makes all of their own syrups. I have to say that I've found the spot and the coffee nothing short of perfect. It's a great place to meet a client during the day and a hang out and listen to a local musician at night. I'm a Los Angeles native, and had the pleasure of spending some time in Canton, OH. When I discovered Muggswigz, I was totally amazed. This place offers great tasting brewed coffee, and usually more than one flavor. The barista's are sweet and friendly, and the place is gigantic with tons of seating for whoever may come in. The place is immaculately clean, and often the owner Alex is there roasting beans. I once heard that he had a science degree, and his careful process for creating a fine brew is quite apparent when tasted. They also have a fine selection of teas, as well as espresso drinks. You'll often hear NPR over the speakers, which I think is very tasteful for a coffeehouse. And the volume is always at an appropriate sound level. Loud enough to hear, but not too loud to drown out with a nice conversation or with earphones, playing my own tunes. While I found the owner Alex to not be very charismatic, I had lots of favorite baristas in which I had developed a friendly relationship before I returned home to L.A. Now living in the great city of Los Angeles, I can't find a place that has all of the feature Muggswigz had in one place. Sure there is Intelligentsia in Silverlake, which has very good coffee... But it's nearly $4 dollars for a regular cup of coffee, and there is never enough seating. There's other places such as Stories in Echo Park, which has decent coffee, and usually more available seating, however it is not as comfortable. The customers are not as friendly as they are at Muggswigz. So, that all said. Even in my massive home city of L.A., I am constantly wishing there was a clone of Muggswigz out here. I miss the super friendly baristas, the excellent coffee and the large sitting area. Looks like if I want to find something this awesome on the west coast, I'll need to head up to Portland. read more

The only thing that stops me from giving them a full 5 stars is the very high prices that are much more expensive than other local coffee shops. Also, non-dairy alternatives cost $0.60, though I can't fault Muggswigz since that's still common practice in the coffee world. Cute coffee shop with a ton of tea options. So if you love tea, definitely check it out. They make some of their own strips which is fun and sell a variety of loose leaf teas and coffees beans as well. I got an iced latte and it was served in a hot to go cup, which I found kind of odd, but I was ordering it in December, so maybe they just didn't have the cold cups in stock that time of year. I drink a lot of coffee - this is by far the best I have experienced. Alex, the owner, roasts his own beans in-house. Daily they brew 2 caffeinated and 1 decaf roast. I have not come across a roast I haven't enjoyed, but the Black Gold Blend & Ethiopian roasts are astounding! If black coffee is not your thing, they have a large variety of specialty drinks ranging from a Baklava Latte to a Quadade...which is 4 shots of espresso and lemonade. Honestly, the citrus hints in the espresso complement the lemonade quite well, making an amazing iced drink! They also have a large variety of teas steeped at perfect times and served up in your own pot! read more

Muggswigz holds such a close place in my heart. I have so many fond memories of going here with my friends in middle school, high schools, First Fridays, and eventually holidays breaks during college. The purple picker upper (a hot lavender mocha) has been my favorite coffee drink since I was 14, and although I don't live in Canton anymore, I think about it almost every day. I must preface this review by saying its a little biased- Jessica, the barista who served me was so nice I think I fell in love. I ordered a peppermint mocha and she said they were out of peppermint syrup, but she had some of her own peppermint, and improvised. It was delicious. Mmmm so good, so delicious coffee, cappucinos and tea. Quite a wide range and there always is one barista who is very knowledgeable about the options. I particularly enjoy their roibos tea for days when I want to drink tea but don't want any caffeine. Otherwise my staple is the Chocolate mocha. Their snacks are nothing to get excited about, and not something I ever purchase but I didn't deduct any stars since the quality of coffee is my primary concern. On top of everything else, a LOCAL cafe with fresh inhouse ground coffee. What more could you want??? I study there often due to their generous hours, open 7 days a week often till midnight. They of course have free WiFi but also have plenty of outlets. If you go there a few times you'll notice they have some staple patrons, and that's always reassuring. There is a open mic night every Tuesday and there are always people there to entertain. Though this also means it is the one day that students should probably avoid the cafe. The only thing I dislike about the place is the parking situation. During the weekday, you either have to go out every 20 minutes to pay the parking meter or resign yourself to paying $5 in the nearby parking garage. After 4:30 on weekdays and the whole time on weekend, the parking outside the cafe is free (but limited). read more

