Muggswiggs, why must you fall so far from what you used to be? First let me tell you some history about the relationship between Muggswiggs and I. I used to go here all the time, at least every time I was in Canton and had the chance. The baristas were always friendly and seemed very knowledgeable about there job and the cup they were preparing, whichever beverage it was you had chosen off the large menu. Now I go here about once every two months or maybe a little less. Now I'll give you the current pros and cons to this place. I say "current" because I really hope that things change here! Pros: I love the atmosphere here, it's always so comfortable and makes you feel at home. I love the large selection of teas and coffees you can take home with you to brew yourself. I love that they have a wide variety of brewing instruments for your tea and coffee that you're taking home. There flavored specialty drinks are also quite good from what I remember. I haven't got such in quite a while because I mostly just enjoy my coffee black, and thats what I've been coming to. The cons: There pour-overs are no longer any good. I could go across the street to McDonald's and get something that tasted very similar for a 3rd the price. Myself being a coffee lover, I also enjoy making my own pour-overs at home. So when I come to a "professional" coffee shop I expect to find something just as good or better than what I can make in my own kitchen. Sadly this is not the case here with Muggswiggs any longer. The last couple times I've been here the baristas do not seem as knowledgeable as they used to be. My pour-overs have been bitter and burnt tasting. And did I really here them reading a manual on how to make a pour-over right after they got done making mine? Please teach your baristas how to properly prepare quality drinks before they start making and selling them to the public! For I often judge a coffee shop by how good there pour-overs are. I still love you and will continue to give you a chance, but if you can't step it up I will have to get my coffee elsewhere. read more

I came here a few weeks ago for the first time in years and ordered a chai latte with soy milk. I drank it and it tasted delicious, so I decided to stop by the Fulton Road location to get another one. When I ordered, the barista told me that the chai powder contains milk, and he asked if that was okay. It was not okay, as I have a dairy allergy. The barista at this location didn't have the common decency to tell me that the chai powder contained milk, which is preposterous. I will not be returning to either location. read more

Cute and spacious interior. I've had an iced coffee and the green tea latte. Delicious and so flavorful! Employees are always kind! They have delicious pastries, loose leaf tea tins, and tons of different flavors of coffee to purchase. They also have different brewing devices to purchase! I have to say this is a very clean and interesting place, but the open mic night was a joke. Only one guy playing and singing only one kind of music (which was very hard to understand), and never seemed to want to encourage anyone else to get up and play. Myself and another guy left without ever opening his instrument because the floor was taken. I got an iced mocha here, which is my go-to drink for coffee shops. I hate to say it, because I love my independent coffee shops, but I'd rather go to Starbucks than this place. Let me explain. The girl serving me was friendly enough. All was well until my friend in front of me in line had paid for her drink at the register. Before I could hand the barista my card to pay, the girl immediately walked away from the register without looking at me to talk to her friends who were directly behind me in line. I didn't want to be a jerk and interrupt, so the only way I could think to react was to watch them while they talked and hope I could catch her at a break in their conversation. I had plenty of time to just walk away from the register without ANYONE noticing, so maybe I should have taken the opportunity to get a free drink. They were talking for quite a while before they noticed me watching them, at which point I made it clear that I just wanted to pay. She quickly apologized and looked sheepish as she rang me out at the register. It was just a simple mistake, but it just left me with a bad taste in my mouth. Speaking of bad tastes, it seems that the barista was in such a rush to talk to her friends that she failed to make the drink properly! The drinks here are big, which make the price somewhat justified. However, with an iced mocha one might expect the drink to be cold. This one was lukewarm, with maybe a scoop of ice inside the rather large cup. Also, I asked for my mocha with skim milk, which was no problem. Skim milk usually makes the chocolate flavor stronger in an iced mocha, but this was more than just that. There was waaaaay too much chocolate in my drink. I couldn't taste any coffee at all through the intense, disgustingly sweet chocolate flavor, and I suspect if I had been able to finish more than half of my drink I would have seen an inch of chocolate sitting at the bottom of the cup. So, I guess to sum it all up; the service wasn't great and the drink was horrible. The only thing this place had going for it was that it's open late and it smelled like pumpkin pie. read more

Great coffee shop! They have some decent blends. I enjoyed the decor here as well. But from a hardcore lover of "Vietnamese Coffee"..... I'd stay away from the "Vietnamese" coffee here.. I gotta say that fell off the short bus for sure.. way to sweet and not even close to a real Vietnamese coffee IMHO. But hey, you cant win them all can you? Let me say, im dissapointed for not getting back here sooner! Its been a couple of years since ive been in muggswigs, and I'm kicking myself for it. The coffee is divine. I got the seasonal pumpkin spice latte and it was a power kick to the taste buds, yet also a lovely caress as well. The atmosphere is very chill, the coffee is top notch. Some evenings they even have live music. The only downside is the wait. You will be waiting a couple of extra minutes for this coffee and will be paying a tad bit more money for it. However, you will be receiving a cup of deliciousness that's well worth it. read more

Wow, quite surprising little coffee house in downtown Canton. Very cool decor that screams coffee plantation. Extensive selection of teas and creative coffee drinks. Some of the specialty coffee drinks approach $6 so take that, Starbucks! I have been going here for over a decade and love the atmosphere. The ONLY complaint that I have about this place is that, unless you have cash, you end up buying extra crap to meet the debit card minimum for your purchases, thank God for the biscotti right next to the cash register, heh heh. ;) Some of my favorites here are the French kiss and the peanut butter libswigg. I went here a bunch in high school, right after it opened. When I moved back into the area almost a year ago, I was happy to see it had only gotten better from it's already awesome starting point. It's a great place to go to by yourself to listen to music, read, write, or just sit and enjoy the art and comfortable environment that Muggswigz offers. It's also a great place to bring company and play the games they have, or just talk about just about anything your heart desires (children are present at times after all lol). I recommend it to anyone that lives in the area, or anyone that visits Canton. read more

Sad, sad, dishonest place. I purchased an expensive coffee machine which they sold as new. When it didn't work properly, I sent it for service. Turns out it is over 8 years old!! Owner refused to pay for the service. Stay away. Just a sad, sad place. read more

You feel like a little slice of home when I'm visiting Ohio! Not being a fan of Starbucks, and preferring local coffee shops, I usually feel kind of out of luck when I'm visiting. Muggwiscz has changed all of the that. I've only been there once, but I can already tell this is a quality place full of quality people. My soy latte was great, the barista was very helpful when I asked for breakfast restaurant recommendations, and the interior is dark wood, cozy and cute. They have a very interesting list of special lattes that you can get, including some flavored with lavender! They don't have the gross, super sweet Torani syrups either. Their are in what look like apothecary jars and appear to be possibly homemade?! That would be awesome. Can't wait to go back tomorrow morning :) read more

Traveling through OH and living in NYC, if you're ever in the area TOTALLY worth it to check out this little gem. I just ordered a vanilla cloud latte and it does not disappoint. The perfect pick me up for any morning brew, midday coffee or nighttime hang out. Spacious and the staff is super friendly. They also appear to be environmentally friendly and some products are organic certified. Highly recommended! Will be back next time I stop through Canton! I admit it. I'm a coffee snob. Muggswiggz is a great little hipster hole-in-the-wall coffee shop, Lattes are very good. Their espresso has a wonderful flavor, and -- YES! -- they actually froth their milk correctly, offering wonderful latte art in each mug. The latte art is more than just something that looks good. It is that micro-foam that brings out the wonder of the espresso to your taste buds. read more