This is Canton's best coffee. I have lived here for 30 years and we have and had a lot of great coffee shops. Muggswigz has a relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff and great products for sale. They have really good loose-leaf tea and other items. There is open mic night on Tuesdays. I don't know what time it starts, but have been there during and has been fun. I really like their Espresso Latte and if you want something REALLY sweet, the French Kiss is good. --They do accept credit cards, but it is a $5 minimum. read more

In all honesty, I dont think he realizes how terrible he is. I have had multiple workers complain about how he runs his business and it is not smart in the slightest. When I was in college a friend of mine wanted to open a coffee house. I went with him to look at spaces in that same general area. When one of the building owners found out that my friend wanted to put a "dirty hippie" coffee house, he called us Communists. That's Canton, for ya. Fortunately, things have changed in Canton, or Commies have taken over downtown. Whatever, I am astounded that this place exists there and seems to be dong so well. Music, poetry readings, art! This place used be be wonderful, and once again...not so much anymore. If you're someone looking for a place to hang with friends and have coffee, this is basically the only o-k place in Canton, but it's definitely not on par with what it used to be. The seating is a bit stilted (versus the awesome couches that they used to have), the walls are bare, and the music is questionable. (Mariachi??) To top that off, I was appalled at how much their drinks have not only dropped in quality but risen in price. Still, drop by for open mic night...it's the best hangout for the younger art scene in Canton...sadly. read more

Based on the USA Today "Best Coffeehouse" ranking, I decided to try this place when I was in Canton. I was in Canton to fly out of the Akron-Canton airport. I am so glad I stopped! I got a salted caramel latte. It looked almost too pretty to drink (see picture). It was delicious! My son got a hot chocolate and let me try it. It was super good -- it was not your average run-of-the-mill hot chocolate, it was very thick and the chocolate was super yummy. I've been coming to Muggswigz for quite a number of years, and I've had mixed experiences. Open mic night used to be fantastic when Keith Lloyd ran it, but it went downhill when he left. The drinks are great, and the peanut butter morsi are to die for, but the service is typically very slow (I'd really rather just have my drink than latte art, honestly) and it's just a very pretentious place overall. There's also seemingly a lot of seating, but it's very awkward because the small tables are taken up a lot of the time, so you're left to sit with rando strangers at the big tables. The Lake Cable location has a much better seating arrangement, but you're trading hipster pretentiousness for a comparatively sterile, yuppie-ish vibe. read more

Prior to moving away from Ohio, two years ago, my experiences were constantly wonderful, however, I never was a big fan on the seating options in this location. Since moving away, I visited once again on a visit home (yesterday) on my favorite night, open mic night. I was excited to see some of the same local performers, performing and everyone having a wonderful time. I was disappointed to see no improvements in the seating options and even more disappointed with my drink. As a regular of all of the specialty drinks, I would think I have a pretty good memory of how they're supposed to taste. During my visit, I ordered the Mocha Cookie Crunch (a blended coffee beverage) and it was served very water-y. Although, the drink was still good, the texture was not, like it used to be. But don't let that fray you away, from this great coffee shop. The baristas are wonderful, and so are the teas and the coffee beans. This is another place from my college days that I have recently visited. I had a frozen coffee drink that was killer. I love the big straw and the smooth creamy drink. I am glad to see that this place roasts and are well educated about their coffee. The baristas are friendly, patient, and know what they're talking about. This was a rather unexpected gem in Canton, Ohio. It does feel more like coffeehouses out west, or in Minnesota. It's a large spacious building with plenty of tables, countertops, and places to sit. There's free WiFi and clean bathrooms. The basics aside... The coffee and their selection of lattes is excellent, and the quality of my beverage was superior. The staff was friendly, helpful, and attentive. They have all sorts of retail product, as well as some interesting assortment of snacks, bars, and other little random treats. I would visit here anytime I'm in the area; and I'd even drive out of my way to get a great cuppa' joe. read more

After deciding not to frequent chain businesses so often, I always try to find authentic places to dine when I travel. I must say, I really enjoy this spot. The service is quick, the workers are nice, knowledgable and really take pride in their job and products. After telling the barista it was my first time visiting, he informed me that all of the flavoring a and syrups where made in house and I would find that their drinks taste like no other. A customer behind me concurred and I must say that I do as well. The atmosphere is nice and relaxing. Lots of natural lighting that really helps when you are trying to knock out homework.
